Has anyone looked for this recently? I haven't seen it in stores in ages. I, of course, picked my copy up the week it came out. Whenever I'm looking for new music online I occasionally see it at a decent price but alot of times I see it going for $80. That's crazy. Does anyone know how many copies of this were pressed?

JumpinJack AJ replied to DevilsJim89's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Ha, I remember my days of randomly chewing on straws. That was over 10 years ago...it's probably awful for you teeth. I'm concerned about Jeff's dental care. :prof: -

Awesome!!! Loved the story of your night. I'd love to make it up to NJ for the other show but I can't get that day off. (Sick day, possibly). I'll see him again sometime. The pix are great. -
That's one of my favz off the new album. I was listening 2 it earlier today. This new album is much better than her last. MIA SABLE - Come In Light (2009) I stumbled across this artist the other day. She's on a real mellow pop/soul vibe.

JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
It is recent...they mentioned DJ Hero which just came out. There are no nails in the JJ+FP coffin. I hope everyone is still visiting this board when they come back so I can say "I told ya so!!" :) -

Happy B-Day!

I agree. I admire him going for it like that. But at the same time, where he career is right now, is it necessary. And on top of that, how many Hip-Hop double albums were dope all the way thru'? Not many of them. Ignoring the big names that have done it, when it came to quality music, even some of the biggest names have dropped double albums and they were riddled with filler tracks.

Really? Where can I find a physical copy of My Favs?!?!?? I never saw it anywhere.
-
Does anyone know if any physical copies of this were made? I've only seen digital copies except for one. I hate MP3, having them mixed up on the computer. I saw one physical copy that is a printed CD with a glossy insert. The price was really cheap so I got it, figuring even if was made by the mixtape dealer, it was worth having it on CD. If that was the case, hopefully the mixtape runs with out the second silence gap between each track.

I don't know. There's no reason to go there. It's not growing fast. The people who did join it aren't going to be checking it if nothing is going on and may even leave. I think we've been silent for long enough. I think something needs to happen by US to spike things a little bit.

Things that makes the Chris Brown album cover incredibly stupid. 1. The guitar (as far as we know, he doesn't play...is there going to be much guitar in the new songs?) 2. The tight clothes (did he give up on girls after Rihanna?) 3. The cheezy album cover font (welcome to the 80's) 4. The metalic arm (why?) 5. The cartoon characters (...really...Why?) 6. The outerspace/futuristic concept (outerspace is cheezy in any music genre...much less R-N-B...plus the "futuristic" vibe died with the year 2000) 7. All of the above being put on the same album cover in which they don't match/blend/go together After doing something very wrong which was shared very publicly, it's imporant for an artist to regroup and come out with their best work if they want their career/image to survive. R. Kelly pulled it off (tho' it all went downhill after Happy People/U Saved Me) but Chris Brown is stupid 2 think this album cover is acceptable, much less after being known as an immature, insecure, abusive, hot tempered jerk.

I saw an old video with her the other day....wearing simple cloths, long gorgous hair, realistic make-up. She was just interviewing and being the girl next door. I love Rihanna. I think her music is really good (especially her 1st 2 albums) and I think she's beautiful. But once her fame spiked, the label formally known as Def Jam really took advantage of that. Unlike most of the artists who are "hot"..."popular"...etc, I think Rihanna is very talented and STILL makes good music. I almost wish this album would flop, Def Jam would drop her and she could start fresh on a real label where she could go back to being what I feel is herself. That flashy, gothy, cybery, bad hair/make up, pop-chart ready just dosen't stand up against the artist she was when she was coming out.

The Strength of Will Smith’s Knowledge

I like this video. There has been so many more things he's said that could have been added onto this. I had 2 put this on my Facebook when you shared this last night. -

I'm pretty much in the same boat as Ted. Ja-Rule, Nelly, alot of rappers of their time where pretty phoney or common to me tho' they each have a couple songs I like on the commercial front for what it was worth. I will never give them true props for their music overall but when you compare it to the current stuff, they are definitely better...haha.

Ah, that article is STUPID. This is a performance/documentary...NOT A MOVIE. It would be the perfect holiday release. Grrrrrr.............
-
On a barely related note, has anyone seen the new Chris Brown album cover. It is the stupidest most ridiculous album cover I've ever seen. Even if it's a joke, there is no excuse for it.
-
Very cool. In the past I've always considered buying a plaq but sometimes they are way overpriced and some of them are fake. This definitely is the real deal tho.' I have no idea who that person is. There name doesn't stand out as something I've seen in the credits.

Roxanne Shante Reveals Breast Cancer Battle Posted Nov 2nd 2009 7:15PM by BoomBox StaffComments [15]Print | Email More On the heels of debunked claims that her record label paid for her college education, veteran rapper Roxanne Shante is revealing that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The 40-year-old first noticed a lump in her breast earlier this year, but did nothing about it for months. "In March, I noticed a lump in my left breast, rather small at the time and didn't really know what I was feeling," she said in an interview with AOL's Black Voices. "So instead of going straight to the doctor's office, I started asking friends their opinion and trying to go by their experiences. It was such a stupid move. Well, I figured I was just getting older. A hysterectomy in my early thirties led me to believe that I would be fine. Another stupid move." Shante goes on to say that she was in denial at first, and lost 40 lbs before finally going back to the doctor in August. She had a mammogram done and later received an urgent letter from the lab. She was told that the lump was indeed cancerous. "I felt all eyes were on me to tell women how important it is for them to get checked. It is only by the grace of God that I have been able to survive." The '80s rapper also used the interview as an opportunity to inadvertently address allegations that she lied about having her former record label, Warner Music, pay for her education. "Do I apologize? Yes, I do. But I am not asking for your forgiveness," she said. "I am sorry about a lot of things that I should've done differently. There were quite a few things that have been exposed with that article; the fact that I never received any royalties, the fact that I did go on to attend college (even if no Ph.D. was acquired), and the fact that at 14 years old and coming straight from the group home, I went on to create a career that even after 20 years of not making a hit record, was still pulling headlines. "To be called Dr. Roxanne Shante was, and is, a privilege. But with that privilege comes pressure. I also had to live and talk like someone with a doctorate -- not an easy task at all. I had to make sure that people felt healed and inspired after speaking with me. So, yes, I apologize to all those who applied themselves and put in all the hard work that is required to acquire a Ph.D. I admire you all. But don't discredit all the hard work and sacrifices so many others have also done to also reach their goals." Unfortunately this latest story has been met with some skepticism, as some are unsure if she isn't merely looking for more publicity. As a teen Shante, born Lolita Shante Gooden, gained popularity for breaking into the male dominated industry. Her most noted songs was the dis record 'Roxanne's Revenge,' in which she responded to rap group U.T.F.O.'s song 'Roxanne Roxanne.' Shante is also the founding member of the group Juice Crew. She released two albums 'Bad Sister,' in 1989 and 'The Bitch Is Back' in 1992 before stepping out of the spotlight.
