  1. Thanks, AJ! I tried to mix it up (but couldn't not open up with "Summertime" on the unofficial first week of summer haha).
  2. .--oh! I should add that I've written up posts on two of my favorite Jeff-without-Will cuts, too: "Practice" (feat. J-Live): https://www.instagram.com/p/CoZrGtRuqnU/ "We Live In Philly" (feat. Jill Scott): https://www.instagram.com/p/CriKcNVsbZ2/
  3. Hey everyone! Some of you might remember me; I'm a lapsed member who was, for a time, really active on here. (Longtime lapsed at this point... time flies!) But I recently started a daily (M-F) Instagram music blog titled "Daily Song Thoughts" as a little creative outlet (despite *none* of my creativity being put into that name) and I did a "theme week" last week about JJFP. It occurred to me that some people here might get a kick out of it: Monday - "Summertime": https://www.instagram.com/p/Cs0j5PTuUlP/ Tuesday - "He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper": https://www.instagram.com/p/Cs3IlLxuxal/ Wednesday - "Twinkle Twinkle (I'm Not a Star)": https://www.instagram.com/p/Cs5taA7re0q/ Thursday - "Then She Bit Me": https://www.instagram.com/p/Cs8SNP5LBua/ Friday - "So Fresh": https://www.instagram.com/p/Cs-3DiyLI_O/ Let me know what you think! Was this a decent spread of songs to (somewhat) represent an appreciation of Will & Jeff's work? What songs most deserved inclusion that didn't get it? (For me, probably "Brand New Funk.") What song(s) that I picked were bad choices? (I know "Then She Bit Me" is usually polarizing, but I have always loved/will always love it.) -Dave PS: Obviously, if you're on Instagram & intrigued to give me a follow, that would be very cool & much appreciated. :-)

  5. The impromptu drop-in thing is officially tired..... I know Jeff's "working on him" but someone needs to put "Field of Dreams"-esque voices in Will's head on a daily basis about this. "If you build it, they will come..." "Go the distance..." (^^a crowd of legit JJFP fans) Especially with all the 90s nostalgia out there always waiting to be tapped, im convinced the right marketing team could sell out a JJFP summer tour in 2016 in like 2 seconds. All it'd take is one slickly produced, viral-ready video. I'm picturing maybe a gag with Will rifling through his early FPOBA-era wardrobe as he prepares to get back on the mic full time, Jeff looking on skeptically... Then "Summertime" blares in over quick cuts of Jeff and Will performing over the years - cutting and rhyming from the 80s, 90s, and today - as a voice over announces that tour dates are online and tickets available. Maybe you get Alfonso Ribeiro to do that piece and load his voiceover copy with nostalgia-inducing references. "Now this is a story all about how the first ever Grammy-award winning hip hop act is reuniting and coming to your town to BOOM! Shake the room! Even your parents will understand and want to get jiggy at the hottest tour this Summertime." [music drops out temporarily while we cut to video of Alfonso in a recording booth - confirming this has been Carlton doing the voiceover all along - doing his signature dance and singing] "It's not unusuaaaaaaaal to want to get jiggy with Jeff and Will!" [cue vintage graffiti font coming down over final 2016 quick performance clips as Alfonso reads...] "Jeff 'DJ Jazzy Jeff' Townes... Will 'the Fresh Prince' Smith... The 2016 STILL FRESH tour... Tickets available now" [and you've gotta make sure that tour logo is an A+ design with the graffiti - brand that thing right!] /endrant.
  6. It's almost summer and I don't understand why I can't get tickets for a JJFP concert date and I came here for answers and some hope that the concert dates are coming and I didn't get that and BOO
  7. http://music.yahoo.com/read/news/25166775 50 Cent: I'll quit if outsold by West 08/10/2007 8:56 PM, AP 50 Cent believes his new album will outsell Kanye West's upcoming disc, and he's betting his solo career on it. Both 50 Cent and West have albums due out Sept. 11. 50 Cent, who has sold better than West, has been riled by forecasts that sales of West's "Graduation" could rival those for his "Curtis" CD. "Let's raise the stakes," the 31-year-old rapper told hip-hop Web site SOHH.com in an interview posted Friday. "If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer write music. I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out anymore solo albums." An e-mail sent to West's publicist wasn't immediately returned Friday. 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson, has been publicly disparaging of West before. In 2005, he suggested the 29-year-old rapper's popularity was only possible because of 50's own success. But they recently collaborated in the studio. Their work, though, isn't scheduled to appear on either new album. 50 Cent's last full-length solo album, "The Massacre," was the best-selling disc of 2005 and sold more than 1.14 million copies in its first week of release. The same year, West's "Late Registration" opened by selling more than 860,000 copies in its first week.
  8. Thanks a lot for this info - it's really cool to listen to the original tracks. Lots of the samples are surprisingly subtle. :2thumbs: :2thumbs: (TWO "2thumbs" for this)
  9. A ridiculously late "Happy Birthday," Schnazz! Hope it was a good one.
  10. Damnit, one more link! It's Mr. Rogers learning about breakdancing haha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xatZgEZ62fU And my apologies for steering the conversation away from Mr. Wizard. :topic: (While I'm YouTubing it up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcP7d_sS9uI ) EDIT: one.... more.... link. Mr. Wizard on the old Late Night with David Letterman show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLRxVwRClRg...ted&search=
  11. Even better Mr. Rogers link... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcvRMHz4mb4 ...And yes, I know I'm a loser lol :welcome4: By the by, were Mr. Wizard and Mr. Rogers broadcast outside the US at all? :stickpoke:
  12. I definitely grew up on Mr. Wizard. :adore: I'm no expert, but I think TV needs more people like him - and the late great Mr. Fred Rogers - today, people who work at a thoughtful pace for children. And for the record, I'm definitely just as big of a fan of Mr. Rogers as JJFP. :2thumbs: I'm not joking, in case that's what you think lol. He was The Man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaJQLgiXKO0
  13. Back in the USSR :wickedwisdom: (shout out to Sonic haha)
  14. :yeahthat: I had a professor for a journalism class this past semester who must be having a fit right now lol. He's a former New York Times reporter, and all he'd do was rant to us about how inane what the media spends time and energy covering is - and, conversely of course, how important stuff falls through the cracks and slips out of the public's consciousness before it even enters it. Prime example, much? :susel[1]:
  15. I'm not gonna lie. :lolsign: I couldn't listen through to the end. I just couldn't. :wtf:
  16. One of my all-time favorites, as well. Listened to it alot when I was first moving away from home to college.
  17. Yeah, I know. I've been gone for like... almost 2 years, save for a few random postings once or twice. I used to check the board like... every 5 seconds for a while there? And then when I got to college and got real busy, I couldn't do that any more, so I guess I just left altogether? Kinda stupid lol.
  18. I just had a really intense "Eureka!" kinda moment. If they don't wanna turn back the clock too much with the "DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince" label, they could still share top billing with a NEW group name. You ready for this? Big Will and Giant Jeff. Thoughts??? :1-say-yes:
  19. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band ... I'm stuck in the 60's/70's lately.
