  1. We already know that there are new JJ+FP trax on the next album tho.'
  2. I wonder if that swing came from da south?
  3. I have 2 friends who got the album and they both think it sucks. One of them likes everything he's done in the past and she admits that it's a pretty weak album. My other friend is in2 alot of rock, punk, and alternative type stuff but he'll give anything an honest listen and dose like some Hip-Hop/Rap. He said he thought it was awful.
  4. Thanksgiving is based off the event of the early American settlers surviving the 1st winter. Native Americans helped them thru' it by showing them some of the techniques when it came 2 cooking and survival. It is an American holiday, but the concept is something everyone should appriciate and reflect on.
  5. This would be the newest in a series of posts that are just stupid.
  6. I wazn't insulting the award show, it's just that nobody really respects award shows. They are all silly. How can one award show represent the minds of fanbase one movie and music fans?!? Just notice that the more respected award shows are hosted by people like David Letterman and Whoppie Goldberg. The rest of hosted by fly-by-nite talent. FP has gotten 2 big 2 do award show hosting.
  7. That cover is beautiful. The style of the cover reminds of of FP "Just The Two of Us" book. If i find it at a decent price, i may pick it up when i'm a lil' better off financially.
  8. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! Nuttin' like NOT having 2 go 2 work or skool and overeating. This is definitly the time 2 reflect on all the good things we have in life and stop worrying about what we don't have. As always, i wake up in the morning and throw on "Ain't No Place Like Home."
  9. U know i'll be picking it up the day it drops.
  10. Digable Planets aren't really that much like ATCQ. Digable Planets kinda served as the leaders of Acid Jazz (Hip-Hop + Jazz). I think ATCQ were more straight Hip-Hop with Jazz samples and influnces. DP had this laid back, sometimes hippieish approach 2 their music. All 3 of them were emcees but they also dipped in2 some spoken word poetry type stuff. The music waz about everyday life and occasionally social issues. I think they appeared on Guru's 1st Jazzmatazz album. Their 2nd album didn't have as much Jazz influence but it waz still dope none the less. "Where I'm From" and "9th Wonder" were their other bigger hits. They are definitly worth checkin' out if u like early Tribe and De La stuff...but they are really in a class all their own. I know Tim is a fan of them as well.
  11. No...no half-naked guys in the videos. Freedom wore tear his shirt off tho'...he had the kinda body u'd wanna show off. "Gonna Make U Sweat" had Zelma lipsyncing 2 Martha Walsh's vocals (which lead 2 a lawsuit), Freedom just ripped his rhymes while C+C played around with the special efx in the video. "Things That Make You Go Hmmmm..." waz probably my favorite. It waz a black and white video that played perfect off the hilarious lyrics 2 the song. C+C put out quality videos 4 the time. It waz Ace of Base that had fly songs with mad cheezy music videos.
  12. I don't think FP is interested in doing stuff like that anymore. When u get 2 a certain point in your career where u are so huge, u don't wanna take steps back 2 host a silly award show. He did it in the early/mid-90's 2 help get his acting career bigger but other than that, he isn't down with that. If he'd get his single out in time, he could perform on it tho'!!
  13. No offense newbies....but post the sources where u get your newz from. I know that it says it's from a tabloid trash magazine, but i wanting 2 know what news publication would write about something in magazine like that!! It's obviously fake tho'...all the news in magazines like that. Besides, FP has sided with Michael Jackson. A few months ago there waz that article where FP said MJ has got 2 be the least sexual person he's ever met and that he thinks he's innocent.
  14. Their website is www.lifesavas.com. They are signed 2 Quannum Projects (www.quannum.com)
  15. Don't spit on Hip-Hop's name by calling them Hip-Hop albums. They are Rap...just Rap. They aren't puttin' anything from real Hip-Hop culture in2 their music.
  16. If i get some free time 2nite, i'll try 2 post related links on the group.
  17. 2gether they are gonna create masterpeices...mark my words!! Where'd u get this info from?
  18. That's debatable. I wouldn't consider that a rock/rap song tho.' "Black Suits Comin'" is the only rock/rap track he's ever really done. "Will 2K' is a party track.
  19. I freaked when i read this!! I waz on a Digable Planets trip and waz looking up info on them 2nite. Hip-Hop heads will remember them from their 2 classic album "Reachin'" and "Blowout Comb." They are best known for their debut single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like That)." They were one of the most creative and talented Hip-Hop acts of the 90's, mixing Hip-Hop, with Jazz and poetic rhyme schemes. Anyways, while i waz turned off by Ishmal's Cherry Wine "Bright Black" (which wazn't so bad last time i listened 2 it in stores), i found out Doodlebug changed his stage name 2 Cee Knowledge and released a solo album in Philly featuring a track with Mecca aka Ladybug (of DP). Well, while i waz on his site, i waz reading news that Digable Planets reunited for the 1st time in 9 years 2 perform a show and are thinkin' about more touring and a 3rd album!! First the Fugees and now Digable Planets...Hip-Hop dose have a chance!!!
  20. I waz goin' thru' my club music 2nite and i've been listening 2 C + C Music Facotry the last hour or so. I waz wondering if anyone rememebers them. I'm sure the 20-somethings have something 2 say about them since they were EVERYWHERE in the early 90's. Robert Clivilles and David Cole masterminded the sound my melding Club, Techno, Hip-Hop, Soul, with a dash of Pop and Rock. Street rapper Freedom and R-N-B/Dance singer Zelma Davis (along with the legendary Martha Wash) provided as the perfect vocalist 2 propel the group 2 superstardom dropping hit's like Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now), Here We Go, Things That Make You Go Hmmmmmm.., Just A Touch of Love and then regrouping in the mid-90's for their 2nd album with the hits Do You Wanna Get Funky and I Found Love. I wish their waz club music like this these days...i just think they were amazing. David Cole died in the mid-90's after some spinal disease. Robbi-Rob kept pushing on by producing 4 others but never got the C + C name off the ground with yet another line up. Freedom dropped a solo album which wazn't that great and flooped, he then shaved his head and went back 2 his original hood 2 regroup and do underground Hip-Hop again, Zelma struggled 2 release a solo album 4 years which ultimatly didn't cause and hype. Robbie-Rob did get out that MVP album which got some decent success last year and produced for Stagga-Lee but politics kept his album from coming out as well. Anyways, back 2 the good old days. Who waz down with C + C Music Factory back in the day?!
  21. I'll give anything a listen but Ja-Rule and Eminem have just proven themselves over and over again 2 be jokes 2 me. Eminem waz an edgy, creative, witty emcee in the late 90's but since then his music has been on a downward spiral down the garbage disposal. His 2 newest singles didn't impress me at all. Ja-Rule had some gritty hype about him which waz gone the second he released "Holla Holla." He did a few good remixes and singles early in his career but overall his music has been insanely uncreative and disposable. It's easy 2 4get nearly every single he's released. I'll give them a listen in a record store sometime soon, but Ja-Rule and Eminem have nothing 2 do with true Hip-Hop. That's what De La Soul, Talib Kweli, Lifesavas, Mos Def, Shock G, and KRS-One are for.
