  1. Co-Sign on that one. I was about to give it "2 Bits"(for those of you who don't know what it means, 2 bits equals 50 cents) but BET is a huge part of the media that continues to glorify this trash.
  2. Which one of these clowns made the biggest fool of themselves in 2005: 1. 50 Cent: for general purposes but specifically for "praising" President Bush's "gangsta 50 CENT has made a surprise move by stepping forward to heap praise on beleaguered US President GEORGE W BUSH. While Bush is facing growing criticism from American citizens and celebrities, including rapper KANYE WEST, former crack dealer 50 Cent has expressed great admiration for the Republican leader. He says, "(The president) is incredible... A gangsta. I wanna meet George Bush, just shake his hand and tell him how much of me I see in him." 2. Kayne West: for being incredibly arrogant... and controversial at the same time "If I don't win Album of the Year, I'm gonna really have a problem with that," said West. "I can never talk myself out of [winning], you know why? Because I put in the work. I don't care if I jumped up and down right now on the couch like Tom Cruise. I don't care what I do, I don't care how much I stunt — you can never take away from the amount of work I put into it. So I don't wanna hear all of that politically correct stuff. You put the camera in front of me, I'm gonna tell you like this. I worked hard to get here. I put my love, I put my heart, I put my money [into Late Registration]. I'm $600,000 in the hole right now on that album and you tell me about being politically incorrect? 3. Bow Wow: for being maybe the dumbest 19-year-old on the planet Bow Wow: "....he did his little rap thing first. But to me honestly, Will wasn't like a real rapper. He was more like a gimmick. Then he zapped into get a TV show, and it was poppin. Then after that he was in Hollywood. So things with came easy for him. With me, I'm a rapper. I ain't with the whole coloful cornball-type things. That's just not my style.." BET: The program director who bans real hip-hop With Little Brother's The Minstrel Show hitting stores next week, SOHH.com has heard BET is refusing to air the album's first video, "Lovin' It" because it is "too intelligent for the BET audience." SOHH.com contacted several officials at BET, including their vice president Stephen Hill, their program director, and publicist, Michael Llewellen who offered this response. "It's not true, not in that context. BET reserves the right to show or not to show music videos of any type based on the network's own standards and decision-making processes," Llewellyn told SOHH.com.
  3. I think the song is pretty good... and funny. I want to say that Will was actually #27 on that list. I remember that show(40 Least Hip-Hop Moments). Back to KJ-52, the song had a real nice beat and I've always liked KJ's flow. He doesn't mind poking fun at himself. I just wish that KJ-52, along with Cross Movement, Da T.R.U.T.H. and other Gospel rappers, would get more shine. The message is always positive and never really preachy. These cats just spit truth in their rhymes. Man, a change has gotta come in hip-hop... :paperbag:
  4. Hmmmm... let's see. A decent singer & model turned horrible actor now wants to rap? That's like Michael Jordan trying his hand at baseball... wait that happened too. What the hell is Tyrese thinking? This may be worse than Kobe Bryant's attempt at rap. At least Tyrese is using Ice Cube and Yoyo as opposed to Kobe using Tyra Banks. :paperbag: :dontgetit: :eusa_naughty:
  5. Mary J. Blige has been a fixture in R&B for nearly 15 years. Dubbed at age 19 as the "Queen Of Hip-Hop/Soul" Mary J. has blessed us with some of the best R&B music in recent memory. While she worked mostly with P. Diddy on her early work, she won over new fans with 1997's Share My World and 1999's Mary with a more mature sound. Sadly, Mary regressed with 2003's Love & Life. Ironically, she reunited with P. Diddy to release her weakest album and had many people wondering if she was on the way down. Fear not, Mary fans. She's back and has regained her mature sound that she blessed us with in '99. The Breakthrough is Mary's most complete album since 1994's My Life. It's also ironic that 1994's My Life, hailed by many as a classic album, was when Mary was at rock bottom personally. Here on The Breakthrough Mary has come full circle and it shows. Many have heard the blazing-hot single, Be Without You. I will contend that it may be just the 5th or 6th best single on the album. The stand-out tracks are No One Will Do, Enough Crying, About You(feat. Nina Simone & The Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am), Take Me As I Am, Can't Hide From Love(feat. Jay-Z), Can't Get Enough, I Found My Everything and So Lady, both featuring Tony! Toni! Tone! frontman Raphael Saadiq. The only slipup I could find is MJB Da MVP. It's not the song itself but it's the fact that she samples The Game's Hate It Or Love It chorus(and the fact that 50 Cent sings the chorus on Hate It...). All in all, it is a nearly flawless album from the Queen and I'll go on record saying it's the best R&B album of 2005- period. Grade: 5 out 5 stars
  6. OK, but still he's supposed to the baddest rapper on the planet. Surely he can take out Jay-Z, right? I mean he is the top dog in rap now, right? 50 Cent is a clown and won't take on emcees he knows he can't beat. He can't beat Nas but for some reason Nas doesn't get quite the shine that Hov does.
