1. Yeah, the Limited Edition (which i have no seen in stores where i live) has a 2nd disc featuring the album vesions of the songs Jeff uses in the mix. I may get it whenever i find it but i'm in no rush.
2. The US release for I, Robot is July...the album has been in works 4 ever but Will told and inside source that he thinks that the music industry is so messed up right now that it's not ready 4 him right now. We can't 4get the Sharkslayer/Sharktale movie and soundtrack on it's way.
3.
Actually, i'm pretty sure ludacris Graduated from College.. :)
I think u are just making fun of my statement. But 4 those who think i'm saying those guys literally flunked outta skool...i waz making a joke that alot of these new cats are so wack and untalented that i don't consider them new school Hip-Hop...they flunked outta the new school...they are just...bad music makers.
4. Well, there's different things 2 take in2 consideration. U can rap fast or slow, agressive or mellow...u'd have 2 specify 4 me 2 choose what song would represent a certain quality of his flow.
5. Old school is late-70 to about 1988. It basically covers the pioneering days 2 the golden years. I wouldn't call anything from the early 90's new school...but it's definitly not old school. I would consider new school whatever is current. Of course most current rap isn't Hip-Hop music...so i wouldn't even consider the popular stuff any kind of school. Ja-Rule, Ludacris and all those cats flunked outta school...ha ha.
6. I'm not pick...i just want new music. Just traditional FP/WS music. As long as the beats are good and Jazzy Jeff is somehow involved, i'll be happy. I don't care what kinda label he is on as long as FP has most of the control of what is promoted.
7.
Holdup a minute! Did I hear the words "new album"?! Fill me in! :peace:
Back in 1999, she said she'd probably do another album. Most of us started loosing hope but just last year she announced that she was working on a new album.
8. Man, Will dosen't get any airplay in the US anymore. About 4 months ago, "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" came on a Top 40 radio station and i waz on my way 2 work. I got so hype...however, as the 2nd verse started, the station totally went out. It just cut off...i left it on 4 another minute hoping it woudl come back in...but it didn't.
9. The Roots usually have creative videos...what waz this one like? More importantly, what waz the track like? Waz it like that jazzy, soulful Hip-Hop stuff they did in the mid-90's or is it the experimental kinda stuff they did on their last album (which i bought and never listened 2 after the 1st listen).
10. Is it coming out on Region 1 (USA/Canada) format also? I waz really mad when the ALI DVD had basically no bonus features. If it's coming out in the US, i'll definitly get it.
11. I don't understand why and Eminem song is on the vinyl if it isn't in the mix?!?! It isn't "When To Stand Up" is it?
12.

I remember when Will said "Will 2K" waz far the best song on the album...it's funny when he's open about what he thinks is good and bad about his own work.
One thing I find funny is how he changes his mind on what's good and bad...for example, when Wild Wild West came out, he said it would be huge and that he loved it. Then, Big Boy asked him what movie he didn't like and (just cuz it didn't do good at the box office?) he said WWW is wack. :dunno: Will could have probably rapped on "Freakin' It" without the sample 2 get rid of the "popish" vibe. Listen 2 the track again, and imagine him rapping it over the scratches and maybe a drum beat with some bass. The closest 2 that is probably the House Mix. It could have been a song like "Break It Down" on The Magnificent album.
Well, when u are promoting a brand new movie, u can't exactly go on Late Night with David Letterman and say "my new movie is kind wack, but be sure to see it"...ya know? At the same time, there's a chance that during some promotional spots, the movie wazn't totally finished yet and Will hadn't seen the complete product. And about "Freakin' It"...i think the lryics are fine, it's just that Trackmasters jacked a beat that has literally been used over 100 times. With the correct beat under his lyrics, the song could have had a chance at being huge (cuz it would have been a better song).
13. We used 2 have AOL JJ+FP chats all the time but hardly any of those users use AIM anymore. When my schedule frees up, i'll definitly be in the JJ+FP chat here tho.'
14. There's an Eminem track on the vinyl version...now i guess i gotta get that. But i don't understand the purpose of a mixtape if it stops and u have 2 flip over the vinyl 2 finish the mix.
15. I remember when Will said "Will 2K" waz far the best song on the album...it's funny when he's open about what he thinks is good and bad about his own work.
16. Christopher Williams' biggest album is 1992's "Changes" which i have. It's that classic early 90's Uptown Records stuff (Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Heavy D + The Boyz, Father MC). In the mid/late 90's he got in trouble 4 not paying child support but he released at least 2 other albums ...none of them which had much success.
17. I LOVE Kiss The Sky. And i'm not saying that just cuz i love Tatyana Ali. I didn't expect her album 2 be bad or anything, but when i heard her album, i waz incredibly impressed. It waz the summer of 1998 (a great tyme 4 me) and the "Daydreamin'" video waz all over BET. I also waz really in2 Lord Tariq + Peter Gunz so this song waz just the jam 2 me. I went out and bought the single. A few months later the album dropped but i didn't get it the 1st time i saw it in stores, i just looked at the back 2 make sure JJ+FP wazn't on it. This waz the fall of 1998, then they premiered her "Boy You Knock Me Out" video which waz just as dope as "Daydreamin'...then it went in 2 FP's rap. I freaked out, grabbed my keys and headed over 2 the music store. I got the album and popped it in the CD player and waz so mad that his rap wazn't on the album. That didn't matter 2 much tho' cuz i thought the album waz brilliant. I love every single song on the album...especially "He Loves Me." Luckly i found the "Boy You Knock Me Out" import CD singles and got the remix with FP's rap shortly after. Everytime i pop that album in, it just takes me 2 when i bought it. Life waz really different back then...some stuff good...some stuff kinda painful, but the music just takes me there the way only certain music can. Kiss The Sky is highly underrated and i can't wait 4 her next album 2 drop.
