  1. Candy :thumb: Because: A. I'm a sucker for the clever rhymes with all the delicious candy names. ... B. Like Wes said, it's got a real smooth rhythm to it. ... C. I specifically remember it being played at a Valentine's Day party I went to back in 5th grade (when Big Willie Style was THE cd to have). Any track that takes me back to such a randomly specific time and place gets bonus points in any contest, off the charts.
  2. I mentioned this in the chatroom before, and I agree w/ alot of the things u said Mimi. I think "Tell me Why" is a very emotional, strong track, and I think it's one of the best on the album. HOWEVER if your chief goal is to release a hit single, I don't think that this song is the one to go for, b/c I really doubt its gonna find an overly receptive audience out there. I could be wrong, but I don't see "Tell me Why" as the sure-fire success alotta ppl here do.
  3. That might be the greatest thing I have ever seen on this forum. :ohnoes:
  4. I do not like green eggs and ham. I do not like them, Sam I Am. I would, though, like to win this battle. In the old west, they used to drive cattle.
  5. Interestingggggggg take... but I would just say that I don't think swearing is "wrong," per say, but it is obviously impolite to be droppin F-bombs everywhere in conversation and whatnot. BUT if kids know exactly what's there behind the beep, and I dunno, I never thought of the beep as meaning it was wrong when I was a kid (just that they couldn't say it on the radio), so.... I dunno. And if it's supposedly "wrong," just don't say it in your song! Or just edit it Gwen-Stefani-style: This *silence* is BANANAS! Bee-Aye-Enn-Aye-Enn-Aye-Ess! Soooooooooooooo.... eeeeeeeeeeexactly. ... (FACT: this post was a complete excuse to quote "Hollaback Girl" :ridepony: )
  6. hAPPY bIRTHDAY, wILLjADAfaN! :thumb:
  7. Don't mean to nitpick, but this is the type of thing that gets to me... Are children any "safer" by hearing a beep instead of a curse in a song, when they know full well what the beep represents? Will their faces explode or sumthing if they actually hear the combination of the f, soft u, and k sounds spoken out loud? :shaketheroom:
  8. "Holland is the common name referring to the country of The Netherlands, although this is incorrect from a Dutch perspective. Holland is the name of a region in the central-western part of the Netherlands. Holland is a former country of the Holy Roman Empire and later the leading member of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces of the Netherlands (Republiek der Zeven Verenigde Nederlanden, 1581–1795)." --wikipedia You're welcome. :cya:
  9. I didn't know that was an "official" change. Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinteresting. The name switch made it less of a mouthful, that's for sure. :ahonetwo:
  10. Ahhhhhhhhhhh the wonders of photoshop :antlers:
  11. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELcome to the mysterious wonder that IS jazzy jeff fresh prince dot com slash forum! :drunk:
  12. For whatever reason, two unauthorized movies are made about your life. The first is an independently released documentary, primarily comprised of interviews with people who know you and bootleg footage from your actual life. Critics are describing the documentary as "brutally honest and relentlessly fair." Meanwhile, Columbia Tri-Star has produced a big-budget biopic of your life, casting major Hollywood stars as you and all your acquaintances; though the movie is based on actual events, screenwriters have taken some liberties with the facts. Critics are split on the artistic merits of this fictionalized account, but audiences love it. Which film would you be most interested in seeing?
  13. Well, since ppl are throwing out all sorta random names, I'll toss out the incredibly improbable collab of Will, Jeff, and Jack Johnson. This is partly just a pipe dream on my part, thinkin it'd be cool to have a cross-genre mixup of some of my favorite artists, BUT it actually could work... Jack's music has been melded into a hip-hop scheme before with "Breakdown" on Handsome Boy Modeling School's "White People" album, and it worked seamlessly. Actually, I think that remix turned out better than the original acoustic version on Jack's album. And honestly, who better to mix and scratch-up Jack's laid-back licks than one Jazzy Jeffrey Townes? They're like a match made in chill-out music heaven. And finally Will, the versatile MC that he is, could easily step in and do his thing, droppin a few verses. This needs to happen. :cya:
  14. LoL That's like something outta a bad SNL sketch. :mikelowry:
  15. Even though I don't have nearly enough knowledge to make the assertion with any sense of credibility, I voted yes. And surprise surprise, most ppl here agree. :ridepony:
  16. :werd: Yeah, I gotta say, I don't know when every1 around here became experts on the business side of the music industry... BUT for the sake of conversation, my opinion is that I'd like Tell Me Why to hit ASAP. First of all, I never liked Switch too much in the first place, but also, by all indications I look at (radio play, general buzz and talk... I don't study charts or anything), Switch was a modestly successful track that's falling pretty fast at this point. :night: Bring on the new material!
