  1. BEYONCE - Listen (DJ Escape Remix) Shining Stars: Exclusive Music Sampler (2007) Next up... KELLY ROWLAND + EVE - Like This
  2. Washington DC has 2 BIG Hip-Hop/R-N-B stations that stretch an extra state or 2 North and South. In many ways, they are like the common Hip-Hop/R-N-B stations that support alot of the garbage u can hear all over the radio, with moments of supporting good lesser-known artists and good radio shows. Anyways, i waz driving 2day listening to 93.9 WKYS and one of the radio personalities waz talking about new music coming out 2day (Ne-Yo, etc) and DJ Jazzy Jeff's new album on iTunes. It rolled in2 a voice bit of Jeff himself saying something along the lines of "Hey, this is DJ Jazzy Jeff letting u know my new album The Return of The Magnificent is available on iTunes before you can pick it up in stores." They played one of the trax off the album under it but i not sure which one i waz. I think it waz the joint with Jean Grea. So there u have it, the album is getting some decent promotion for it being a non-commerical release. Tons of people who actually listen 2 the radio know it's coming. Let's see what happens. It waz incredibly cool hearing Jazzy's voice on the radio. It felt like there is hope 4 the radio.
  3. Definitely one of the best ever. I haven't listened 2 this in awhile. Man, i miss the '90's. Remixes were so common...and usually good and pointful (unlike most of the few remixes done these days).
  4. I give him props for that. Reguardless of the outcome, seeing someone making the effort gets my respect. I'm still wondering about that LL album. No news about has come out about it in months. Seems like a forced or careless move on his part...directly releated 2 Jay-Z's ridiculous business-mind.
  5. Hmmm...maybe i have tyme 2 go over then and tell them all they are idiots.
  6. Well, i don't use iTunes, so i'm not sure what's up there. But the EP waz released awhile ago. U sure u didn't get the trax off the EP (some of them also appearing on TROTM LP). At least 3 of us on the board already have the album.
  7. MARQUES HOUSTON - Circle Verteran (2007) Man, i just get over how good this song.
  8. This is actually pretty embarassing. Why i'm left ?uestioning the level of respect i had for Eve, the list at the end of this posts is actually pretty ridiculous. Most of these people are idiots. Mos Def's case is just stupid...and a few of them are debatable how true they are. But ones like Tony Yayo's are just stupid. Even people who actually think his music is good can't respect that. Rapper Eve Arrested for Drunk Driving AP LOS ANGELES (April 26) -- Rapper-actress Eve was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence after she crashed a Maserati in Hollywood early Thursday. The crash occurred about 2:45 a.m. on Hollywood Boulevard, said police Officer Martha Garcia. Eve, whose full name is Eve Jeffers, submitted to testing to determine her blood alcohol level, but the results weren't immediately available, Garcia said. Eve was booked on misdemeanor drunken driving and posted $30,000 bail. She is scheduled to return to court May 17. A phone message left for her attorney, Matthew Johnson, wasn't immediately returned. Publicist Amanda Silverman said she had no immediate comment. Eve broke into hip-hop as a protege of gangsta rap pioneer Dr. Dre. She won a Grammy Award for the single "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" with Gwen Stefani . Her screen credits include "XXX," "Barbershop" and its sequel. She also had her own self-titled sitcom on UPN. ----------------- Rapper-actress Eve was arrested for misdemeanor drunk driving after crashing her Maserati at 2:45 a.m. on Hollywood Boulevard. Snoop's brushes with the law continue, as he's finally charged for being in possession of a gun and drugs back in October. A Manhattan Criminal Court judge determined Busta Rhymes will stand trial on two assault charges. Tony Yayo (right), a member of 50 Cent's G-Unit rap crew, was arrested on suspicion of slapping and hitting a 14-year-old boy. An arrest warrant was issued for rapper Foxy Brown after she failed to appear in court on charges stemming from her alleged attack of a beauty store employee. Prosecutors dropped charges against Kid Rock that he shoved a woman face-first into a snowbank after a