1. WELCOME 2 DA BOARD!! Every album is different. Some people drop their single months b4 their album comes out...some only a week or 2. It just depends on how completed the album is and how they plan on marketing. Tamia dropped her single "Officially Missing You" the summer of 2003, it did well amoungst R-N-B fans, but the album didn't come out until April of 2004. That's a loooooong gap!!
2. I went with the Candyhill Remix. I like the original, but i can see why it didn't make an album....it seems a lil' outta place but it waz perfect for Greatest Hits. This past year, the TLAC Remix has been growing on me. It's similar 2 the original version but the production level has been stepped up.
3. I waz just bein' goofy in that other post. I think The Slim Shady LP is dope. The Marshall Mathers LP is okay...but after that, i just think he just stopped caring. I think "Lose Yourself" waz a good song. Positive message and defintly something i could relate 2. MC Hammer disses Eminem in his new single...it's kinda funny. The song is done old skool style on the lyric tip so even if people hear the song, they probably won't understand it just like they didn't understand "So Fresh."
4. Alicia Keys "Diary"...well, i'm actually watching video. Before that, they aired Maxwell's "Fortunate"...another great song.
5. There's never any plans for JJ+FP stuff...other than possible tours and colaboz on their solo albums. There would have 2 be some kinda buzz about them and then a bunch of paperwork done since Jive and JJ+FP aren't affiliated.
6. There's actually a music video compilation VHS that videos by all of them on it. I'm thinkin' that's what u might be thinkin' of. I've seen it b4 on the internet. It's from 1988 or 1989.
7. Leave it 2 Da Prince 2 take a stupid decision by Puffy and turn it in2 a success. I wish this waz on video.
8. One time i waz in a public bathroom and desperatly needed some toilet paper. A D12 CD appeared outta no where. I waz about 2 used the CD insert in place of the toilet paper...but then i realized i didn't dare want a D12 CD insert 2 come in contact with my butt cheeks. Then a copy of The Eminem Show magically appeared....so i used that. :speechless:
9. I think Fabolous and Jadakiss are really outta place on the song. I think LL Cool J, Fresh Prince, Run, Queen Latifah, Chuck D, or MC Lyte would have gave better raps 2 it. I guess u could compare this 2 2001's "What's Going On" except this song is better...no offense 2 those people on that track, which is very good itself. I'm hoping there's like and EP or single coming out with different versions. It's hard only seeing some of those artists singing the chorus. The song is called "Wake Up Everybody." The group is Wake Up Artist Coalition.
10.
LL brings hope for all the ol' school mcs, this might not be his best album, but he's still miles ahead of the rest of the game.
Definitly!! There waz a time in Hip-Hop where current album didn't have 2 be the artists' best, but it waz still a great album. Now it seems like current commercial guys are just dropping average (or bad) albums all the time with no pressure 2 do any better. What kinda artist is that.
11. I used 2 love Eminem when he 1st came out. But as his career went on, his creative and witty lyrics seems 2 take the back seat 2 his showbiz gimmicks and overall stupidity. I think he dose have talent, but i don't think he uses it nearly as often as he did when he came out. I think D12 is pure garbage. Eminem clearly shines on all the stuff i've heard from them and the other guys are just really sloppy rappers with crappy lyrics. Eminem actually sounds better on "How Come" than he dose on his solo stuff. Maybe he should record 1 and 2 verse songs from now on. I like Dr. Dre, but he hardly ever releases anything. And i waz dissapointed in the late 90's after he waz like "gangsta rap is dead...gangsta rap is wack" but then he recorded and album where half of the material waz so-called gangsta. Aftermath isn't that great of a label in my opinion. They couldn't put out Rakim's album and Truth Hurts waz the only good act i heard from them. Other than Eminem and Truth Hurts, what have we heard from Aftermath since they started in 1996?!? When we are dissing artists like 50 Cent, it's simply cuz they make awful music. There's so much talent and skillz out there, but that stuff often never makes it on the charts.
12. I think part of FP's success and his remaining down 2 earth is becuz he has the Too Damn Hype posse helping him out on all affiars. I honestly think that waz one of his smartest moves in his career...keeping home and friends close by.