  7. So now that Nas and Jay-Z have buried their hatchet and become friendly, does that mean that 50 now has beef with Jay? 50 has said that anyone who befriends people he has beef with then he has beef with those people. Since Nas and Will are friends and Will is cool with Jigga, does 50 have beef with Will? And how come 50 never went after Jay-Z when Jay said on a song, "I'm worth about a dollar, who the F*&^ is 50 Cent?" Maybe because he knows that Jay will crush him? Good read btw. I may not like all of Jigga's songs, but I respect him and he is one of the nicest MCs with one of the sickest flows in the game.
  8. I'm probably going to get clowned on for this but I think Jay-Z's flow, not his lyrics, are sick. Rakim, Biggie, and FP also come to mind when I think of tight flows.
  9. My list has changed a bit: 1. The newly single and soon-to-be-Mrs. TopDawg... Gabrielle Union Gabrielle Union 2. The always sexy... Angelina Jolie Angelina Jolie 3. The stunningly beautiful... Scarlett Johansson Scarlett Johansson 4. My favorite female athlete... Serena Williams Serena Williams 5. And finally... Sofia Vergara Sofia Vergara
  10. RIP Richard Pryor He was the greatest comedian of all-time. Yes, I said it, the G.O.A.T. Better than Cosby, Eddie, Seinfeld, George Carlin, Chris Rock, better than them all. For those of you who are still wet behind the ears, rent his comedy stand-up movie, Live At The Sunset Strip. After watching that you will understand why he was the greatest. Richard was light years ahead of the game. Like Marvin Gaye, Richard's comedy was way before its time. There was no subject that was off-limits to Pryor. Simply put, he set the bar that comedians like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle are still trying to reach today.
  11. The list of nominees were announced this morning for the 48th Annual Grammy Awards. Unfortunately, Will was not nominated for any award. To see the full list of nominees, go to 48th Annual Grammy Award Nominations
  12. I don't think you're going to see an interracial romance. I know a lot of us may be colorblind when it comes to this forum but the fact is that this country(the U.S.) still is not ready for an interracial romance in a movie - especially if it's a black man/white woman. * Will once said in an interview about Hitch that when he was considering his co-star that he couldn't choose someone who was white because America wasn't ready for it. * Denzel Washington caught a lot of flack for a love scene he did with Milla Jovovich(sp) in He Got Game. * Denzel also caused controversey when he wouldn't do a kissing scene with Julia Roberts in The Pelican Brief. The movie was based off the book and in the book Denzel & Julia's character become intimate. Julia wanted to do the scene but Denzel refused because he felt it would cause a major ruckus. The fact remains that in 2005 America still has problems with interracial romances. You may have seen white men with different races of women do well but rarely has a movie done well with a black man/white woman romance(and before anyone says what about Hitch, Eva Mendes is Latino). It is a shame that in 2005 we as a country still are divided by racial lines but it is the truth. Having said all of that - I'd love to see Gabrielle Union co-star with Will.
  13. These are some of the same people who think that Bow Wow is "gangsta". All you have here are a bunch of 15-year-olds playing internet thugs while living in the suburbs.
