  1. I figured with the new album about 2 drop from one of Hip-Hop's legends, it'd be best to start a new topic. LL's 'Authentic Hip-Hop" drops FEBRUARY 12TH! Here's the lyric video, which has been widely panned by fans due to it's watered down sound. I'm personally not a fan of the tired beat, weak chorus and silly female vocals. Even his rhymes come off rather weak, though I'm not completely against the topic of the song. LL's response is that the song is straight comedy. After less than 2 weeks of "Ratchet" dropping and being panned, he put out the YouTube video for "Take It" featuring Joe. This song pretty much put the album in redemption mode quickly. Classic flow, dope lyrics, flawless beat, and Joe smoothing the whole thing over. The song will be available for download this week! The tracklisting for the album is: 1. Something About U (FTW) 2. Where Ya At (BOSS) 3. Take It Featuring Joe 4. Closer Featuring Monica 5. Too Late 6. New Love 7. Dream With Me 8. Girl So Bad 9. Ratchet 10. Bartender Please 11. Bath Salt 12. Getting Paper 13. Jump On It 14. Hell Yeah 15. 2. Time 2 bump this post back up... KURTIS BLOW - Christmas Rappin' (1979)
  3. I feel that the artist making the song and the subject matter is what makes it good. Run-DMC's "Christmas In Hollis" is classic. No Christmas is complete without it in my opinion. I would put JJ+FP's "Family Christmas" and Kurtis Blow's "Christmas Rappin'" behind that joint. Ludacris' "Ludacrismas" is just silly and I have problem with that. Kanye's "Christmas In Harlem" is pretty wack in my opinion. Like I said above, I love the beat and chorus, but the artists/subject matter is awful.
  4. I partially agree. I don't think that a Christmas Hip-Hop song reaches for any serious or emotional depth. I look at is a way to sprinkle the season with something lighthearted and fun. Believe it or not, I actually kinda like the Ludacris song. I kind of wish he focused on R-N-B/Soul and Pop music mostly but I'm still enjoying it.
  5. Wow! No replies. Has anyone peeped it? Thoughts? Opinions? Personally, I loved that he used both TLC Christmas songs even though only one of them was a single. There's actually 2 old school Hip-Hop Christmas songs towards the middle that I was unaware of that I'm gonna look for. I wasn't crazy about one of the cussing. Christmas music with cussing just doesn't seem right to me. The mix reminded me of the Ludacris' song. I never knew about the Kanye West Christmas song. I love the beat and the chorus...but Kanye's lyrics are stupid and his voice is awful (as usual). I like how his mixes and samples the Chipmunks in the middle of it. I will say that I'm surprised that he didn't include a Boyz II Men Christmas song. I was listening 2 the mix 2day while driving and I definitely feelin' it for the most part.
  6. I think I just found a gem. I'm not sure if this is a song that didn't make it on the Nuttin' But Love album or if it's a remix of "Nuttin' But Love"....but to me is a totally different song. I just purchased the vinyl promo single because this is dope!!
  7. I was in an FYE once digging for music. I overheard this awful acting and dialogue. It was annoying me greatly. Eventually I looked up at a TV screen and saw that it was Twilight. It was the first one. I knew it was never worth giving them a try after 20 minutes of hell playing in the background of my shopping experience.
  8. Jeff has been hard at work. He just put out a holiday mixtape!!! It's a great mix of old a new featuring music of all genres. The only problem is that it's missing JJ+FP's "Family Christmas." Here's the link: https://www.facebook...h=3AQECBEkR&s=1
  9. I've kinda wondered this as well. Since Jazzy runs in his own circles, he probably seems more untouchable to some or less thought of. He's so laid back about music and creating it that I see him creating strictly for himself and his inner circle and only stepping out when someone goes out of their way to ask him. So many people have stepped away from using a DJ, and if they want one, there's plenty of young, eager guys out there who will do it for a #7 combo at McDonald's as payment. It would be very cool to see him step out of the box and offer to work with likes of LL Cool J, Rakim, KRS-One, Nas, Common Sense, etc...
  10. I'm indifferent. I'd like to see it in theaters again, in 3D would be an interesting perk. Overall, I don't care much. As long as they don't make the ill fated sequels, I'm happy.
  11. FEBRUARY 12TH, y'all. It's comin'!!!! I like that he released "Take It" as a single 2 weeks after "Ratchet"....he certainly listened to the fans who weren't feeling it.
  12. MC Hammer is a beast when it comes to the moves. Plus he's only person who I think doesn't look ridiculous in Hammer pants. I was hyped when I found out he did this, but I think Psy and is music are a complete joke. Needless to say, I had mixed feelings about this. A lot of the energy from the crowd was going out towards MC Hammer so that's a great thing. I'd love to see him come back and get that kinda reaction. LL COOL J + BUSTA RHYMES - Starsky + Hutch Phenomenon (1997)
  13. 2PAC - Krazy Makaveli: The Don Killuminati - The 7 Day Theory (1996) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4IQVM8hGmM
  14. She's made a career of making herself unlikable. It's sad but she's talented and could be doing so much more.
  15. CHRISTINA AGUILERA - Blank Page Lotus (2012) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pri4Y2RP60U
  16. One track? Screw that noise. I want at LEAST 3!! Dream big, baby.
  17. I think it's commonly known that we'll all be happy to take WHATEVER we can get. LL Cool J casually and randomly would drop a song prior to his new album forming. He was just being free with it. I wish FP did it. He'd be able to try things and keep a small presence in between albums.
  18. 2PAC - Dear Mama (Big Mama Mix) Dear Mama 12" Single (1994) Man, the 3 remixes on the 12" are just perfect....so much better than the more popular Moe Z single that made it on some CD single releases. They NEED to release a CD set with all the remixes, alternate/clean versions, and instrumentals from all of his singles.
  19. I don't know if I'd consider it interesting. It sounds it'll just be loaded down with classic. I'm sure that'll make it better than his last. I liked the last one but found it hard to swallow when it came to the newer songs on it that sucked. I'm STILL not happy that he never did that Heavy D mixtape.
  20. Funny....I laughed out a loud a few times.
  21. Nah, I love the beat. It's classic, straight Hip-Hop. It's got the mid-90's, late night, cruisin' music vibe. The chimes, the piano, the smooth sound. I love it. I hate when beats are doing too much and distract from the lyrics, which should always be the focus of a dope Hip-Hop song. I love that he worked with true R-N-B legend like Joe when he could have easily gotten with a newer artist. I also love his delivery on this. On a separate note, I was digging through used CDs at this one store today and picked up a Columbia Record compilation called Everybody Dance Now from 1991. It has the Crypt 12" Remix of "Around The Way Girl." I didn't even know this remix existed!!! It's not too terribly different from the original version but I loved hearing one of my favorites in a new way.
  22. I have a lot of hope and I'm not sweatin' it. I'm only frustrated that it's taking this long. I don't take his occasional rhyming as teases...simply signs to less us know that more of it is in the future.
  23. REDEMPTION!! CHECK LL'S NEW TRACK. I guess he wanted to clean up the poor response that "Ratchet" received last week. LL COOL J w/ JOE "TAKE IT" THIS IS SO DOPE!!!
