Old Jazzy Jeff/Fresh Prince Commercial!
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
This is the kinda stuff that needs 2 be in the special features of a JJ+FP DVD. Come on Jive, get it 2gether!! -
The last week i've been drowning myself in MJ's music. Everything. The old, the new, the hits, the b-sides, the remixes...EVERYTHING. I've also been watching all the news coverage that i can. Last night MSNBC aired the interview he did a few years ago with the reporter that caused a good bit of controversy. I think that returning 2 his work so closely while being grown and while being in a very sensitive place due 2 the rough year that i've had, i've been able 2 understand and indentify with his work on a much deeper level. I've never believed any of the negative things that others said about him. I did think MJ was a unique individual (which has alwasy been part of his magic). Of course i don't know anything...i've just never believed it. But going back to this interview that the reporter tried 2 turn everything around negativily, i related 2 MJ more than ever. Seeing him face the questions about his lifestyle, his children, his actions, and his conduct vs. the legal issues he faced, i saw him in a different way. I watched this interview back when it aired on TV years ago but this time i was just really watching everything. His eyes, his body language, his tone of voice. MJ was turely an angel tortured by what his artistry had brought in2 his life. To see such a caring and pure hearted person have 2 deal with everything that he had 2 deal with is just awful.

MICHAEL JACKSON - Ben (Live) Number 1's (2003)

Since the time line is so messed up at this point, it would surprise me if the last 2 seasons were released at the same time. It really is ridiculous that one of the most popular shows of all time is taking this long 2 get the last 2 seasons out. Makes u wonder if it's even a priority at the moment.

The Game Apologizes To 50 Cent, Interscope
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I can't see any The Game having any connections 2 MJ. Is there anything else supporting this. I like that he's apologizing. So many people in Hip-Hop and Rap are egotistical crybabies with 2 much pride 2 cover up their insecurities. -
Interview with one of his bodyguards...from AOL News/Popeater... ----------------------------------- Jackson's Guard Tells of Drugs, Girlfriend PopEater posted: 12 HOURS 13 MINUTES AGOcomments: 995PrintShareText SizeAAAMichael Jackson's British bodyguard is coming out and talking about his experiences with the late King of Pop, including claims that Jackson had a secret girlfriend and that drugs were often hidden from Jackson. The claims come from Matt Fiddes, a personal friend of Jackson who also served as his bodyguard during Michael's U.K. stints. During his Sky News interview, Fiddes blames Jackson's death on the doctors in his life, saying "they have Michael's blood on their hands" for allegedly giving him prescription drugs. "They know what they've done and there's people out there who could have helped, could have stepped in but didn't for financial reasons," Fiddes said. Skip over this content Fiddes, 29, says that he and Jackson's friend Uri Geller tried many times to intervene, but "as soon as we said anything and it gets back to Michael, Michael would have a screaming fit that we were interfering with his private life, that he knew what he was doing and he was in denial." He claims that he and Uri "confiscated injection equipment" from Jackson. Still, Fiddes says he "never witnessed him actually taking drugs, but I knew they were there and I confiscated packages, and Uri did too." Among the other claims made by Fiddes is one about Jackson's alleged secret girlfriend. "I'm not going to name who she is but I think the family were aware that there was someone special in his life who he loved and adored and had his ups and downs with," he said.

From AOL/Popeater...the video of this interview was touching. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Jermaine Jackson Says 'I Wish It Was Me' PopEater posted: 6 HOURS 15 MINUTES AGOcomments: 1018filed under: Music NewsPrintShareText SizeAAA With the death of his brother Michael still dominating the headlines, Jermaine Jackson gave an emotional interview to Matt Lauer on 'Today' during which he proclaimed he wishes he was the one who died. Jermaine tells Lauer that after learning about Michael's death, he "felt empty ... I don't know how people are going to take this, but I wish it was me. I've always felt that I was his backbone. Someone to be there for him. I was there and he was sort of like Moses, things he couldn't say I would say them." Skip over this content Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy He says the hardest part about that sad day was hearing his mother "crying, saying he was dead. And to hear my mother say Michael's dead, to feel and hear the tone in her voice to say her child is dead, it's nothing that anyone can ever imagine." "There's nothing we can compare to this because we lost our brother, our hero. The world is mourning, we're mourning ... it's unreal, it's unbelievable," Jermaine said about the death of The King of Pop. Jermaine says that upon hearing the news that Michael's health had taken a turn for the worse, he "rushed in the hospital and I went straight to my mother and I wanted to console her. I wanted to see Michael, I wanted to see my brother. Seeing him there lifeless and breathless was very emotional for me, but I held myself together because I know he's very much alive. That was just a shell, but I kissed him on his forehead and I hugged him and I touched him and I said 'Michael, I'll never leave you. You'll never leave me.'" As for reports that Jackson may have abused prescription medicine, which may have led to his death, Jermaine remains skeptical until toxicology reports come back. "Michael has always been a person who was against anything like that. In this business the pressure and things you go through, you never know what one will turn to ... Michael was always concerned about everybody, and to have that weight on your shoulders, to have that pressure ... I don't know," he told Lauer.

