You’ve gotta move with the times Ted. Everything evolves to cater to a current audiences preferences. It’s not ignorance, it’s just not what they like or have even heard. If anything the older heads who don’t even attempt to listen to new school stuff before branding it trash, are the ignorant ones.

    A decade of music

Since the decade is almost over I thought it would be a great idea to list all the songs Will did in the last 10 years. Just to get an overview of the of the music he did. I'll try to start this list. Keep in mind we're talking about the music he released from 2010 until 2020. If I missed something you guys can always add more. 2015 Fiesta (Remix) - Bomba Estéreo & Will Smith 2017 Get Lit - Will Smith 2018 Icon(Reggaeton Remix) - Jaden Smith featuring Nicky Jam & Will Smith Live It Up - Nicky Jam featuring Era Istrefi & Will Smith Está Rico - Marc Anthony featuring Bad Bunny & Will Smith 2019 Don't Be Afraid to Be Different - Logic featuring Will Smith Arabian Nights - Will Smith Friend Like Me - Will Smith Prince Ali - Will Smith Friend Like Me (End Title) - Will Smith featuring DJ Khaled

Nail on the head. His career buzz wasn’t even highest in the 90s. FPOBA has been appreciated more since it wrapped, 96 is where his career took off. Then he had a flawless, bankable period through 2000-2008, where if his name was attached to a project it went ballistic.

Most of us know about this elusive remix. It popped up on a few mixtapes (on actual cassettes) back in 1997/1998. It often had the mixtape host screaming over it. It was never released, not even on a proper promotional CD, cassette, or 12". However, nearly 10 years ago, it was briefly available on Amazon digitally. I'm not sure about other digital platforms. The remix then disappeared. Since FP didn't have music coming out, I haven't been looking for it. However, I just noticed that it's back. For those of you who didn't get to buy/download it, and for those that are new to this remix, here it is. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073J35F29/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp Interestingly, the So So Def remix that was released on singles overseas was much smoother and featured LaTocha from Xscape on the hook. Here's a version of it that a DJ tweaked. The strange thing about the credits for this remix is that is says there's a rap performed by R.O.C. and that Lord Tariq + Peter Gunz provided additional vocals. Perhaps there's another version of it featuring R.O.C. (one of the dopest late 90's/early 00's emcees who never had his label released) and LT+PG on the hook.

The Council - New Netflix movie

Will Smith To Star As Crime Boss Nicky Barnes In Netflix Film ‘The Council’ Will Smith will take on the role of New York City crime boss Nicky Barnes in his next Netflix film The Council. The project will re-team Smith with Concussion helmer Peter Landesman, who wrote the screenplay for the new film and will executive produce. Smith and partner James Lassiter are producing the pic for Westbrook Inc.’s Overbrook Entertainment along with Jackson Pictures’ Matt Jackson and Jason Essex for Anonymous Nobodies. Landesman’s script tells the never-before-told story of a crime syndicate consisting of seven African-American men who ruled Harlem in the 1970s and early ’80s. No ordinary crime syndicate – the men dreamed of a self-sufficient and self-policing African American city-state, funded by revolutionizing the drug game. The movie centers on the Shakespearean court intrigue between The Council’s king, Nicky Barnes, dubbed “Mr. Untouchable” by the New York Times, and all the different members as one unlikely rising protégé emerges. Barnes, born Leroy Nicholas Barnes, was active during the 1970s leading an international drug trafficking ring, in partnership with the Italian-American mafia. He was arrested in 1978 and sentenced to life imprisonment, eventually becoming a federal informant, which led to the demise of The Council. Barnes died from cancer in 2012, however, his death was recently made known due to him being under witness protection. Landesman will serve as an executive producer with Jackson Pictures’ Joanne Lee and David Lee from Anonymous Nobodies. Smith, most recently seen on the big screen as Genie in Disney’s live-action Aladdin remake, has Fox’s Spies in Disguise animation, the Ang Lee-directed Gemini Man at Paramount, and Sony’s Bad Boys For Life sequel upcoming. Ryan Goodell of Morris Yorn negotiated on behalf of Essex, while CAA and Andrew Galker from Jackoway Austen negotiated on behalf of Landesman. Overbrook is repped by CAA and Sloan, Offer. Jackson Pictures is with CAA and Manatt, Phelps & Phillips. Source: https://deadline.com/2019/09/will-smith-nicky-barnes-netflix-the-council-1202743073/

I also saw that BNF performance and wanted to download it but it was gone real quick. I don't understand why Will or his people are so secretive about these things. Isn't some of his people JL and Omar too? I just dont get it. I couldn't give two craps about Will's movies but when it comes to music please give me as much as possible! Lol

Dope stuff! They should do a B-sides show, only songs that weren’t released as singles... how dope would that be!

