I don't expect any new music quite yet. Without getting in2 it all over again, the stuff on the radio is inexcusable. Who wants 2 be a part of that. And with fools like Hurricain Chris, Young Joc, Pretty Ricky, Soulja Boy, and Baby Boy on the radio, who wants 2 compete with untalented "Dirty South" commerical rappers? Lost + Found is only 2 and a half years old. FP's about 2 get rejuvinated. I'm sure we'll hear something in the upcoming months. Definitely by this whole strike thing. He may be waiting for his nephew 2 drop his album so as to not compete or overshadow his attempt.

He's got that whole charisma thing going on 2. He's just naturally a nice guy. He's funny and he's got style. Even when he waz overweight, with an lazy eye and a chipped tooth, the ladies loved him. He showed them respect and gave them props in so many songs ("Sista Sista" being my favorite). Yet, he also has that rugged side the any ruffneck will nod his head 2 ("Who's The Man" is still on point 2 this day). After getting back in2 this post, i'm definitly wanting some new music from the DiddlydiddlyD.

I haven't been able 2 check the song yet...but i will soon. I think i'm just scared 2 hear it. This probably will be his worst album. He just doesn't care. He doesn't want to create real music under the label that used 2 be Def Jam. The game is so bad right now he probably feels that the album will be swallowed up and forgotten anyway. After all, this is the emcee who has stayed true 2 himself, reguardless of crazy success and lack of it. Right now, i'm looking forward 2 LL long term...not LL short term. Real quick tho'...does anyone know where the "Freeze" remix can be found. And official release of it? "Bump This" is a random b-side. The "Freeze" remix has been impossible 4 me 2 find.

Ha, i've always wanted them 2 work 2gether. Heavy D has always been in my top 4 or 5 emcees of all time. I think all of his albums are great. Heavy (1999) has a more current Heavy D, Waterbed Hev (1997) is his slick late 90's album (compared BWS), u've got Nuttin' But Love and Peaceful Jorney. Blue Funk is his moody album that came out Peaceful Jorney and Nuttin' But Love. It features the hit "Who's The Man" and on of my favorites "Truthful." It also has appearances from Busta Rhymes and Biggie b4 they blew up. Big Tyme is the classic late 80's album with a strong New Jack Swing feel. His 1st album (forget the title at the moment) is classic old school.

Whoa, after the video ended a link for "Is It Good To You" came up. That waz my 2nd favorite joint of Peaceful Journy. They never aired this video much. Lovin' this!!

Heavy D has always been one of my favorite emcees. I've been holding out for a new album forever!! His last album dropped in 1999. Other than that, the only thing i can remember him doing is producing a track on Timbaland + Magoo's last album...which waz really good. "Nuttin' But Love" is one of the defining albums in 90's Hip-Hop. I had some classic singles (Got Me Waiting, Nuttin' But Love, Black Coffee, It's Your Night, Sex Wit U). Heavy D has always brought quality stuff with a touch of class. Seeing this video brought back memories. This video waz in heavy rotation all summer.

I wasn't being harsh...just joking around.

I picked up Guru's Jazzmatazz, Vol. 4 "The Hip-Hop Jazz Messenger-Back To The Future" 2day. Back in high school, i picked up Guru's Jazzmatazz Vol. 2 (i missed the 1st one at that point) and i fell in love with the album. Many people recognize him as one of the best emcees of all time, but these Jazzmatazz albums have always put him steps ahead of the other hip-hop musicians. This new album follows the formula of the previous Jazzmatazz albums (i don't have the 3rd volume) and updates it all. Guru's monotone voice spits some of the most down 2 earth lyrics ever. He always drops universal rhymes on these Jazzmatazz albums. Most people who don't even grow up in Hip-Hop can relate 2 these lyrics. He also doesn't cuss on this records. The music is solid and unique. It's loaded with Hip-Hop mixed with Jazz and live instruments. On top of that, he features other Hip-Hop, R-N-B, and Jazz artists on the project (the Jazzmatazz albums are never intended 2 be real solo albums). On this one u'll find Common Sense, Slum Village, Blackalicious, Raheem DeVaughn, Vivian Green, Kem, Bobby Valentino, amoungst others. Gang Starr fans looking for an alternative vibe from Guru will love the album as will any true Hip-Hop or Acid Jazz fan. I haven't been excited about an album like this in awhile.

