  1. lol I'm not a big Eminem fan or anything and I don't mean to stick up for him or whatever but comon, thats not that big of a deal. He's told Will's writing a diss track, and he comes back w/ a quipp about how his last few albums haven't made alot of noise. Whatever. Em's an idiot, but he doesn't deserve that much flak for that. What do you expect him to say? ... I'm first in line to point out Em's shortcomings and overall ridiculousness at times, but I don't understand what you're gettin all worked up about. I don't think that was too disrespectful or anything. Btw, everyone always talks about the "Will Smith don't hafta curse in his rhymes to sell records..." line as a "diss," but I really never thought it was. It's just the whole Slim Shady F-you persona he puts on in alotta his singles, and as stupid as the rhyme might be, it doesn't really diss FP, so much as say, screw u, I swear and that's what I do. Whatever, just saying, ppl seem to wanna make it out to be way bigger than it is.
  2. These are all good things. Huzzah? In any case, regardless of whether it's a huge commercial success or not, I'm just lookin forward to some new, quality (hopefully) Will Smith trax! First time in six years!!!!! (like Rocky V, B2R never happened)
  3. You "saw them make" this track? What? Seriously? Am I reading this wrong? :what: well back a few months ago tim had the fortune of being in the prescense of JJ+FP during an i robot premiere and he got 2 sit down with them while they were creatin a track and freestylin, etc. if u want 2 know more info ask tim cuz i'm not supposed 2 be sharin every little detail :kekeke: anyways that tracklisting sounds good. i wouldn't have minded 1 or 2 more tracks, naw mean? im also kinda bummed that there's 3 versions of switch now when i'm already not crazy about the original. but thats ok, i'll get over it. no biggie. the album will still dope dope 4sho That's pretty sweet. I, for one, am quite jealous. How did u pull that off?
  4. You "saw them make" this track? What? Seriously? Am I reading this wrong? :what:
  5. I've never heard so many ppl sooooo excited about an album cover & tracklisting. Don't get me wrong, I like the cover. It says a little about him going back to his roots, concentrating on rap. Fine. And the tracklisting looks good, I guess - as good as a tracklisting can look. But ppl really need to slow down on the expectations solely b/c of this - the music is obviously what makes the album. All this other stuff is superfluous. How could ppl possibly judge this to be one of Will's best albums... just from the packaging?? Seriously, some of u ppl and the ppl on these other linked boards are an advertising/PR guy's dream. :cya:
  6. 1. Thank u, Mimi. A tad dramatic, but I feel the same way. Some ppl need to stop bein so defensive and Chill (capital "C"?). 2. Fresh Prince = Will Smith = Big Will... i wouldn't read into it too much more than that. come & get wit it, comprehend it when i kick it / i represent the real from the beginning to the end of it (entirely unnecessary quote from j5's concrete schoolyard, which has nothing to do with anything...) :cya:
  7. You won despite "going blank" and "not being able to think at all"? Impressive. And a little confusing. Anyhoo, congrats. Someone needs to tape this when its on and post it here somehow. I demand this. :cya:
  8. :nhawong: Are you serious, guy? Your rant seems to imply we created a parallel between these two MC's skills, when all we-- or at least I-- was doing was observing a similarity in voice. Voice does not equal skills. Or style. Gosh. Ppl in this board really love giving extemporanious lectures on the virtues of true hip hop, but buddy, not only are you not making sense, but you're preachin to the choir. Maybe I'm generalizing, but I don't think there are a ton of ppl here who think Chingy is a quality rapper. Ppl really need to read posts carefully before penning ridiculous rants and labeling ppl "stupid"....*single tear*... :cya:
  9. :ditto: it's just the sound of his voice
  10. Sickest dunk contest since Vince, Stevie, and T-Mac threw down a couple yrs back.
  11. this is admittedly pretty off topic :offtopic: (i'm punishing myself) but why can't you use itunes down under? it's the internet & downloading... if you have a credit card, why wouldn't that work anywhere?
