  1. I don't see Hancock as an R rated movie. I also think it would be stupid 2 put stuff in the movie 2 make it rated R as it doesn't seem like it is or was intended 2 be. And making a movie rated R 2 get an Oscar is the stupidest thing i've ever heard. I just want an entertaining movie that i will wanna watch often even tho' i probably will only watch it ever few years. Nobody expected Bad Boys or Men In Black 2 win any Oscars but u can watch them again and again. Movies worth of Oscars are usually boring in my opinion...ha ha. I just want a good movie with a JJ+FP track on the soundtrack.
  2. And i'm gonna go over there and BUMP them all.
  3. ENVOGUE - Hold On (Marley Marl's Remix) Free Your Mind (CD Single) (1992)
  4. U wrote what i waz thinking. It's kinda funny since i'm just a person who's been a fan of Levert since the early 90's. It's not like i ever met the guys, but when i waz reading the article i waz thinkin' 2 myself "this who thing just doesn't seem right." U know how u follow an entertainer closely for awhile, u feel like u know them? I guess it's all just part of that. It was hard enough to imagin him being in jail...especially since they are positive, clean cut, spiritual family. But overlooking that, the way that was written and the behaviors that have been put in the articles just sound like the red flags were popping up left and right and they were just ignoring them. And this is the story of an entertainer. It makes u wonder about what goes on in prisons and how non-celebs are treated. Sure, they may have done something wrong, and maybe some of them have bad things coming at them, but nobody deserves 2 die...especially becuz some cocky cops just wanna power trip and treat other people like crap.
  5. Amazing accomplishment...i can't wait til she is number one. Mariah Carey gets dogged for the diva act that she puts on, but i love how humble and down 2 earth she is in this article. She's come a long way and she still got tons of music left in her. ---------------------------------------------------- Mariah Carey Surpasses Elvis in No. 1s By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY,AP Posted: 2008-04-02 16:17:49 LOS ANGELES (AP) - With her 18th chart-topper "Touch My Body," Mariah Carey has passed Elvis Presley for the most No. 1 singles on the Billboard singles chart, and is now second only to the Beatles. But while the diva was in full celebration mode after learning of her latest milestone, she was also quick to put her accomplishment in perspective. "I really can never put myself in the category of people who have not only revolutionized music but also changed the world," Carey told The Associated Press on Tuesday via phone from London. "That's a completely different era and time ... I'm just feeling really happy and grateful." Carey's single is the new No. 1 single on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart: The song also is No. 1 on the trade magazine's digital download chart thanks to a precedent-setting 286,000 downloads in its debut week. She had been tied with Presley with 17 No. 1 singles; the Beatles are the all-time leaders with 20. (Madonna also beat a Presley record this week, surpassing the King for the most top 10 hits with her 37th for her hit "4 Minutes.") Carey said being in such company was gratifying not only because of her personal success, but what it meant for women and minorities. "For me, in my mind the accomplishment is just that much sweeter," she said. "In terms of my ethnicity, always feeling like an outsider, always feeling different ... for me it's about saying, 'Thank you Lord, for giving me the faith to believe in myself when other people had written me off."' "Touch My Body" is the first single off of Carey's upcoming album "E=MC2," due out April 16. It is the follow-up to her Grammy-winning disc "The Emancipation of Mimi," released in 2005, that year's best-selling album with five million copies sold; it marked a huge comeback for the multiplatinum superstar after personal and professional setbacks. Like that album, Carey said "E=MC2" continues her sense of freedom and rebirth: "It's like emancipation of Mariah Carey to the second power and beyond." Carey, 38, said this is the most enjoyable point of her nearly two-decade old career, and that's her priority these days, not trying to set sales records or even making pop history. "I've gone through enough of my life worrying about that kind if thing," said Carey. "I want to encourage anyone else out there who feels like maybe they can't overcome an obstacle, I feel like I'm living proof ... never lose your faith," she added. "I'm seriously a grateful individual right now." http://www.mariahcarey.com http://www.billboard.com
  6. Here's an article i got from AOL. It annoys me that they said Gerald left Levert. They did 2 albums after Gerald started his solo career and there's even a Levert song on the last album he released while alive. Anyways... ------------------------------------------------------------- Levert's Family Asks FBI to Probe Death AP Posted: 2008-04-02 16:15:21 CLEVELAND (AP) - The family of R&B singer Sean Levert wants the FBI to look into his death after a jail medical emergency. His cousin, Michael Gibson, said Levert never had any outburst such as the type described by Kevin McDonough, warden at the Cuyahoga County jail. The 39-year-old Levert died Sunday night at a hospital after he was taken from the county jail where he was serving a one year and 10 months sentence for failure to pay $89,025 in child support. McDonough said Levert was pounding on his cell door so guards strapped him in a restraint chair; Levert's breathing became shallow and he was taken to Lutheran Hospital, where he died less than an hour later. An autopsy did not determine the cause of death. Toxicology tests are expected to take weeks. FBI spokesman Scott Wilson says agents would meet with Levert's family. Sean and his brother Gerald Levert, who died in 2006 at age 40 of an accidental mix of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, formed LeVert in the 1980s with childhood friend Marc Gordon. Their hits included "Baby I'm Ready," "(Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop) Goes My Mind" and "Casanova," which was nominated for a Grammy in 1988 for best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocal. It was also nominated for best R&B song. Gerald Levert left the group to start a solo career.