JumpinJack AJ replied to bart5's topic in Caught in the Middle
I saw the CL Smooth mixtape that just came out. I really wanna get that. But i haven't spent enough time with American Me yet. -

Cars, cloths, bling? That's not lifestyle. That's personal insecurities that are being covered up with material things that really don't mean anything. U can't take that stuff with u when u die. Sure, i want a nice car, nice cloths, and a comfortable lifestyle. I think everybody has their own version of the perfect car 4 them, their personal style of cloths, and wants to life a comfortable lifestyle for themselves and their family. My problem is that these commercial rappers glorify it. The don't talk about it or own material things cuz they need them...they do it just 2 do it. They want 2 be cool and they want 2 be accepted. They rent the cars that everyone wants and put in their music video. They wear what the rapper in the top spot is wearing. They aren't being "real" or doing it for themselves. They are a living, breathing puppet doing the same cookie cutter thing the next commerical rapper is doing. When u have money like that (actually own it...not just talk about it), u need 2 'live 2 give.' U have a responcibility to help the next man. If u are so 'hood' and 'reppin' your block'...why aren't u helping out the people on your block?? Oh wait, u can just put them in your video with 5 expensive cars u rented while u talk about nothing in your music and hold up your idiotic jewelery. These fools need 2 give up their "lifestyle" and actually get a "life."

Michael Jackson saves a childs life
JumpinJack AJ replied to analogue's topic in Caught in the Middle
I think that food fight is on the VHS/DVD "Dangerous: The Short Films" which is amazing. It has all of the videos from the Dangerous album and is loaded with bonus stuff. -

Michael Jackson saves a childs life
JumpinJack AJ replied to analogue's topic in Caught in the Middle
I think that is the MJ his big fans are used 2...but 2 those who only know him thru' the media, this is somehow a surprise. -
:shakehead: No offence...but when did u start listening 2 Rap and Hip-Hop? 2000 maybe? JJ+FP waz on an indie label back in 1986 before their deal with Jive. When LL Cool J and Beastie Boys were coming out, Def Jam waz an indie label. Master P's No Limit (tho' i'd never consider that crap real music) waz an indie label. Lil' Jon isn't the 1st when it comes 2 anything...other than selling millions of records without even being a recording artist. I'm interested in how old u are if u are giving Lil' Jon and 50 Cent props.

JOHN REUBEN - Treats Professional Rapper (2007)
-
I agree with statements like that, but the truth is, most artists like FP see the trash on the charts and i makes them NOT wanna create anything new. True artists are so outnumbered they don't even have the motivation to fight. Their only motivation seems 2 be from their own hunger for the mic and whether they have time 2 put in2 it. I don't blame them.

TALIB KWELI (PRODUCED BY PETE ROCK) - Stay Around Eardrum (2007) Alright, i've come 2 the conclusion that Talib Kweli is the best emcee of the last 10 years. Every single album and song he's done is totally true 2 himself with dope lyrics, a crazy flow, dope production, and filled with heart. He is the most consistant emcee of the last 10 years...CHECK THE ALBUM!!
-
Who is surprised?! This all started over 10 years ago. Things have declined 2 the point that any true Hip-Hop fan has no business turning on the radio. Rappers are disposable. Their careers and songs are easily forgetable. Most albums feature trendy guest appearances on every single song...u have 2 check the album cover 2 remind yourself it's someone's album and not a mixtape. No creativity or imagination is in the mix anymore. Rappers are some of the dumbest people to ever hit radio and TV. The production is so awful that semi-intellegent people turn on the radio and think "am i being punked?" When charts show that the masses are actually willing and able 2 listen 2 crap like Young Joc, Young Dro Soulja Boy, Hurricaine Chris, Lil' Wayne, Lil' Jon, Baby Boy, D4L, G-Unit, and Shop Boys, it's truely a sign that rap is dead. It's dead. If it's gonna be like that, who wants it alive? There will always be this thing Hip-Hop, where creative and artistic people will stretch their imagination and express themselves. Whether it's mainstream or totally underground, it will be there. At this point, i'm not so sure it's even worth wanted a "comeback" of real music. Of course i want 2 see Public Enemy, JJ+FP, Queen Latifah, LL Cool J, KRS-One, Mos Def, The Roots, Talib Kweli, MC Lyte, Naughty By Nature, EPMD, Rakim on TV and hear them on the radio...but as long as the music is coming out, i could care less if it's actually popular. If there's one thing i hate, it's when people hear the crap on the radio and think it's Hip-Hop. Maybe a temporary death of rap will establish the real from the fake, the good from the bad, and the Hip-Hop from the cRap.

Yeah, they've both been on the charts since the early 2000's. These days, that's a lifetime. Are commerical rap fans still interested in them? If not, they have 2 rely on making good music. That means 50 Cent has no hope. Another thing that could come in2 play is who they run with. 50 Cent has no respectable musical partners unless LL is still working with him. Kanye on the other hand is cool with people like Common Sense, Talib Kwelie, Jamie Foxx, Alicia Keys, Brandy, etc. Kanye can put 2gether some good beats when he takes his time. If he can just get rid of that idiotic ego and focus on writing good lyrics...then he only needs 2 improve his flow 2 become a more legit artist.
-
Ha...what r u talking about. Half of the emcees and rappers that have gained success all started as "indie" artists. Many artists came before him. Lil' Jon has been producing since the early 90's! His early stuff waz actually good (years before "crunk").
