PETE ROCK + C.L. SMOOTH - It's A Love Thing Pete Rock + CL for 2004...that's what i'm talking about. SKILLZ PEOPLE!!
-
Don't get me wrong, i'll still listen 2 the album in a record store cuz i try 2 be open 2 everything....but after what u said about the DVD, he sounds like every other ignorant loser with a record deal. When i like an artist, only some of it is becuz of their talent. The person they are, where the come from, and what they say is the main reason. I like JJ+FP cuz i like where they come from, what they say in their music. It may not be what some people want, but they remind me of myself and say things that i can relate 2. Some fool worshiping jewlery, toting guns, selling drugs, and sexin' every slutty female they meet ain't nothing 2 brag about. First i'll say they are living lies, and if they aren't, they aren't living right. THeir music is poison 2 the young, impressionable minds that hear their rubbish. Why am i gonna support a loser like this?!?!

I Thought It Was Supposed To Be 2050
JumpinJack AJ replied to JamesUK's topic in Caught in the Middle
bigted, yet another post i agree with u on. Back in the day, the industry wasn't the same. Singles were put out all the time, shows were done differently, radio waz the main source of what waz good. These days it's very closed 2 who can get success in Hip-Hop/Rap. It's who u know and has nothing 2 do with talent. Public Enemy and other acts like that are legendary. U won't find their recent albums at the top of the charts, but u will find them in stores, 100s of fans at their concerts, and u'll read props 2 them in Hip-Hop magazines. Has anyone ever read or heard anyone give G-Unit or Chingy props for their lyrical ability or amazing production. No way...cuz they don't have anything good 2 offer. Only their mislead fans have good things 2 say about them. Anyone who says 50 Cent, Ja-Rule, Nelly, or any of those other fools are some of the best artists in Rap history have seriously malnurished ears. They get fed crap, but it's nothing good 4 the soul. -
All About The Funk*not album title*
JumpinJack AJ replied to DefCEM's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
All About The Funk is a wack title...no matter how u look like it. JJ+FP waz never about "the funk." There's no old skool ties 2 the title, just a lack of creativity. Thank goodness it looks like this waz a horrible typo. I didn't really believe it, but it's still a sigh of relief. -
Yeah, all of Dr. Dre's recent production is really boring. It's not bad, it's just nothing new. It isn't as heavy and thick like it used 2 be. I give him props where props are due...but his style, lyrics, and light-weight production has his old skool fans wanting alot more than what he's giving. Eminem and 50 Cent definitly aren't the right way 2 go either.

Hitch Soundtrack Tracklisting
JumpinJack AJ replied to cataboy3's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I like the soundtrack. Unless the soundtrack waz gonna be strictly new songs, i didn't really want FP on it anyway. I can't wait 2 hear the new songs/remixes by Amerie, John Legend, Omarion, Kevin Lyttle, Earth, Wind, + Fire w/ Kelly Rowland + Sleepy Brown. I also, that Heavy D + The Boyz song is one of my fav songs of all time. And when it comes 2 the oldies, i LOVE the Temptations and Martha Reeves + The Vandellas. I didn't check that link yet (i am after i make this post). I hope it drops soon!! -
Jazzy Jeff on VH1's I Love The '90s Part Deux
JumpinJack AJ replied to TopDawg14's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Ahhhh!!!! I 4got it started airing last nite. They will definitly re-run it alot in the next few weeks. I can't wait 2 see it. Since he waz in the 1st episode of the 2nd installment, there's a good chance he'll pop in here and there for the rest of this set. Hopefully this'll attract some fans back 2 this site and he's own. -
All About The Funk*not album title*
JumpinJack AJ replied to DefCEM's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
That may be the stupidest album title i've heard in awhile. To have a title like that, the album has 2 be layered with funk. It dosen't sound like "Switch" would be supporting that. I seriously hope this source is full of crap. A February release as another stupid idea...unless they start promoting NOW. -
Yeah, the lack of effort in their careers is amazing. Have u seen the live shows rappers up on?!?! Look at any Ja-Rule, 50 Cent live set. There's nothing 2 it. I've seen Ludacris live and it nearly put me 2 sleep. But i've also seen JJ+FP, Black Eyed Peas, TLC, Wyclef and others live as well. They really put a show on. Effort equals quality.
-
Yeah, he told Martin 2 control his behavior on the set of movies cuz he could ruin his career if he didn't control his temper. I think since FP is so down 2 earth, it's much easier 2 listen 2 him. He cares about his friends and since he is talented and successful and still the same person he waz when he started all this, it's much easier 2 respect him.

...or Dr. Evil.