  14. I guess Lil' Woof Woof was too young to remember Six Degrees Of Separation. Maybe he was playing in the playpen when Enemy Of The State came out. Or he was possibly in the bathroom with his pants around his ankles looking at a Playboy when Ali came. He must not have known that Will has been nominated for 3 Golden Globe Awards and an Academy Award. What a clown. As I said in an earlier post, how can you take him seriously when he looks like the love child of Rick James:
  15. This is truly the mark of a wack rapper. Instead of just focusing on his lyrical skills, he figures he'll try to create beef with someone. But instead of going after a Common or Jay-Z, Bow Wow decides he'll go at Will because he knows Will won't respond back. It's a punk move on Bow Wow's part. If he claims to be so "real", why don't he go after Nas? Maybe Cannibus? Because he knows that his career will be done. Believe me, Will won't stoop to this level of ignorance and respond but Bow Wow's gonna ripped to shreds real soon and neither T.I. or J.D. will be able to save him. The next words you'll hear from Bow Wow are: "Welcome to McDonald's. May I take your order?
  16. I am asking the JJFP fam for a humble request. I have been looking and searching for The Pharcyde's "Passin' Me By" track for the longest. I can't find it anywhere on ITunes or anywhere else. If anyone has this song, could you please upload it. I have been going crazy trying to find this song!!!!
  17. I'm All That Summertime Who Stole The DJ? Trapped On The Dance Floor... severly underrated posse collaboration A Dog Is A Dog ...and my personal favorite: You Saw My Blinker, B&^*#!
  18. I don't think you're going to see Will and 50 on a track anytime soon. You also have to realize that the article took bits of what Will said to fit what they were trying to say. I would like to hear or read Will's full comments backstage before I make any judgements. I don't think Will should remain silent. He should keep doing songs like L&F and Mr. Nice Guy. I think Will's thinking is on the same level as Jeff's. Are we to criticize Jeff for doing a song with Eminem then later dissing "gangsta" rap in various articles? No. The problem that Will has with rap is not necessarily what 50 does but the fact that there is no variety and diversity in rap. Rap is basically all negative and 50 does negative music. He is a part of the problem but he is not the problem. The real problem lies with the industry heads that only put shine on G-Unit, 50 and others and totally ignoring other styles of rap. Back in the day, there were cats who did "gangsta" or negative rap. Too Short was one of the dirtiest rappers on earth. 2 Live Crew were nasty with their lyrics. NWA and Ice-T did gangsta stuff. The difference was that alongside those rappers, you also got to hear JJFP, LL, Moe Dee, PE, Kid-N-Play, Heavy D., Biz Markie and others. The playing field was level. It's not like that now. I wouldn't have a problem with cats like 50, G-Unit, Mike Jones and others if I got to see cats like Talib Kweli, Mos Def, FP, Little Brother, Common and others get just as much shine. They don't and I blame the industry as well as people. People also share the blame because they like crap like G-Unit. For rap to change for the better, people are going to have to change and say no more to this lack of originality and diversity in rap. The industry is doing what it does best - maximize their bottom line. If people demanded a change, then a change will come.
  19. I heard the speech that he gave and it was pretty good. He seemed to be truly excited to win this award. I think this award may be his sweetest considering all that went on with Lost & Found and its lack of promotion by Interscope. It's also great that he beat 2 Bits and Rob Thomas for the award. And yes, Bow Wow looked like what he is: A CLOWN!
  20. Phanatik - Shot Clock(Brand New Day) The Ambassador - Song For You FP - Lost & Found FP - Tell Me Why Common - Chi City
  21. Well with me being born in 1975 I remember a lot of that stuff. My favorite cartoon in the 80's were The Transformers, Voltron and The Thundercats. I remember when Beat Street first came out(I believe it was 1984 cuz my mom took me to the movies to see it). I remember cats getting a large piece of a cardboard box to breakdance. You were'nt cool if you weren't rocking either the Adidas or Puma jumpsuit with the Adidas shoes with no laces. You had no idea who Aerosmith was until they did Walk This Way with Run DMC. I remember when MTV first started and all they did was play videos. Ahh, Yo! MTV Raps was my favorite. You were a child of the 80's if you stayed up on Friday night to watch Friday Night Videos(that is, if you lived in the U.S.). You remembered where you were when you first saw Michael Jackson's Thriller video. You were a child of the 80's if you had a dollar that thought you were rich. I could go on... but I'm beginning to show my age.
