The American election
JumpinJack AJ replied to Simon Lerkot Berglind's topic in Caught in the Middle
I must admit; I don't follow politics much. I would probably follow them closer if there was a presidential candidate that I was excited about...but there isn't. Traditionally I lean towards republican in the sense that more of their values line up closer with mine. At the same time, democrats traditionally claim to have plans to improve the lives of the lower and middle class. I don't have any faith an anyone running. I feel that president should be elected and that questions be asked during the election. The president's job would them be to carry out the peoples' desire rather than come up with their own plan. For example, Obamacare has no right to take my money and put it toward some slutty teenager's abortion. I'm often furious about how things are changed for the sake of being changed...NOT BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY LEAD TO IMPROVEMENT. I may make a lot of people mad by saying this, but the US frustrates me in the sense that laws are twisted and times are changing so that people can do and say whatever they want. That isn't real freedom. That's just freedom to live ignorantly and irresponsibly. This country was built on the idea of religious freedom with Biblical/moral principles. As we stray further and further from this principles, things just get worse...but since any change is supposedly good, those in political power simply pursue change in vain. I will be doing more research on the candidates. I've heard some of the things the main republican party is saying and they aren't sounding very intelligent. At the same time, I fail to see any real good that Obama has really accomplished. I've read some articles on him and all I've seen is conflicting news. I hold on to hope that things can turn around...but without discipline, who knows what will happen. This'll probably be the only time I post in this thread...but I'm curious what others have to say. -
I agree with what you are saying, but there's 2 limitations with MIB. 1) The MIB don't really have a personal life. 2) With the movies being an hour and a half (or less), there's not a lot of room for development.

Hip-Hop Mogul Chris Lighty Dead of Apparent Suicide
JumpinJack AJ replied to Jazzy Julie's topic in Caught in the Middle
I read this earlier and it really upset me. I didn't know much about Chris (other than the information in the various articles like this online. I just know he is responsible for a lot of Hip-Hop acts over the years. After all, BEP is legendary. He was one of LL's right hand men. I know his divorce must have been tough and his financial situations must of been stressful, but that stuff DOES get better. Very sad news. Rest in peace. -
Don't get me wrong, I prefer straight Hip-Hop...but this is ill. I love the piano and the experimental approach to the song. Like most of his songs, this one leaves me wishing he'd put more execution in his delivery.

Interesting. I like it! Thanks for sharing.

Sounds good! Congrats on the recording. Is it just me, or did the Lost + Found album cover inspire this pic?

I'd really like them to do something together. Since we've heard more music from Jaden, we know he's all over the place musically. I'd like to see him get away from the "radio" side of rap and build himself in a stronger Hip-Hop foundation. At the same time, their different styles would be an interesting mash-up. Why do I detect a hilarious JJ+FP skit introducing the song? Maybe a proper reboot of "Parents Just Don't Understand."

I haven't heard it yet and it's killin' me! I probably won't get to until Friday....but I'm crazy hyped.

Here's a few more details in this article... http://www.tmz.com/2012/08/22/ll-cool-j-burglary-house-los-angeles-arrested/?icid=maing-grid7|main5|dl2|sec3_lnk2%26pLid%3D195789 -
TONI BRAXTON - I Belong To You (self-titled) 1993 I'm revisiting this album for the first time in years. Such a classic.

For some reason I can't cut and past the article, but I've put the link below. It essentially says someone broke into LL's crib at about 2am last night and fought him with his bare hands and then kept him there til the cops came. http://globalgrind.com/news/ll-cool-j-robbery-burglar-home-details-photos Now, my thing is, how the heck is someone STUPID enough to beak in LL's house while he's home KNOWING he's a boxer and in impeccable shape. I just know how I feel at night when I'm sleeping and I hear an occasional strange noise...I walk the crib with a baseball bat to make sure everything is in order...LOL. Thank God this guy didn't have a gun or at least couldn't use it. Can you imagine how other so-call "bad boy" rappers would have acted in the situation? God bless LL Cool J.

I loved Rihanna when she first dropped. Her first two albums are classics in my mind and take me back to a good place. I appreciated her third album that propelled her to the success that she's at now. I don't always love all of her music now, but I remain a fan, hoping the commercial glitz will fall off soon and that the young woman on the inside will make more of an appearance in her music. This interview talks about her growing up, her career, and of course; the Chris Brown episode. If you are any interest in her, this is a great interview and shows the real Rihanna....she sans the over the top outfits, hair, make-up, etc. Check it. http://globalgrind.com/entertainment/rihanna-full-oprah-interview-next-chapter-chris-brown-video

I think it's awesome that two of FP's movies are getting this treatment. I can't wait to see ID4 in theaters again. I kind of wish they'd put I, Robot in theaters again for a week. The nostalgia would great!

JJFP - Live at the Greek Theatre, LA (1988)
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I have the bootleg of this! Old school, baby. All about energy. Skills were just a necessity back then...not rarity. -
Well, she passed away about an hour ago. She struggled a bit in the last 20 hours but she didn't suffer. 87 years well-lived.
-
My grandmother had a heart attack last night. They said the first eight hours were the most critical and she's passed through that time frame. It's very difficult seeing someone who had a huge part in raising you struggle like that. I'd appreciate anyone who would be willing to say a prayer on the matter. I'd love to see a full recovery. She's 87 and has some health challenges but I'd like to her come out and enjoy more time in a normal, relaxed state. I would hate to have her last hours/days be struggling from something like that. It has certainly put a perspective on how I've been living my crazy busy life and not having time to put into the most IMPORTANT things.

This isn't one of my first choices for a single...but I love the energy on this one. The visuals in this new video are great.
