  1. I can't stand 2Pac-wannabe's. That's all they are. Their voice is kinda like his so they try to rhyme like him and talk about the same stuff he would. They try to get beats reminiscent of his. I consider them jokes and nothing more. It baffles my mind 2 think of where 2Pac's music would have gone. He was too unpredictable. I may be giving him too much credit with this next statement, but I swear, I believe commercial rap would have NEVER gotten half this bad if he was never murdered. He would have lyrically murdered these copy cats.
  2. I think it's really more of an after thought. "What if I would have said this, done this, etc..." "How would the course of events changed?" kind of thing.
  3. MARSHA AMBROSIUS - Let Me Go Late Nights, Early Mornings (2011) Her new solo album is amazing!! This is soul music. I hope Floetry reunites after their these solo albums slow down.
  4. This is an incredibly odd statement...lol.
  5. I can't remember if other people on this board like her. I've always thought she was one of the more interesting artists of recent years. Maybe going thru' this will help her get her life more on track. -------------------------------------------------------- Lily Allen Opens Up about Her Miscarriage and Eating Disorder Lily Allen is finally opening up for the first time about the tragic loss of her unborn baby last year. The Daily Mail is reporting that Allen has stayed out of the spotlight since her miscarriage in October, but she finally spoke about the heartbreak in the U.K.'s Channel 4 documentary 'Lily Allen: From Riches to Rags.' Allen and boyfriend Sam Cooper were left devastated when she suffered a miscarriage six months into her pregnancy, and her pain was evident during the TV show. Allen said, "It was a really long battle, and I think that kind of thing changes a person." Approximately one week after her miscarriage, Allen was rushed to a hospital requiring emergency treatment for septicaemia (blood poisoning). The 'Smile' singer also revealed she suffered from an eating disorder. "I used to vomit after meals. It's not something I'm proud of. But, I tell you what, a lot of people came up to me telling me how great I looked and I'd be on the cover of every magazine." She continues, "I thought I looked good and it was great to be able to try on clothes and feel a million dollars. But I wasn't happy, I really wasn't. I would love to be the skinniest minniest person in the world but I can't do that without being unhappy -- I like food." Allen's final words on the subject were, "I'm a pop star, not a model. Don't make me feel s**t for not being really skinny and having an eating disorder." Allen got engaged to Cooper on Christmas Day last year in Bali. The couple have been dating for two years, and Cooper reportedly proposed on the balcony of the couple's hotel while the sun set over the Indian Ocean.
  6. That was dope! One of the best non-official music videos I've ever seen!
  7. I watched this a few months ago. I really wish I got to see them on their House Party Reunion tour but they didn't come to my area. They did a handful of shows last year: The Monique Show, VH1's karaoke show, etc. I love the fellas finally got things back together and that they aren't missing a beat. Hopefully there's more Kid 'N Play to come!
  8. BRITNEY SPEARS - Hold It Against Me Femme Fatale (2011) Just a good dance song...hate her if u want...lol
  9. MONICA - Before You Walk Out of My Life Miss Thang (1995) I miss when R-N-B sounded like this.
  10. RICH CRONIN - Story of My Life Billion Dollar Sound (2008) Miss you, brotha.
  11. Da Brat Completes Prison Bid Da Brat is a free woman. The 36-year-old rapper has been released from prison after serving a three-year bid, stemming from an incident where she struck a woman over the head with a rum bottle in an Atlanta club in 2007. Though she got a taste of freedom over the past year while participating in a work-release program, Da Brat has completed her sentence according to her associate Jermaine Dupri. "Happy day for me and all SO SO DEF fans, Da BRAT is finally home," tweeted JD, who has worked with the Chi-town rapstress since the release of her debut 'Funkdafied' in 1994. Brat's sentence stems from an altercation at Studio 72's Halloween party in 2007, where she got into a verbal argument with the hostess. While the hostess was talking with the manager, Brat crept up behind her and clocked her with the bottle. After pleading guilty to aggravated assault charges, she was sentenced to three years in prison as well as seven years of probation and 200 hours of community service. Last May, she was released from prison on a temporary basis where she worked a 9-to-5 as a window maker. "If ya'll need a window, holla at ya girl," she joked at the time. "I'm doing my thing. When I come back I'm going to be making windows, movies, music, TV shows. Anything I can get my hands on."
  12. NELLY w/ TALIB KWELI + ALI - Go 5.0 - Deluxe Edition (2010) Good job, Nelly.
  13. God Bless Ice-T!! This is dope! The pictures at the end kinda threw me off here and there. I'm so hyped to see this. Just seeing real Hip-Hop on screen is refreshing.
  14. Boom! is a good track...but it's not a great track. It's always been my least favorite track on the album. It has the weakest production and the least focused lyrics in my opinion. It's appeal and classicness is strictly related to it's time, video, and the fact that it's a feel-good party track that came out in a time that Hip-Hop was dark and negative.