  7. SPICE GIRLS - Greatest Hits Megamix (CD Promo) (2007) Ha ha...spicing up my life...GIRL POWER!! Next up... JOI MARSHALL's "Testimony + Praise" 2007 album (she's the front woman from Jade for u early 90's R-N-B fans)
  8. It's clear which album did better. Has 50 Cent even released any other singles or videos. I don't listen 2 the radio much or watch TV, but i haven't heard anything since the time the album dropped. Kanye's steam has weakened but he's still promoting the album in the midst of everything he's going thru'. I'll still never throw Kanye West in the category of one fo the greatests...but it's clear that this is one of the cases where good music prevailed over the bad. p.s. Everytime i go 2 music store, they have TONS of Curtis albums. They just can't move the ones they got from it's debuting week...ha ha.
  9. Yeah, Tim is a jerk...let's abandon the board!! :protest: :3-laugh3:
  10. What up Kel, Good luck with the show. I just checked the video that u sent me from the last secret showcase and i must say that i never expected u 2 bring a show that hard. The DJ, the background vocalists, the live band...and u of course tearing the mic 2 shreads. I can't wait til i see that kinda set with my own eyes. Keep the good music and the positive messages coming. There are ears out here dying 4 what u are bringing. God Bless, AJ
  11. Lessons i learned 10 years ago. I could add 2 this list...i just might.
  12. BOBBY BROWN - Get Away (Shock G Club Mix) Get Away (CD Single) (1993)
  13. I heard the song and saw the video awhile ago. I really like the song. I like that isn't not a power ballad or a super uptempo track. Just a mid-tempo step back in2 the spot light. And she looks great in the video. Can't wait for the new album. And i'm not dissing Janet, but her she really needs 2 focus on her sound, her last 2 albums are just so average. Her production is just not there. She conforming for the success of Ciara and artists like that. Their styles are fine, but Janet has a vibe of her own and she needs 2 show it off. The more i listen 2 her album, the more i like it. I'm just wishing she was recording stuff like she was for the 90's...especially the janet. album.
  14. I'm used 2 people disappointing me on April Fools when i visit this board...ha ha. I knew this was fake before i even opened it. However, the Rick Roll song bing the link was mad hilarious. I love that song. I know everone back in the day was like "who's the big black guy who sings that song?" and then find otu some skinny, kinda-akward red-headed white kid was singing it. Good stuff. I'd be so mad if i fell for this. I had a really evil idea for an April Fools post last week but i forget what it waz. I'll probably remember in a few days and do it anyway. :hmm:
  15. Okay, so i never watched this video. It's Lil' Wayne...i knew it would suck. But i just watched video on TV. The beat on this song is better than any other beat i've heard him on...but that doesn't make it a good song. Even when his voice tweeked by a vocoder, it's not any better. He's just an idiot. I don't understand why u guys think it was better than Snoop's joint. I like Snoop's track...the production, the vibe, the "stepping outta the box" element. I don't see why these songs are being compared. They aren't similar at all. Snoop's song stands out...Lil' Wayne is just a common bottom feeder pulling from anyone else who's had success. :::Gonna go pop in Ego Trippin':::
  16. LEFT EYE - Spiritual Warfare (1989?) This unreleased chorus-only demo is kinda weird...but man, i miss her.
  17. Here's a lil' more info from AOL News. What a way 2 go in jail...and in that condition. Sounds like they should have been looking in2 his well being early on. It's ridiculous that he waz thinking about reviving Levert with another singer tho.' I'd love another Levert album, but without Gerald, that simply isn't possible. Without any of them for that matter. It's funny tho', cuz i waz thinking LSG could do another album with Sean in Gerald's place just last week. -------------------------------- R&B Singer Sean Levert Dies AP Posted: 2008-03-31 13:26:24 Filed Under: Star Obituaries, Music News CLEVELAND (March 31) - Singer Sean Levert, a third of the 1980s R&B trio LeVert and son of lead O'Jays singer Eddie Levert, has died after falling ill while serving a jail term. He was 39. Photo Gallery Getty Images Recently Departed Music Stars of Every Stripe1 of 16 Sean Levert, March 30: Sean Levert, who sang 'Casanova' and was a legacy in the legendary Levert family, died after he collapsed at a Cleveland jail. No cause has been given for his death. Levert was sent to the Cuyahoga County jail last week for failing to pay child support. He died at Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland late Sunday, less than an hour after he was taken there from the jail, said coroner Frank Miller. An autopsy was planned, he said. His brother Gerald Levert, who had success as a solo artist after leaving their trio died in 2006 at age 40 of an accidental mix of prescription and over-the-counter drugs. The Smooth Sounds of Levert 'Casanova' '(Pop, Pop, Pop) Goes My Mind' The brothers had formed LeVert in the 1980s with childhood friend Marc Gordon. Their hits included and "Baby I'm Ready," "(Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop) Goes My Mind" and "Casanova." "Casanova" was nominated for a Grammy in 1988 for best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocal. It was also nominated for best R&B song. At Gerald Levert's funeral service in November 2006, Sean Levert and his father performed "Dance With My Father" and personalized the words for Gerald. The elder Levert's group, the O'Jays, was known for such smash hits as "Back Stabbers" and "Love Train." Sean Levert found a new third partner last year and was trying to revive LeVert. Warden Kevin McDonough said Levert had been sick and guards were watching him at the jail's regular cellblock because he had been acting strangely. He declined to be more specific about Levert's medical condition. Levert suffered from high blood pressure and had been hallucinating in jail, Caesar said. Toxicology reports could take four to six weeks, he said. Sean Levert had pleaded guilty last week to six counts of nonsupport involving children ages 11, 15 and 17.
