1. I mentioned JJFP in some of the songs I wrote, giving them props like I do with my other favorite artists in my rhymes I like to give props to the cats that inspired me to start rhyming(2Pac,KRS-ONE,Nas,Biggie,Rakim,Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy, and LL Cool J are some of the others I mentioned in my rhymes if you check some of the songs I posted here you'll see that I gave some props to them in there), I wouldn't know about real hip-hop if I didn't listen to them, now it's time to carry the torch!
2. If this is true, Kanye is becoming a sellout! :bang:
3. :thumb: Great freestyle, to me I find that the best freestyle comes when you don't rap for a few days, you have all the emotion in your head and you just wanna let it out, I can tell that u did that right here, sorry I couldn't reply sooner but I've been busy working. Keep it up, peace!
4. Right now I'm listening to KRS-ONE's "Kristyles" album, has anyone else here heard it besides me? :dunno: It's a great album, if he keeps rapping like this he'll be rapping for another 30 years easily! I gotta get the new one, it's hard to keep up with all his albums 'cause he releases them so fast!
5.
Yeah, it seems like artists and companies are flying over 2 Koch Records. But i dont know why. They put out albums and that's it...no promotion. Montell Jordan's came out with one video that got some play on BET but gain no real success. There waz a promo vinyl single released and that waz it. Deathrow's 2Pac remix album and live album came out with no videos, singles, etc. Now Boyz II Men, one of the most respected groups of all time come out with no video or singles. Hopefully they get on the ball. It's nice 2 have creative freedom, but it's no good if people don't hear your music.
I agree with you a lil' bit 'cause there's garbage music in the mainstream, a lot of these ol' school r&b singers like Keith Sweat and Boyz II Men are selling nothing compared to what they used to sell and a lot of these younger r&b cats who have no skill (Like B2K, lol) get more attention in this 106&Park generation! Of course it's the same thing with the ol' school rappers, a lot of them aren't recognized in the mainstream except for LL and Will while rappers like Jay-Z can say the same rhyme for 4 years and still go multiplatinum! The whole music industry is messed up right now, KOCH records doesn't give artist as musical freedom as you'd think 'cause KRS-ONE released "Kristyles" last summer but KOCH left off 3 tracks that KRS-ONE planned to put on there, it only had 17 tracks, and KRS-ONE left KOCH this year and released his album on another independant label called Grit Records, if anyone cares check out his new label's website:Grit Records One day a lot of these ol' school artists'll retire when they have to put out more money to make their albums than they actually make on a top label, realistically only Will Smith could afford to not sell another record for the rest of his life 'cause he makes a lot of money off of movies. This is the reason why I don't wanna be too much involved in the music buisiness, it's just a pipedream realistically, you might be rich for a while IF you make it when you're young, IF you don't make it before 30, you're better off doing what you were doing before that 'cause teeny boopers won't buy your records and it seems that the older fans don't buy music at all these days 'cause I bet a lot of the people that bought "Born To Reign" or "Big Willie Style" weren't those fans during "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" era. A lot of fans don't keep it real and it ain't the artists fault like you said AJ, you act like KRS-ONE doesn't try but he knows the game better than you and me do, he'll end losing more money by signing to a top label 'cause he'll dish out more money for videos and singles to be made than he'll get back in return EVEN if he goes platinum, he could actually afford to make albums still 'cause independant artists get better money, but of course all labels are shady.
6.
I'm listening 2 it right now. I'm kinda disappointed. A full studio album would be so much better than an album of covers. Nate, Shawn, and Wanya are the only ones in the group now. I knew Mike had health problems but i didn't know they were serious 2 keep him from recording.
No Michael on the album?!!! :eek4:
7. I've considered her one of the best female m.c's of all time, she came in the game with an aggressive rap style and introduced Naughty By Nature to the hip-hop game, and she has done so much to bring a positive influence to the game, unlike Lil' Kim who only shows off her body and doesn't work on her flow as much as she should, but I never pictured Queen Latifah doing an album with all singing and no rapping, she actually started singing and rapping on her albums before Lauyrn Hill did! Why isn't she doing any origial material on this album?!! :dunno: The hip-hop game needs Queen Latifah to start spitting to set these hoe female rappers straight!
8. Short, sweet, and to the point, I like it! I got a question for u though, is it gonna be like an ol' school rap song where it doesn't have a hook, or are u gonna put a hook in it? Other than that though, I think it's very good, u got ur point across well, not all songs have to be long like mine are! :thumb:
9. Thanks for the shout-out Jim, when I get the proper equipment I'll start recording and work on my own website, I'll keep y'all informed about that when it happens. I hope to join you in the 1000 Post Club the end of the year, when that happens, Tim and Prince'll be closing in on 3000!