13. I waz working 2nite (at the mall) and i saw 2 14 year old boys walking around with G-Unit shirts on. 1st off, they looked some some cheap shirts, no design or creativity 2 them. Anyways, i just wanted 2 walk up 2 them and smack them in the head. Then i'd ask them what's wrong with them and walk them down 2 the music store and load their arms up with JJ+FP, LL, Run-DMC, Eric B. + Rakim, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and Brand Nubian CDs. I'd tell them 2 buy them and stop growing up being suburban white kids who think that they hardcore and foolin' people with their cheap-lookin', oh-so-gangsta G-Unit shirts. What the heck dose Gurilla Unit stand 4 anyway??!?! Maybe it's short for Gurilla-Faced Unit cuz those 3 guys are mad ugly and look like they've been chasin' parked cars all their lives.
14. The funny thing is...Run-DMC spent most of their later years performing for audiences that came 2 see the other headliners where were rock bands and they got mad love. Also, Salt-N-Pepa and Arrested Development did Woodstock and got love from the audience who came 2 see all those rock and alternative groups that were performing. I just think fans of other music styles realize trash when they see it.
15. Heck yes!! It is now time for some good beats, dope lyrics and a reminder of how Hip-Hop music should be like. Here we go y'all...a ride thru' LL's new album (his 11th) thru' the ears of AJ. HEADSPRING - This is the club bangin' new single. Energetic masculin joint that makes u wanna nod ya head. U've heard it...u don't need 2 have me talk about this one anymore. Props 2 Timbaland 4 the beat. RUB MY BACK - Another Timbaland joint here. Pimped out mid-tempo joint. One of the more average songs in my opinion...but it sounds extra dope in a good car stereo. I'M ABOUT TO GET HER - Lyrically cocky joint with R. Kelly on the hook. Teddy Riley produced this track along with Eric Williams (of BLACKstreet). The beat is slick, smooth, and bit crazy. Before the song is over, u are chanting the hook. MOVE SOMETHIN' - Commerical beat with some funky futuristic sounds 2 it. This would be one of the more average trax but it's not like the boring kinda average song. HUSH - This one is CrAzY!! Smooth Hip-Hop/R-N-B track that opens with some beatboxing. The 7 Aurelius group on the hook have this studio enhanced sound that is very cool over the beat. It's just a really uneek song. Just dope!! What would and LL album be without at least one love song?! EVERY SIP - Another Timbaland track with his signature scattered beat mixing traditional Hip-Hop with some crazy sounds. Sweet-voiced R-N-B hook. Cool song about a girl who drags him closer 2 her everytime he learns something new about her. SHAKE IT BABY - This Hip-Hop beat just lets the beat swing like crazy. LL just keeps flowin' makin' people dance on this one. CAN'T EXPLAIN IT - Another "next-level" beat from Timbaland. LL is speakin' 2 the ladies on this one again. The beat has the bumpin' low key beat featuring wind-blowing sound efx and a steady percussion section. The R-N-B vocals are kinda ghostly on it. Traditional clever LL lyrics on this one. FEEL THE BEAT - Just a raw yet slick Hip-Hop joint. This is the song featuring at the end of the "Headsprung" video. Just a dope song where he's flowin' remindin' folks why he's the G.O.A.T. Timbaland outdose himself with this one again. APPLE COBBLER - Aggressive Timbaland beat loaded with chants in the background and on the hook. Definitly a new skool funk track. 1 IN THE MORNING - Old skool meets new skool on this one. Fresh beat and signature LL lyrics for the 2-0-0-4 and 5. This is the kinda Hip-Hop i wait 4. Clean, respectable lyrics filled with clever rhymes and sugject matter. Not 2 mention a flawless flow and multiple flavas all over the album. It offers a lil' bit of the old and a lil' bit of the new. It's good 2 see an emcee who dosen't need 2 change 4 the times, but is timeless.
