  1. I think it's funny how some people don't age. Alfonso is one of those people.
  2. Jay-Z had nuttin' 2 do with "Just Cruisin.'" FP and Nas wrote that song, which he is credited for. FP even talked about it in The Source, he wazn't trying 2 keep it secret ghostwriter style. "The Rain" is amazing tho.' JJ+FP fans don't underrate it, and i think if it waz a single, NOBODY would underrate it. Well maybe all the people who bought Encore.
  3. When u are a very sucessful artist, Colubia lets u do what u want. When u are not in the top 10, they control alot of things. Look at Big Willie Style. They pushed for what singles were chosen and how it waz promoted, which worked 4 the time. With Willennium, JJ+FP had lots of control over the album (obviously, it waz dope and they were executive producers). Columbia just handeled promotion, which is what makes dope albums misinterperted by the publice and earning it sales that could have been bigger.
  4. U are probably talking about Jason Nevins' South Beach Dub. There's and actual remix (not Dub) with the full verses and not just vocal samples. While the beats a similar, the South Beach Dub is actually a lil' better than the one used 4 the remix.
  5. Everytime there is a musical event with an disclosed appearance by an artist, someone makes a post thinking it's gonna be FP premiering "Switch." I think we should stop guessing with stuff like that cuz it's probably not gonna happen. I have a feeling FP isn't gonna try 2 catch us off-guard.
  6. LFO has nothing 2 do with the point i'm trying 2 make. I'm saying, why listen 2 an artist when u gotta complain about them...that's silly. I don't like 2 defend the music i listen 2, so i think it's funny 4 someone 2 say they are listening 2 an artist but then saying how they used 2 be talented.
  7. I always thought "Miami" waz the weakest track on BWS and one of the weakest songs he's ever done. I waz amazed and disappointed when i 1st saw the video since there were so many other songs on that album. Remember Columbia wanted 2 keep outting out that jiggy Trackmasters stuff. The 'Miami Mix' is the best version of it...alot more energy 2 it and better production (by the legendary Miami Sound Machine). There's also a club remix of it which is very much your basic club mix.
  8. I agree totally. They should have stuck 2 the original plan of releasing "Afro Angel" as a single. The production is flawless and very musical (not your average boom tap boom boom tap). When an artist like FP makes a song like that, that really means something, they usually do well. That song waz exactly what he career needed at the time (and still could use).
  9. Stop complaining about artists who might have some talent like 50 Cent or Eminem but don't show any proof that they really have any. Why not listen 2 artists who have talent 2 spare and show it on a regular basis. BLACK EYED PEAS - Fly Away
  10. U can't release singles intended 4 a smaller audience without a bigger single 2 serve as the A-side gaining more success. "Will 2K" did well but waz too time sensitive, "So Fresh" waz 4 the old skool fans, it didn't get play or support, "Freakin' It" didn't get play or support either. The media and Big Willie Style fans totally turned their back on him. Unless he waz releasing on of the top 3 songs on the album as a single, it waz wise 2 just let it go.
  11. Arrested Development makes music for the mind, body, and soul. They are one of the best things 2 happen 2 Hip-Hop in the '90's. I personally think they are just as important as Public Enemy, but without the "in-your-face" factor.
  12. I don't think "Uuhhh" would have been a good choice. It's 2 straight forward...not exactly a promoting-monster of a song. The people that buy albums 2 make them successes probably wouldn't be feelin' it.
  13. No, they weren't edited copies. I waz at a store where music buffs go...i've never seen anyone under the age of 18 in that place. Then again, i'd assume that people who actually think Ja-Rule is talented would also be stupid enuff 2 accidentally buy an edited version of a CD. (No offense Ja fans)
  14. Here are their individual websites. I checked a song on Ladybug's site and it's dope. Here they are... BUTTAFLY www.cherrwine.net DOODLEBUG www.ceeknowledge.com LADYBUG www.ladybugmecca.com
  15. I waz in a music store 2day which has a section with previously owned stuff. They already had like 3 copies of Ja-Rule's new album. That's really sad if u find a brand new album in the previously owned section. On a JJ+FP related note, they had a copy of BWS, Willennium, and Code Red for $1.99 each and 2 copies of B2R for $4.99. It waz tempting 2 buy copies for my car (even tho' i have burned copies 4 the car). Maybe next time.
  16. I never heard it on the radio and i only saw the video on TV twice. It wazn't a hit at all. Columbia thought that since they had a huge with "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" that it would be a good idea 2 always market him with radio-friendly party trax 4 the pop fans. I think even the pop fans had enuff of that sound after "...Jiggy..." and "Miami." If they would have pushed 4 a real song with substance 2 be released, it probably would have taken the album further. "Freakin' It" waz originally supposed 2 be the 1st single of "Willennium" but since the album waz droppin' in November and the end of the year waz approaching, they went with "Will 2K" which waz a decent hit...but disposable after New Years. "Afro Angel" waz originally supposed 2 be one of the singles. I think that would have been a better choose and a better repersentation of FP. Columbia waz only giving people one side of him...which got old fast. Showing his other sides (the more important ones) would have taken his music further during the past 2 albums...at least that's what i think.
  17. I think most of the people here agree that "The Rain" and "Act Like You Know" are amongst the best songs of his solo career. They aren't underrated at all...most of us love 'em.
  18. "Da Butta" has a very boring beat that's been done b4. Lil' Kim has zero talent...but FP is good on it. 1 good quality out of 3 is why most of us aren't feeling that track. It waz produced by Kay-Gee who, at the time, waz still in Naughty By Nature, who produced most of their best beats. He could have given FP something much better than that. "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" is a fly party song, the sample is incredible and the carefree and fun lyrics are exactly what u need when starting a party. It dosen't stand up next 2 his better stuff, but it's still a great party track.
  19. No way, "Ring My Bell" is dope!! It's always been one of my favs and waz a sizable hit. I love the lyrics and the production is great (not 2 mention the video). This isn't a JJ+FP song, but i think "Miami" is overrated. It's a pure party/club/dance song. There's nothing wrong with that, i still like the song, but ALOT of commerical fans and even FP fans really love this song. The beat is so boring and disposable. The lyrics and subject matter are just silly. I can't believe the song did as well as it did and that they chose it as BWS's 3rd single/video. That waz my least favorite track on BWS from the 1st listen.
  20. Yeah, Charlie Mack and JJ+FP were close b4 the big fame hit. He waz friends with FP b4 JJ tho.' Up until about 2 years ago, Charlie Mack waz still FP's bodyguard. He just wanted 2 settle down with his family and start his own projects which are tightly knit the community.
  21. I stayed home. Da fam came over 2 my place so i didn't even have 2 leave the house. My and my cousin caught Wayne's World 2 on Comedy Central...that's the most eventful thing about my day. Other than that, i just learned lines 4 the next show.
  22. I've heard the song on the radio but i haven't seen the video. I thought her 1st single "Goodies" waz alright, but the Lil' Jon beat has been done 2 death, and her vocals are kinda light-weight. After the 10th listen, the song waz pretty boring...not 2 mention Petey Pablo's wack verse. I think her new single is a bit better and i'll be sure 2 keep my eyes open 4 the video.