10. R. Kelly's album comes out today? Boyz II Men too? Hell yeah I'll have some new R&B music to vibe too, now all I need is a girl to chill wit! Damn I can't believe it! I read in a magazine and I found out that R.Kelly 37 years old, I didn't know that he was older than Will. :dunno: Speaking of ages I was shocked when I found out that Chuck D is 44 years old now, I thought he was only in his late 30's like Dr. Dre and KRS-ONE are! :dunno:
11.
Its good! My advice to you is keep on writing! I dont think you can comment too much on these types of raps because they come straight from the writers heart!
No matter what you do, rap from your heart!
12. Hey do Boyz II Men have a website? I've been trying to find a good one for a while. They're my favorite R&B group, I'm glad to see that they're still doing their thing even after their record sales slowed down. I did read somewhere that Michael Mccarry retired from the group from back problems but that's not true right since they're dropping a new album? Thanks for the heads up, I can probably get it on sale where I work, I'm gonna keep my eye out for it!
13. Hey now even if this album doesn't go platinum, it doesn't mean that Will should consider retiring, he should only consider retiring if he runs out of ideas to talk about, but that shouldn't happen, since when ur an artist there's always something out there that inspires you. I don't wanna hear a Will Smith album wit mostly party songs on it 'cause I know that there's other things that he wants to mention and I hope that he expresses himself more. I liked "Born To Reign" 'cause even though it wasn't his lyrical best, he pushed the enevelope and he wasn't focusing on the lyricism, it had it's own unique style. Every album should sound different! Like I said before if Will really has a lot of passion for his music, he'll be motivated to do it even if there becomes a time where he doesn't sell much records, he'll do it for the love of the art like KRS-ONE and Jazzy Jeff do, none of Jazzy Jeff's mixtapes go platinum but he's still busy as ever. As long as Will's working wit Jazzy Jeff, he'll be motivated 'cause Jazzy Jeff wouldn't let him retire, he'll keep Will grounded like he has been.
14.
132) O'NEAL*SHAQUILLE SHAQ DIESEL 863,073 .... Is that suppose to be a joke? I'm wondering if these statistics are true....??? :dunno:
I think Shaq actually went platinum before and I read somewhere that his albums sold 5 million copies altogether, I think he's the only NBA player to release a platinum album, Master P tried to do the opposite by being a rapper playing in the NBA, but the Utah Jazz and Charlotte Hornets released him when he tried out for them a couple years ago.
15.
But bigred, as males; who R we 2 argue wit that? If it feels good do it... *Uncle Phil pops up* "Everything that feels good is wrong, do U hear me!"
Hey I ain't complaining! I ain't gonna front 'cause like many guys I wouldn't pass it if I had a chance to have a moment wit her but that doesn't mean that she's talented, but I wouldn't tell her that though if I met her. :switch:
16.
He has such a distinctive voice!!
A lot of younger R&B cats comin' out can learn somethin' from him about how to make ladies feel their emotion when they sing! His music is definately something you'd wanna play when ur chillin' wit ur girl.
17. Hey Jazzy Jeff if you're checking this out, hook us up wit a beat, we'd appreciate it, peace!
18.
The Mis-education..... was an ace album. Looking 4wrd to this next one
Me too, long time comin', hip-hop needs a strong woman to show these lil' girl hoe mc's some class on how a female m.c. should lead, her and Queen Latifah are my favorite female m.c.'s of all time!
19. Right now I'm listening to "The Best Of Keith Sweat: Make You Sweat", he's the LL of R&B!
20. Wow Dr.Dre's "Chronic" didn't go gold in its 1st year of release, but then went on to sell 6 million CD's, I don't think record sales are like these days, if people don't buy the album in the 1st few months then it won't sell 'cause "Born To Reign" actually sold more in its 1st year than "The Chronic". I thought "Life After Death" sold a lil' more than "Big Willie Style" but it's great to see Will #1 on one list! A list about the top 1000 list over 6 years is a lil' ridiculous though, if you wanna do a top 1000 list it should span for about 25 years! I think "Big Willie Style" would be at least ranked lower than Outkast's "Speakerboxx/Love Below" 'cause that album sold 11 million copies to date and is still in the top 200 on the Billboard Charts.
21. I was listening to the tracks on this album's stream, a different sound from Jill Scott, I like artists that push the envelope, I hope her album does well! Yeah I gotta agree wit y'all that 3rd track called "Whatever" is bangin'!
22. Thanks for the shout out! There's so many topics on this forum, I just realized about this one now, congradulations Wild Child, keep on posting! :thumb:
23. Like dental work, every rapper wants to floss Rhyme clever words then your rap won't be considered soft
24. The only reason why Britney sells records is 'cause of stupid teeny bopper guys that don't know a damn thing about good music buy her albums! The only type of movies that Britney would be good at is porno movies 'cause all the only talent that she has is showing off her ass! :ditto:
25.
I'm not much for "jazzy" titles but how about "Still F.P."?
That sounds like Dr. Dre when he came back wit "Still D.R.E." as his 1st single off "Chronic 2001" back in '99. It should be "Still J.J.F.P." though!