At $6.99, this is a steal!! This is one of the best groups Hip-Hop ever had...if not THE best. For those of u interested, this is the chance 2 take up on getting a good taste of them at a really good price (and totally remastered). When u listen 2 an Eric B. + Rakim album, it has u saying stuff like "oh, that's where that rapper stole that line from" or "hey, this artists jacked this beat 4 themselves." For the serious Hip-Hop heads only.
-
It's not workin' 4 me...what is/waz there? :dunno:
-
Exactly...that's one of the best R-N-B songs of the 90's. They skipped over really big songs like Carl Thomas' "I Wish." Look at the tracklisting, it's pretty pathetic compared 2 what they had 2 work with. The real gem on it is Jodeci's "Come And Talk To Me" remix which is so hard 2 find...and very expensive when u do find it. Still a good album if u like that stuff. The DVD dosen't have anything that wazn't on TV a few years ago, but still a nice touch. U think they could have put the music video 4 each song on the album on it tho.' Anways, back on topic. BOYZ II MEN - Can't Let Her Go (Cutee B Remix) This is really smooth remix off the 1998 minor hit they had off some import single.

I've known Jamie Foxx had skillz 4 over 10 years. Back in 2004 he released his 1st solo album called Peep This. I never got it but really wanted 2. It's very rare these days. He brought this very smooth R-N-B sound. The title track waz amazing. He performed a few times on The Arsenio Hall Show (i have this on tape somewhere). He actually got a lil' bit of radio play but alot of people found it hard 2 accept cuz at that point, they only knew him from In Living Color. I also would like 2 hear a song with the 2 of them on it. Jamie Foxx sang on MC Lyte's song from 2003 "Where Home Is" which is a real nice love song. Maybe the best song on the whole album.
-
We have 2 remember that in the world of commercial rap, there are 2 kinds of props. Shout outs and positive words (which are rare these days). And hating...which is clearly an immature act of showing love simply cuz they admire the skillz or material possesions of others. So instead of saying something nice, they insult them...but it's easy 2 read in2.

Eric B. + Rakim are personification of real Hip-Hop. Their sound wazn't commercial yet wazn't underground. Heavy in DJ's skills and heavy in quality production. Not 2 mention Rakim being the best emcee of all time. FP himself said in an interview that Rakim is the only cat he'd never try 2 battle. Anyways, most Hip-Hop heads know of what they are 2 Hip-Hop, but 4 those of u who don't and love old skool, check out their "Best of..." collection put 2gether thru' 20th Century Masters. The sound is crystal clear and mastered for the 2000's. While it's only 11 trax deep (and missing one of my personal favs, "Me Melody"), it'll give u a taste of their work 2gether from the mid-80's thru' the early 90's. I only bring this up cuz, 4 those of u in the US, and want this album or would be interested in it, it's on sale at CIRCUIT CITY for only $6.99 this week.

E! had a special on Jamie Foxx's career and as they approached 'Ray,' they said FP waz a big inspiration 4 how seriously Jamie took the roll. FP took Jamie aside and said he needed 2 quit hanging out late and partying so much and start concentrating hard on the roll, which lead 2 him studying every possible thing he could, just like FP did for ALI. FP told him not 2 blow this chance of a lifetime. While they spent 15 seconds (give or take) about FP, they showed some recent clips of him performing LIVE. I'm sure they were from some of those recent JJ+FP shows. I'm sure E! will re-run it sometime soon...so check 4 it.

I have yet 2 catch it. Most of the trax on there sound good tho.' I waz just listening 2 "What They Do" yesterday. It's my favorite song by The Roots. Speech is another one of my favorite artists.

FAITH + PUFFY - All Night Long THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G + R. KELLY - Loving You Tonight I'm got Bad Boy's R&B Hits CD/DVD 2day. I've never been a big fan of Bad Boy stuff but they do have a bulk of stuff i really like so i had 2 pick this up. It's amazing how they put 2gether and R&B Hits disc and none of the trax on it really belong on it. What about all the trax by Carl Thomas, Faith, 112, Mario Winans, and Total?!?! They skipped over all that stuff 2 fill it with trax featuring Mase, Biggie, Puffy that featured R-N-B artists on them. They didn't even put the best songs, they put on the minor hits. The only track that truly fit waz Faith + Carl Thomas' "Can't Believe" but they put on a version featuring a rap by Shyne who i think think has zero talent. I'm amazed just how igornant the people at Bad Boy are.

Yeah, Da 'Prince and Jamie Foxx have been good friends since b4 the Big Willie Style era.
-
:dunno: I don't think this is anything new. I totally agree with what Freddie Foxx said tho.' U have millions of starving actors with skillz just trying 2 get that big break. But people casting these movie will cast some trendy rapper in the spot who has very few, if any skillz in acting (much less music!). FP, LL, Latifah, 2Pac, Ice Cube, and so on actually work on their craft and take acting seriously. They deserve the success they get...but when u see Ludacris in a movie...is he really doing it 4 the art or is he doing it 4 the money and Hollywood fame. If u are doing something strictly 4 the money, it shows cuz your art will suck. FP dosen't do it 4 the money and he always puts out good stuff. Most of the rappers in the top 10 do it just 4 the money, which shows cuz their music isn't any good.
-
Is FP going bald?!?! Dose G-Unit make good music?!? I, myself think FP is going 2 grow a Mullet.
-
...featuring Marilyn Manson :kekeke:

And i'll add that "Buggin'" is ill. I didn't notice that Jay-Z wrote it, but that waz b4 i thought he waz wack. Everybody should give that Bug Bunny + Looney Tunes "Buggin'" track a listen. It's dope and really silly.
