  1. I think i've posted this b4, but i think now most of the people on this board will agree with FP 100%. Here's a very short part of the interview he did with Playboy in their December 2001 issue. --- PLAYBOY: What do you think of the hard-edged rap being made now? Could you see yourself doing that kind of music? PRINCE: I have to live as who i am. I create the music that's in my heart. I talk about the things i feel, and i am in a position that a lot of guys aren' in. I don't have to rap for money. I make what i want the way to make it. It's hard for me to outwardly condemn people for trying to feed their families. PLAYBOY: Are you concerned withsome of the messages in these songs? PRINCE: The bottom line is that a lot of people who have been blessed with this forum aren't really smart. I have educated myself beyond a lot of my peers in the rap world, and, more than anything, here's my beef: Iunderstand what you are saying and what you feel, but the world is begger than what you are rapping about. Just rap about more topics in your world. You mean to tell me, all day long, all you do is smoke blunts, have sex and kill people? You never do anything else? You have never one time in your life really liked somebody, never been soft and acted spun-out over some girl? You never sat outside some girl's house hoping she isn't with somebody when she comes home? Let me hear that story. PLAYBOY: Yor're saying that too much rap is one-sided? PRINCE: Absolutely. We were in a village in Mozambique. Jay-Z and Tupac were scribbled on the walls of a shack with no running water and no electricity. Rap music is black America's contribution to the world, and that is who people around the world thing black Americans are. They represent me. I have less of a problem with Eminem. He isreally creative but so far over the top that it's clearly a farce. Eminem isn't trying to make people believe that's really how he lives his life every day. Eminem is silly, having a good time, and he doesn't affect my community. PLAYBOY: Whose work do you most admire? PRINCE: There are alot of guys underground who have skillz, but Jay-Z is the most talented mainstream Hip-Hop lyricist. I just think there are more topics he could explore. He is smart, so i know he will. --- I just like what he says in those few sentences. He totally puts it out there how Eminem really dosen't get 2 him and how Em really isn't representing real Hip-Hop heads or even makes reality based music. He talks about the lack of subject matter in mainstream Rap, which is something nearly everybody falls victim 2 (Nelly, Ja-Rule, Ludacris, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, The Game, G-Unit, Chingy, Lil' Jon). It also shows that he keeps his ear open 2 underground Hip-Hop which i thought is very cool since it has 2 be hard 2 be a huge Hollywood star, family man, and still get down with the non-mainstream Hip-Hop.
  2. JJ+FP - Ring My Bell (DJ Jazzy Jeff's Street Mix)
  3. Thanx!! They need 2 stop using those BWS promo pix tho.' I'm surprised AOL didn't tag it like they usually do.
  4. I don't really think his voice is that different. I just seperate it 2 ways, 1986-1989 and 1990-Present. I think other than that, his flow and overall presence on various track adjusts 2 the subject matter and how he flows over the track. I can rap along 2 any of his stuff...like i said, it's the feeling of the track, not really the deepness of the voice.
  5. I still think Hitch is stupid 4 chaning it's title 2 that instead of "The Last First Kiss." But with this movie, i hope they DO change the title. It just dosen't sound right.
  6. Hmmm....sounds different. Hopefully good-different and not bad-different.
  7. I like the track, but it didn't represent the album. While i think the production could have used and extra push, i like how it waz put 2gether and the lyrics were dope. However, after that, none of the trax really played off it. Dope song, but i don't think i want anything like that only Lost + Found, it's just something he already did.
  8. I just want the album 2 be properly represented. "Willennium" is one of his best albums, but u'd never know by Will 2K, So Fresh, and Freakin' It. "Will 2K" waz good 4 time it waz released, but the song wazn't nearly as good as most of the album...even FP said that in interviews. "So Fresh" waz dope..but only old skool fans would appriciate it, if it got any air play. "Freakin' It" waz a boring song with a cool video that go no play...definitly not a good repersentation of the album. We already have "Switch," the banging club joint. I just want singles 2 give people a taste of all of his sides.
