  1. I've thought Timbaland waz one of the best producers for 10 years now. So it's good 2 see him still doing his things in big ways. I'll give JT a chance, but i think "Sexyback" is wack. I like the grimy club vibe but i hate the lyrics and vocal distortion. I really hope the rest of the album is better.
  2. I'm not refuring 2 the video cuz i haven't seen it. Anything i posted waz just general info. But yeah, when i read "lyrics for Jada" i waz thinkin' song written about her.
  3. LUPE FIASCO - Kick Push DJ Envy presents Lupe Fiasco Chi-Town Guevara Mixtape (2006) If u go 2 Circuit City this week, u get a free Lupe Fiasco mixtape with the purchase of any Hip-Hop or Rap CD. It's 44 minutes long!! I've only skipped thru' it at this point. I'm not sure how many of these trax will make the album, but here's my mini-review. His lyrics and flow are lightyears in front of most rappers who dropped their 1st album after 1996. His lyrics aren't totally squeaky clean but they are very refreshing cuz his rhyme aren't weighed down with cussing. Over half of this mixtape has good production. A handful of beats are even on the level of "Kick Push." This cat definitly has promise. I'd like 2 see the actual album polished up just a bit more than this.
  4. I got it from Wal-Mart w/ the bonus 70 minute DVD with interviews, performances, and 4 music videos. I might keep it in wrapping until after i see the movie incase i don't like the album. I rarely listened 2 their last album.
  5. 2Pac originally went by MC New York...he kept that title even when he 1st moved 2 Baltimore. It waz long gone by the time he moved 2 the west coast. I don't know if any actual songs are about Jada. I'm sure she inspired him since they were best friends tho.' He wrote the poem "Jada" which popped up in his book of poetry. There have been 2 CDs released that are based off that book. I always wanted FP do 2 a song based off that song or recite the poem 4 one of those albums. I do know that 2Pac wrote the song "Can U Get Away" for Left Eye from TLC. That waz when she waz with Andre Rison, her abusive boyfriend who played for the Falcons in which she infamously burned down his house. While they never officially were 2gether, they were best of friends 2.
  6. Just like Bigted said...FP is "Mr. Nice Guy"...i've always called him a team player. He talks good about everybody personally. Whatever trax that are out at the time, he calls them 'hot." But those same rappers making those same songs are exactly the people he is talking about in trax like "Lost + Found." FP would never say "_______ is wack." Everyone knows that, but he's knocking the same stuff that alot of us do when we talk about the state of commerical rap. While giving Jay-Z props, he's even said that he needs 2 venture in2 new territory. For those of u like gangsta rap and commerical rappers, u can like whatever u want. But don't try 2 make them the exception 2 the stuff JJ+FP have talked about disliking in interviews. When Jeff says there needs 2 be more of a variety on the radio, it's cuz not everyone wants 2 hear T.I., Young Joc, and Young Dro crapping on the rap game like that. When FP says people like Jay-Z need 2 talk about more than jewelry, money, and ho's...he's calling out those who have no creativity when it comes 2 lyrics and subject matter.
  7. Yeah, i agree, that would be the perfect way 2 hold most of us over. Jeff's album keeps getting pushed back. He better be bumping it back 4 the right reasons...like getting FP on it. Let's remember that the album that became The Magnificent got started back in 1998.
  8. Sorry Tim, i had 2 reply 2 this even tho' the topic waz closed... willsmithandjazz4life, think about this b4 u make a post like this. If u reply 2 Tim's post on why members haven't gotten shirts and u say you have no money, how r u gonna pay 2 make shirts of your own?!? Besides, it's a conflict of interest. If it's your passion 2 make 'em, put 'em on your own website or get 2gether with another member. From there, Tim probably wouldn't care if u just mention that u made one and that anyone interested could go 2 a certain website.
  9. 2Pac is from New York, then moved 2 B-more where him and Jada became best friends. They were never 2gether even tho' in the mid-90's...right be FP and her started talking, there were rumors that they were engaged. I can't imagin 2Pac saying something like that about Jada cuz they never were 2gether and she waz probably the female that he respected most after his mother. I didn't check the video cuz my computer sucks...but i hope my reply helps clear something up.
