R&B songwriters C. Haggins/I.Barias mention JJFP!
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I agree that 2Pac stayed more consitant...but it still effected his music. Just look at his lifestyle and problems in the last 9 months of his life, while on Deathrow. All Eyez On Me is a huge album, but i could lyrically never touch Me Against The World. Why his art waz still ill...still quality, it isn't on the level of past stuff. Eminem's new stuff isn't even quality. -
Wow, i guess somebody had 2 make Vanilla Ice look gangsta and talented. Jacking the "So Fresh So Clean" beat almost helped. Bottom line, it's just not acceptable or intellegent for some white kid overseas 2 be using the n-word...nuff said. Come on.

Man, it's scary 2 think where it'll be. 2 look at the downward spiral that it has been in the past 10 years, it worries me where it's going. I believe that there will always be a true skool Hip-Hop genre...that may always have almost a strictly undergroung/cult following. I could see the commercial image of rap staying in the awful state it is in...but at the same time, people have 2 get sick of this crap. As these 15 year old's grow up, they are gonna have 2 realize that Nelly and Ja-Rule just don't make good music. And are the kids who are 10 right now really gonna like the same empty stuff like Lil' Jon and Chingy? I don't understand it now...and i won't understand it then. Hopefully people will get sick of the fake gangsta stuff and the untalented people getting signed and the fact of Hip-Hop and commerical Rap will change.

I don't think the the F-word is on "Tell Me Why" is the same as the B-word on "You Saw My Blinker." The F-word is in a league of it's own. I don't think it would have been cool for FP 2 leave it unedited in the song. However, i think they should have just edited it out rather than put that rediculous beep in.

Bloodhound Gang disses Will Smith

Yeah, i don't think he's very happy with his fame and success...or the people he surrounds himself with. He and 50 might work 2gether...but i don't think they are genuine friends. When i see his interviews, he just seems very unhappy. It waz kinda like watching 2Pac during the Deathrow era, u can just tell he's not happy with what's he's doing. -
LL Cool J and Ice-T make hip-hop honor roll
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Very cool...i can't wait til LL takes the stage. Why Nelly tho'?!...and Ciara?!? It's like VH-1 takes one step forward, then one step backwards. They should have someone who makes sense performing his songs. If FP wazn't such a legend, i'd say he'd be the one worthy of performing them. It's cool that Ice-T will be there 2. I real OG in Hip-Hop...who also used 2 have a lyrical beef with LL. It old and they are cool enough 2 attend the same event without beef. Someone pass this talent on2 idiots like 50 Cent. -

I can't agree on any of those Eminem comments. The Eminem Show IS a garbage album. Not 2 say there isn't a good lyric here or there, but they are hard 2 find. His flow and delivery is just annoying now and the production waz straight crap. He no longer has anything 2 do with Hip-Hop...just the commerical rap scene. He had a solid Hip-Hop foundation when he broke out, but as he changed his style, he abandoned it...also abandoning his Hip-Hop fanbase...like myself. I used 2 love him, now i hate him. -

ONYX - Throw Ya Gunz Bacdaf*cup (1993) I don't know how many people here would feel this album, but it's classic hardcore Hip-Hop. I can't believe i listened 2 this on a daily basis when i waz 13...ha ha.

Jay-Z has never impressed me. I don't know why so many people feel him. Anyways, i think he's falling in2 the corny beef/gimmick stuff that all the other rappers are tapping in2. He has no reason 2 run his mouth at other rappers. And he has no reason 2 front like he's retiring cuz nobody believes him.

I just turned on the TV and TRL waz on. They said something like "Will Smith shows us his new video Wednesday." They didn't announce it like he waz gonna physically be there, but i got the impression that that's still what they meant. Anyways, things are looking up. Everybody tune in!!

Will feat Jay-Z and Kanye West
JumpinJack AJ replied to JusticeKnight's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
The reason i don't care 2 hear a Jay-Z and Kanye acappella with a FP verse is beyond the fact that i don't think their music is worthy 2 mixed with him...but also cuz it wouldn't make sense. Their music generally has nothing lyrically 2 do with FP's stuff. At least LL and Lyte have lyrics that are not only dope, but also blend with FP's style and point of view on music and life. Why put new jack rappers along side FP when they haven't prooved themselves. The only newer emcees i could see on a worthy level would be The Fugees, Busta Rhymes, ...and well, that's about it. I'm overlooking the non-commercial stuff of course. -

I don't post feedback on this board ever...but this is a "special case"... Wow, this is just bad. I mean really awful. I don't find it funny or even remotely amusing. Sorry, i just think this is an awful idea all way around. The names, the sound, the lyrics, the talent. True effort was put in2 this 2 suck at a level this extreem.

I thought those guys were funny...but their music sucked in my opinion. I don't think anybody really respects anything they have 2 say. -

Better yet, scratch Jay-Z and Kanye from the line up...check in2 the legends like LL, Run, Busta, Common, De La, Lyte, Latifah. -
Man, it's incredible that it's been this long, but today (technically yesterday since i'm posting this after midnight where i live) marks the 9 year anniversary of 2Pac's death. I just remember how i waz disappointed in the Deathrow aspect of his album All Eyes On Me....but how incredible and unstoppable his album was. But when he got shot, i just felt like i saw it coming...but i had no idea that about a week later, he would actually pass on. I remember sitting on my bedroom floor, going thru' some music, when my brother opened my door and said "2Pac died"...it waz one the weirdest moments i've ever gone thru.' I'd been following him since 1991, and a but fan of Digital Underground, so my loyalty 2 him as an artist ran deep. I remember going downstairs, turning on MTV and just watching it all nite as they'd re-run the same MTV News update on it, then airing a block of his videos over and over again, and watching Yo! MTV Raps. After that, we watched the violence between Rap and the streets grow. We watched security jump, we watched people stop claiming where they come from, we watched party pop start 2 take over, we watched millions of bandwagon fans embrace his music...and the Hip-Hop game as we know it, changed forever. 2Pac was just getting started, and about 2 set people straight on what he waz about and what his style of Hip-Hop waz about, but all that waz cut short. If he wouldn't have passed, i don't think commercial rap would be in such a crappy place right now. I'm not saying all of this has played off of his murder, but i believe that if he waz still around, he would have been one of the few people who would directed the way Hip-Hop and Rap went. Those of u who haven't been in2 him but wanna check him out, check his stuff b4 1997...and check the movie Tupac Resurrection. Rest In Peace 2Pac.

JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Thanx 4 posting that inteview clip. That's crazy interesting. It makes FP's comment from that radio interview a few months ago make alot of sense. When u think about the way it said something like "I know for a fact that somewhere in there Eminem is a big Will Smith fan"...it just ties in with this event. Eminem's line in "Real Slim Shady" wazn't really a diss in my eyes...it waz everything that followed. When he mocked him in the "Forgot About Dre" video and then encouraged his fans 2 chant "Will Smith sucks" while at TRL...that's what i had a problem with. I think it's very cool that they put it out there. I love the stuff those guys produce (unless they are the former ATOJ producers who did Ciara's "Oh"). I definitly gotta pick up that issue of Vibe.