"Girls ain't nothing but trouble" single CD ?
JumpinJack AJ replied to Romano338's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
There is no CD single/promo for "Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble." There are a few different versions on vinyl only. The original blue labled Word Up release from 1986 featuring the orignal version, the Def Mix, Instrumental and Def Beat. Then there's another Word Up release with this cloudy looking label (i'm not sure the tracklisting, but i know i didn't get it in the past because whatever is on it is on the other versions i have). Then there is the 1987 version with a cover that has "DJ JAZZY JEFF + THE FRESH PRINCE" on it (no pic of them on it tho') with the Oakenfold + Laidly Mix (i forget the rest of the tracklisting). Then there is the version that u have the picture for which is the only Jive release (unless the previous version i just talked about is also from Jive). I have the original 1986 version, the 1987 version and the 1988 version, i can confirm all of the tracklistings later if u like. -
Vibe Magazine To Close Down Immediately
JumpinJack AJ replied to Turntable's topic in Caught in the Middle
Yeah, i hate that "print is dying." I want physical copies of stuff in my hands. I have stacks of old Source, Vibe, Blaze, Word Up!, Right On, Black Beat, and Fresh! magazines that i love going thru' every once in awhile. The pictures, the topics discussed, the music promoted...it all takes me back. Same with CDs...i want the photography and art from the CD insert 2 see the visual repersentation of the music at that time. I wanna read the credits and the Thank U's. Digital music lacks the heart and soul of yesterday's music. -
Yeah, i know "Ave Maria" is on the new album. I saw it as the kinda song she'd perform at The Grammys and not the BET Awards...but i'm glad she did. The over the top costume and everything just seemed kinda akward. I didn't mind Jamie Foxx and Marlon Wayans giving props 2 MJ becuz In Living Color poked fun at everything. I don't remember anything on on the show (and i own the entire series on DVD) that was truely attacking anyone. It merely poked fun at pop culture and MJ was at the front of it. They made fun of Arsenio Hall (who i was happy 2 see in the audience at the BET Awards) and he had alot of the cast on his talk show back in the day. There are people who outspokenly attacked MJ but i don't think Jamie Foxx or Marlon Wanyans never did that. I loved Marlon's statement "There would be no Wanans without the Jacksons."
-
I'm wonder what y'all thought of the BET Awards. They were better than what i expected. With how awful the music industry is commercially i didn't expect much, but the show was good. I was very impressed that in 3 days, they totally changed the show 2 be a dedication 2 MJ. Jamie Foxx was funny and his MJ outfits were awesome. I don't remember too much of it but i thought the tribute 2 the O'Jay's was great. 2 see Tevin Campbell come back out of nowhere, unaged, and singing his heart out was awesome, followed by the super group tribute from Johnny Gill, Tyrese, and Trey Songz. Just...WOW!! Then when the O'Jay's took the stage, they didn't miss a beat. Ne-Yo's performance of "Lady In My Life" was FLAWLESS!!! Ciara showed us that she actually could sing with that stripped down version of "Heal The World." Beyonce's performance was good and a bit weird. I'm glad she didn't do any of the crappy songs off her current album. I'm not a big Jay-Z fan but i thought his performance was good. Jamie Foxx and T-Pain were pretty good even tho' I think that song is stupid. Then, when Ne-Yo presented the people he grew up on, i got crazy HYPE!! When Keith Sweat came out and did his thing, it was good (tho' his never been the best live singer)...then Guy came out and tore it up (tho' Aaron Hall didn't sound very rehearsed) and lastly, Bell Biv DeVoe tore it up!! They didn't miss a beat. U'd think it was 1990 seeing them with the vocals, the dance moves, the outfits. They have a new album coming but u'd think they they'd been touring for years.

That's what i'm tryna say. One thing that annoyed me when MTV, BET, and VH-1 was that most of the videos they were airing was his stuff from the 80's. I didn't get 2 watch hours of it, but it seemed like the same few videos got play. They did play "You Rock My World" but it seemed like all they played were the videos from Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad. Other than that, Black or White, Give Into Me, Remember The Time, You Are Not Alone, and You Are Not Alone were the only videos they played. Where was In The Closet, Who Is It, They Don't Care About Us, Stranger In Moscow, Blood Is On The Dance Floor, etc. His did so much more than they wanted 2 air. Let's see Michael rock out for 2009 so the world knows what they lost. There is definitely lots of footage that was taped. I was watching some new thing and it had lots of footage of the dancers working, rehearsing and meeting MJ.