  18. Mike left the group in 2002/2003 due to ongoing back problems. I'm so happy for u. The pix are great. BIIM is and always will be one of the greatest R-N-B groups of all time. The Remedy was a flawless album. I wish it was released commercially in the US. Those cover albums are nice, but they aren't gonna generate any real hype like they had thru' the 90's. I'd love 2 see them perform live. Maybe sometime.
  19. Yeah, i waz kinda in2 Father MC back in the day. After his hay day, i got more in2 his stuff. His stuff from Uptown records is the illest. If u like the Uptown sound, Heavy D and the New Jack Swing sound, u'll love Father MC. I have some of his newer stuff and mid-90's stuff as well. Good stuff (tho' some of the harder or sexed up stuff leans a bit towards the common stuff we are used 2 these days). Father MC is definitely over looked and underrated. If u like that song, check "Treat Them Like They Wanna Be Treated." It features Jodeci before they got big...as do a handful of songs off his 1st 2 albums. Also check 1992's "One Nite Stand" featuring Mary J. Blige. This was done as MJB was just coming out. "Close To You" is another personal favorite. Into the mid-90's and the 2000's he's released music independently. Awhile back me and Tim were talking about him and i think Tim said he had a hit overseas awhile back...the US hasn't really heard anything that popular from him since 1993 when he released his last Uptown album.
  20. That's awful. The Levert family has dealt with alot. The sad part is that they are pretty stand up people. I had no idea Sean was in jail for not paying child support. That is the 1st time i've heard anything negative involving the family. Gerald and Sean were keeping the legacy that their father started...and hasn't even retired from yet (the O'Jay's are STILL going). I love Levert. 2 this day they are one of my favorite groups. I have all of their albums except for their 1st which is really rare and goes for LOTS of money when u do find it. I even have Sean's solo album that was over looked. My prayers go out 2 the family.
  21. LEONA LEWIS - (not sure the song title) (or the album title) (2008) But what i do know is that i like this...i hear she's already made noise overseas.
  22. Rapper Beanie Sigel Lands Back in Prison AP Posted: 2008-03-29 14:06:56 Filed Under: Celebrities in Court, Music News (March 29) - Rap star Beanie Sigel has returned to prison. A federal judge in Philadelphia sentenced Sigel to three months in prison Friday after authorities say he gave a false urine sample to probation officials. Officials also say the rapper tested positive five times this month for Xanax and Percocet. Sigel, whose real name is Dwight Grant, was already serving a six-month term in a halfway house for having previously violated supervised release. Sigel told the judge he was an addict and had a relapse when he was sent to the halfway house. In 2004, U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick sentenced Sigel to a year in prison and two years of supervised release after Sigel pleaded guilty to weapons and drug charges. He was acquitted in September 2005 of attempted-murder charges in connection with a shooting. ------------------------------------------------------- This doesn't say much for his character. After previous charges, u think he'd get his crap 2gether...or at least take a mature hold of the self-control in his life so that he didn't end up back there. It's bad enough crappy rappers like Sigel have pop fans thinking that he represents true, quality Hip-Hop music...but when idiot actions follow him, it makes it worse.
  23. ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT - Ease My Mind (Live) The Paradise, Boston, MA 7/25/04 (2004) AD is the truth...your favorite Hip-Hop group sucks compared 2 them! ha ha...jus' playin'
  24. MUSIC SOULCHILD + ESTELLE - People Everyday (Metamorphosis Mix) Meet The Browns Soundtrack (2008) Man, Musiq Soulchild, ATOJ alumni Ivan + Carvin doing a true-2-original Arrested Devleopment classic....just dope. The soundtrack 2 Tyler Perry movies are the best. If u love R-N-B and/or 90's R-N-B, u will be pleased with any of these soundtracks.
  25. Good stuff...i wish i could have seen that show. It sounds interesting. The album is what i'm really looking forward 2. I like the idea that she's working with Johnny J, his stuff is always great, tho' i haven't heard anything new from him in ages. It'll be interesting hearing him do R-N-B. The promo pic for the album looks great. I hope he does well...and that FP's jumps on a remix!!