  12. *thinking about "Born to Reign"* ... (no need to respond hatefully to this, i just had to... let it go... :sonny: )
  13. not in skills, but just in voice, this guy definately sounds like a hybrid of chingy (i picked that up too) & eminem... that's the first thing i thought of when i heard it on itunes... but thanks for the recommendation, hero-- good stuff (from the 30 second clips i heard, anyway... hey, i gotta save money for an ipod!) you know it's something when Hero predicts it to be superior to L&F
  14. Anyone else emember this? ahhhhhhhhhh lol http://www.retrojunk.com/media/24/ :cya:
  15. "The Humpty Dance" by Digital Underground.... CLASSIC :dj: Also, the old-school remix of DJ Kool's "Let me Clear my Throat" w/ Doug E. Fresh & Biz Markie.
  16. Why would u ppl bother going there? You've already got a Will/JJFP forum here... and Hero was right-- those colors really hurt my eyes (I'm actually an old, old man).
  17. 1. what albums will you listen to between now and lost and found? Mainly Jurassic 5 and Jack Johnson. And Cake. A bit of Outkast perhaps. Oh and of course some Will Smith/JJFP (I've been listening to Ya'll Know incessantly for the past week or so since I re-discovered it in all its glory). 2. how high are your expectations for L&F? Well... I was really dissapointed w/ B2R and I'm not a huge fan of Switch (although I don't vehemently hate it now like when I first heard it), but I inexplicably have really, really high expectations for L&F, probably due at least in part to the sky-high optimism I'm reading on these boards. I have no real good explanation why but I think it's gonna be Excellent (note the capital E). 3. how long have you been waiting for this album(like really waiting) When this site first said that there was gonna be a new album several months ago (or so?), I started checkin every once in a while for updates... but "really waiting" I guess since Switch came out, at which point I decided to spam this msg board daily when I check my email and whatnot (you're welcome!). 4. what do you think the new JJFP tracks will sound like? Hopefully good-sounding? Hopefully a little old-school? Who knows... 5. how many tracks do you want on the new album? Whatever number, I just want quality-- no need for filler... I'd say 14 is a healthy number of songs for an album. 6. and lastly how old were you when willennium was released? You're making me do math?? Gosh. Well... I'm gonna be 18 in a couple weeks (hells yes) so I guess that woulda made me... 13? I asked for & got Willenium as a Christmas gift, I remember (that's a bonus, unsolicited tidbit of info). I think Big Willie Style was like the second or third CD I ever bought, btw-- I was in like 4th grade lol (another bonus fun-fact!). Props to Timothy for putting random smileys in the initial post. :ridepony: :grouphug: :wavey: :whip:  :poke: :music:
  18. If English isn't your first language, why would u attempt to rap in it? It's actually not bad, but I'd imagine if you tried to write it w/ the vocab and speech u were most familiar with, it would be far easier to write more complex rhymes & whatnot. I mostly say this because when I read Hero's comments, it made me think if I could ever write a rhyme in, say, Spanish. The answer is, unequivocally, no. In any case, off the topic, props for being bilingual. I'm definately jealous.
  19. That's the most hilarious thing I've ever heard (at least since I woke up from my after-school nap like 20 mins ago). I recommend that if this happens, the lucky contestants wear "jazzyjefffreshprince.com" tee-shirts in a shameless attempt for publicity and that this footage is immediately posted on these forums. (Kiera Knightly & British accents are both equally awesome...)
  20. I think everyone can tell the difference between cursing excessively for lack of knowing better ways to express yourself or cursing to promote an image (slim shady!) and cursing to a limited degree in a legitimate way of expressing something. And although it's nice that ppl can listen to Will Smith with kids or parents in the car, that doesn't make it great music! Is it an advantage to his music you may appreciate? Sure. But again, being "clean" in and of itself is no accomplishment.
