Album Cover For LL's "Todd Smith 2: Return To Cool" Album
Silver Tiger replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
What I know is this: I love quality hip hop. LL has got it. He's got flow and he's on point. G-Unit does not. lil' Wayne's presence on Hollywood Divorce is a great example of how I believe many of TS2's songs will turn out. LL will be on point and the craptacular rappers he's rolling with won't. They'll go off subject and rap about themselves, their money, whatever. It always happens. I came here this morning with a fresh mind... but I re-read the tracklist... ""G's" (Featuring G-unit & Lil Scrappy) (Produced by 50 cent)"... I said to myself "Oh, you know that's gonna be good." It's really depressing as an LL fan. Maybe I'll end up buying half the album on iTunes, but I'm sure I won't be getting the whole thing. It's like I said in the Will topic concerning his affiliation with 50. I think Will is a great rapper, but he is not my God. Same applies to LL. I can respect a man without accepting everything that he does as a stroke of brilliance on his part. God Blessa! -

Now you're putting words in my mouth. I never said nothing about choosing to support underground over mainstream, nor did I mention the topic. I also said nothing about supporting him. No, I don't have to support the album. It's my dollar and I'll vote with it. As of now I vote TS v.1 over TS v.2. I'm sure it'll have some dope songs but there's enough on there to flash warning lights for someone who doesn't have a lot to spend on CDs. LL is still a dope rapper in my eyes but a lot of the people he's working with will water down the songs for me. Come on, you'll mute the song when a bad verse hits the speaker? No you won't. Fine get me the a capellas and I'll make a good song out of the LL verses. God Blessa! -

Well there's no hate because he's a popular rapper. I would have had to ditch Will a thousand times over in 97. "now just 'cause 50's last album was weak doesn't mean that his whole career is garbage" I never said that. I said that what I see today is crap. The way I see it is the music he's released over the last few years have not been worth a damn, whether or not it was on his album. LL can do whatever he wants but it will affect my purchase decisions. Instead of spending $10 I'll be spending $3 or $4. God Blessa! -

I'm not even getting on LL for the PA. I just mentioned it. And "Many Men"? Geez... what is so great about Many Men? The hook? Cause I really hope you're not talking about those lyrics. Before 50 blew up I'd look at Ja Rule as the point of rap hitting its lowest. Then 50 got big and screwed with logic by starting beef with him. People started to hate Ja Rule because 50 hated him and not because his raps were weak. "really the worst rappers are the ones who never get signed, if you wanna hear a real garbage rap just listen to some internet thugs posting on myspace that make 50 Cent sound like Rakim I swear to God, lol...." Those kids that sing the Vans song sound just like the myspace kids, they got signed. I could care little less about how much work crappy rappers did to be able to put out no-flow, thoughtless songs today. I respect work ethic, but I don't have to respect the work. God Blessa! -

I know he use to rap with PA's. I've got them, but he said he was done with that. You mention Kel Spencer, but Kel Spencer can spit some of the hardest verses without one curse. Yes, the G-Unit camp really is THAT bad to me. I hate the idea of giving them any money for their wack elementary school rhymes. I love the fact that there will be songs (but just 2) with Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, and 3000- and I'll prove that with a couple iTunes downloads. I'm not afraid of change. What I don't like is great rappers like LL playing with crap rappers like 50 Cent just to ball higher on the sales charts. Unless of course LL really thinks 50 displays some worthy skills... God help us all. God Blessa! Heavy D and Rakim also come to mind with mcs making great rhymes without having a PA sticker, it ain't necessary to curse to be a great mc, it's really about skills, now listen to one of 50's early mixtapes and tell me that he don't have skills, maybe not on Rakim level but really few do have that ability, 50 could be good at times, I don't even know if I'd put Kel on Rakim's level respectfully speaking... I only named Kel because you did. Lyrically, I'd probably put Rakim above everyone mentioned in this thread. I've heard some of 50's early stuff and I'm still not seeing what makes him so great. Even his cancelled album stuff (just check the video, he's got like 40 idiots in the background looking like idiots for the camera). God Blessa! I mentioned Kel 'cause I was talking currently how him and FP are the only ones currently that rap without PA since basically rappers like Rakim and Heavy D haven't released an album in this millenium yet, and well you might be dissapointed about LL working with G-Unit but Rakim's working on his next album with Dipset so he'll probably have a PA sticker on his next album too, and now with G-Unit, they were highly respected underground rap crew for years, some of the most credible mcs wanted to work with them, it ain't just now 'cause they're selling millions that people wanna work with them Rakim has had a PA before. "now with G-Unit, they were highly respected underground rap crew for years, some of the most credible mcs wanted to work with them, it ain't just now 'cause they're selling millions that people wanna work with them" I'm not gonna play like I know the history of G-Unit, but I know that, in my eyes, the G-Unit of today is a growing group of crap. The songs that come out are a mishmash recycling of their old songs, that incidently, don't have any real substance to them. God Blessa! -

Let me get that off to a start. From IMDB's trivia about him: "When Kevin Smith was hired as writer for the "Superman" movie back in 1997, he had several discussions with Peters about the film. Peters told Smith that he didn't want Superman to wear the suit, he didn't want him to fly, and he wanted Superman to fight a giant spider in the end. When Smith left the project, the "Superman" movie never got made but, in 1999, Jon Peters produced Wild Wild West (1999) which had the heroes attacked by a giant spider in the end." People there are saying that he's literally illiterate and that all the scripts are read to him. I think once the giant robot spider showed up in WWW there was no hope left for the movie. God Blessa!