night of drinking, citing "differing eyewitness accounts." Busta Rhymes refused to aid an NYPD investigation into a 2006 shooting. Now he's barred from the set of his newest film, scenes of which are being shot in New York. A police document shows that bad boy Sean 'Diddy' Combs is accused of being involved in an incident where a man was punched in the face. Jason "Jadakiss" Phillips pleaded not guilty following an indictment on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana. David Darnell Brown, aka Young Buck, was arrested on an outstanding warrant after an officer said he observed Brown weaving in his black Cadillac Escalade. Rapper 50 Cent was busted Sept. 8, 2006 for an unsafe lane change, driving with an expired permit, driving without insurance and vehicle registration. Noreaga, now known as N.O.R.E., testified on behalf of Darryl Henderson, who is on trial for a triple murder near Yankee Stadium. Two months following his arrest for drug possession, Lil' Wayne may face charges for throwing money into the crowd at a concert, thereby causing a melee. Fabolous was accused of possessing two loaded guns after being shot in the thigh Tue., Oct. 17. Mos Def's impromptu concert on a flatbed truck outside the MTV Awards was shut down by cops who said he was "playing without a permit." Lil' Kim was released from prison in July 2006 after serving time for conspiracy and perjury. While in jail she kept busy by writing over 200 songs. Eminem was picked up twice in 2002 on weapons charges, once for waving a gun at fellow Detroit natives Insane Clown Posse.
  9. I can't agree with that. When PE blew up, countless political artists and groups came out. Some of them may have bitten PE's style...and some of them may have been struggling artists who got a break when record labels realized that political Hip-Hop would get commerical support. And when The Chonic came out, countless wannabe gangstas came out and the commercial game has been going downhill ever since. Then, and i don't even know how this mess up happened, people actually thought those dirty south losers actually made good "music." Why no single artist or group from the 90's to now totally pioners anything in Hip-Hop single handedly, when it comes 2 commerical success, often times, reguardless if it's a good or a bad thing, 1 artist or album DOES plant the seed that grows. JJ+FP has what it takes 2 get the success...reguarless of the industry. And if things fall in2 place, we could see positive Hip-Hop come back 2 the charts. We could see albums that dont' have an explict lyrics stickers on the charts again. We could actually see real music on the charts again. Other "old school" artists and groups could get better chance of getting back out there. Who knows? Other than all of us wanting a new JJ+FP album, there's nothing but good things that could come from it.
  10. Yeah, but guns are the most cowardly. Think about it. Anyone who doesn't have one or doesn't know a killer has one is automatically at a disadvantage. With a gun u can be hidden or at a distance and do what u are trying 2 do. U don't have 2 be smart, rich, or talented 2 get a gun. Guns truely only serve a purpose to about 10% or less of the people that actually have them. If that idiot was going at people with knives and stuff like that, he would have been stopped after the 1st attempted murder or injury. To plant a bomb he's have to be more than averagely educated and intellegent.
  11. Interesting...but not surprising. Jive used 2 be one of the premiere Hip-Hop/R-N-B labels. JJ+FP, A Tribe Called Quest, Souls of Mischief, Smooth, Too Short, R. Kelly, Nuttin' Nyce, Aaliyah, etc. Now look at them.
  12. I wazn't able 2 check the link. But yeah, Tatyana waz on MJJ. I don't think the imprint exists anymore tho.'
  13. SHAI - Baby I'm Yours (Smoove Mix) Baby I'm Yours CD Single (1993)
  14. SALT-N-PEPA - Getty Up (The Brick Track Versus Gitty Up - Rickedy Raw Hide Radio Mix) Import CD Single (1999)
  15. As long as none of them have died in a car accident while going 2 see MIIB...only 2 make a post after dying. The old heads will laugh at this.
  16. BOYZ II MEN - Gonna Have The Remedy (2006) All u hardcore BIIM fans need 2 track down this import. It's worth the high price. This is probably in their top 5 when it comes 2 albums.
  17. I totally agree, Lerky. :smartass: For the most part, guns only exist for negative reasons. I've never really supported hunting and stuff like that. I can't imagin why it's so easy 2 get one here in the US. Since so many people have guns, i kinda support the right 2 bare arms, cuz everyone has the right 2 defend their own family, but another gun out on the street is another oppertunity for death. Imagin if one of the teachers at VT had a gun locked away in their desk. Maybe this nightmare could have been prevented shortly after the gunshots started ringing out. It's one of those things that is so out of hand, that it's hard 2 imagin how 2 turn it around.
  18. DJ JAZZY JEFF, BLACK ICE, + ESHON BURGUNDY - Run That Back The Return of The Magnificent (2007) Personification of dopeness.
  19. I got the album...it's good. I think i posted a review in that album review post. I definitely think it's worth a listen.
  20. Testimony: Lumidee Young Dance Star Recounts Her Fight with Rheumatoid Arthritis As told to Angela Bronner, AOL Black Voices Testimony: Lumidee TVT Records Lumidee's new album drops April 17th. Many know Lumidee (nee Lumidee Cedeno) from her 2003 mega hit, 'Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh),' the infectious anthem she dropped at the tender age of 19. What many didn't know was that Lumidee had just had two hip replacements because of Rheumatoid Arthritis, which was diagnosed when she was 14. RA, an autoimmune disorder, is the leading cause of disability in the country. The Spanish Harlem native, whose latest album, 'Unexpected' debuts April 17, is Youth Ambassador of the 2007 Arthritis Walk. She shares her Testimony with Black Voices. It was definitely tough for me. I was starting high school. I did like the first three months of high school but I couldn't take it because it started taking a toll on me really quick. I had gotten a rash on my legs. It was like little patches; almost like an irritation from a detergent. Then my wrist was a little bit cramped up and my ankles. But I didn't really think much of it. I went to the doctor to find out about the rash and didn't mention I was cramped up. So they said, maybe this is just an allergic reaction. But my bones started hurting me and I started to get cramped up, so I went back and told them about it. They thought it was lupus because the rash and the symptoms were like Lupus. I did the test and it came back negative. As more time passed they realized it was Rheumatoid Arthritis. Being that I was so young, I really didn't know much about it and my family didn't believe me, so they thought I was trying to get out of school. My grandmother -- she's old school -- she thought I was lying because it was something they couldn't physically see. [They began to believe me when] they started seeing my body getting swelled up and the joints changing. And they had to believe it. I went through that with my family, so it was pretty tough. When I was younger, I was pretty naïve. I didn't have money, my family didn't have money and my medication was like $400 a month and even more. Basically I was living off of social security benefits from my deceased father, and I would just blow it on clothes and sneakers. I was young, and I wasn't worried about medication. And that's what made it worse for me. It was because of that, I had to get the hip replacements early -- four and half years after I was diagnosed, so I was turning 19. Basically, I'm telling my story now because I think it's important; because it had a lot to do with my career. Because when I was diagnosed with it, I was so depressed. I was home for like a year straight. I didn't really go outside. It was physically hard for me to move around. And being so young, and being so used to hanging out, I felt embarrassed. The way I was walking and I couldn't even open my hands. They were cramped up almost like a claw. I walked really badly. I was basically homebound for a while. Having the home instruction for three years and not being able to hang out and be active, I started writing poetry. And from my writing poetry, and writing my feelings down, I started writing songs. And I had nothing else to do but dream. I had this goal. I'm writing my songs. I always wanted to do music, but once I realized I had the writing talent, I knew I could go all the way with this. So that's basically what got me through it, having that goal. I think it's an inspirational story for people because sometimes it makes you want to give up. Having Rheumatoid Arthritis or having any sickness or disease that you have no control over, [you can't] let it put a stop to what you're doing. Don't be a prisoner to it. You can still have goals and reach them. It doesn't matter how big your goals are. A lot of people don't realize that young people have this. People are actually being born with this. It's something that people should know about and the awareness should be set because I had to struggle with my family believing me. I had to hide it my first time around and I don't want to hide nothing now. When I first came out, they thought it would scare off the labels or I'd be sick or that I wouldn't be able to make it to shows. So in the beginning, they just gave me a little story: 'If they ask you why you walk like that, it's because you fell off a motorcycle. You had an accident.' I really wasn't comfortable with it, but I really didn't know what was expected of me and if this is what it takes me to do my music, then fine. But I wound up telling them in the end, that I'm not perfect and you don't have to be perfect.
