Over the past few years, i've kept up with this young woman's story. I get at least one e-mail forward about her every year and it brings me to tears every single time. I'm sure many of you have come across this as well. However, i wanted 2 bring this person's story 2 those of u who have never seen it. Back in 1999, this girl waz in a car that was hit by a drunk driver and pinned her in the car which was on fire. 60% of her body waz burned and to this day, she has no hands and barely has a face. The pictures are not for those of you who can't handle graphic images, but it's the strongest reminder that drinking and driving is simply not acceptable...EVER. When i read about this young woman, her struggle, and her words, i am truely inspired. I realize just how blessed i really am. I just wanted to share this with all of you. AGAIN, THE PICTURES ON THESE WEBSITES ARE NOT FOR THE LIGHT AT HEART. http://members.aol.com/runnen4jesus/Page20.html (this website is set up much like the e-mail forwards that have been in circulation) http://www.npr.org/programs/atc/features/2002/oct/texas_dwi/ http://www.helpjacqui.com/ (you can send a donation on this site to help cover her never-ending medical bills...i've sent a donation and hope to send more in the future)

HEATHER HEADLEY - In My Mind (2006) This album is a beautiful example of how R-N-B/Soul music is still alive and well.

Mary J open up your schedule for Will

It's rediculous that FP is just letting things go the way they are. Maybe if he's really stand up and fight 4 what he wants...he'd get his way. He's never really fought his record lables...which is why "Men In Black" and "Wild Wild West" were on his solo albums. Born To Reign and Lost + Found both faded in oblivion months after their release. He has the passion 4 it...and he is easily putting out better music that nearly everyone else in Hip-Hop and Rap...so why does he always just sit back and let things happen this way. "Tell Me Why" isn't about fame or record sales...it's about what the world needs 2 hear. But instead we are hearing crap like "Laffy Taffy" and "Grillz." I understand how the music business is shady...but come on. -
Spike Lee Disses Snoop and Pimp Culture

Nas dose make some good music, but he dose some really stupid things. This album title is the perfect example. I think it's time this word be put 2 rest. How many times do u need 2 say a word til it doesn't mean anything anymore. With this word, i'd say about 10 years ago. -
NICK LACHEY - What's Left of Me Wow! This song is powerful. It's one of those huge Pop/R-N-B/Soul ballads. It'll be on his album dropping at the end of spring. I thought i waz over my ex until hearing this...ha ha.

That's my boy. His new single is bananas...i love it. I can't wait 2 see how things are gonna pan out. Hate him or love him, he's doing big things, and unlike the negative, untalented, money-hungry, cuss-word-infested-rhyming, blinged-out, weed smoking, grill-wearing, "sex me" commercial rappers, at least this cat breaks the mold and brings something positive 2 the table.

Chappelle Says Stress Caused Him To Leave
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I just read an article on AOL about this. He said that if the money the show waz making waz going 2 the right people and towards people who needed it, like Katrina victims, he'd be glad 2 do it again. He also complained that the Comedy Central network people started pushing him 2 do skits about things he wazn't confortable with. I'd love 2 see him take total control of the show and come back. We'll see. He's so hot that he can pretty much do whatever he wants. I'm sure he'll be on top again one way or another. -

Ha ha...nothing is more gangsta than a Joker shirt and throwing up a "westside" with your thumbs up 2...ha ha. Holding up money isn't gangsta...it's old school. But i'll see if i can't take some OG pictures sometime this week. How can i make up a bag of fake weed? ha ha

U ever been in an uncofortable situation like...
JumpinJack AJ replied to Wild Child's topic in Caught in the Middle
Man, that made me uncomfortable just reading it...and i'm white. I think i would have flipped it, stood up, and gave a real lesson on the topic. Maybe u should brush up on the history and do a lesson all by yourself. I think that would help the teacher know how 2 approach the subject matter better next time around. Probably wouldn't hurt your grade either. -
2 correct Pete Rock's statement tho'....CL has done a few things on his own. When he did that Mary J. Blige "Reminisce" remix...it waz HUGE. I also have a Hip-Hop/Rap compilation mixtape from about 1999 where he did a song with a few other emcees. Unfortunatly the song isn't that good. I hope CL Smooth still has a passion 4 Hip-Hop cuz he is one of the best emcees of all time. And i support whatever Pete Rock dose, but none of his stuff outside of Pete Rock + CL Smooth has been dope as the good old days.

Spike Lee Disses Snoop and Pimp Culture
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Actually, i would credit Too Short and Ice-T for the origial "pimp lifestyle" in Hip-Hop. Ice-T dosen't get nearly enough respect 4 what he's done. Sure, the OG style and pimp style blew up in the 2 the trash we ONLY hear about on the radio 2day...but he's definitly a pioneer in Hip-Hop. Bottom line, there shouldn't be any girls acting the way they do in Nelly and 50 Cent videos. It's not only disrespectful, it's actually really gross. When u see LL Cool J's music videos, the girls are actually gorgous and 95% of the time, it's tastefull. But most of these new rappers got girls doing stuff that probably has their parents holding a gun 2 their own head when they see the video. On top of that, the girls aren't even cute. And the whole gangsta rap thing has been played out for over 10 years and phoney pimp lifestyle has been dead for at least 8 years. It's time that the people who listen 2 the radio and buy these albums commercially realize they are buying poison and dumbing themselves down. -
CALVIN RICHARDSON - Nightmare (Her Love) Country Boy (1998) This album came out in 1998...i didn't even hear about this guy until his 2nd album came around. I just picked this up last week and it's amazing. I'm really missing 90's R-N-B at the moment.

Since Sonic put up the pic of him holding money...i gotta put up this picture of me and my boy Russ holding up money....old school style. We did a rock and roll review. During the intro medley, me and him bum rushed the stage during Run-DMC's "It's Tricky" and did some rough break dancing, old school dancing, and dumb dancing. This pic is of us back stage...and yes, i waz making a silly face on purpose.

This sounds interesting. I can't wait 2 see this. And it's about time this album came out. It took nearly as long as Crown Royal did 2 come out. Years ago, he said it would be a mix of Hip-Hop, Rock, and acoustic folk music. Since his voice has lost nearly all of it's power, i have no idea what it's gonna sound like. I'm definitly getting it tho.' I sure i'll like it just as much as Run's album. I'm not always in the mood 4 it...but when i am, it's just what i need.
-
Thanx for that. It pains me 2 know that there is no more Pete Rock + CL Smooth. I waz just listening 2 the trax they did on Soul Survior II just last week. And a few weeks ago, i got their 2003 Greatest Hits album.

Spike Lee Disses Snoop and Pimp Culture
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I love Snoop, but Spike Lee has some good points. Occasionally Spike Lee says something that gets on my nerves...but 4 the most part he's on point. Snoop dose have other sides 2 him, but the whole gangsta thing is what most know him 4. -
They are both hilarious. If we are talking about the show, then i gotta go with Jazz. Think about it, nearly even single line he ever said on the show waz funny.

Will to attend "Roots' Third Annual Jam Session"
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
It would be ill if they recorded this and released a box set of the event. -
I had 2 go with "Trapped On The Dance Floor." Jazzy kills it. However, in true Jazzy Jeff fasion, i think he's more at home on "This Boy Is Smooth." His funniest verse is definitly "Men of Your Dreams." I can't see why so many people went with "Don't Even Try It"...he barely even gets that verse started on time with the beat...ha ha.

There's a difference between something being "boring" and "trash." When i say that i'm not feeling something...that's just what i feel. But i'll admit 2 calling some music trash, which i don't take back. But there's many times when i say i don't feel something...but i really do think it's trash. I just try 2 control myself more these days.
