  1. I'm back, weeeeeeeeeeeeee! :pony: I'd love to do the segment where I just review one JJFP track every show. Sign me up for that. :wiggle: We should divide up the segments and get recording. :2thumbs:
  2. posts approximately 1.5 times a day, just like yours truly :pony:
  3. I'll break my opinion down like this: Personally, I'd like to see a healthy mix of both the lighter, fun side of Will :woot: and the more serious, contemplative side of Will :smart: but mostly, I just want quality, on whatever side of the spectrum he decides to make a track. And in my opinion, FP has done a pretty good job at achieving that blend (for the most part, at least). Couple other random thoughts I have in regards to the theme of this thread (or loosely connected to it, anyways)... 1. Non-serious tracks aren't inherantly dumb. I love songs like "Ya'll Know," "Brand New Funk," "The Reverand," "The Twilight Zone," and "Will 2k," and I will fight anyone who calls them dumb to the death. :wtf: They're not supposed to be insightful, they just are what they are. 2. I never liked when Will tried to make songs that were like stand-up comedy acts in rhyme. That's one type of mode I'd never like Will to drift back into. There are some tracks where Will just tried too hard to be the clown prince of rap, in my opinion (most of them are on "In This Corner..."). I always thought Will was funny, but I found that more in his subtler tracks, ones that weren't just outrageous for outrageousness sake, like "Parents..." and "One of Those Days." Ok, I'm done now, I think.
  4. With this morning's news out of London... God help the victims... God help humankind...
  5. Thanks for the info!! :2thumbs: Good to see the process of gettin Party Starter out to the people is under way.
  6. I share Fuq's skepticism here. I will never, ever, ever eat at a fast food restaurant because of cool uniforms. If they wanna update them to make the atmosphere of their restaurant look a little more updated, that's cool, but they're trying to get people to buy into a "McDonalds lifestyle"?!?!? :lolsign: Ummmmmm... no. If I was ever put in charge of advertising and whatnot for a fast food chain, I would give up on all these health campaigns, and campaigns to make the place seem classier and more reasonable to eat at regularly. Or cool or whatever it is they're going for. I'd just tell the truth: of course we're unhealthy, what we sell can hardly even be classified as "food." But you know it tastes good, and you know you want it. So every once in a while, when you don't have time to worry about cooking or finding real food, come buy and indulge. It's cheap, too! (ramblinggggggggggg  )
  7. :smart: London last hosted in '48... I'm a little dissapointed NYC didn't get the nod :sigh: haha but congrats, UK people! :2thumbs:
  8. They Might Be Giants, Why Does the Sun Shine? (The Sun is a Mass of Incandescent Gas) ... you simply cannot deny the greatness on display here
  9. Check out how the emotional arch of this post, with drastic changes in each line, is represented so well by the three smileys. Bracesup truly puts on a display of masterful clickable-smiley implementation. This warrented mentioning. :respect:
  10. Your smilie alerts are coming out more than terrorist alerts. :haha: ← If everything "terrorist" was replaced with all things "smiley", the world would be a much better place. Time for some random smiley-age of my own: :pharoah: :overhere: :exitstageright:
  11. It's time to play the, Contrasts Between JJFP Forum Posts from the UK about July 4th and Away Messages from My Buddy List on July 4th, Game!!! "Independence day seems a bigger thing that Christmas in the states." -kevtastic "Celebrating the worst holiday EVVVVVVVVVVER. I guess ill pretend like im pumped. But im not" -actual American AIM away msg "i wish we had an independance day. I also wish we were as patriotic as u guys." -julie "AMERICA -- **** Yeah! Commin' again to save the mother****in' World, yeah!" -a second actual away msg, displaying the serious/mocking patriotism of a real American teen quoting Team AMerica: World Police I just found this amusing, even tho it's CLEARLY just a selective sample. For the record, I think July 4th is cool, Boston throws a ginormous bash thing nationally televised, because we pretty much founded this here country (that's right, Phili, just cuz we signed the papers there doesn't mean you can take all the credit), but personally, I have more plans for tommorow than I did for today. Fireworks are fun, but they hurt my ears up close. Good times. YOO ESS AYE ALL THE WAY BABY!!!! :chuks: :pony: :2thumbs:
  12. I definately haven't seen all of these... Are they all on the forum somwhere? :hmm: ... Anyways, I voted for the Nokia Urban Music Festival, mostly because Jeff was so insanely good at that performance. :2thumbs: I loved how Will just let him do his thing for a while. But also, I'm partial because this performance introduced me to A.) the idea of a radio station being sexy and B.) the wonder that is pot noodle. :wiggle: Oh yeah, and if anyone votes for the NBA Finals performance :wtf: I officially deem you silly.
  13. Schnazz, my chatroom buddy! Happy birthday, man! Born on the fourth of July, huh? (*CHEEZY JOKE ALERT*) Are you a real live nephew of your Uncle Sam too?
  14. oh geez, he busted out the throne again... way to keep it chill for the poverty-concert hahaha :2thumbs:
  15. Obviously I don't agree with this fellow's assessment in general, but the following statement, I have to agree on: "He ran through innocuous and unimaginative hits ranging from the cross-marketing product (I wouldn't quite call it a song) "Switch" to "Summertime," his lilting flow about as hip as a high top fade." I wholesomely agree because A.) that's my favorite description of "Switch" EVER (sorry guys lol) and B.) clearly, the high top fade is the "hippest" haircut EVER, which would obviously, by way of his analogy, make "Summertime" the "hippest" hip hop song EVER. Sounds accurate. :2thumbs: FACT: I had a conversation with a friend the other day about Kendell Gill, former NBA player and current boxer, that concentrated not on the Sports Illustrated article written this week about his career change, but rather the fact that last season, Special K was the most recent NBA player we've seen to rock the high top fade. :1-say-yes: Henceforth, we both love the guy.
