  1. Can't Get It Back (First single off their shelved 'Blaque Out' album...I have no idea why they shelved it. The song is great, as is the album) KURUPT featuring NATINA REED "It's Over" - I love this...totally early 2000's Hip-Hop. They were once engaged and their son is now 10 years old. LEFT EYE featuring Blaque This has always been one of my favs. Left Eye and Natina trading verses on life and Hip-Hop
  2. Bring It All To Me As Is (from the Bring It On soundtrack) Jessica Simpson featuring Natina Reed "A Little Bit (Urban Remix)" ...I've looking for this promo for over 10 years...I have a copy of it to hold me over...
  3. Confirmed: Natina Reed (From Group Blaque) Killed In news that can only be deemed the most tragic of tragic, various sources are confirming that singer Natina Reed from R&B group Blaque (center) was killed in Atlanta late last night (October 26th). Details remain sketchy at present, however a number of notable Atlanta figures state that Reed died after being hit by a car as she crossed the street. The car in question is said to have then sped off. Reid, who is survived by 10 year old son Tren Brown (whose father is rapper Kurupt), was just 32. The tragedy will see many look to the untimely passing of TLC’s Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes – who many will remember championed Blaque upon their debut in the late 90′s. Lopes died, aged 30, in a car accident in 2002. Tomorrow would have been Reid’s 33rd birthday. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Natina’s family and friends. SOURCE: http://thatgrapejuic...-blaque-killed/ *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** This was depressing news for me to wake up to. I followed Blaque since before they came out. Left Eye would talk about them in all of her interviews, going all the way back to 1997 (2 years before they came out). It was obvious that Left Eye was heavily involved in their career since their style and music formula was petty similar to TLC's. I always admired their harmonies and the fact that they were one of the groups that could genuinely blend Hip-Hop and R-N-B music. Shamari's and Brandi's vocals always blended nicely (along with Natina's...she could sing) and Natina just brought fire every time she rhymed. Like Left Eye in TLC, Natina's abilities to write and rhyme got a little swallowed up in the group atmosphere, but you could see she was a great emcee. Their debut album perfectly captures R-N-B of the very late 90's. The sound of the music, the singing style...it all takes me back to 1999. Having their second album (Blaque Out) and their third album (Tourch) shelved Columbia and Elektra were true injustices. I have copies of both promo and they are both excellent and show some growth between the 2 years that took place between each album. Last year a shorter version of Blaque Out was released as an MP3 album, which was nice to see. However, it had no promotion and I assume was just pushed out for the loyal fans. I didn't know it was released until today when I went to see if there was any music I missed over the years. 808 (Produced by R. Kelly) 808 (Remix) ...this remix (heavily sampling LL Cool J's "Going Back To Cali" got just as many spins as the album version) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHDLFKmPygk I Do featuring Left Eye
  4. I really love this speech. He's showing genuine appreciation to the people who DESERVE it (God, family, and fans). He laced it with seriousness and a bit of comedy. He was in such a great place at this time. It's time he be reminded of that commitment. We need some true Hip-Hop and some true positivity on the radio NOW.
  5. I'm lovin' the interviews. He's being treated like royalty over there and I love it. I also like how in the Jazzy + Skillz interview, Jeff has assumed the aggressive role role. During JJ+FP interviews, they are both funny, but Jeff is the laid back one. He's taken the other role since Skillz is so laid back...lol.
  6. Never seen these. Everyone looks depressed in the first one. And I bet Alfonso is glad that picture exists...LOL
  7. DMX, MOS DEF, JOHN FORTE, MIC GERONIMO, CANIBUS, + BIG PUN - Cypher (1998?) DMX posted this on his Facebook and it's the first time I've ever seen/heard this. THIS IS SO DOPE. I've never seen such a random group of emcees coming together so casually during early stages of their careers and just rhyming and supporting each other. While I normally favor Hip-Hop from 1988-1996 the most, lately I've been missing the late 90's...and this was my perfect fix.
  8. It looks '89 to me. I'm not saying I don't believe this story. I just want to see a more official article. Like we've already said, it's just so hard to believe it took them this long to come with with dirt on him. PLUS the article quote just doesn't "scream" FP.
  9. I'm surprised this took so long to dig up. That's really weird since we live in a time where we celebrate mug shots and love to seeing famous people "do badly." In the industry, the entertainer always catches the heat when they didn't do anything. That's the way it's always been. At least Charlie didn't bite off his face.
  10. Ha! Very good point. I genuinely like most of their work though. When I think of late 90's Hip-Hop, they are probably my favorite production team. The fact that most of their less-inspired stuff got more shine on FP's first 2 albums was a little annoying, but overall I think they made great music. I wonder if they are still working together.
  11. I saw this when Jazzy posted it on Twitter which is linked to his Facebook. For some reason my computer won't download it properly. If someone wants to email it to me, let me know. I saw a lot of good reviews on it.
  12. Good Lord, thank you for sharing this Chris. I'm instantly this guy's fan and will be checking out music tonight. I hardly ever put explicit stuff on my FB wall but this is one of the songs that has earned it! On a separate note, I recently got into F. Stokes (who opened for Arrested Development when I saw them a week ago). He's an artsy, intelligent emcee from Chicago who kinda reminds me of Common Sense at time. He's also an incredibly nice guy.
  13. I didn't really go out of my way...this video was dropped in front of me and thought a few people might enjoy it. I couldn't believe someone would act this way in front of a judge. I just thought the awareness that the person he is in real life is just as awful as the music he makes should be shown. In this sense, he actually "keeps it real." Quite a feat for an "artist" of his caliber. If you can think of a more accurate way to title this thread, I'll open to suggestions.
  14. If there's anyone who doesn't think Lil' Wanye's an idiot, watch this...
  15. This list is NOT complete. I think we should create our own list. Awesome pix tho.'
  16. That pic is legendary!! I've never seen it before! Each group is missing a member in this pic...lol.
  17. Yes, I got it of Ebay. Forget how long I had it...but when I bought my house, it was the 1st pic I hung...lol. I had been watching it for years and eventually there was one that was only $10. It's 24x36. The Homebase one is smaller and square so there's more frame tucked behind the Code Red one. If I pulled it out more you can see the Homebase, Summertime, and Ring My Bell covers. I'd like to get "The Things You Do" in there two but I don' wanna buy a$12 single PLUS shipping just to fill more of the frame...lol. And I'm not taking the insert out of the one I already have.
  18. Hey all, since I finally have some free time I posted a picture in Jazzy's Throwback Thursday for the first time in months. I was hoping you guys could show your support by liking my pic. It features a lot of my JJ+FP collection.
  19. I'd like to see more articles like. I'll probably be listening to BWS all day 2morrow, now.
  20. I love this song. First and foremost, the beat is DOPE! It's a legit club beat...which so much better than the watered down dance pop we're often stuck hearing in top 40. It reminds me of a fresh version of 1996-1998 club music. I like how Jaden is comfortable on the track but as always, I wish he'd liven up his performance. Willow continues to be this wiser-than-her-years-artsy genius. The visuals, the color, and the dancing make it a great video.
  21. Ha ha...I'm pretty sure he's wishing we never saw this....lol.
