Give an album song a video...
JumpinJack AJ replied to DevilsJim89's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I'm gonna break down it down 4 each album...one for what could have been a really cool video and another for what could have been a really funny video... ROCK THE HOUSE cool video - The Magnificent funny video - Don't Even Try It HE'S THE DJ, I'M THE RAPPER cool video - Here We Go Again funny video - Nightmare On My Street AND IN THIS CORNER... cool video - Numero Uno funny video (THREE WAY TIE) Then She Bit Me, Who Stole My Car, Men of Your Dreams HOMEBASE cool video - I'm All That funny video - U Saw My Blinker CODE RED cool video - Somethin' Like Dis (or Just Kickin' It) funny video - Code Red BIG WILLIE STYLE cool video - Don't Say Nothin' funny video - Candy WILLENNIUM cool video - (THREE WAY TIE) Potnas, The Rain, Who Am I (time-sensitive futuristic video would have been fly) funny video - Willennium Interlude THE MAGNIFICENT cool video - 4 Da Love of Da Game funny video - Know Ur Hood BORN TO REIGN cool video - Act Like U Know funny video - I Gotta Go Home (imagin sped up footage of FP tryna be good and ditch a female for over 3 minutes...ha ha) -
Is it being released in different places or just in the US? If it's only released in the US, u better make sure u'll be able 2 play it through the region coding. I can't stand pre-ordering stuff. With shipping u end up paying more AND u gotta wait for it 2 come 2 your house. Of course, if it's not being released where u live, that's the best way 2 go. I can't wait 2 have the serious in crystal clear DVD format...no commercials or anything. That'll just be heaven!!
-
I can't wait 4 it drop!! Here in the US, that's the usual price for DVD sets. Circuit City always has there new releases on sale the week stuff drops. They prices are also very reasonable...sometimes cheaper. U can go wrong if u go there when it comes out. Keep in mind that if we all go out and get it soon after it comes out, the other seasons will follow quicker and it'll raise the chance of them being released in other parts of the world.

I saw Ray 2nite. It's simply brilliant...AMAZING!! This is one of the best movies in recent years and one of the top best autobiography movies ever made (yes...better than ALI). Jamie Foxx totally broke out in this movie. He's been making moves for years, but this movie establishes him as one of the greatest talents in film (makes u totally forget about Wanda...ha ha). Jamie and this movie better than an Oscar. For those of u who havn't seen it....if u have any interest in Ray Charles and/or old music, check the movie!! I'd like 2 hear the opinions of others who have seen this movie already.

Great!! I waz hoping it would come out just in time for Christmas.

Regular updates, lyrics, a decent selection of photos, complete discography, links that are worth checkin' out, and over all, a proper over-all style. Other sites seem 2 be 2 simple or aimed at a commerical audience. His current site should concentrate strictly on music and Hip-Hop...unless his camp is gonna cover all bases with the site...then seperate them all properly. I'm not picky...i just know what i want. :guru:

New info about Switch and album
JumpinJack AJ replied to Frenetic's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
FP dosen't need collabos loading down his album...his style and talent may seem pretty basic 2 some...but that's really not the case, cuz only certain artists really blend with him. Working with people like Petey Pablo is just so forced that it dosen't makes sense. He dosen't have any talent in the 1st place. Since FP has pretty much total control on this album, the final tracklisting should be interesting. -
I like them both equally. I like that Daphne stepped in a very popular TV show and made the character her own instead of trying 2 act like the previous actress with that part. I think Daphne had a much motherly, wiser edge 2 her spin on the character. Janet waz funnier tho.'

New info about Switch and album
JumpinJack AJ replied to Frenetic's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I'm wit u on that. Maybe they can release a promo version of the album with "Anti-Untalented Co-Star" versions of those songs that only feature FP on the mic. :kekeke: -
JJ+FP - Code Red DE LA SOUL - AOI: Bionix LL COOL J - Mr. Smith THE ROOTS - Do You Want More KRS-ONE - I Got Next PUBLIC ENEMY - He Got Game HEAVY D - Waterbed Hev RUN-DMC - Down With The King These are all newer albums from classic artists, but if i waz stuck with only one of their albums, i think the newer stuff would hold over longer with me. After all, in most cases i owned the older albums longer and have heard them 100 times more.