  21. JENNIFER LOPEZ + FAT JOE - Hold You Down (Cory Rooney Spring Mix) Hold You Down CD Single (2005)
  22. We all know how good a new JJ+FP album would be. Pretty much everyone on this board wants a new JJ+FP album.
  23. LOOSE CANNONS - High Life Life Goes On (2006)
  24. This is pretty disturbing...but it only makes sense the way the human race seems 2 work. Scientists Offer Frightening Forecast By Ker Than and Andrea Thompson (April 22) -- Our planet's prospects for environmental stability are bleaker than ever as the world celebrates Earth Day on Sunday. Global warming is widely accepted as a reality by scientists and even by previously doubtful government and industrial leaders. And according to a recent report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), there is a 90 percent likelihood that humans are contributing to the change. Dire Predictions for Earth The international panel of scientists predicts the global average temperature could increase by 2 to 11 degrees Fahrenheit by 2100 and that sea levels could rise by up to 2 feet. Scientists have even speculated that a slight increase in Earth's rotation rate could result, along with other changes. Glaciers, already receding, will disappear. Epic floods will hit some areas while intense drought will strike others. Humans will face widespread water shortages. Famine and disease will increase. Earth’s landscape will transform radically, with a quarter of plants and animals at risk of extinction. While putting specific dates on these traumatic potential events is challenging, this timeline paints the big picture and details Earth's future based on several recent studies and the longer scientific version of the IPCC report, which was made available to LiveScience. 2007 More of the world's population now lives in cities than in rural areas, changing patterns of land use. The world population surpasses 6.6 billion. (Peter Crane, Royal Botanic Gardens, UK, Science; UN World Urbanization Prospectus: The 2003 Revision; U.S. Census Bureau) 2008 Global oil production peaks sometime between 2008 and 2018, according to a model by one Swedish physicist. Others say this turning point, known as “Hubbert’s Peak,” won’t occur until after 2020. Once Hubbert’s Peak is reached, global oil production will begin an irreversible decline, possibly triggering a global recession, food shortages and conflict between nations over dwindling oil supplies. (doctoral dissertation of Frederik Robelius, University of Uppsala, Sweden; report by Robert Hirsch of the Science Applications International Corporation) 2020 Flash floods will very likely increase across all parts of Europe. (IPCC) Less rainfall could reduce agriculture yields by up to 50 percent in some parts of the world. (IPCC) World population will reach 7.6 billion people. (U.S. Census Bureau) The Global Warming Threat 2030 Diarrhea-related diseases will likely increase by up to 5 percent in low-income parts of the world. (IPCC) Up to 18 percent of the world’s coral reefs will likely be lost as a result of climate change and other environmental stresses. In Asian coastal waters, the coral loss could reach 30 percent. (IPCC) World population will reach 8.3 billion people. (U.S. Census Bureau) Warming temperatures will cause temperate glaciers on equatorial mountains in Africa to disappear. (Richard Taylor, University College London, Geophysical Research Letters:) In developing countries, the urban population will more than double to about 4 billion people, packing more people onto a given city's land area. The urban populations of developed countries may also increase by as much as 20 percent. (World Bank: The Dynamics of Global Urban Expansion) 2040 The Arctic Sea could be ice-free in the summer, and winter ice depth may shrink drastically. Other scientists say the region will still have summer ice up to 2060 and 2105. (Marika Holland, NCAR, Geophysical Research Letters) 2050 Small alpine glaciers will very likely disappear completely, and large glaciers will shrink by 30 to 70 percent. Austrian scientist Roland Psenner of the University of Innsbruck says this is a conservative estimate, and the small alpine glaciers could be gone as soon as 2037. (IPCC) In Australia, there will likely be an additional 3,200 to 5,200 heat-related deaths per year. The hardest hit will be people over the age of 65. An extra 500 to 1,000 people will die of heat-related deaths in New York City per year. In the United Kingdom, the opposite will occur, and cold-related deaths will outpace heat-related ones. (IPCC) World population reaches 