Album Cover For LL's "Todd Smith 2: Return To Cool" Album
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Yeah, that's a crazy mix of emcees. It's the most random posse cut ever...it'll either fall flat on it's face or be a stand out track for all of Hip-Hop. -
So do you think LL's trying to knock out Jay-Z?
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
All i'm gonna say is this....somebody's got 2. And who else out there has the skillz 2 do it? -
Interesting discussion in this topic

MeLindaLee is probably the biggest JJ+FP fan here. -
I'm not sure if this has been posted, but i waz watching Soul Food 2nite and the acrtess who played Will's mom waz featured on the episode. I'm not sure when the episode 1st aired, but she has a big part in this one episode. She plays an author who writes a book about children with learning disabilities. One of the couples on the show have a daughter who struggles a great deal with learning how 2 read, so the mom purchases her book and goes 2 signing. At the signing they meet and the author desides 2 spend some time with their daughter and determine what may be the best way 2 help her advance at school. During the episode, she almost comes off kinda controling in a weird way, which is a turn off to the mom who thinks she's a bit parent-like with her daughter. She offers to have their daughter stay at her school for 2 years with a full scholarship which should find out the best way for her 2 excell in school. Eventually they have a talk and deside that the school is a good idea for her. I know that the story sounds kinda wack, but if u like the show like i do, u'll like this one. It's good 2 see the cast of FPofBA doing their thing.

I got Snoop's album. It's the 1st Snoop album that i bought as it released and tho' it's not my favorite flava of Hip-Hop....i like it alot. Definitly one of the best in recent years...also one of his top 3 (tho' i don't have ALL of his albums...i'm missing 1 or 2). Sometimes i think it's silly that me and half of the people on this board talk about the state of Hip-Hop and it's music so often...but at the same time, the emcee's and rappers are doing it 2. Interviewers are asking about it. It's actually a suddle way of showing that we all think it sucks and that it's time for a change. Thanx 4 posting this.

Usher did his thing in Light It Up. I didn't see In The Mix...but when it comes 2 Light It Up...he tore it up. I'm excited 2 see him do his thing. And i understand where Jamie is coming from...but i think he should leave that situation alone. He's got alot going 4 him right now and whether that guy deserves a beating or not...Jamie needs 2 be bigger than that.

I think it helps. I mean, after u see FP do his thing in a good movie, if u leave the movie theater and hear a new FP song on the radio...u are more hyped 2 get it. If u aren't a huge fan like some of us...a good movie will give u that extra push. I don't think there's really anything wrong with that...as long as there aren't track like "Black Suits Comin'" coming out regularly. At the same time, alot of mainstream fans don't see FP as the emcee he truely is. So while those movies may help bring more fans 2 his music, i think respect 4 what he does musically is more important.

Album Cover For LL's "Todd Smith 2: Return To Cool" Album
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I know what u are saying...but let's be real. I'm expecting there 2 be some good trax w/ DJ Premier...but i expect some crappy stuff 2. If most of the trax are anything like "Bump This," this is a move for the worse. -
SNOOP DOGG - LAX Tha Blue Carpet Treatment (2006) This album isn't perfect...but better than most of the stuff coming out these days. Snoop is definitly taking steps in the right direction.

Album Cover For LL's "Todd Smith 2: Return To Cool" Album
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Man, this sucks. I'm really upset that LL is working with scum like G-Unit and Lil' Scrappy. This is just embarassing. Props for getting Big Daddy Kane, DJ Premier and Will.I.Am on the album, but i'm just feeling really bad about this whole thing. "Bump This" is a pretty crappy track. The beat isn't bad, it's just insanely unimaginative and common. And Lloyd Banks and Hot Rod suck. I'm also kinda upset that the album is getting an explict lyrics sticker. Would he be getting that if he wazn't working with some of the losers that he is? For his last few albums, he waz giving praise 2 God and saying how his choice 2 not cuss waz gonna hurt his sales, but that he didn't care. I'm wondering if this'll be kinda like Run-DMC's "Crown Royal" where they didn't really cuss, but some of the guests did, getting them a sticker. I guess in this crappy time for Hip-Hop in the mainstream, we should just be happy he's coming out with something. After all, he's just trying 2 get off the record label formally known as Def Jam. They didn't even do a photo shoot for the album. That cover pic waz from the last albulm's photo shoot. I have a feeling this will be a forgetable step stool 2 his next album that should be dope. -
Yeah, thousands of people really want a new JJ+FP album. I think if the fellas really knew how strong the demand waz, they'd do it. I honestly think the only reason they haven't done it is cuz they don't think the demand is there or that the album would come of relevant enough 2 gain real success.

