  1. Yeah, i'm listening 2 the "Who's The Man" soundtrack again. The 2 big hits off it were the ones by Mary J. Blige and Jodeci. I think House of Pain's track waz a single also. Heavy D is my favorite artist on the soundtrack, but his song isn't one of my favorites. It's one of his rare reggae trax that he's done and it features Beenie Man. It also has Biggie's 1st big appearance (as BIG). "Party And BS" is and ill track back when he waz a raw, hungry emcee (none of that Big Poppa stuff). The best song on the soundtrack is easily Pete Rock + C.L. Smooth's. U should check the movie 2. I havn't seen it in ages, but it's a silly Hip-Hop flick featuring Ed Lover and Doctor Dre as cops. It has tons of Hip-Hop cameos like Leaders of The New School and Kris Kross.
  2. Whoa, i can't wait til they bring out the other posters. Seeing FP in choths that fitted is just kinda strange. The zoned-out expression on his face and the shadow/hair combination dosen't look that flattering. I like the way he's leaning on the movies title tho'...The Last First Kiss is still a better title.
  3. Woman Says Police Used Excessive Force at Airport Surveillance Video Looks Routine at First, But Then Takes a Violent Turn "A woman waiting to pick up her mother at the airport in Atlanta says she was dragged from her car by an officer who used excessive force. A lawyer for the officer says he "did not do anything inappropriate." (Dec. 1) - She was dragged out of her car at an airport, slammed to the ground and handcuffed by a burly police officer in full view of a security camera, but Diana Dietrich-Barnes says there was absolutely no need for the officer to use such excessive force. Dietrich-Barnes, 43, was at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Nov. 2, waiting to pick up her mother. After circling the airport several times she stopped to check her mother's itinerary. A few moments later, Officer Terence Alexander approached her sport utility vehicle and told her to move on. In the airport surveillance video, her car then appears to briefly back up. Then a police officer opens her car door, yanks her out and throws her to the ground, where she is handcuffed. No fewer than seven police officers surround her. Recounting the scene on "Good Morning America" Monday, Dietrich-Barnes said she was shocked when she saw the excessive use of force in the video. "The whole time I'm laying on the ground, I'm upset, I'm yelling and screaming," she said. "I didn't want my mother to see me like that. It would have been a horrible experience for her to come out and see her daughter laying face down on the concrete with a police officer on top of her." No Use of Excessive Force A lawyer for Alexander disputes Dietrich-Barnes' charge that excessive force was used. "Officer Alexander did not do anything inappropriate, he remained calm throughout the procedure and Ms. Barnes was belligerent, she refused arrest," said Lecora Bowen, Alexander's attorney. On Monday, Dietrich-Barnes had her day in court. Clayton Circuit District Attorney Bob Keller and the judge agreed to drop the charges after viewing the surveillance video. "A failure to obey a command that was given like that is not one that I felt like rose to felony criminal violation proportions," said Keller. Alexander, who says he was injured during the incident, is on paid leave while the police department investigates the incident. 'I Was Hollering for Help' Dietrich-Barnes maintains that she was trying to comply with Alexander's orders to back up as there was a truck ahead of her, when he pulled her from her vehicle. She also questioned police accounts that she injured Alexander with her mirror as she attempted to back up her car. "I have a brand-new Ford Explorer, and they have breakaway mirrors and my mirror was not touched at all," she said. But most upsetting, she said, was the fact that she was characterized as being belligerent when all she was doing was screaming for help. "I was hollering," she said. "I was hollering for help, for people to see what was happening to me. This kind of incident has happened at the airport before. So, I wanted people to see what was happening to me." Meanwhile, Dietrich-Barnes' lawyer, Steven Lister, is considering taking further legal action. "We're examining that possibility," Lister told "Good Morning America." "I would say it's a very real possibility." ------------------------------ I saw this story on AOL and it just disturbed me. It also supports my believe that lots of people who are in uniform simply have issues and should have 2 prove themselves worthy of aquiring their job.
