1. I know there are some 2Pac fans in here. For those of u who wanted 2 see the 1997 documentary Thug Angel, K-Mart has it in their electronic section for $4.99. I got the VHS when it 1st came out. For big 2Pac fans, u'll find it interesting...4 others, don't bother. It's an hour and half of mostly interviews from Bay area people from the Hip-Hop scene but it also has some Suge interviews AND some bonus footage of 2pac here and there. For those of u who like the early Deathrow era, they also have a DVD called Welcome To Deathrow that features the inside story about Deathrow Records came 2 be. At times it's a lil' slow, but it's interesting hearing the story from the mouths of former artists and the people behind it. It has lots footage of the artists working behind the scenes. It's also priced at $4.99. I only got half way thru' cuz mine started skipping (going 2 exchange it 2morrow).
2. I've seen him spin. He's just laidback and in his own world 4 the most part. I wish i could have watched him longer than 2 hours or so.
3. I've never doubted them and even if FP's new album isn't any better than Born To Reign, i'll still be happy.
4. The album has dropped and these guy will remind that G-funk is still relevant and easily seperate themselves from your average "gangsta rappers"...especially since they dont' really exist anymore. Anyways, as a straight Hip-Hop fan, i like this album alot. My only ?uestion is why Warren G didn't produce anything on the album. Nearly every beat is dope and their chemistry is perfect but i think Warren G could have made the album a lil' more solid. Here's a kinda-old MTV.com article on them. ---- Snoop's 213 Get Wrong Number While Doing Things The Hard Way 05.11.2004 213's Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Warren G Photo: MTV News "All of us coming together and putting our projects on the back burner to make this happen is only going to enlighten our solo careers." — Snoop Dogg NEW YORK — It's been long understood that Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Warren G wanted to come together and represent for their Long Beach 'hood in a West Coast supergroup called 213. But it's been so long since they first talked about it that Long Beach no longer has that area code. Such telecommunication barriers have not put the project on hold. The three showed up in New York on Monday to make everything official and announce the July 20 release of the debut 213 album, The Hard Way. Though this will be the first album released under the 213 name, the three hip-hop heavyweights formed the crew when they were young pups growing up in Southern California — before producer Dr. Dre discovered Snoop and birthed the G-Funk era. "[We] started in like the late '80s, early '90s, just around the neighborhood putting it down," Warren G explained. "I was on the turntables, Snoop was rappin', Nate was singin'. We kept striving and striving and striving." The three have been recording songs for 213 over the past year. They originally were scheduled to release the album on Geffen Records, but the trio recently struck a deal with TVT Records. Snoop sees the 213 project as a chance for the group to bring West Coast hip-hop back to the masses. "Music right now is missing a sound like this," he said. "All of us coming together and putting our projects on the back burner to make this happen is only going to enlighten our solo careers. And it's fun to do because we're homeboys and always dreamed of it. So why wait till we're 37 or 50 years old and no one wants to hear us anymore? Why not do it when we in our prime?" The group did use West Coast producers like Battlecat but also people like Kanye West and DJ Hi-Tek, both of whom hail from the Midwest. Warren G did not produce any of the songs on the album, he said, because he wanted to concentrate on his rhymes. Maybe 213 are taking a cue from the success of 50 Cent and G-Unit, because the name of the first single from The Hard Way is "Groupy Luv." G-Unit have a song on their Beg for Mercy called "Groupie Love." Snoop explained the concept behind the single. "We're trying to find groupie love. That means beautiful girls who want to become video stars aspiring to do something with their careers. We can give you that upliftment. We can get you in the video." When asked if 213 would tour, Nate Dogg deadpanned, "How else do you think we'll get groupie love?" The members then explained, more seriously, that they plan on mounting a small tour starting June 11 that'll see them doing a medley of solo hits and new 213 songs. —Joseph Patel
5.
Y would G Unit go looking for new talent at Soundclick!
Cuz they don't have any of their own.
6.