18. Oh yeah, and neither videos got much airplay. I watched RapCity and other shows and BET and MTV and only caught each video twice b4 they stopped playing them.
19. Here's my take on the whole thing... "So Fresh" waz the 2nd single. However, Columbia would have nothing 2 do with it. Will produced and paid 4 the whole video himself. On most versions of the "Will 2K" single, "So Fresh" waz the b-side, which didn't make it neccessary 2 have it released as a single itself...but Columbia wouldn't actually support that any way. "So Fresh" waz only released as vinyl promo 2 Hip-Hop DJs backed with the Acappella and Instrumental. I doubt Columbia even helped Will distribute the video, he may have had 2 do it himself. Either way, "So Fresh" is what Will wanted...after all, he is the one who paid 4 it and he's the one that masterminded all those cameos 4 it (Biz Markie, Slick Rick, Nice + Smooth, Flava Flav, Juice Crew, M.C. Shan, Roxanne, Kango Kid, Maseo, etc). I strongly believe Columbia pushed "Freakin It" 2 be released. Look at the facts, it the weakest (or at least one of the weakest) songs on the album...do u really think Will chose 2 release that as a single and as a proper repersentation of the album?!?!? "Freakin' It" waz actually intended 2 be the 1st single off Willennium but as the release date waz established and "Will 2K" waz recorded, they switched it. Trackmasters were (maybe still are) the head of Sony's urban department...what better way 2 get paid than force your own trax 2 be singles. The main reason i believe Will didn't really care 2 release "Freakin' It" as a single is becuz when he went 2 Hype 2 the video, he said "if we had no money...what kinda video would we make?" That's straight from Will Smith Ultrasound (i think). He told Hype that he wanted 2 make the movie without spending hardly any money on it. No special efx or crazy scenes in it...it's just FP runnin' around Philly. Will didn't wanna release this as a single so he didn't put any money in2 the video.
20. I've loved "Can't Wait To Be With You" since the 1st listen. I just loved the Luther Vandross sample and the fact that FP produced such a fly beat all by himself. The lyrics always stood out 2 me. On top of that Christpher Williams waz doing his thing back then...so it waz nice having him on the hook.
21.

Now if I want to stick to a lyrical point of view, there's no rapper in history that could talk about anything and everything going on in the world with more emotion than 2Pac
KRS? And I never said Tupac was bad I never even said Will was a better actor then him you should just chill lol Tupac is a great rapper, but everyone is just making him into some kind of God wich he wasnt he is not in a class by his own, he had girl bashing, money flaunting, violant music more then he made the deep music, lyricly he was good yes but not the best ever, the reason why everyone digs Tupac is becouse he was the real gangsta (or atleast coused everyone to believe so, i dont know) had a big mouth and got shot leaving behind alot of music... (and also ofcourse becouse he wrote some beautifull meaningfull raps)
U got 2Pac all wrong. U sound like u got down with him during the All Eyez On Me era which dosen't represent him any better than Big Willie Style representing Fresh Prince....it simply dosen't show what they are really about. 2Pac waz not a gangsta rapper and he often said he wazn't in interviews. He's a multi-faced artist and it it looks like "fans" just amped up one side. He had the political side, he had the artistic/creative side, he has the warm loving side, he had the street side...and of course the loud mouthed, flossing side. He waz doing all that b4 it got really big tho'....and so many people copied his style that we are now sick of that. I think 2Pac is the most misunderstood emcee 2 ever.
22. It's also hearing a mixtape that isn't filled with music that sux. Mixtapes these days are usually a collection of the most talent-lacking people in Hip-Hop. Jeff fills it up with good music. Jeff also dosen't overdue the DJing. He mixes, blends, and scratches stuff tastefully. Some DJs sample the same bar like 20 times in a row and make think 2 yourself "move on...i've heard u play that line 100 times back 2 back"...Jeff just keeps moving on and dosen't destroy the songs. Lastly, i like the way he occasionally tags the mix with his signature "he's jazzy jazzy jazzy..." rather than obnoxiously screaming every few seconds over the mix. Bottomline, this is what mixtapes are meant 2 be like...this is what current so-called DJs have forgotten about. The kinda mixtape where u play good music and no try 2 steal all the shine. Go on Jeff...skool these new skool fools.
23. I knew i waz right...but it waz scaring me that nobody agreed with me...ha ha.
24. Man, i havn't really cared about Cypress Hill since the mid-90's...but i'm always willing 2 give anything a listen.
25. I finally found the album (at FYE). I'm so happy with it. It's just a great mix of 90's Hip-Hop tho' it also has some new skool on it as well. The amazing thing is that Jeff compiled and mixed this stuff that u can't really tell a difference in when these trax were recorded. The mix just seems like it waz meant 2 be this way. Dope stuff. I'm gonna have 2 get the double disc version sometime when i find it. I need one copy 4 da crib and one 4 da ride. Jeff mentions "Big Will" in the Thank U's.