  9. I don't think it's design can be that big of a deal. After all, the cover for the "Switch" single is wack...but it's the song that makes it dope. Same with the message board. If u have real fans talking about real topics, it'll make the simple message board a good place 4 newz. Since they are working on the site, the board may evolve 2 be more.
  10. This is 4 all the Marques Houston and Imx fans. His new video just dropped and its' one of the best R-N-B songs i've heard in months. It's a mid-tempoed retro-soul meets Hip-Hop sound by 2 upcoming producers (i 4get their name but they did 2 track 4 Omarion's album). It also features a rap from Young Rome (aka Jerome "Romeo" Jones). Also, 4 all the Imx fans out there, there is a shot of all 3 of them in the video and their new album is supposed 2 drop next year after Marques' album has finished it's run. The new album drops April 19. Those T.U.G. release dates get bumped back ALOT but i'm hoping they stick with this one. All R-N-B fans should check this track.
  11. I know there are 2 message board topics about Overbrook's message board, but i feel that i won't get heard unless i start a new post. This is just something 4 everyone 2 think about. The new message board is FP's OFFICIAL one. His camp runs that. People are trippin' cuz they don't like the colors...how elementry is that. The reality is, since that is his official board, new people are more likely 2 pop up there then they are here. It's up 2 the hardcore fans 2 welcome those people, make them feel at home, and keep them hooked. Not every new person on that board is gonna come in there saying empty stuff like "he's so hot." If u take a look over there, there's almost none of that. There are some very basic topics like "What's Your Farvorite Song?" but that's cuz the message board is new, it's like 2 days old. What do u expect. That message board over there is his main source of checkin' up on fans, what they think, what they want. This isn't like his board on Colulmbia. This will always be the main message board 4 me, but there is definitly no reason 2 ignore FP's Overbrook board. I think it's important that we embrace that board and help it grow when it comes 2 stictly FP topics. It's not like u can't post the same thing over there that we post on this board here. After all, Jazzy Jeff's board ain't all that, and some of u still pop in over there. Don't sleep on this oppertunity.
  12. Well, FP hasn't given that much info about the album...so they are going on what they know. On top of that, it's a gossipy topic making it hot newz. After all, look at Michael Jackson. They'll ignore any good news about him, but if he dose something weird or has someone file a lawsuit against him, it's all over the place. That's what they do with celebs.
  13. How many times are we gonna make posts like this?!?
  14. Yeah, that looks like the back of Promo. The only difference is that there is more room at the bottom where the credits are.
  15. I got my "Switch" promo CD single in the mail 2day. It dosen't have a cover but it dose have a basic back insert. The back is with with "WILL SMITH" in big black letters (same font as most of the Big Willie Style single covers) with a black box under it with "s w i t c h" in red letters. Here is the tracklisting and credits... --- 1. Album Version 3:17 2. Instrumental 3:15 3. A Cappella 3:15 Written By W. Smith, K. Holland, L. Bennett Produced by Kwame "K 1 Mil" for The Beat Factory/Arlene & Co. Vocal Production by O. Banga for Overbrook Productions www.interscope.com www.willsmith.com www.overbrookent.com Original Version aperas on the forthcoming Will Smith album Lost & Found --- Looks like Omar produced the vocals and Kel Spencer co-wrote some of it. When u listen 2 the instrumental, u can feel how much life FP brings 2 the track, cuz it's not nearly as bangin' without the vocals. The A Cappella version lets u hear the adlibs and vocal efx that are easy 2 overlook in the song. The coolest thing i never noticed waz that in the 1st few bars, there's a vocal track under FP's rap of him screaming the lyrics along with the regular vocals.
  16. DANA DANE - Record Jock This waz my jam back in 1995.
  17. I think that if anyone is a real fan and plans 2 be here alot, they'll go thru' the 'trouble' of registering.
  18. When did FP ever give Eminem props? He never really commented on him until his comment on how disposable his fame was. And i think he called it correctly. People are still supporting Eminem, but his fanbase has altered 4 the worse...just like his music.
  19. Yeah, i loved "Juicy"...other than "Party + Bullsh!+" and "A Bunch of N!$$@s," that waz my 1st taste of Biggie. But when i heard "Big Poppa," i waz like "what is this crap?!?"