New info about Switch and album

I think what he's trying 2 say in that statement is that there won't be many songs like "Miami" which are overly commercial and aimed just 4 airplay. FP would never go gangsta...y'all should know better. -
Yeah, definitly no need 2 do any more Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. But u can expect 2 hear some more DJ Jazzy Jeff + Fresh Prince stuff on the next 'Will Smith' album.

This has already been posted...but THANX!

Go on bigted...i feel u on most of that.

I don't have their greatest hits album but i've heard everything on it. It's a nice walk down Hip-Hop history with their hits and singles. I did get the De La Mixtape awhile back. I wish there wazn't any of the album music, but it's still a good compilation. The remixes and non-album trax are the reason i got it. I love that track they did with DJ Honda which is on it. My friend and i use 2 listen 2 that album back in the day but i never heard that song. The remix of "Stakes Is High" and electronica/club mix of "Me, Myself, And I" are really good 2. Smart investment in good music.
-
Yeah, that album isn't bad. I remember liking Ooh La La, My Soul, Stick 'Em, Can U Dig It, Homeboy, and the single version/radio version of C U When U Get There. I also have the "C U When U Get There" CD single w/ remixes.

Lloyd Banks is deemed the lryical one of G-Unit. That statement sounds like on oximoron 2 me. I think the beat is okay...tuning out the rap dose make it better.
-
Yeah, when artists like De La drop albums, even they aren't the best work they've done, i'm just more than happy 2 get my hands on some quality music. I still urge y'all 2 check "Bionix"...it's far better than "The Grind Date"...u can thank me later.
-
How can u say that?!? KRS-One would never put out trash like Big Pimpin,' Hey Papi, Change Cloths and all that other crap. Jay-Z is one of the most commercial artists ever in rap. Anyone who has talks about bling in 40% or more of their music is commercial.
-
My friend is the biggest Aerosmith fan and during that 2000/2001 time period they were touring 2gether. If i would have known that i would have went with her when she saw them. Run-DMC's performing skillz never slid. Like JJ+FP, they are constantly on top of their game.

YEAH!! There's a stirring his music career...it's about time we get a taste of something. -
I didn't think "On Fire" waz grimy at all. I think it's the exact opposite. It's a good radio-friendly Hip-Hop beat 4 the clubs.

Did Time just stop ?