16. If u liked Kenny Lattimore + Chante Moore's album of covers, then i think it's safe 2 say u will like this one. The new Jill Scott album is out tho'...i promise u will love it...SO GO GET IT at Circuit City where it's $11.99 and comes with a 1-track single featuring a club remix of her new single "Golden." U can usually go in2 stores like FYE and listen 2 the albums thru' their computer datebase. Just don't buy it there cuz they are over priced. Circuit City, Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy are the places 2 go for new releases.
17. I'm listening 2 Jill Scott's new album right now...i waz just listening 2 LL's new one in the car...expect a review from me on the new LL very soon.
18. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! U never hear about FP, LL, Rakim, Run-DMC, and so on getting booed...only commercial artists that suck. Jeff drinkes alot of juice straight from bottles...maybe he waz there. Were any peaches thrown??
19. Vibe's writer is stupid. While i wanted more from this album, they are knocking some of the best trax on it. When an artist/group makes a cover album, u can't exactly hold the same standards against them that u would with a studio album. Either way, Full Circle waz a dope album. I still listen 2 that album from time 2 time, i think it's incredible. I have other friends who are 20-something who got it and loved it. Just cuz an album dosen't have big sales dosesn't meant it's bad. It seems these days that critics only exist 2 stress the bad and ignore the good. If u are a Boyz II Men and a fan of classic R-N-B, give the album a chance, that's all i can say.
20. I've only heard the 1st half of each song on the album and i'm totally in love with it. I'm so happy with this album. Jill's voice is flawless and her spoken word is right on point and making her stand out from the rest of those female artists. Anyone who is a fan of Soul, R-N-B, and grown-folks Hip-Hop needs 2 get this album. She balanced it nicely with some trax by the new ATOJ team, the former cats that made her 1st album incredible and other Philly soul legends like Larry Gold and James Poyser. Just hearing the music moves u. There only an album or 2 that come out a year that make me feel this good. Jazzy Jeff didn't produce or mix any of the album, however, he dose serve as executive producer again. Also, it looks like Pete Kuzma has left ATOJ. He did a decent bit of work on the album but there's no ATOJ affiliation. Ant Bell and P-Nutt are the ATOJ cats representing on the album, Keith, Darren, Andre, Carvin, Vidal, and Ivan rep the old crew...and like i mentioned earlier, Larry Gold and James Poyser, and Pete Kuzma are there 2...oh yeah, and Raphael Saadiq is on there adding new flava. So she has a solid team baking her musically. Don't sleep on this album if this music is right up your ally. Also, go get it at Circuit City this week. It's on sale for $11.99 and if u get it b4 they run out, u'll get a bonus 1-track CD single featuring the Smitty Remix of "Golden" which is a club mix...a lil' bit like a rawwer, faster "In Time" of "The Magnificent." U may have 2 ask the cashier tho' cuz i had 2 say something 2 get it for free.
21. Willennium often goes for about $10 brand new in most music stores where i live. Even if i lost the album and then downloaded it...i wouldn't be able 2 handle it...i'd have 2 own the album itself shortly after losing it.
22. I turned on BET and came across a video by the Wake Up Artist Coalition. The song is called "Wake Up Everybody" and the song is simply amazing. Kinda reminds me of Black Men United's "U Will Know" off the Jason's Lyric soundtrack or "Freedom" off the Panther soundtrack. It's a postive song loaded with tons of artists supporting voting. It features Wyclef, Babyface, Music, Mary J. Blige, Monica, Brandy Claudette Ortez (whatever her name is from City High), Floetry, Jon B., Run, Jahiem, Marques Houston, Faith, Ashanti, Jamie Foxx, Nate Dogg, Missy, Fabolous, and Jadakiss. The song is simply amazing. Check it!!
23. House Party 3 soundtrack feat. Kid 'N Play, Immature, M.O.P., AMG, etc
24. I'm listening 2 Speech's 2002/2000 album "Spiritual People."
25. I saw MTV adversizing the "leak" but i havn't listened 2 it. I'm just headin' out early 2morrow 2 pick it up. All of u going out 2 get it 2morrow (in the US) should try Circuit City 1st, they often have their new CDs for $9.99 (but i didnt' see their advertizment this week). Wal-Mart, Target, and Best Buy usually have similar prices or at least good sale prices.