9.4 billion people. (U.S. Census Bureau) Crop yields could increase by up to 20 percent in East and Southeast Asia, while decreasing by up to 30 percent in Central and South Asia. Similar shifts in crop yields could occur on other continents. (IPCC) As biodiversity hotspots are more threatened, a quarter of the world’s plant and vertebrate animal species could face extinction. (Jay Malcolm, University of Toronto, Conservation Biology) 2070 As glaciers disappear and areas affected by drought increase, electricity production for the world’s existing hydropower stations will decrease. Hardest hit will be Europe, where hydropower potential is expected to decline on average by 6 percent; around the Mediterranean, the decrease could be up to 50 percent. (IPCC) Warmer, drier conditions will lead to more frequent and longer droughts, as well as longer fire-seasons, increased fire risks, and more frequent heat waves, especially in Mediterranean regions. (IPCC) 2080 While some parts of the world dry out, others will be inundated. Scientists predict up to 20 percent of the world’s populations live in river basins likely to be affected by increased flood hazards. Up to 100 million people could experience coastal flooding each year. Most at risk are densely populated and low-lying areas that are less able to adapt to rising sea levels and areas which already face other challenges such as tropical storms. (IPCC) Coastal population could balloon to 5 billion people, up from 1.2 billion in 1990. (IPCC) Between 1.1 and 3.2 billion people will experience water shortages and up to 600 million will go hungry. (IPCC) Sea levels could rise around New York City by more than three feet, potentially flooding the Rockaways, Coney Island, much of southern Brooklyn and Queens, portions of Long Island City, Astoria, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens, lower Manhattan and eastern Staten Island from Great Kills Harbor north to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. (NASA GISS) 2085 The risk of dengue fever from climate change is estimated to increase to 3.5 billion people. (IPCC) 2100 A combination of global warming and other factors will push many ecosystems to the limit, forcing them to exceed their natural ability to adapt to climate change. (IPCC) Atmospheric carbon dioxide levels will be much higher than anytime during the past 650,000 years. (IPCC) Ocean pH levels will very likely decrease by as much as 0.5 pH units, the lowest it’s been in the last 20 million years. The ability of marine organisms such as corals, crabs and oysters to form shells or exoskeletons could be impaired. (IPCC) Thawing permafrost and other factors will make Earth’s land a net source of carbon emissions, meaning it will emit more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than it absorbs. (IPCC) Roughly 20 to 30 percent of species assessed as of 2007 could be extinct by 2100 if global mean temperatures exceed 2 to 3 degrees of pre-industrial levels. (IPCC) New climate zones appear on up to 39 percent of the world’s land surface, radically transforming the planet. (Jack Williams, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences) A quarter of all species of plants and land animals—more than a million total—could be driven to extinction. The IPCC reports warn that current “conservation practices are generally ill-prepared for climate change and effective adaptation responses are likely to be costly to implement.” (IPCC) Increased droughts could significantly reduce moisture levels in the American Southwest, northern Mexico and possibly parts of Europe, Africa and the Middle East, effectively recreating the “Dust Bowl” environments of the 1930s in the United States. (Richard Seager, Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Science) 2200 An Earth day will be 0.12 milliseconds shorter, as rising temperatures cause oceans to expand away from the equator and toward the poles, one model predicts. One reason water will be shifted toward the poles is most of the expansion will take place in the North Atlantic Ocean, near the North Pole. The poles are closer to the Earth’s axis of rotation, so having more mass there should speed up the planet’s rotation. (Felix Landerer, Max Planck Institute for Meteorology, Geophysical Research Letters)
  25. It's always been one of my favorites 2. I remember being 11 and this song just standing out 2 me. I identified with the song back then and i identify with it now. The Hip-Hop meets the clubs style beat is great 2. The remixes are great and the video is one of their best.