That pic is from the Willennium era. -
The album opens with an unnecessary interlude that u would expect from Bad Boy. It has all the guys on a conference phone call talking about being signed 2 Bad Boy. Here's a quick review of the album. Been So Long is a smooth comeback track. I kinda wanted a stronger opening track than this tho.' Hot 2nite is the ultra-slick dance joint and 1st single. The fellas are just spitting game the ladies on this one. Sexy Lady is a lady-chasin' track. Mid-tempo, light-urban bump feel 2 this one. Last Time is one of those songs where the guys are sick of wrong-doing females and just don't wanna relationship with anyone. I can releate 2 this one. All On You is a typical lightweight club banger. It's basically a Bell Biv DeVoe track. Ralf co-wrote and is on the background vocals...but BBD runs the show on this track. Wildest Dreams is a fly track. It's one of those sweet-sounding, feel good songs u'd expect from the guys. I really like this one. It's funny cuz on NE's last album, the trax produced by Puffy were the worst ones (IMO) but this one waz produced by him and Mario Winans (we know he did most of the work...ha ha). Start Turnin' Me On is actually produced by former A Touch of Jazz producers Andre Harris and Vidal Davis...Ryan Toby of City High who also worked on a few Big Willie Style trax co-wrote the song. This track is a radio-ready commercial song. It's strange hearing this kinda track from the ex-ATOJers. Love Again is a slightly bouncy commercial track. Good lyrics...just the same kinda sound the rest of the album has tho.' One Love (Interlude). Song-styled interlude which has someof the best production on the album...2 bad it's just and interlude. That's Why I Lied has some creative subject matter...similar commercial sound tho.' Come Home With Me is a great love ballad. Leave it up 2 Johnny Gill 2 shine on this one. Best Man has that late-90's choppy over-produced feel. The sound has been done b4, but like all the other trax, NE turns them in2 something more than what they are. Re-Write The Memories...WHOOOO!! This is what the album should be centered around. Traditional NE vocals...beautiful R-N-B track. Reminds u of stuff like "Can You Stand The Rain" and "I'm Still In Love With You"....this is the sooowng (make sure 2 pronounce the "w" in your head when reading that word). Newness is another track that is a better repersentation of NE for the 2-0-0-4. Dope song. Feelin' It takes u back 2 the slickly produced uptempo stuff. Real good song tho.' They just 2 take the synthisizers outta this beat. Leave Me ends the album off on a slow ballad kinda song. Sad song tho'. Over all, New Edition is back and that could never be a bad thing. The grit and rawness that Bobby Brown brings is missed tho.' NE can stand without him on the album, but he definitly brings a flava that is missed on this album. The guys still got skills. Their different vocal styles still blend and the raps sprinkled thru' out the album are gems on most of the songs. Bad Boy didn't mess with their sound or image which makes me very happy. There aren't any signs of Bad Boy artists on the album or their in-house producers taking over the music. The guys of NE usually write more of their own material but none of it sounds like stuff they wouldn't sing. My only main complaint is that the production could be much thicker and solid. All music sounds good but they should have taken the beats 2 the next level. 112 can have these beats...NE deserves better. Jimmy Jam + Terry Lewis (their main producers for many years) did the majority of the album i think so it's not a producer switch thing. I'm hoping this album dose well, springs off alot of singles, rejuvinates their solo careers and leads 2 more NE albums without the 8 year gaps. 1996's "Home Again" album waz classic...at least this 2004 album keeps the ball rollin.' NE is back y'all!!

2Pac has tons of material laying around. There waz alot of stuff he recorded during the Thug Life / Me Against The World era which made up most of "R U Still Down (Remember Me?). When he 1st got on Deathrow, he recorded a huge amount of material. Then, when he wanted 2 get off the label, he recorded albums worth of stuff just 2 fulfill his contract and get off the label. The bad thing about that is, alot of the material comin' out wazn't 2 the level of quality u would expect from 2Pac. Listen 2 Me Against The World, his most personal album. Then listen 2 Until The End of Time and Better Dayz. There are some stand-out tracks, but the albums aren't full. The newly produced music put under his vocals aren't on a production level he would have them meet. Alot of the better trax like "My Block" are just remixed versions of songs he already put out. There's also a tons of trax he did 4 other people's albums that never got alot of attention that can be remixed and re-released. Check albums but Nate Dogg, Too Short, MC Breed, Spice 1, Richie Rich, Smooth, and so on. These trax aren't new in anyway. I went thru' a phase between 1996 thru 1999 where i bougth all kinds of 2Pac bootlegs and much of the material being released is on all those old bootlegs. I wanna hear some new stuff from Foxy Brown. She waz ill when she 1st came out. Her debut album waz dope. Her 1st big appearance waz on LL's "I Shot Ya (Remix)"...i couldn't believe the stuff she waz spitting along side the likes of LL, Keith Murray, Fat Joe, and all them. I think her Chyna White album waz kinda wack tho',...she sounded like Lil' Kim (who i think has no talent) and the lyrics just didn't impress me. I heard half of Broken Silence and liked it and anticipated Ill Na Na 2: The Fever but Def Jam screwed the up the way they screwed up Montell Jordan's self-titled 2002 album which is incredible (but never released in the US). I hope she breaks out with some good stuff this time around. Of all the newer female emcees, her, Queen Pen, and Eve are the only ones i respect. Trina, Lil' Kim, Remy...i can't even bare 2 listen 2 their stuff.