Ha ha...i like John Mayer...but i wouldn't consider him an R-N-B or Hip-Hop artist...ha ha. Thanx for posting...i think i'll go cry now. -
Happy Thanxgiving!! It waz nice 2 not work for once!! I could get used 2 this...oh wait, i gotta be at the studio at 5:30 am...i guess i can't. Curse u, Black Friday!!

I have heard Jay-Z's albums!! I even have a few that i picked up used for like a dollar or 2 just for a cameo from an artist or producer that i like. I'm not pulling my opinions outta thin air. We don't have 2 fight over a difference of opinon. And FP has never been about bling. He'll tell u he's one of the best emcees or throw out a materialistic line here and there as a hit below the belt for those wack rappers who worship money and material things. Reasonable Doubt waz Jay-Z's only good album...and it's still not on the level of anything like Me Against The World.

That's a good track!! 2PAC + KEYSHIACOLE - Playa Cardz Right Pac's Life (2006)

Just building off the original post...i really don't like alot of things about music these days. The whole downloading thing is wack 2 me. So many artists are being hurt by this. Cheap unsupportive wanna-be fans are just downloading music with no intention of ever buying it. I guess it's cool if u download it just 2 peep it out, but there's more people who do it just 2 get music for free. With artists like FP, those sales actually mean ALOT. Imagin if everyone who downloaded "Switch" actually bought the album. It would be at least double platinum. Actually buying the album, poppin' it in for the 1st time and hearing 4 the first time, cheching out the art, reading the Thank U's...all of that is a package 2 me. That's why i dont' download music unless it's an unathorized live performance or remix. Of of my favorite artists whose album i'll buy even if it's wack. On top of that, people aren't requiring much from the people they buy music of. I mean, if they really like it, that's their taste, but there are people who are 20 and 30 years old buying music who write hooks like "now walk it out, walk it out, walk it out, walk it out, walk it out, walk it out, walk it out, walk it out." ...R u kidding me?!?! These people need 2 demand skillz, demand lyrics that mean something...real lyrics, demand respect, demand intellegence. And that goes for any kind of music...but especially Hip-Hop music. These young kids just don't know better cuz they've never heard of De La Soul, Brand Nubian, etc. It's just depressing. I gotta shut up b4 i get worked up...ha ha.

I've never seen Jay-Z as lyrical. Girls, bling, bragging...a lil' guns, a lil' sex, and lots of cussing. That's just an uncreative turn off 2 me. His stuff isn't imaginative at all. Snoop has much more 2 say to a more mature audience...but i wouldn't even consider him very lyrical. When i think of lyrics...i think of Rakim, FP, Talib, LL, Lyte, Chuck D, etc.

Black Eyed Peas Nab Three Awards At AMAs
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I taped the show but haven't watched it yet. I love that BEP was won. Man, u guys really have it in for them. BEP is the ONLY people repping Hip-Hop...positive Hip-Hop at that on the commercial side. They are crazy creative, talented, rapping, writing, producing, dancing, etc. And best of all, they are HUGE fans of Hip-Hop. In the past year, they've had 2 "My Humps" and "Pump It" doing well...that's why they are eligable this year. Hate 'em or love 'em...at least the award isn't going 2 Lil' Jon or Young Dro. -
Will's says he still loves hip-hop
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Ugh...i don't know why he would gravitate 2 50 Cent for something like that. I guess since his nephew is younger he's doing for the current sound of commerical rap. 50 Cent wants 2 get involved with as much as he possibly can, and this way he gets 2 work along side a legend. Thanx 4 posting this...i'll be sure 2 check the interview...but why wasn't it posted here!?!? ha ha -
2PAC f/ Hussein Fatal, Papoose, Carl Thomas - Dumpin' Pac's Life (2006) This is one of the few joints i'm really feelin.'

I've loved Tyrese since he did his thing on that Coke commerical. I think he's got that raw talent. I can't say i like the idea of him only doing movies...cuz even tho' i think he has skillz...i won't really see his movies unless they look really good...not just cuz he's in it. He's rhymed on passed albums and he's good...but i don't care 2 hear that 2 much...his regular music is where my hearts at. Everyone of his albums are good.
