  1. Yeah, her new album is dope. It a very solid and timeless R-N-B album. I think "Everytime The Beat Drop" (the 1st single) is the only weak song on it. I defintly urge R-N-B fans 2 pick this up...especially if u like any of her past work.
  2. I liked The Velvet Rope...but i thought it's direction waz choppy. It definitly had heavier subject matter. I think an album in that direction would be a good start.
  3. Yeah, Justin gets way 2 much play. I like him...but "Sexyback" is wack...and the song is still in heavy rotation...like after 3 or 4 months. I think All For You and Damito Jo were much better than 20 Y.O. I just think the sound waz much richer and the lyrics stood out 2 me much more. I've been thinkin' Jimmy Jam + Terry Lewis have gotten kinda soft on their sound. Some people wanna blame Jermaine Dupri for the weaker sound of the album, but i can't see him giving Usher and Mariah Carey the flawless production he has and not even the same or better to his own girlfriend. I just think it waz time for another album like janet. I think JD needs 2 stop having So So Def as in imprint with a distribution deal and make it a label all itself.
  4. I could see this happening. JD just isn't the big label type...unless it's a Hip-Hop label. Janet's new album is average. And it's easily her weakest album. The label's promotion isn't very good...and i feel Janet did her part. I think she needs 2 regroup and come back after a break with a thicker sound. Her sound is just 2 sweet and light. If that's in her heart, fine, but i think she's stuck in the same place that she has been for past 5 years. She's also been living really good for awhile so maybe she's lacking fire and inspiration behind these newer songs. There's definitly some edge missing from 20 Y.O.
  5. I wish this were true...but i can't see him stopping recording 4 no reason. It would be a dream come true. Wack title tho.' It looks like he actually has a good line up of producers...2 bad that won't mask trash lyrics and wack flow.
  6. U skipped over "Just Cruisin'" and "Will 2K." I went with "Just Cruisin'" (Other). That's one of his best songs ever. And "Black Suits Comin'" waz popular...as a minor hit, it did get decent radio play (the original and the remix). It just didn't stand up 2 most of the other singles when it came 2 success.
  7. 2PAC + SNOOP DOGGY DOGG - Wanted Dead or Alive (Clean Version) Wanted Dead or Alive (Promo CD Single) - 1996
  8. Man, now i gotta round up some pictures of me with huneyz.
  9. Absolutely. I think it's important 2 give back. I actually grew up very bitter at my parents (for no legit reason.) Now it's weird cuz i've grown, and i wish i wouldn't have been that way. Now, even after my heart has changed, it's hard 2 me 2 be close 2 them like i should be. I have about 3 thousand dollars that i owe them (that i'll pay off very soon)...but i intend on giving them more every once in awhile. I also make time 2 do random things like clean out the garage 4 them, clean out their cars, etc. They are totally capable of doing that stuff on their own, but i think it's important 2 give back, reguardless.
  10. Well, when u put the doctored 2Pac stuff up against the current stuff getting success, it obviously will be better simply cuz 2Pac actually wrote good lyrics and had flow. But the majority of it simply isn't as dope as it would have been. Listen 2 "Better Dayz" and compare the remix of "My Block" to the original. That remix is dope...definitly worthy of being released. However, the original is still better and the production is alot more simpler. Then check "When I Get Free"...the doctored verson on Until The End of Time is no where near as good as the original. Back 2 that interview bit bigted posted...if u are a 2Pac fan, u should pick up the unathorized interview album "In His Own Words." The interview is good. U see the mellow 'Pac, the amped up angry 'Pac...but it's all good. There's even Naughty By Nature's "Morn You Til I Join You" on it. There's also those 2 trax Trapp doctored and a "new" song retitled "In His Own Words" with the Outlawz. It a random freestyle verse thown on a beat with the Outlawz filling it out and interview snippets mixed in 2 the end.
  11. SILK - Now And Forever Now And Forever (2006)
  12. If 2Pac were still alive, and kept up with feuding...he would have destoryed most of the rappers having commercial success in the last 10 years. I agree that he wouldn't stand for the many wack cats getting airplay and success. He would have called them out and gotten rid of them. He wazn't scared 2 do that kinda thing.
  13. 2Pac said in many interviews that he wanted be "like Scarface" and drop an album every 5 years or so. But when he felt disrespected by Biggie and his camp, that feuding fire kept him going...which piggy backed the fact that he waz recording non-stop 2 fulfull his Deathrow contract and get off the label. He also said many times how he wanted people 2 say "u remeber when 2Pac waz real bad?" I think that 2Pac would be doing just that. I could see him dropping albums like Me Against the World that were loaded with intellegent and deep lyrics. I could see him switching labels and living a safer life away from negative people and staying outta trouble. In between albums, i would see him collabing with the most talented artists and West Coast artists. In between those albums, i could see him building a very impressive acting career. I could see him ending all the beefs he had lounging with the legends of 80's and early 90's Hip-Hop legends.