  4. AOL has it on their music feature First Listen. They were streaming it for 24 hours...i'm not sure if it's still up. Either way, the wait isn't 2 long.
  5. Who knows. "Just Cruisin'" waz a big hit tho'...at least when it came 2 video play. Since Eminem makes music 4 commerical/pop audience, he always attacks what's popular (or most of his fanbase wouldn't get half of his music. Think about it, on The Slim Shady LP, a great Hip-Hop record, he has that Dee Barnes line in "Guilty Concience." Only Hip-Hop fans would know what he's talking about...outsides wouldn't. With The Marshall Mathers LP, he started attacking people like Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. People with a commerical knowlege of music (often crappy pop stuff) will pick up on that quick. He hasn't made music 4 real Hip-Hop heads in awhile so lots of his lyrics are aimed at things in pop culter. "Just Cruisin'" waz big...if he wants 2 take another shot at FP, that would be it. Who really cares what Eminem says tho.' He's a joke. All the things that made him good in the beginning are gone. His lyrics aren't impressive anymore, his voice and flow is not only wack and annoying, but he also has no credibility in the world of Hip-Hop anymore. FP joked about his fame fading in the end of 2001...well, i think we are experiencing the first installment of Eminem's fame fading. Think about it, his core audience of supporters (like myself) have abandoned him becuz he abandoned us.
  6. I just haven't been able 2 get in2 Nas since the late 90's. The music just hasn't been the same...at least not the full albums. I picked it up and looked at it yesterday thought the that the album cover design waz wack...but i do wanna give the album a listen. With the holidays approaching, i sometimes can't stand being in stores cuz so many people are in their...and music stores during the holidays tend 2 have alot of people buying music by artists they know nothing about whether it's 4 themselves or for Christmas presents. There's nothing worse than having a bunch of uneducated people in a music store asking U 2 help them out when u don't work there.
  7. I've just heard 2Pac's new single "Ghetto Gospel." I love this track. Totally postive (and clean)...not a sign of his Deathrow era stuff on this joint. The vocals are from about 1993. The beat is pretty good but nothing mind-blowing. Eminem produced it. Don't ask me why they would go 2 him when there are much more talented and experienced producers out there. It's not bad tho' and he uses this amazing vocal and piano sample from Elton John's "Indian Sunset." Very much like what he did with "Runnin' (Dying To Live)." Creative? No. Good? Yes! For those that don't know, the new album is titled Loyal 2 The Game. Eminem produced the whole album, which bothers me. While 2Pac affiliates like The Outlawz and Nate Dogg are on the album...sadly, Eminem has brought his wack friends 2 put them on the album (himself, G-Unit, Obie Trice). I'm hoping his production and guest artists don't ruin 2Pac's legacy. The good newz is that there 4 or 5 remixes at the end of the album by other people like DJ Quik and Raphael Saddiq who remixed the trax, and probably fixed the wrongs that Eminem may have commited with this legendary artist's music. The cover is very cool. 2Pac from the Me Against The World era w/ gold glasses and white clothes. The style of the album is much like the most recently released 2Pac albums. Oh yeah, and it drops December 14th!!
  8. Man, i'll listen 2 anything Brian McKnight touches. He's a genious. When i heard he worked on Justin Timberlake's album, i gave that track he did with him "Never Again" and it blew me away. I might have 2 check out this album.
  9. 2PAC feat. ELTON JOHN - Ghetto Gospel
  10. Welcome 2 the board!! I remember this visual 2 this. FP is rockin' a hat 2 the side dumb dancin' like crazy...but the funniest thing is Jazzy. His body is really still behind those drums, but as u can hear, he's beatin' the crap outta them. The drumming is totally made up, but FP is screaming a song by Technotronic called "Get Up! (Before The Night Is Over)." Technotronic is known best for their song "Pump Up The Jam." They were a fly Hip-Hop meets Club music, meets R-N-B group from the late 80's/early 90's. Ya Kid K waz the emcee of the group who also rapped on the Hi-Tek 3 track on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles soundtrack on the song "Spin That Wheele" and she also released a solo album in about 1992ish.