  10. I don't think FP cares 2 much about sales. I just think he has a better perspective on the game than i do...ha ha. As a long time Hip-Hop, i allow myself 2 get annoyed by the fact that the music that used 2 be my life is playing a much smaller roll these days. Partly cuz my favorites like Whodini, Run-DMC, Kid N' Play, MC Hammer, TLC, Salt-N-Pepa, either don't record anymore, can't record anymore, or don't do it nearly as much as they used 2. Times have changed. I support there being different styles of Hip-Hop, cuz there are all kinds of different people who live it and make it. But let's remember that musically, Hip-Hop has always been about being real, being yourself. Since i don't like 2 have 2 always dig for good music, i like it 2 be accessable thru' the mainstream. But for over a decade...the mainstream has been more and more commerical rap. Commerical rap isn't real and it isn't about being yourself. That fake, phoney, immature, and irresponsable. Young kids listen 2 that poison and the younger generation things it's cool 2 worship jewelery and material things. They think it's cool 2 disprespect females and other people. They think it's cool 2 cuss like it's nothing. They think it's cool 2 do drugs, get drunk, and carry guns. Sure, it's a parents responsiblity 2 raise their kids...but by the time u are 10, u do whatever u want...i should know. Most of those commerical rappers also happen 2 have no talent. I'm not naming names cuz we've done that b4. But there's alot of people on this board who need 2 check what u listen 2. Cuz some of your favorite artists are like this and u are supporting the commerical/TV/radio decay of Hip-Hop and Rap. It's much more deeper having an opinion. Now that i've just typed way 2 much, let me say that FP has 2 feel out of place becuz he is real and he does stay true 2 himself. He understands that he's outnumbered and that he's gonna have 2 work twice as hard 2 get half the success of idiots like Young Joc. Of course he wants hit records, but he's not gonna sell his soul 2 do it. He's not gonna neglect his family, personal life and his movie career 2 do that. After all, there are more people who support his movies than there is who support his movie. I think he's adjusting 2 the changing times and i personally think he's doing it really well. Rakim rarely releases music. Ice Cube is the same. LL keeps things moving but him and Cube have lower sales than what they used 2 have. It's just the way things are. Hopefully things will change, becuz i know alot of look at the charts and think "can it get any worse?" And then a month later, we hear a G-Unit, Lil' Jon, or Young Dro and thing "wow, it can get worse." Hopefully young music fans will get real and demand more from the artists they listen 2 and hopefully record labels will support and promote music vets more. All we can do as fans is support FP and the music we like personally.
  11. The price is definitly right. The shirt is top quality. I got a band shirt for one of my friends and it cost more than this shirt. And i came across alot of other shirts while i waz looking 4 the one i got her. This is amougnst the cheapest shirts i've seen. I'd like 2 see this shirts sell out cuz i want Tim 2 work on another one...ha ha. Maybe one with an newer pic on it like the ones at the top of the board where FP is wearing the "I Am Hip-Hop" or "Switch" shirt. Maybe with a small discography at the very bottom of the image.
  12. FP has the right 2 favor one over the other...after all, it's his life. But i don't think that's the case. I still believe Hip-Hop is his 1st love. Infact, i know i'm not the only person who still views him as an emcee who lots of success in acting and not a former emcee who is not a blockbuster movie star. I used 2 write and rhyme alot....but now i don't. So even tho' he constantly writes and records, maybe his albums are put 2gether in moderation like Lost + Found waz. But the bulk of it waz recorded over a 2 year span. So maybe the fire inside for music either comes out in moderation or maybe it comes in spurts...who knows. On top of that, mabye he just doesn't feel as relevant in these days of so many no-talent fools getting record deals and then attempting 2 rap over watered down commerical beats. He doesn't fit in with that and probably feels that he needs 2 make smart decisions on timing, which he has talked about in the past. I think that as fans, it's just important 2 support everything he does...period. In the meantime, i think that we need 2 stay tight as fans, keep putting out the word out where people may not no about it. And whenever there is a time 2 support him, we need 2 rally 2 get his music, movies, and everything else out there 2 an audience bigger than ours. Alot of us already do that, but some get discouraged when they don't get what we want. Just cuz we don't get an album every year or 2 doesn't give us a reason 2 turn our back on him. After all, we don't know or see everything he works on.
  13. I agree. Busta is good people. But he really does need 2 step back and check himself. I doubt being on Aftermath helps at all. Dre keeps himself surrounded by idiot, which is why i feel he's been holding himself back in recent years. On a positive note...the new album is dope. And "New York" is the new single...which is a good decision.
  14. WARREN G + B-REAL - Get U Down In The Mid-Night Hour (2005)
  15. Ask Tim, Cookie, or Wes...i've always spelled certain things wrong on purpose. In fact, i'm probably better now then what i waz years a go.
  16. Well, Ice Cube and Cypress Hill have been droping some of the darkest and most violent hardcore Hip-Hop since way back in the day...so i don't really see anything shocking about it. It's been way over 10 years since KRS-One waz the 1st emcee 2 pose with a gun on an album cover.
  17. I've been following Cherish since 2003. I really liked their 1st single with Da Brat and JD...but i can't stand the new song. It's one of the watered down 'crunk-meets-R-N-B' trax and Sean Paul spits one of the wackest verses on the radio at the moment. I got the album since i've been following and the smoother R-N-B trax came out. But the more mainstream aimed songs are average at their very best. They girls don't really stand out like TLC, En Vogue, SWV, Xscape, or Destiny's Child do. I can't tell them or their voices apart. And i also don't think they have the R. Kelly sound goin' on. I do like the album alot tho'...i listened 2 it twice in the row the other day while i waz doing some serious cleaning. Definitly a good album, but i'd urge people 2 pick up Donell Jones, Goapele, or Toni Braxton's newer albums if anyone is looking 4 some new R-N-B.
  18. Ahhh, Busta's turning in2 DMX...good guy, good music, stupid decisions. Here's and article from AOL. ------------------------- Busta Rhymes Arrested on Assault Charges NEW YORK (Aug. 20) - Rapper Busta Rhymes has been arrested and charged with assault, police said Sunday. Few details about the arrest and the attack that prompted it were immediately available, although police Officer Martin Speechley said they occurred about a week apart. Representatives of the rapper, whose legal name is Trevor Smith, could not immediately be reached for comment. Messages left for Violator Management and for a lawyer who once represented him were not immediately returned. Police have been wanting to interview Rhymes since the February shooting death of one of his bodyguards, Israel Ramirez. Ramirez, 29, was killed outside a Brooklyn studio where Rhymes was recording a music video. The rapper and another bodyguard were sued the following month by a fan who says the two men beat him after he asked for the Rhymes' autograph.
  19. SNOOP DOGG PRESENTS DOGGY STYLE RECORDS (da album) (2002)
  20. MTV hasn't had music on it in years...and now they are just as bad as radio stations...they play the same 20 videos over and over. Other than that, it's a bunch of crappely put 2gether shows like Next, My Own_____, Can I Be You, Real World, Road Rules, Real World/Road Rules, Real World Reunion...i mean, come on. I usually watch BET since 80 of their broadcasting is music. Even tho' VH-1 has 2 many shows on it, they are at least releated 2 music an entertainment. They at least support some older music, fogotten artists, and new artists who usually get clouded over by bigger artists.
  21. Rick Ross = Dime-a-dozen embarassing fake trash rap
  22. The Bad Boys 2 era waz definitly a wide open door 2 drop a blazing track and make a huge step in his music career. It's sad that it didn't pan out. FP probably could have had his way if he fought 4 it. Puffy, u suck...and so does your awful new single...and u still suck as a dancer...loser.
  23. Yeah, i'm really hoping he does some guest spots and gets a myspace page. That would be the perfect set up 2 hold everyone over until the next album...and it would get more people behind him. It would all work nicely with that November 2007 release date...(the same month BWS and Willennium were dropped)...ha ha.
  24. I actually heard there waz lots of info on it. The longer u stayed on the line, the more u paid...the more they made, hence the reason lots of info waz on it.