Remember when JJ+FP performed "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It", "Switch" and "Yo Home To Bel-Air/FPOBA theme" at Live 8 in 2005? The event was huge and featured performances from dozens of other artists. Well, they just recently released the audio. You can check it out here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SG79DTZ/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp

    'Aladdin' - Will as Genie

Just saw Aladdin. Same story as Tim. Full house, all ages. A lot of positive talk about Will. Even some applause at the end which never happens in Belgium. I liked it. Loved the end credits hearing the new version of Friend Like Me.

    'Aladdin' - Will as Genie

Ain't this the truth. It sounds like many of the critics went in looking to hate it, and surprise, surprise, found things to hate. Most off the criticism centered on "Why was this even made? Can't people just enjoy the one made 27 years ago?" The criticisms are also quite disparate. Some critics hated it because they viewed it as unnecessary a "scene by scene" remake of the original... it wasn't. Others hated it because too many things were changed and some of their supposed favorite parts from the original didn't make it into the live action version. Those two criticisms are mutually exclusive; this particular story can't be too similar and too different at the same time. The good thing is that I've noticed that some of those who have seen it and like it have called out the critics for some of this non-sense. Not to dismiss anyone's criticisms, but some of the bashing really is non-sense, and I'm glad to see that movie goers are smarter than what the critics give them credit for. It's shaping up to be a big year for Will.

    'Aladdin' - Will as Genie

94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes too. This and Bright are proof of how critics are extremely detached from what the consumer actually wants from the film industry and Hollywood. Wills career is beginning to thrive again. He has the calibre to win an Oscar, but his forte is in the action, sci-fi, comedic roles. Im glad to see him returning to those genres. Spies in Disguise looks like it’s gonna be a fun one for the family and Gemini Man looks dope as anything we’ve seen him do. Then of course Bad Boys for Life. It’s a very good time to be a Will Smith fan right now.

    'Aladdin' - Will as Genie

It was phenomenal... i absolutely loved it.. Aladdin, Lion King and The Little Mermaid are my favourite Disney films so I was so happy to see a live action remake of of 2/3. I think it was done perfectly and I loved the new twist they added... Like Rebirth said its feeling very nostalgic for us Will Smith fans at the moment.

Damn Ted, you’ve been the most actively disappointed in Will not making music, then when he does, because it’s not quite the flavour you want, it’s an issue too calm down dude, it’s not that serious. This track is dope. Logics new age but with an old school twist and not a mumble rapper and Wills flow and content is somehow nostalgically fresh. Can’t hate on this in the slightest.

Logic wouldn't be my first choice either but the track is pretty good. Way better than songs like "Get Lit" or "Live It Up". I don't think that Will's gonna drop an album though. Unfortunately Logic is a little corny nowadays lyric wise. But he also put out some good stuff in the past. I would recommend listening to his first album "Under Pressure" or the first three Young Sinatra-Mixtapes (2010-2013). Second album was aight too but the rest of his discography isn't for me.

    Get Lit

Hey man - I agree with all that you said. I don't mind Get Lit as I do enjoy house and some EDM but he's not giving us what we want. We want BARS! Will needs to actually SPIT BARS. Once that happens, he'll get more attention online. I don't care if he wants to experiment, you have to as an artist. Caution in the WIld could've been so much better if it was a full song and if he didn't repeat the same 4 lines or so in both "verses". The Fiesta remix video was pretty dope - imagine if those visuals were used for a proper rap comeback song. I've been saying it for years that he's super secretive and insecure about his music...but says one thing and then says something else. He drops L+F saying how much he loves music and then never drops another single or album. In the music industry, if you don't have some recent, it's out of sight, out of mind and in Will's case - 12 years?! Completely out of mind. There's a whole generation of people who didn't know he was a rapper before the movies. Another example - back in 2005, he said he was going to do stuff online. Where's the website? He doesn't even have a legit website. How about a soundcloud? He's so out of touch. I don't think he's cared much either about his music career and truth be told - it shows. One more example in 2015 - "Oh yeah Jeff and I are going to do a proper world tour because we've never done it and its going to be in 2016." ....We got 2 shows in 2016. Not exactly a tour. I get he's the biggest movie star on the planet but give me a break - he doesn't have to make movies another day in his life. If you really wanted to do music - you do it. Don't say we're going on tour and then go sign on for another 2 movies....seriously. This is where my frustration sets in. If he wants to be taken seriously again regarding music, he needs to drop bars. Plain and simple. You don't need to sell records anymore - just do it for the love and people will respond.

Ok if I've done this right, if you play that video, it should go onto the next song when it's finished. I'm missing the 2nd part of Nightmare and the 2nd part of I wanna rock. Other than that, it's pretty much the full concert.