  15. MC HAMMER - U Can't Touch This Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em (1989)
  16. Okay, I don't see how this can be true. The show was totally written with the Fresh Prince in mind. I can't see how it could have existed in some other form for Kid 'N Play and then have been reworked to fit JJ+FP. All of the interviews I've read with FP and Quincy Jones always talked about how JJ+FP's music videos played a role in the formation of the show. It just doesn't make sense.
  17. Ah, this was posted a long time ago. I forgot all about it. This is crazy.
  18. Interesting. I wondering who's gonna tell this guy it was produced by Teddy Riley and not Jazzy Jeff...lol. Allow me!
  19. I knew a few of you like her as well so I'm sharing this new song and article... After topping the Billboard 200 with her sophomore album, "Breakthrough," Colbie Caillat is set to return in the spring with her third full-length, "All Of You." The 14-song set will be released May 3 on Universal Republic. Callait tells Billboard.com that the forthcoming album is a natural progression from her 2007 "Coco" debut and 2009's "Breakthrough," which yielded the hit singles "Bubbly" and "Fallin' For You," respectively, and have sold a combined 2.7 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "I still incorporate all the styles that I love that were on 'Breakthrough' and 'Coco,' but it's a new chapter," says the California native. "I've experienced more and I've written with new songwriters who are really talented, but it's still my same music and feel and sound. The songs are more up-tempo on this record, and it's like a full-on summer album." The 25-year-old began recording "All Of You" last summer in California and finished up the album between tour dates last fall. The breezy first single, "I Do," debuted at No. 23 on the Hot 100 in February and has since sold 154,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Meanwhile, Caillat is excited to unveil the new track "Favorite Song," a guitar-driven pop collaboration with Common in which Caillat croons between the rapper's slick verses. "I've loved Common's music for years," Caillat says of the unlikely pairing, which was put into motion when the two artists met each other at an event for the Grammys in 2009. "He ended up singing his song 'The Light,' and he needed a girl singer [for the chorus] and I was like, 'I know it!' Afterward he was like, "I love your song and I love your voice.' It took about a year for us to get something together, but it worked out better than we could have imagined." Caillat penned two album tracks with pop songwriter Ryan Tedder (Beyonce, Leona Lewis), while Toby Gad, Jason Reeves and Rick Nowels all have writing credits on "All Of You." Meanwhile, Caillat's boyfriend, musician Justin Young, wrote three songs on the album with the singer, an experience she calls "so much fun. I've never been interested in musicians before, and now having a boyfriend that plays amazing guitar and piano and has a beautiful voice… it's cheesy but it's awesome, because we write these songs about our relationship and it brought us closer together." As the release of "All of You" approaches, Caillat is finalizing a month-long U.S. trek around the date in which she will play stripped-down versions of the new tracks. The singer also hopes to "jump on a big summer tour" after that short run. Here is the list of songs on "All Of You" (sequencing not yet finalized): "What If" "Before I Let You Go" "Shadow" "Make It Rain" "I Do" "What Means the Most" "Dream Life Life" "Happier" "All Of You" "Like Yesterday" "Brighter Than the Sun" "Favorite Song" (featuring Common) "Stereo" "Think Good Thoughts"
  20. DR. DRE + EMINEM - I Need A Doctor Detox (2011) I think the video is a bit over dramatic but I love the flash backs and the very end of it. I love that the lyrics show comradary the way they do. Good job for not beating a dead horse by talking about weed and ho's!!
  21. I agree 100%...any chance you could shoot it my way? The US just didn't support him after those allegations. The US was just plain evil to him. I don't blame him for leaving the US for so many years and staying under the radar.
  22. I think both of those single were great but they barely got appropriate attention. I thought the One More Chance video was weird tho.' You hardly see MJ from the front at all. I thought it was a double until I saw the first face shot. I'm only kinda convinced it wasn't a double now...lol.
  23. Yeah, I just looked up the other albums. I was aware of a few of the songs on them but never knew he actually put out an album. Half of the songs on his 2008 album are on the 2006 album. I couldn't previous the one from 2009. From what I did hear, he had few stand out tracks. I split the rest of the music right down the middle...half them okay...the other half awful. Apparently he didn't get the memo that "gangsta" is dead and we all know he isn't one...lol. GINUWINE - Heaven Elgin (2011) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gglSTw3Mc4o Seriously, y'all. Don't sleep. Best R-N-B album of 2011 so far (even tho' it's only February)!
  24. I don't dislike those songs, I just think "Hollywood Tonight" sounds way too dated. It sounds like the early 90's too much for me to see it getting much success. "Behind The Mask" just sounds over produced. To be honest, I think those songs are probably the weakest songs on the album. Keep Your Head Up, (I Like) The Way You Love Me, Monster, are Best Of Joy, are the highlights of the album to me. I think they'd be better choices. MJ's last HUGE hit was "You Are Not Alone" and I think it's important to put out on of his classic love songs instead of only the upbeat/dance songs.