  16. THIS JUST IN: Idiocy is contagious. :pony: But I'm glad you enjoyed my little remix anyways. Wes, Brakes, we clearly need to team up and form our own production company. I can put down the beats, Brakes, you can tear it up on the wheels of steal, and Wes can put on the finishing touches with his extrordinary beat-boxing skills. We can call ourselves "A Touch of Bull****" or something of that nature... (Just givin the censor a little workout! :wiggle: )
  17. lol I kinda just wanted to see you guys reactions :wiggle: but for the record, it wasn't from CNN, it was a guy from ESPN talking about the article, which was on CNN.com, that he gave a link to. ANYways, it's just his opinion. He's not disrespecting Will, he's just... wrong (in my humble opinion). In any case, the guy who wrote that is not all bad. He also had the following link on his site the same day... http://www.woai.com/mediacenter/?videoId=127539,565 ...which is, yes, San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker rapping in his native French tongue at some type of NBA championship party/rally. HIGHLY amusing. I love the others guys' reactions.
  18. Jeffrey Townes, what is UP. Ummmmm... I like your work and whatnot, but I guess that's kinda obvious. I guess just... keep doing what your doing? I say this because, clearly, without my encouragement, you would give up music entirely. Soooooo... yeah! Hopefully I'll see you and Will in NYC this fall if the tour really comes thru. I'll be down at Iona College there. If you do anything in the summer tho, you gotta come up to Boston. You have to accomodate my schedule, Jeff. Allright then... Much appreciation, once again. If you're ever on AOL instant messenger, and you're like, "Hey, I wish I could chat with some random fan right now, that sure would be fun!", drop me a line at sCyhigh02. Or come by this forum sometime, we got alotta real big fans here. Other than that... ummm... bye!
  19. Tim & Wes, cool remixes. Oh yeah, I made one too. The beat and the rhyme actually match up, too -- for about two seconds, anyways. Take THIS, Ludacris... http://rapidshare.de/files/2727516/turtleremixMP3.mp3.html **NOTE: this was far more fun than it ever should have been
  20. Hey, I wasn't kidding, was I... Track Four: Mr. Niceguy Is it weird to resent 2 minutes and 21 seconds worth of music? Because I kinda do. :wtf: With all the ridiculous Eminem vs. Will Smith hype this track generated even prior to its release, I was bitter towards this song before I ever heard it. And yes, I still maintain that between this and "The Real Slim Shady," exactly zero "disses" were exchanged between FP and one Marshall Mathers. But oooooooh well... I'll stay clear of making that argument at this point. :spin: This isn't a song I'd ever listen to regularly, anyways. Sure, Will's flow is pretty tight in places, and some of the jokes and voices are good for a chuckle, but I'm not a big fan of the electric guitar riff, and the way Will says "He's a Nice Guy" in the hook consistently makes me bleed from the ears. :uhh: In all seriousness, Will has unthinkably annoying delivery on that line. If that's what he was going for, to sort mock his critics, then kudos for a job well done. Either way, the biggest mystery about "Mr. Niceguy" remains the inexplicable barking. Will just randomly decided to go Baha Men on us for a minute? :hmm: Whatever. The bottom line is this: I'm sure it was theraputic for Will to get all of these frustrations of his out in the open through his rhymes, so good for him. :thumbsup2: But for me personally, the results aren't exactly a highlight of the album.
  21. I'm not exactly sure why I'm posting this. I guess I just couldn't resist. :smoked: But here it is, just a snippet from a weekly links section of a website I read alot, commenting on a link to that AP article with Will's quotes on rappers and their influence, in which the "maybe they think Will ain't hard enough" line off "I wish I Made that" was printed... "cnn.com – Bear with me, I have to get this off my chest: Will, I know your heart is in the right place here, but if you're looking for a reason why your album sales are so low, I've got the answer – you're not a talented rapper. You've got an excellent point about the positives of looking up to someone like Mos Def rather than the gangbanger genre, but don't undermine the credibility of your argument by throwing yourself in the mix. Put on any Mos Def track and then follow with any one of your own – it's not even close. Even as an A-list actor, I think you're underappreciated. But as a rapper? Come on, man. Don't be the whiny guy rationalizing why it's someone else's fault that your record sales are low. You're better than that." Your thoughts? :hmm:
  22. FPOBA reunion, Fugees performance(!!!!), John Legend & Stevie Wonder collaboration, and something about a lapdance involving Destiny's Child (this needs further explanation)?? How did I miss this... Lack of a Will performance notwithstanding, sounds like a pretty solid show. But alas, I was out. You guys know if/when they'll be replaying this? I suppose I could check myself, but it's so much easier to ask... :2thumbs:
  23. Gotta love Family Guy. They completely copied the Simpsons, but then they out-did the prototype. They out-Simpson-ed the Simpsons. :2thumbs: (just a random commentary on the show... you're welcome) Oh yeah, thanks for the clip, Tim. :word:
