  1. LoL Hey you didn't have to compose a grand-jury defense testimony over a simple difference of opinions (even tho I'm right to say it's not a great song). And w/out a credit card, I would imagine that yes, it would be nearly impossible to get old JJFP stuff-- unless you're illegally downloadin mp3's (which even then is difficult to find... or so I've heard?... but I do recommend winMX... or that's what ppl tell me, anyways). In conclusion and in summary, if everyone affirmed that "Ya'll Know" was the single greatest piece of music ever recorded, this would not be "spooky," but rather a sure-fire sign that everyone is on the same page-- the one and only CORRECT page, that is.
  2. Believe the hype about LeBron. And more. He's the real deal. As is Dwyane Wade. The L is in good hands, my friends. Carmelo Anthony, on the other hand, is a joker (2nd time I've labeled a player such in the span of 2 posts) and I'm not just saying that as a bandwagon-thing this season. Why did I feel the need to mention that? I don't know. Oh, and Al Jefferson is UNBELIEVABLY SICK (go celtics!!!)
  3. Yeah, there's definately some inherant contradiction goin on when it comes to discussing "JJFP" trax and mentioning stuff off of B2R and whatnot, so I just threw together basically my favorite Will Smith cuts... On my list, "Ya'll Know," I'm not sure if Jeff produced, and "Rock the House" is actually just Ready Rock & Will. (haha, I guess if u eliminate those 2, I did actually inadvertently follow instructions...) And yeeeeeeeah, sorry-- I'm not a big "Gotta go Home" fan either lol :cya:
  4. This is somewhat arbitrary and completely not following instructions but I came up with a 5-way tie, in no particular order, for my favorite trax... - Ya'll Know (Big Willie Style) - Summertime (Homebase) - He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper (He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper) - Rock the House (Rock the House) - So Fresh (Willenium)
  5. As an NBA fan-atic (more than JJFP, more than anything else in "fandom"), this is huge news for me. Malone's retirement, plus the announcement that this season will be Reggie Miller's last, means the final curtain calls for some of my favorite players I grew up with. Malone was a class act, and, while I'm on the subject, Kobe Bryant is a joker. And so is his wife. A stupid joke between family friends is not a pass at your wife. Certainly not somethin to talk to the press about. Just thought I'd mention this considering it was deemed worthy of mention in his AP retirement article. Gosh. (that was a rambling and incoherant response :dunno: )
  6. aaaaaaaaaaand also my thoughts on the "cover" if thats what it is: album covers dont mean much to me, but its pretty cool... better than B2R (i always thought his face looked wierd in that... mildly frightening... am i the only one?) but not better than the classic "he's the dj" b/c that cover's pose with FP pointin at jeff like that is just so goofball :switch:
  7. Lerkot making a passing comment reminiscing Jeff's absence on the L&F cover + me w/ being sick & havin waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on my hands tonite = the edited photo below...
  8. My recent activity on this msg board in anticipation of "Lost & Found" inspired me to grab my old, scratched up copy of "Big Willie Style" to bump in my pimptastic Ford Taurus (which is actually my mom's) while driving to school today. And I must say, I was once again struck by how amazingly fantabulous the song "Ya'll know" is. The beat is... infectious! That is the perfect word for it. There is some sick beat-boxing, which is even more noticeable and awesome when the song-beat drops out @ the end. The rhymes are scrumtrilescently clever (check out my signature!) and the delivery/flow is simply delicious. I love this song, and I just wanted to express & share this love in message-board form. RESPOND!! :cya:
  9. Strapped for ca$h, but the birthday's comin up so we'll see. Ppl will probably jump on me for saying this but I might want Seinfeld & Chappelle Show more... and the Garfield & Friends saturday morning cartoon show. Yes, that is actually on DVD. Me & this other kid found it @ Best Buy before and that might just be too randomly delicious to turn down... but after that, FPOBA is a must-have... btw, TV shows on DVD in general are waaaaaaay to fun, and waaaaaaay too big of a waste of time... me & a couple of my more lazy friends have definately spent entire days glued to the couch watching Simpsons and Arrested Development (GREAT show).
  10. :ditto: (first time I used this smiley - ooooooooo yeah) Hard-hitting? Yes. Gangsta? Doubtful. Just cuz he's doin a collab with someone known for gangsta rap doesn't mean this track will be like that - remember Lil Kim's appearence on "Willenium"? Will had her gasp instead of saying "ass"! I really doubt he's gonna get too "out of hand," even if he is saying "Lost & Found" is a departure of sorts.
  11. You really think this was about race? No offense to FPOBA, but Seinfeld was on a whole different plateau of success and was, honestly, just a funnier sitcom - one of the best ever. Even if there were loads of extra features - and from the sounds of things, yeah, they coulda done better - FPOBA wasn't gonna sell nearly as well as Seinfeld - or various other shows - on DVD. I'm pretty sure WB's was just worrying about profits, and figured weather they took the time to add a bunch of extras or not, the hard-core fans (most ppl here) would still buy it, and those who wouldn't, wouldn't.
  12. Just realized that there were 2 Aunt Vivs when I was readin a review for the DVD set on tvshowsondvd. They look nothin alike, but it never registered with me that there were 2 different actresses. As soon as I thought of it, I was like-- oooooooooh yeah there were weren't there. Just thought I'd share this revelation. :ali: (boxing?)
  13. All the info is right here... http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/sitereviews.cfm?ReleaseID=4174 I actually contributed something/answered somebody's questions! Thank you, thank you...
  14. Happy (belated) birthday, Mr. Timothy :birthday: Thought I'd throw my part in, even tho its a couple days late.
  15. Four words for you: are you serious guy???? The Yankees are overpaid, steroid-using pretty boys, who hafta shave clean when they sell their souls to Steinbrenner for a fat contract. There's also that choke-artist issue. Buckner let one ball slip by-- these guys collapsed in 4 straight games. A-Rod is a joke! And that's the end of that. :scared2:
  16. Lerkot: you officially surpassed my smiley-face-poll in the huge-waste-of-time department. Still, FASCINATING results. He's the DJ is my favorite JJFP album & Willenium is probably my favorite Will Smith. Coincidence? I think not. :werd: :cya:
  17. Classic story-telling from the Fresh Prince, and u gotta love the old-school scratchin from Jeff... Whenever I walk into the gas-station snack store near my school-- especially on the rare occasion I stop in in the morning-- I contemplate purchasing the terrible trio of a tastykake, an orange juice, and a bubbleyum pack. Mmmmmm... :cya:
  18. Whatever-- we'll get the Will CD soon enough. It's a DYNASTY, baby! Boston sports reign supreme!!!!!! Red Sox, Patriots... can I get some Celtics love soon?
  19. BWS: Y'all Know (although it seems I'm alone on this one) Willenium: So Fresh B2R: Block Party :ali: wanna fight?!
  20. Don't have the time @ the moment to compile a Top Ten (that'd be tough) but I like alotta the same stuff u have there bigted (Common!) and I'll also mention Jurassic 5 again (the first 6 or 7 tracks on "Quality Control" are all gold). Oh! And I gotta mention I have a soft spot for the rhymes of Young MC (the "Bust a Move" guy) on his album "Stone Cold Rhymin'," which even Will would label candy-rap (you can't laugh tho-- you ppl like Marky Mark). Oh and a great DJ cd with alotta different solid rappers on it is "Hands On" by Nu-Mark (from J5 again). Especially the Chali 2na track. Check that out, now. Oh and Nextmen's "Moving Amongst the Madness." Oh and J-Live's "All of the Above." And even tho he crosses genres, Wyclef Jean is amazing. Let's here it for disjointed, stream-of-consciousness writing!! :eek4:
  21. To weigh in on the banter concerning MC's of the caucasion persuasion: Beastie Boys are legends, and rightfully so (I also like my sugar w/ coffee and cream).... But Marky Mark? Well.... I guess he WAS one of the only rappers ever to rep for Boston... *sigh*... so... I guess he's got that goin for him... yeeeeeeeeah. (speaking of Boston music legends I'm hesitant to be proud of-- I feel the need to mention I go to the same school Joey McCyntire (spelling?) went to... impressive, no?) (yeah youre right, its really not...) :guru: (that this smiley didn't find its way into my poll is a mystery of epic porportions)
  22. Again, the easily amused thing. 'Nuff said. Here are the candidates... :ridepony: :dink: :lockd: :ahoy: :poke: :flowers: :touche: :egg: :antlers: (btw, I really don't GET the "dink" one...at all... can i get some help?)
  23. I voted for "He's the DJ," although, admittedly, along with "And in this Corner...", it is 1 out of only 2 of the 5 JJFP albums that I own in its entirety. But I've heard/own through compilation albums most of the other 3, and DJ is just top-notch, and I love the title track, to a ridiculous level. So there u have it. I gotta confess tho-- I am writing this msg mainly to give props to Hero for using the poke smiley. :poke:
  24. I very much doubt that Will is in any way saying anything about ppl somehow being "too religious," but there is definately such a thing as approaching/dealing w. religion in a way that is inappopriate & possibly destructive. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions before u hear the song. :bowrofl: (there is something very very wrong with this smiley's head...)
  25. My take: hip hop does not HAVE to come w/ a political or social msg, as was suggested by some ppl quoted in the article. Look at alotta classic Fresh Prince stuff-- just harmless, oftentimes message-less rhymes, that, as Nelly says, are fun and make you wanna dance. No problems there. But to say rap SHOULDN'T have a political msg for reasons of profit-- what a joke. Rap, poetry to a beat, is, maybe more than any other genre of music, all about expression. And if you do have somethin political u wanna say-- like Public Enemy did, like Tupac did, and as Will does (occasionally)-- you should say it when u step up to the mic. The charts & record sales shouldn't factor in to that decision. People are always ranting on these boards about the commercialization of hip hop and these quotes from Nelly exemplify that like no other. The sure-fire Nelly plan for success: flood the market with cookie-cutter rap tracks that have catchy & repetitive beats, laced w/ meaningless & interchangeable choruses, w/ unimaginative, bland rhymes in between. If at all possible, project the ridiculously tired & stereotyped image of a "P.I.M.P." that dominates the radio airwaves today. Gosh. SHAKE YA TAILFEATHA! :dancingcool: :dancingcool: :dancingcool:
