'Best Of' Albums Not So Great These Days
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Yeah, alot of"Best of..." collections are just business moves these days. Since labels are so evil, they are quick 2 drop artists once they have one lack luster album (like Born To Reign). So the label will put out the Greatest Hits disc just 2 make money off them one more time and/or fulfill a record contract. That's what happened with FP, Mandy Moore, and Jon B. They left their Sony labels so next thing u know they have greatest hits albums. Jon B only had 3 albums...Mandy Moore had 4. At least they were smart enuff 2 load each of their album up with all the singles they released. Jon B's had 2 unrelased songs...so there waz something new 2 it. Mandy Moore's had a DVD with ALL of her music videos as a part of the package, which i think waz a very cool idea. What kills me is those Millennium Collections that only have like 10 trax on them. Those are just pathetic, but i do have a few of those. They should work with the label and artist 2 load the CD up and give them proper album covers. -
Let's chill with the "legend" talk. He's only been doing this stuff for 2 years. And personally, the new stuff i've heard isn't cutting it. And i after buying his 1st album, i never listen 2 it.

There hasn't been any newz of when the video would drop...only that the CD promo waz distributed 2 DJs and radio stations.

JASON MRAZ - Curbside Prophet '04 "i'm just a curbside prophet with my hand in my pocket and i'm waiting for my rocket 2 come"
-
Yeah, i'll lose what respect i did have 4 him. I thought he waz wack when he came out. His sloppy flow, annoying voice, and Bad Boy Records image. However, looking back on alot of his singles, they were kinda fun when it came 2 party pop stuff. I don't think hardly any of his music waz really any good tho.' When he came back with the new style, i respected the steps he made when it came 2 cleaning up his subject matter and not cussing. While i would never call him one of rap's best, i thought he waz finding his way in the music. If he turns his back on all that, i'll just shake my head in disappointment. On top of that, that whole G-Unit camp has the most meaningless, careless, immature, ignorant music ever made. Not 2 mention no real talent in the crew and weakly PROCESSED beats. His new stuff will be even worse than his early commercial stuff.

KANYE WALKS OUT OF A RADIO INTERVIEW
JumpinJack AJ replied to cataboy3's topic in Caught in the Middle
Yeah, editing "white girl" waz really stupid. But Kanye seems like a diva half the time. It makes it hard 2 respect him since he loves 2 talk so much...ha ha. I'm saying all this without checking that link tho.' -
Nice point. One of my friends gets really bent outta shape if anyone says something like "That's gay." He retaliates like "what's that supposed to mean?" Then goes on "you are using that in a negative, offensive way...is what i am offensive to you?" I think he over reacts, but i also know how he has 2 feel that the word has been so bastardized from it's real meaning...being transformed in 2 a general negative word.

Reality Check Puff, nobody cares what u wanna call yourself this month. He announced it in a way that made it seem like a big event. He must think it's still 1998.

BLACK EYED PEAS - Where Is The Love

I wonder what makes him think people care. I still call him Puffy anyway. And he really should have planned that sentence out better..."I felt like the P was getting between me and my fans."

Party Starter 12 Inch..I picked it up today!
JumpinJack AJ replied to Turntable's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Ahhh...i don't have the acapella to the RnB Remix!! Now i gotta go get that!! -
Homebase waz my 1st album. I got it about 3 months after it dropped. The 1st JJ+FP album i really got familiar with waz He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper cuz my friend's sister had it. I got Homebase, He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper, Rock The House, and And In This Corner all in 1991. After then, i got them all on their release dates (except Code Red which i got during the 1st week it dropped).

50 Cent Outta Control Remix with Will Smith
JumpinJack AJ replied to JusticeKnight's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I take it back...this is pretty good. The beat is average...but it personifies how 50 Cent can take an average beat and make an awful song and show FP can take an average beat, and make a dope remix...even tho' someone just used an acapella and instrumental 2 make it. Nice work, i'm impressed...and this will go on a mixCD that i bump in my car in the next week or so! -
50 Cent Outta Control Remix with Will Smith
JumpinJack AJ replied to JusticeKnight's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I'm downloading it now. But i only see this this ruining the song. -
PRAS - Whatchu' Lookin' For He's on The Tonight Show performing it right now. Same Pras, but his flow seems tighter. The female singer he's got with him has crazy skillz!! This song is pretty good. Nice, sunny, carefree kinda feel. Looks like he's avoiding the sample heavy style of his 1st album. His new set seems a bit more acoustic, organic, and low key. I'm feelin' this.

I've always thought Kanye West waz overrated, but i thought he waz still talented. However, he ego is obnoxoius...especially cuz he hasen't done anything dope in about a year. All of the stuff tied 2 his next album has been no better than average 2 me. It sounds like the kinda album that i'll be able 2 put in the CD player on a night that i've been tossing and turning, and it'll be so boring that it'll put me 2 sleep.

Mase is a sell-out. His last record didn't do what he's 1st one did...so now he's gonna be a wanna be gangsta and wanna be playboy again. Mase has the wackest voice and flow in rap. And his lyrics are best when they are carefree and party fluff...cuz otherwise, they are just stupid. I actually kinda resptected him 4 what he did on his last album cuz it seemed like he waz doing what he should be...but now i see that he's a money hungy sell out. Either u are a man of God or u aren't. U can't be a spiritual and then be mr. hardcore "Murda Mase"...puh-leeze! Run is a reverand. He might not have the cleanest people collaborating with him, but he dosen't go around being a hypocrite. FP dosen't push he's religous beliefs on his fans, but his music has always been respectful. Mase is a joke, period.

"Don't Say Nothing" Appreciation Thread
JumpinJack AJ replied to MaxFly's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
"Don't Say Nothin'" has always been my favorite track on Big Willie Style, unless u are counting "Just Cruisin'" as a BWS track. The lyrics, the flow, the simple but dope beat. -
I don't care about a new album. I just want some videos, remixes, and the tour. Unless we are talking about a JJ+FP album, i'm just excited 2 see Lost + Found kick back in 2 gear.
-
Yeah, skits and most interludes get boring. That's why i burn copies of albums for my car and take the interludes off.
-
Thanx! It reminds me of one of my favorite candid pix of him from like '95. He's got that facial hair growing, a hat backwards, and he's sipping on a soda. Just VERY candid.
