I love that....you can feel the culture at the time. Hip-Hop was new and buzzing, yet established and known to the rest of the world.

Can someone post a specific link where I can vote. It's taking me to a page with lots of things to vote for and I couldn't find the DJ one. On another note, vote for the Fresh Prince at this one... http://ryanseacrest.com/2013/02/18/semi-finals-whos-the-best-rapper-of-all-time/

Gecko Bomb - My latest and greatest video
JumpinJack AJ replied to Silver Tiger's topic in Caught in the Middle
I wasn't a huge of this one. I felt there were a lot of filler gags and that some of them were milked too much. I loved the Petco stuff though and seeing you run at the end in that costume...lol. -
Boom! Shake the Room on X Factor

Yeah, I was a little annoyed at that too. Between the show and performers, SOMEONE should have mentioned them. -
Will Smith and Kanye West track
JumpinJack AJ replied to Big Ben's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I was thinking the same thing. If he didn't contribute to a song, I'm wondering how many studios he's going to hang out at before he realizes it's time to seriously record music for a full album. -
Boom! Shake the Room on X Factor

I actually really like L.A. Reid and completely respect him. He was a big force behind Hip-Hop, R-N-B, and New Jack Swing making the mainstream in the late 80's, 90's, and currently. I never watch this show, but from that clip, he seemed too negative and opinionated. I've never seen him that way in an interview or anything else. I like that they switched the song up. In many countries the song isn't memorable enough to do it in the same fashion. I would have considered it to be very well done karaoke if they didn't switch the song up. How old is this? Did this group go anywhere? -
Boom! Shake the Room on X Factor
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
That was fun...except for the switch they did after the "1st verse." I love the re-worked beat and how they embraced the song. L.A. Reid was way to hard on the song. -
That's a dope mix! Can anyone share the download? I really don't feel like giving that website my credit card information for a free download.

I just want to say that I'm really enjoying the series. I look forward to each episode. I also love the music that's being used. -
Will Smith and Kanye West track
JumpinJack AJ replied to Big Ben's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
As I remember, Kanye produced a track for Lost + Found. However, I find it hard to believe that that happened and it didn't make the album since using Kanye's name would have been a selling point...especially in 2005 before he delivery got awful and his beats got inconsistent. I'm less excited to hear a latin flavored song but I'm game for any new music. -
The article above is from okayplayer Rapper Tim Dog Dead at 46 (from Examiner) Hardcore Bronx rapper Tim Dog has died at the age of 46 due to a seizure stemming from complications from diabetes. Born Timothy Blair, Tim Dog came on to the scene in 1991 with the song ‘F*ck Compton’ from his debut album Penicillin on Wax. The controversial song took aim at N.W.A., Eazy-E, and Ice Cube and planted the seed for Rap’s East Coast/West Coast rivalry. West Coast rappers MC Eiht and DJ Quik recorded diss records aimed at Tim Dog but none was more popular than Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s ‘Dre Day’. Tim Dog released four solo albums and a handful of mixtapes in his recording career before transitioning into a behind the scene role in the music business. The late rapper also penned a book titled Who Killed Hip Hop?! In 2012 Tim Dog was featured on NBC’s Dateline for running online dating scams with various women. Blair pleaded guilty to grand larceny for conning a love interest out of $32,000. He was ordered to do five years of community service and repay $19,000 of the $32,000. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qucruBnaBlk

Tim Dog Dead At 46 Tim Dog died today after suffering a seizure believed to be related to his battle with diabetes. He was 46. Tim came to prominence in the early 90′s with his single “**** Compton,” an angry response to the growing dominance of West Coast hip-hop taken from his debut album, 1991′s Penicillin On Wax. The song took shots at the members of NWA, and even elicited a response from Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg on the song “Dre Day.” “**** Compton” is regularly included on lists of the greatest diss records of all time. Tim Dog was in the news again in 2012 thanks to an appearance on Dateline NBC in an exposé regarding an online dating scam in which he was involved. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwzeM2J3Emk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BCvDXRyPoE

Here's an information-lacking article about them staying in the same hotel in Brazil. There's pix of them on the balcony. This is where FP got that video that he posted on his FB a couple of days ago. http://globalgrind.com/entertainment/brazil-balcony-hotel-kimye-kim-kardashian-kanye-west-will-smith-photos-video?gpage=5#gtop -

LL COOL J - AUTHENTIC HIP-HOP
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
I love it....he rocked it at the Grammys!! Oh hey, Hip-Hop. Welcome back! LL Cool J, Grammys 2013: Rapper Releases Song He Performed at Award Show LL Cool J closed the 2013 Grammy Awards with Chuck D, Tom Morello, Travis Barker and Z-Trip. Now he's releasing the song he performed. "Whaddup" features all the aforementioned and is from Uncle L's new album, Authentic, due in stores May 7. Because CBS cut the performance off during the Grammys, it was hard to tell whether or not the song was any good. Younger fans were probably scratching their heads -- why is the guy from NCIS rapping? -- while old folks were likely glad to see hip-hop finally get some shine. But sometimes it's best to hear a new song removed from the celebratory manner in which it's revealed. That said, "Whaddup" is actually pretty good. But don't let us sway you. Take a listen and let us know what you think. Should these guys hang it up or keep rocking? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h6uXhgMIU0&feature=player_embedded#! -
Will Smith and Kanye West track

I have a feelin' FP has been taking the Justin Timberlake approach to music. He's quietly working and all of a sudden we are going 2 get a single with an album to come a couple months later. -
'Higher Baby' Official Music Video
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
MY EYES HAVE FINALLY SEEN IT!!! I believe this only aired once. When I was 12, I remember KNOWING that a JJ+FP video was going to play during an Olympic event and I missed it. My friend saw it and said "they made a new video for a new song." Even though he had Homebase on cassette (I was jealous because his had the Mr. Lee Remix of "Ring My Bell" and mine didn't) I thought he was just mixed up and that they played another video for an album cut. As I think back, I was at his house when MTV first aired the "Ring My Bell" and "Things That U Do" video so I guess I should have known better. A few years later I found out about "Higher Baby" and was in denial that they would have made a video for a non-single compilation song. I heard there was a video for it over 10 years ago but was still slightly skeptical. I can't believe I've finally seen it. I only wish there was less NBA footage...and more JJ+FP...and that the audio synced up. -
I like that she's mature enough to pick and choose things this way. To be honest, I'm a fan of Annie and I don't know that it needs to be done again...at least not with Jay-Z involved. If it was going to be done, I think it would be a great vehicle for Willow though and she would probably be great in it (that's coming from a critical person who has done the musical twice). She's only one year older than the character. I find it hard seeing any of the kids making a serious music career out of random downloads, YouTube videos, and mixtapes. I think they have they have talent (tho' Jaden's uninspired vocal deliver is tired to me) but they don't seem to be trying to make actual albums.

I've never seen the "Boom! Shake The Room" performance. I remember on one of his "Props To Hip-Hop" episodes, he showed a short clip of it along with other legendary artists. That's how I even found out about the performance. it was the only Code Red performance they made together on the show.

I think this is my first time hearing this as well. The crazy thing, I loved the Arsenio Hall show and watched it almost every night...but I NEVER saw JJ+FP on the show together. I'd catch it when Jazzy was cuttin' and scratchin' with the band and I'd catch FP on solo interviews, but I never caught them on the show together. I think they were on Arsenio together 4 times through it's 5 year run.
