1. The way u all have replied 2 this post is only support what i'ma say...so don't get offended. People are just 2 ignorant these days 4 people 2 do anything creative, new, or different without people misunderstanding it.
2. I like the new joint...but i think Never Say Never is a master piece.
3. My definition of Gangsta Rap is anybody who copied N.W.A., Ice-T (and related artists at that time in the late 80's). They made hardcore Hip-Hop....it waz a different branch of Hip-Hop...but all the wannabes who monopolized and copied it are gangsta rap. Phoney guys who lie in their music, try 2 be hard, and have not one drop of creativity in their music....that's gangsta rap. That's why JJ+FP stands against it so much...who would wanna be a part of that. "Afro Angel" is a perfect example of Will being as real as it comes, but it wazn't "gangsta wack" at all. It's just honest and depicts life in all honesty...almost sounds like something straight outta 2pac's rhyme book.
4. I don't "hate" anything...i just can't stand his music. Don't get me wrong, i like a few trax he's been on, but overall, i hate his music. One of the 1st trax he did waz "Fat Rabbit" on Timbaland's solo album and i loved that song....i've just been more and more disappointed in what's he's done in recent years.
5. Please tell me u are kidding. There isn't any "gangsta" rap on the album at all...so that's definitly not why he didn't include any stuff from Will. Jeff would never wanna do a gangsta rap track and even if he did...Will wouldn't do it.
6. If Ludacris knows what good music sounds like...why dose his suck so much?!?
7. Will waz right when he said nobody could say anything bad about "Summertime."
8. Thanx everybody!! 2day waz a nice laid back day. Got plenty of calls, voice mails, and e-mails from friends. Some of my friends came back from their colleges 2day which waz extra special and i just spend all nite hanging out. I also got spoiled with all kinds of stuff which i'll talk about later. Thanx again, y'all!!!
9. Thanx, man!! The last year has been very hard, painful, fun, confusing, etc....but it's definitly been an experience. 2day i plan on just letting all the struggles and stuff sit so i can have some fun and spend time with good friends. After the day is over, i'll just return 2 "life" and see what moves i can make 2 get things back on track.
10. I don't know...i think it could be a bit self-indulgent or cheezy 2 put yourself out there like that. I think the style of Hip-Hop that he featured on it waz kinda tight...very much the same kinda stuff. If JJ+FP waz on there, he would have had 2 put more different kinds of Hip-Hop from different extreems of Hip-Hop on it. Sure, Wu-Tang and Tribe Called Quest are very different Hip-Hop groups, but the sounds he chose by them (or their respected members) kinda fall in2 the same area. On his "The Vibe I'm On" mixtape, he puts the SoulPower Remix '98 of "Summertime"'s instrumental undera DMX track.
11. No way...he probably even 4gets about some of the songs he's recorded. Infact, during Willennium, there waz an interview where Will talked about not knowing one of the lyrics 2 "Parents Just Don't Understand"...so there's your answer...that's even one of his biggest hits.
12. That is so cool!! Talk about timing. 2day is my birthday, that kinda stuff is supposed 2 happen 2 me...ha ha.
13. Everybody knows i'm very much against the whole internet music sharing/swapping thing. However, i waz wondering how many JJ+FP MP3s we can find on the internet of unathorized stuff. Anybody who can find any interviews or UNATHORIZED DJ remixes of JJ +/or FP stuff, post it here. U obviously can't buy radio interviews or DJ made remixes that aren't copywritten and i think we are all desperate 4 something new 2 hear from them 2gether or individually. I just got extra interested in stuff like this after that 2001 Will Smith radio interview waz posted a lil' over a week ago. I'll be looking around the internet when i have time. Whoever finds anything, discribe it and post the link here. p.s. Somebody please find Will trying 2 sing "Mmmbop" or those crazy covers of "Summertime" and "Boom! Shake The Room"..ha ha.
14. FP won't release an album unless he feels the time is right. In a 1997 interview (with some magazine...Source or US i think), he makes a comment something like "i've been ready to record this album for years but the time wasn't right until now"...basically saying he waz ready 2 come out 4 awhile but with the murders of 2pac and Biggie and Hip-Hop being ready 4 some fun again, he felt it waz time 2 grace Hip-Hop with that Fresh Prince style it waz missing for so many years.
15. Def Squad (Erick Sermon, Keith Murray, Redman) did a cover of that 6 years ago...i think it may be a bit 2 early 4 another remake. I don't think any of those rapper y'all suggested would fit on a posse cut remake of that song tho'...most of those rappers don't know how 2 rock a track house party style. Leave it 2 the legends and those qualified 2 record it. JJ+FP, Run, L.L. Cool J, MC Lyte, etc.
16. Yeah, there's alot of business moves he's making but that kinda stuff dosen't stick in my head until the finished product is out.
17. I respect that people have different opinions...but i don't respect everybody's opinion. Not everybody has the intellegence, experience, understanding, etc...2 form opinions 4 me 2 respect.
18. Yeah, the Limited Edition (which i have no seen in stores where i live) has a 2nd disc featuring the album vesions of the songs Jeff uses in the mix. I may get it whenever i find it but i'm in no rush.
19. The US release for I, Robot is July...the album has been in works 4 ever but Will told and inside source that he thinks that the music industry is so messed up right now that it's not ready 4 him right now. We can't 4get the Sharkslayer/Sharktale movie and soundtrack on it's way.
20.
Actually, i'm pretty sure ludacris Graduated from College.. :)
I think u are just making fun of my statement. But 4 those who think i'm saying those guys literally flunked outta skool...i waz making a joke that alot of these new cats are so wack and untalented that i don't consider them new school Hip-Hop...they flunked outta the new school...they are just...bad music makers.
21. Well, there's different things 2 take in2 consideration. U can rap fast or slow, agressive or mellow...u'd have 2 specify 4 me 2 choose what song would represent a certain quality of his flow.
22. Old school is late-70 to about 1988. It basically covers the pioneering days 2 the golden years. I wouldn't call anything from the early 90's new school...but it's definitly not old school. I would consider new school whatever is current. Of course most current rap isn't Hip-Hop music...so i wouldn't even consider the popular stuff any kind of school. Ja-Rule, Ludacris and all those cats flunked outta school...ha ha.
23. I'm not pick...i just want new music. Just traditional FP/WS music. As long as the beats are good and Jazzy Jeff is somehow involved, i'll be happy. I don't care what kinda label he is on as long as FP has most of the control of what is promoted.
24.
Holdup a minute! Did I hear the words "new album"?! Fill me in! :peace:
Back in 1999, she said she'd probably do another album. Most of us started loosing hope but just last year she announced that she was working on a new album.
25. Man, Will dosen't get any airplay in the US anymore. About 4 months ago, "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" came on a Top 40 radio station and i waz on my way 2 work. I got so hype...however, as the 2nd verse started, the station totally went out. It just cut off...i left it on 4 another minute hoping it woudl come back in...but it didn't.