  17. Hey, thanks for this stuff, WillJadaFan, pretty cool. :thumb: Dunno where you ppl find it all, but that's one of the reasons this forum is so great.
  18. Oh shizzle! Check it out: I found a pic on my computer that I took a little while back when I hadda computer camera thing. I look oddly confused...
  19. Has he really matured? Chorus from "Can You Control Your Ho" from his new album: :poke: Hey the hook on "Pump Ya Brakes" is basically the clean version of that. :hilarious: "If you're girl is in your face And she's out of place Then what ya gotta do is, pump ya brakes" btw, nice knowledge there Maxfly, I could'nt say it better myself. I know ur probably just jokin around, Ted, but not really lol Pump ya Brakes is sayin for ppl to chill and back off when they're gettin outta hand-- I never would say that has anything to do with having a controlling relationship w/ ur woman & hittin her to keep her in line (oh my goodness, I'm usin the "nono"!)
  20. That's the definition of hypocrisy. I'm not saying that's what Will really believes (honestly I don't know what he believes, I'm not gonna pretend I know nearly enough about him to say definitively), but that's not a good explanation lol
  21. In conclusion and in summary, people -- in general -- ain't nuthin but trouble. :thumb:
  22. I'll jump in & give my perspective on Iraq, since my first post here was just like "Hey yeah great idea!" and then I didn't really participate... I don't think the US-led war was justifiable in any way. In a world of terrorism, and of biological and nuclear weapons, could a pre-emptive strike against a threatening regime somewhere theoretically be a correct course of action? Absolutely. But was Iraq such a situation? No. The whole argument for this hinged on the existence of weapons of mass destruction, and Saddam Hussein was clearly an oppressive, ruthless dictator, but it has become clear in the time since the invasion that we're not going to find any huge stockpile of WOMD anywhere, and that our intelligence sources that "verified" the existence of such stashes were questionable as grounds for war, at best. And the false nature of this explanation for the war has been all but verified by our lovely President Bush in that, somewhere along the line, his focus when talking about the war shifted from Iraq's ties with terrorism and the idea of preserving global safety to describing something of a heroic crusade to free the Iraqi people and bestow upon them democracy, liberty, and a McDonalds on every city block. As for this understanding, I want to believe that Iraq will be better off in the long run from the ousting of Hussein (who again, was clearly an evil ass-clown), and the first elections a few months ago and the relative (very relative) calming of violence since then have been positive signs that perhaps Iraq will grow and prosper under a democratic system-- sloooooooooooowly but surely. However, unless you are a complete consequentialist, this still doesn't justify the war morally. We went in under other pretenses! And is this freedom-crusade a universal policy? Because I'm pretty sure we pick and choose when it comes to which questionable regimes we support and which we don't, and yeah, economic and political factors dictate that. So where's the fairness there? ...Oooooooookay, that was completely disjointed and perhaps a little incoherant, but those are my basic beliefs about the situation in Iraq. I have a couple more questions to bring up, tho... 1. What do you ppl think about Michael Moore? I think he's a condescending propaganda-producer who undermines the intelligence of his audience. He is correct about alot of things, and kinda funny at times, tho. And I've read alot about his popularity abroad, so I was wondering. 2. What do you guys think about John Kerry? Don't know if you follow US politics that much (I certainly don't know anything about the runners-up in any elections outside of my country) but I was j/w what your impressions were. I think he is one of the most uncharasmatic, horrible politicians and communicators I have ever seen, and I'm pretty ashamed that the guy who managed to lose to Jorge Bush came from my state. Goodness gracious. 3. This is waaaaaaaaaay a more specific question, but I wrote an article in my school newspaper about the fact that in public buses in Boston, a recorded message plays every 20 minutes or so that says "Please report any unattended bags or suspicious behavior to the bus driver" and I was wondering what you ppl thought about that. It only started about a year ago, and I have to hear it, like, 4 or 5 times a day. Obviously very unnecessary, but also a borderline Orwellian tactic. So do you think that's as weird and unsettling as I do, or am I just overreacting b/c it disturbs my morning naps on the way to school? and finally... 4. This isn't even somewhat Middle-East-related, but was it big news globally when the Red Sox won the World Series last fall? Seriously, because it should of been.