  21. Things that need to be said to you 2 Yankee fans... - I concede that the Red Sox do not, of course, work for peanuts. But the Red Sox are not capable of doing what the Yankees do-- that is, buy whatever pieces they want, whenever they want them, to the detriment of MLB as a whole, so Georgy doesn't cry and throw a temper tantrum. - Suggesting that the Sox somehow "cheated" is laughable-- the only one who attempted cheating in that series was A-Rod, with his pathetic attempted swipe at the tag at 1st. This accusation shows that you cannot handle losing-- you're soft from all those WS rings you bought over the years. - How could you possibly insinuate that the infallible David Ortiz takes steroids!? Papi is just plain old nasty-- he's not on the juice. You're just bitter b/c he burned your sorry pitching rotation over and over and over and over and over... (okay, so maybe Dave could have CONCIEVABLY used a little...uh..."chemical enhancement"... but according to a certain Mr. Canseco, almost everyone else on the field probably had too, so... oh well!) - You cannot possibly call winning 4 straight playoff games and being the 1st team ever to come back from down 0-3 "lucking out." Comon. - Referring to one of the most admirable feats of stanima and guts in the history of sports as the "stupid bloody sock nonsense" is just obscene. The end. :touche:
  22. KB is right when he says there's no swear in that song-- and it is "buck" not "puck" (haven't u heard that phrase?)-- but BigTed, glad u mentioned that the cursing thing isn't that huge of an issue. Will doesn't feel the need to swear all the time and that's cool-- I appreciate the fact that he tries not to drop f-bombs left & right. But if he swore once in a while here and there, it wouldn't change a thing about what makes him great as a rapper. Some ppl only seem to like Will BECAUSE his raps are "clean," but that doesn't mean anything at all. I could write "clean" raps-- but they'd be terrible.
  23. There's a light @ the end of the tunnel w/ the me-first PG's, tho. People are finally realizing that a guy like Steve Nash gets it done better than a guy like Steve Francis. I know there aren't a ton of young PG's who are old-school offensive quarterbacks, but there are a few and hopefully this trend continues-- I especially heard great things about Shaun Livingston, the Clips rook, altho I didn't get to see him this season before he got injured. And thank God for guys like Bron & Dwyane, who are of a whole different breed from your T-Macs and Kobes (and Carmelos). Bron & Flash are guys who play the all-round, TEAM game, and know how to get everyone involved. This "team thing" really is startin to catch on again (down with offenses that setup 1-on-1 isos for their all-star while everyone sits back to watch him go 8-27 and score a couple sportscenter highlights!! thats horrible bball)! Check out the move-w/out-the-ball MoTown offense & tuff team D, the Euro-style-3-pt-extravaganza stuff goin on in Seattle, the fast-break-everyones-in-on-the-fun craziness in Phoenix, or the-always-called-dull-but-not-if-ur-a-bball-purist beautiful-basketball bein played in San Anton. As for role players, they still exist, contrary to wut the expansion-and-big-contract-dwelling-on pundits may say! Check out what Udonis Haslem is doin down in Miami-- he's the new Horace!! (excessive use of the dash? )
  24. In my opinion, G-Hill & Penny really would have been some of the greatest ever if their bodies hadn't let them down, but Vinsanity never belonged in that grouping. I know he got the "next MJ" label too but he was the most ludicris choice for that designation-- he's a slasher/dunker and whatnot, but he's not in that elite group of all-round real-deals. And of course LeBron isn't gonna be the next MJ. Nobody is ever the next anybody, if that makes sense. LeBron will be LeBron-- how great that legend ends up being remains to be seen, but what we've seen so far is a phenomenal basketball player who has combined the greatest attributes of a young Jordan and a young Magic... we'll see where that takes him, but there's no reason to believe that-- if he's healthy-- Bron won't be one of the greatest, or the greatest, ever. Kid just knows how to play the game the right way... Last but not least: BigTed, thanks for givin K-Willis some props. That guy is unbelievable. There are players in the L now who coujld easily be his son.