  14. Yeah, i love 2Pac's music...even the stuff he never intended on releasing. But i'm sick of the doctored stuff. Most of the producers aren't providing beats on a level of quality that 2Pac would have accepted. And lets be real, these new school cats have no business being on the same track with him. If they are going 2 do an album with new school collabos, they should have kept the original beats and previously released album music and gave talented emcees ones verse that could be added on2 the original track. I just wish she'd release the trax in their original form. And if they aren't totally finished, the only person allowed 2 touch those trax would be the original producer of the song.
  15. Well, i only listened 2 Ludacris' album in a store. And i'd have 2 say "Lost + Found" cuz when i peeped the album, it didn't stand out 4 me enough 2 even remember it. Ludacris isn't my kinda artist, but i still listened 2 it in stores cuz i try 2 give everything a chance and while i thought there were a few good beats on the album, none of the album stood out as very lyrical 2 me. Looking beyond the actual music...if u are going 2 put Ludacris up against the Fresh Prince...i don't think Luda has a chance.
  16. This all seems unnecessary 2 me. I heard this on the radio last night.
  17. Yeah, the show waz dope. Of every award styled show, this is the one i look forward 2 every year. I think this may have been the weakest of all the shows...but that isn't a bad thing, it waz still good. I actually didn't like the Beastie Boys tribute that much, it just seemed kinda under rehearsed. While more than half of the tribute performances were good....ALL of the artists who were being honored ROCKED it. Rakim showed us while most arists these days need to follow the leader. His new song waz ill. MC Lyte rocked it 2. I think Da Brat repped female emcees to the fullest...however, i could have done with Lil' Kim and Remy Ma. They didn't deserve 2 be on that stage. Why waz Yo Yo and Salt-N-Pepa there and NOT on the stage alongside her instead. Ice Cube also reclaimed his crown. I also liked the Eazy-E tribute. So many people, including alot of people on this board, underestimate him and it waz about time he get a tribute. Same with Afrika Bambada...he's so overlooked these days. Black Thought, Talib Kweli, and Q-Tip did what they do best...just rock the mic. But what waz up with Q-Tip's 1989 haircut?!? The show waz dope...if u missed it, catch the reruns!!
  18. 2Pac isn't a gangsta rapper. Listen 2 his lyrics. I would consider him a street poet and versitile artist. He did political Hip-Hop, hardcore Hip-Hop, true school Hip-Hop, party jams, everything. Only his time on Deathrow really showed the unbalanced 'Pac who dedicated alot of his lyrics 2 over-the-top street stuff. On top of that, 2Pac and FP were actually cool. FP does like the early 90's harcore hip-hop and g-funk...but there waz actually some brains involved in that. He respect Dre's and Snoop's stuff. U gotta remember that Ice Cube mixes hardcore Hip-Hop with political Hip-Hop. Dr. Dre's stuff mixed classic P-funk with hardcore Hip-Hop, and Snoop's music is an extention of Dre's style. While i don't like cussing and over the top thugged out stories, alot of that music kept my attention. What is considered "gangsta rap" now is just a joke. No classic samples, introspective political views behind the lyrics. In fact, usually there isn't any redeemable quality 2 the music. I'm not totally overlooking some of the talented artists like Snoop...cuz he's guilty of that from time 2 time 2. Back then, FP actually listened 2 that stuff along with true school Hip-Hop. He stated that in interviews. As Mr. Nice Guy/Team Player, FP supports everyone...but listen 2 "Lost + Found"...need i say more?!?
  19. MC LYTE - Ruffneck (Live) On the VH-1 Hip-Hop Honors (2006) Man, i wish they'd release a CD with the audio of these performances.
  20. One of my friends/co-worker's grandmothers had a stroke 2day. It's always a rough time when someone who is a parent figure is suffering or passes away. I talked 2 her and it didn't sound good. I'm just asking that everyone lift her up in prayer in hopes of a recovery. If it's her time to go, i'm asking for guidence, wisdom, and understanding for my friend and her family. What makes this extra painful is that her grandmother raised her...not her real mother (who got more involved in her life later). She's 26 years old and still stops by her grandmother's house every single day.
  21. 2 KEV: My best advice would be getting your name out there and trying 2 start relationships with people in a similar field. Book have lot of info, but experience is the best teacher. I've learned so much by doing theater and i've learned alot about business since i've taken over the photography studio i work at. U just wanna soak up all the knowledge u can and never let it go...if it doesn't apply 2 something now, it will later. Approach someone who can give u the game or take u under their wing by talking about THEM and praise their work and success. That will get them on your side and let them know u are interested in what they do and see if they'll give u a job or share info or even show u around. Be bold but curtious. 2 JULIE: I think that your situation is easier than u think (not that i know tho'). I think maybe u should take a break when the guy comes in next time. Be outside when he leaves so u can be there 2 attack...ha ha. Spark up a convo by talking 2 the dog and then talk about the dog or ask ?uestions. From there u say how u've noticed him coming and ask if he'd like to get together.
  22. JANET JACKSON - Accept Me Every Time (Import CD Single) (1998) I just got this single...not only do a love the club mix of "Every Time," but this b-side is dope. Janet's new album is okay...but i wish her music was more on this level of quality.
  23. Looks like a Jackass skit waiting 2 happen. :)