Vibe Magazine To Close Down Immediately
JumpinJack AJ replied to Turntable's topic in Caught in the Middle
Ahh, this sucks. I'm a Vibe suscriber. I agree that they dumbed down over the years but that's simply because the general public is more ignorant than ever (am i bold by saying that) and/or have no real standards on what they embrace. Look at the commercial side of music and movies. Most of it is loaded with people that aren't very talented. On top of that, those not-so-talented people are not often the most intellegent or moral people either. Then u have the public, who seem to get less intellegent, less moral, and less picky year after year. Music and movies (especially music) is just embarassing. So u have some respectable (or semi-respectable) media, magazine, television, etc that are covering music and movies and they almost HAVE 2 cover crap music, crap movies, crap talent, etc which lead 2 a crap product. I might just be running at the mouth right now, but if u give me an issue of Vibe from the 90's, i'd be reading every article, actually taking a second 2 read it cover 2 cover, and actually look at the pictures. These days, i'm happy 2 see it when i get it in the mail, but i only flip 2 the places i actually have an insterest in reading which us less than half of it. The music of 2day is crap compared 2 the music back then. The artists are the same way. The music industry is so bad. I was annoyed when i went in2 Borders the other day and they music section is half the size that it waz a year ago. Wal-Mart's music secion is 25% smaller than what is was a year ago. I went 2 my favorite (and only) independent music store 2day only 2 find that they have closed. Half of the internet is killing music. The big labels that are signing and promoting crap artists making crap music are ruining things. And the uneducated population that buys awful and idiotic music like Lil' Wayne are killing music. Sometimes u gotta hit rockbottom, kill all the bad before u can rebuild. I feel that so much of the entertainment industry is that way. I'm sad 2 see Vibe go, i'm sad 2 see very thing that has 2 go due 2 the current state of things. Let's Noah's arc this joint and start rebuilding. (((I apologize for ranting, generalizing, and cramming what should be 15 paragraphs of more detailed and constructive opinions rather than this...but this is what it is cuz i'm having a crappy year and i'm in a mood...ha ha....))) -
Yeah, but what i'm saying is that musically as an artist, anyone who is giving him praise is thinking back 2 the the time before the early/mid 90's. So many people are unaware of how dope he was as a singer and artist since the mid-90's. This rehearsal/concert being available 2 people, knowing that it was just days before he passed, will let all of those people know that he was still in his prime, it's just that all those haters and weak "fans" weren't around 2 be aware of that.

Here's a bunch of mini newsfeeds that i got from AOL News...... ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jackson's Last Will -- Diana Ross Mentioned Posted Jul 1st 2009 9:00AM by TMZ Staff Michael Jackson's will has been filed with the court. Jackson asks that his mother, Katherine, be made the guardian of all three of his kids. The will says if Katherine died before him or couldn't serve as guardian, he nominated Diana Ross. And there's a petition filed along with the will, saying Jackson's estate is worth more than $500,000,000. The petition says almost all of the estate "consists of non-cash, non-liquid assets, including primarily an interest in a catalog of music royalty rights which is currently being administered by Sony/ATV, and interests in various entities." As we first reported, the will leaves everything to the Michael Jackson Family Trust, stating, "I give my entire estate to the Trustee or Trustees..." The will has been misinterpreted in reports -- suggesting that Debbie Rowe was intentionally excluded. Jackson has even excluded his own children from getting property under the will. But all that means is that the trust he created will control the distribution of property. The will declares that Jackson is not married. The will names John Branca, John McClain and Barry Siegel as co-Executors. Branca was Jackson's lawyer, McClain is a music exec and Siegel was Jackson's accountant. But Siegel resigned from his role as executor in 2003. Branca and McClain just released the following statement: "The most important element of Michael's will is his unwavering desire that his mother, Katherine, become the legal guardian for his three children." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Jackson's Will We now know what's in Michael Jackson's will -- for starters, he never said where he wanted to be buried. We've learned the will -- which will be filed today -- is 5 pages long. As for who gets what -- Jackson's entire estate goes to the Michael Jackson Family Trust. The trust documents are not included in the will and the contents of the trust remain confidential. We're told the trust provides for Michael's children and mother, and distributes money to several charities. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael's Will -- Katherine Should Get Custody There are reports that Michael Jackson's will says the singer wanted his mom, Katherine, to get custody and wanted assets to be placed in trust. The will, according to the AP, lists Jackson's lawyer, John Branca, and John McClain, a music exec, as executors. The will has not been filed with the court. As for custody -- the will does matter, but ultimately the decision on who gets custody is in the hands of the judge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jackson's Dad Aced Out of Will Michael Jackson signed a will in 2002 providing for his children and his mom, but leaving nothing to daddy Joe -- this according to the Wall Street Journal. As we reported yesterday, attorney John Branca has the will and plans to file it with the court within 30 days of the singer's death. According to the will, Jackson reportedly left his estate -- estimated at $1 billion -- to his mother, three children and one or more charities. As for why Joe was left out -- Jackson has said during his childhood his father beat him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Jackson's Estate in Court Initial papers have been filed with the court to probate Michael Jackson's estate. But it seems Jackson's mom and dad don't know Jackson had a will. The petition was filed by Michael's parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson. But here's the thing. The papers say Jackson died "intestate" -- that means, without a will. But we've learned Jackson's long-time lawyer, John Branca, who just came back on board 3 weeks ago, has a will Jackson signed that he intends to file within 30 days. The petition asks that Katherine be named as administrator of the will ... meaning she wants to call the shots. The papers say Debbie Rowe will be served with notice of a hearing.