Hes this british guy thats has a show on mtv called the lick
The MTV part explains it all. That means he's brainwashed in2 talking about people who have no talent b4 he plays their over-done music videos that make young people thing trash-music is good.
7. Right now i'm listening 2 the new MC Hammer promo single for "Full Blast"/"Sunshine." As i waz driving home i waz listening 2 213's new album "The Hard Way."
8. Man, i can't wait 4 her 2 comeback. It's been a loooooong time comin.' Somebody needs 2 show us that successful music dosen't have 2 suck.
9. Where'd u hear of the song? Will did do a track with Mary but he said it may be the 1st single for his upcoming album....which drops around Christmas.
10. JJ+FP's "Summertime" is THEE summertime song. Still fresh after all these years. That song has more perservatives than Twinkies.
11. I've seen a good bit of groups live. Most Hip-Hop groups/artists can't bring the same energy or clarity that their songs do on their albums. Here's a list of the best performers i've seen live in person. JJ+FP, TLC, Kris Kross, Black Eyed Peas, Wyclef Other notable acts, Pharsyde, De La Soul, City High, Destiny's Child, Jorunalist, Jermaine Dupri, Musiq. Ms. Jade waz okay but her voice waz just incredibly 2 high and not like on her album. Ludacris...well, let's just say i wanted he show 2 end...and this waz b4 i really didn't like him.
12. I don't follow GQ so i can't say anything. I couldn't care less about it either...ha ha. But i'm happy any time he gets positive attention.
13. I don't think any of us can come up with a good title cuz we havn't heard the album. A title is supposed 2 play off the entire album or stand out song song which can double as an album title.
14. Well, as a performer, it's important 2 please your fans and do all of your singles in the show. "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" and "Boom! Shake The Room" are the kinda trax he'd have 2 perform...unless he dose that stripped down show he's always wanted 2 do with Jeff. I could only see him doing the laidback album songs if they were doing smaller shows for non-commercial audiences.
15. There are some good albums listed there but this list is pure trash...ha ha. The order is all outta wack and there's like 30 albums he missed.
16. Man, this is the ONLY time i'ma talk about skool until a lil' over a week from now (when i start). I'm so freakin' sensitive about the summertime. I have so many traditions and plans that i go thru' every summer. It's my favorite time of the years. Summer 2003 waz incredible 4 me, but shortly after it ended, i got hit with alot of mess, including alot of pain. The entire skool year proved 2 be incredibly painful and huge test...which i think i passed. This summer waz kinda made up 4 everything but there still a bit of emptyness that exists. I'm expecting this upcoming skool year 2 not be 2 much fun either. This summer waz kinda like a short breather 2 give me a small 2nd wind. Hopefully alot of things in life will fall in 2 place by next summer. Okay, nomore talking about this stuff 2 me until August 30th.
17. Anyone know if this album made any noise on the charts?? Deathrow's packaging is embarassing 2 his legacy. Crappy artwork (if that's what u wanna call it), bad picture selection...and the music quality. 2Pac (and his mother) would never have wanted that stuff released.
18. I used 2 say he had down syndrome...that waz kinda ignorant tho.' I like this positive new style...but i also watched some old videos when i bought the Bad Boy 10 Anniversary CD on the bonus DVD and his goofy dancing and big smiles made me kinda apprieciate how he wazn't taking himself 2 serious.
19. :eek4: That title change is tragic!! Is that legit?! Where's the source?!?
20. "Back To Basix" is a Kid 'N Play song. I have the 12" single.
21. I think this post should get deleted. It's just serving as dead weight on the board.
22. That's...ummmm.....embarassing! I only checked that page, waz there alot of posts there?
23. Thanx 4 the info. That list is great...lots of talented artists w/ good songs and videos on there!!
24. I have a pic of Kel Spencer. I'll see if i can scan it in a day or 2. Kel's website has been down for months. I e-mailed Kel's camp a few days ago...i'm hoping 2 get a reply. If they don't get back 2 me, the e-mail addresses may not be current cuz b4 they were always responding 2 me last summer....not 2 mention hookin' me up with his single/EP.