  11. I'm dreading news of the album being bumped back...but i'm always excited knowing that something is coming out.
  12. DJ JAZZY JEFF + FRESH PRINCE - Boom! Shake The Room (Block Party Mix) "Eminem" and "classic" in the same sentence...something ain't right there. Boogie Down Productions, Eric B. + Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, and Brand Nubian might have something 2 say about that.
  13. I good some oldies but goodies this weekend. Kenny Lattimore's 1996 self-titled debut. Cherekee's 1998 debut album. Who's The Man Soundtrack (1993 feat Heavy D, Pete Rock + CL Smooth, Father MC, Mary J. Blige, Jodeci...my cousin got it when it 1st came out, but it waz time 4 me 2 finally get it).
  14. I think it's funny how some people don't age. Alfonso is one of those people.
  15. Jay-Z had nuttin' 2 do with "Just Cruisin.'" FP and Nas wrote that song, which he is credited for. FP even talked about it in The Source, he wazn't trying 2 keep it secret ghostwriter style. "The Rain" is amazing tho.' JJ+FP fans don't underrate it, and i think if it waz a single, NOBODY would underrate it. Well maybe all the people who bought Encore.
  16. When u are a very sucessful artist, Colubia lets u do what u want. When u are not in the top 10, they control alot of things. Look at Big Willie Style. They pushed for what singles were chosen and how it waz promoted, which worked 4 the time. With Willennium, JJ+FP had lots of control over the album (obviously, it waz dope and they were executive producers). Columbia just handeled promotion, which is what makes dope albums misinterperted by the publice and earning it sales that could have been bigger.
  17. U are probably talking about Jason Nevins' South Beach Dub. There's and actual remix (not Dub) with the full verses and not just vocal samples. While the beats a similar, the South Beach Dub is actually a lil' better than the one used 4 the remix.
  18. Everytime there is a musical event with an disclosed appearance by an artist, someone makes a post thinking it's gonna be FP premiering "Switch." I think we should stop guessing with stuff like that cuz it's probably not gonna happen. I have a feeling FP isn't gonna try 2 catch us off-guard.
  19. LFO has nothing 2 do with the point i'm trying 2 make. I'm saying, why listen 2 an artist when u gotta complain about them...that's silly. I don't like 2 defend the music i listen 2, so i think it's funny 4 someone 2 say they are listening 2 an artist but then saying how they used 2 be talented.
  20. I always thought "Miami" waz the weakest track on BWS and one of the weakest songs he's ever done. I waz amazed and disappointed when i 1st saw the video since there were so many other songs on that album. Remember Columbia wanted 2 keep outting out that jiggy Trackmasters stuff. The 'Miami Mix' is the best version of it...alot more energy 2 it and better production (by the legendary Miami Sound Machine). There's also a club remix of it which is very much your basic club mix.
  21. I agree totally. They should have stuck 2 the original plan of releasing "Afro Angel" as a single. The production is flawless and very musical (not your average boom tap boom boom tap). When an artist like FP makes a song like that, that really means something, they usually do well. That song waz exactly what he career needed at the time (and still could use).
  22. Stop complaining about artists who might have some talent like 50 Cent or Eminem but don't show any proof that they really have any. Why not listen 2 artists who have talent 2 spare and show it on a regular basis. BLACK EYED PEAS - Fly Away
  23. U can't release singles intended 4 a smaller audience without a bigger single 2 serve as the A-side gaining more success. "Will 2K" did well but waz too time sensitive, "So Fresh" waz 4 the old skool fans, it didn't get play or support, "Freakin' It" didn't get play or support either. The media and Big Willie Style fans totally turned their back on him. Unless he waz releasing on of the top 3 songs on the album as a single, it waz wise 2 just let it go.