Will's says he still loves hip-hop
Silver Tiger replied to bigted's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
If anything, the music part of the interview depressed me more. Will is an excellent rapper but he is not my God. I can't state my stance and change it whenever Will goes against it. THIS: WS: I love hip-hop and always will. I am hip-hop. Our hip-hop culture is the world's greatest culture because it's the world's only culture, other than sports, that unites every race for one common thing: rockin' the mic and rockin' the crowd. THIS is autopilot Will. This is what Will Smith the actor has got to say. It's a lot like Will Smith the rapper but more rehearsed. Then there's the hypocrisy factor. Will has been known to call bad rappers out without using names, but now he's giving props to bad rappers by name. If 50 Cent isn't the low-level rapper described in Lost and Found then WHO is? He's guilty of everything described on the song. I'll take a lot of heat for this post but it needs to be said. If this means Will is gonna make another album within the next few years then great. But if this means that Will is gonna make another album with anyone on the level of 50 then don't tell me. Another thing that sucks from this interview is that I got no vibe that said he's even interesting in making another album anytime soon. Ok. God Blessa! -

You didn't miss-hear anything. He said it strong too. The thing is, yesterday I had a feeling that L&F might be his last album. When he was promoting L&F he kept talking about music being his first love, but after hearing the audio interview and this one I'm feeling like he won't dedicate the time for an album. Just look how long we have to wait for any album from him. I really hope it's not true, but I'm having doubts that we'll get anything new. God Blessa!

I went to bed early last night so I could get up early. This of course meant I wouldn't be able to fall even half-asleep until 2am. I woke up at 5:30 and got to Target probably a few minutes before 6. I had been checking back to see the line situation and how many units the store was getting. But I got there this morning. I said "Goodmorning!" to the 5 or 6 people in front of me. "Goodmorning!" they replied. This made my plan to listen to my iPod for 2 hours obsolete. Hurray for talking to people. This Target was supposed to be getting 210 but when I got there, numbers as low as 150 were being thrown around. The guy in front of me counted, I was number 150. Ok, now that you've skipped over the nonsense above, I'm going to talk about the Wii now ...well, not really. There ended up being "200." I'm guessing they got 210 but were being devious. I was number 153 and I got a Wii shirt. The sneaky bastards that are Target had a promotion of "Buy 3 games, get a free $20 gift card." So GOSH DARNIT, I ended up spending $3 short of $500 today. WAY. TOO. MUCH. And I haven't even played it. I got home and went to bed for 3 hours. I'll be driving back to my dorm soon. Then I'll finally get to play the thing that obviously worth all this time. All this and I don't even play video games that much. God Blessa! -
Wow, I didn't realize how much slang I use. I was gonna bold all the one's I say but I realized it would be half the list. God Blessa!

Wammy, we've done this dance before. If you leave again, don't bother coming back. We had to sticky a recovery thread when you left. Tim took donations for a relief fund (but apparently that money might not have gotten farther than his own wallet). People started asking the big questions when you left. "Is a world without no1wammy a world worth living in?" We cursed ourselves for being so foolish as to let you escape. We sent out rescue parties to leave no rock unturned until they found you. None survived... and now you're back. You've got our heart in your hands, keep it close. God Blessa!

Top 10 Soundscan Album Sales - 11/15/06
Silver Tiger replied to TopDawg14's topic in Caught in the Middle
I feel you there, real hip-hop ain't selling 'cause there ain't enough real hip-hop fans, that's what it comes down to, there's more teenagers making up the market that think Nelly was the pioneer of hip-hop than there is knowledgable fans that know about hip-hop so that's why it don't sell, even those so called hip-hop heads like to talk about how wack 50 Cent is more than talk about how much they like rappers like Lupe, the good news is that at least Lupe outsold K-Fed and sold as much as Chingy considering that you figure more white teenagers would want K-Fed and Chingy than Lupe, lol, but in all seriousness though who gives a f about sales, CL Smooth may not go platinum like Lil' Wayne but he's still a better mc than Lil' Wayne'll ever be, and now Robin Thicke might be able to do what Lyfe Jennings did last year, maybe at this time next year he'll be certified platinum I agree, but the only reason I want some decent sales is so that any future albums get acceptable promotion and work put into them. God Blessa! -

Lupe deserves numbers WAY higher than that. The album is just produced so well. He's rappin some talent as well. I wish people (here included) would stop talking about which crappy rapper is better and start talking about why the great one's are great. God Blessa! -

I hate when DJ's do that. They didn't invite you to be in the song in the first place, talking over everything isn't going to include you any more, it'll just annoy people. I'm sure I'll like the song when I listen again, the DJ was too distracting the first spin. God Blessa!

Very nice production. Good flow. Pretty terrible great overall! Do you have lyrics for it? God Blessa!
