I like almost half of these songs...ha ha....here's the list... Worst Songs of the 2000s Posted by Spinner Staff Comments (10) Print | Email More Best-of-an-era lists are always super-subjective: One judge's American Idol might be another's 'American Idiot.' But getting a majority to agree on the worst songs of the past decade should be a safer proposition. Can we assume we've all been aggravated to the point of self-injury by at least a few of the songs that follow? We thought so. 50. 'You're Beautiful,' James Blunt (2004) Voted the most irritating song of all time in a British newspaper poll. By the same people who gave us Mr. Blunt in the first place. 49. 'Rockstar,' Nickelback (2005) The band followed up its blockbuster 'How You Remind Me' with a rash of hits, none of which gave us quite the rash of this faux-cowboy anthem. 48. 'Warrior,' Kid Rock (2008) If we plug our ears, does that mean we don't support the troops? 47. 'Gasolina,' Daddy Yankee (2004) Pay at the pump. Do not top off. 46. 'Kryptonite,' 3 Doors Down (2000) It's named, of course, for Superman's weakness. That's assuming the band has strengths. 45. 'Numb,' Linkin Park (2003) "Can't you see that you're smothering me?" Chester asks. Hey, it's a two-way street. 44. 'La La,' Ashlee Simpson (2005) Infamously, the pop star's next single after her 'SNL' lip-syncing meltdown. Should we be surprised it tanked? 43. 'Hollaback Girl,' Gwen Stefani (2005) Dissed as a "cheerleader," Gwen chose the high road, poking fun at herself with this pom-pom anthem. Personally, we're partial to Toni Basil. 42. 'I Kissed a Girl,' Katy Perry (2008) California voters reversed the right to same-sex marriage the year this song was released. Coincidence? 41. 'The Reason,' Hoobastank (2003) Ballads and ridiculous band names haven't been this egregiously linked since the Butthole Surfers' 'The Ballad of Naked Man.' 40. 'Bad Day,' Daniel Powter (2005) Covered by Alvin and the Chipmunks, who did it better. 39. 'Butterfly,' Crazy Town (2001) "I'll make your legs shake": Are they pulling our leg? 38. 'Laffy Taffy,' D4L (2005) Kiddie candy hasn't been so inappropriately raunchy since Blow Pops and Atomic Fireballs. 37. 'I Am a Gummy Bear (The Gummy Bear Song),' Gummibar (2007) Please tell us this one isn't X-rated, too. 36. 'Milkshake,' Kelis (2003) Seriously, what's next? Now they're going to tell us there's something kinky about cotton candy. 35. 'Fergalicious,' Fergie (2006) Fergie appears elsewhere on our list with the Black Eyed Peas, making her our sole repeat offender. Not that she's the only one who annoyed us twice. 34. 'Blue (Da Ba Dee),' Eiffel 65 (2000) Do I look green to you? 33. 'She Bangs,' Ricky Martin (2000) William Hung covered it. They make a nice couple. 32. 'Stars Are Blind,' Paris Hilton (2006) Apparently deaf, too. 31. 'Wrestlers,' Hot Chip (2008) A wan electropop ditty that depicts a domestic dispute in terms of pro wrestling. "Don't hit me with the chair": Only if you put this song down for the count. 30. 'American Life,' Madonna (2003) With its military theme on the eve of the Iraq War, Madonna pulled her own video from circulation. Madonna, self-censoring: That's not the America we know and love. 29. 'Forever,' Chris Brown (2008) Rihanna clearly has a different point of view on this one. 28. 'I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman,' Britney Spears (2001) The waffling was killing us. 27. 'PopoZao,' Kevin Federline (2006) The unwanted pop star should have taken a new nickname: Force-Fed. 26. 'It Wasn't Me,' Shaggy (2000) Kicking off an unaccountable decade with an immortal pop denial: "It wasn't me." 25. 'Because I Got High,' Afroman (2001) He fails in school, defaults on child support and gambles his car payment 'Because I Got High': Why not try singing 'It Wasn't Me'? 24. 'Come On Over,' Jessica Simpson (2008) The erstwhile Yoko Romo didn't deserve the nickname. Yoko's a better singer. 23. 'What's Left of Me,' Nick Lachey (2006) Like the Tin Man, or the Devil in 'Little Nicky,' he's falling apart, literally. 22. 'Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,' Toby Keith (2002) When the eagle took flight in this collision of patriotic clichés, we yearned for John Ashcroft's singing career. 21. 'God Bless the USA,' Lee Greenwood (2001 reissue) Technically a 1984 release, we'll make room for this singularly shmaltzy tune since it kept coming back to life, like a zombie. 20. 'All the Things She Said,' Tatu (2002) When these Russian pop chicks revealed they're not really lesbian lovers, both of their fans demanded refunds. 19. 'Just the Girl,' Click Five (2005) Proving that even a Berklee College of Music education doesn't ensure good taste. 18. 'Do I Make You Proud,' Taylor Hicks (2006) What are we, your mother? 17. 'The Way I Are,' Timbaland feat. DOE and Keri Hilson (2007) Suffice to say, we am not big fans. 16. 'Party Like a Rock Star,' Shop Boyz (2007) Without picking up an actual guitar or drum stick. 15. 'This Is Why I'm Hot,' Mims (2007) Because Moms made you wear a sweater? 14. 'Cupid's Chokehold,' Gym Class Heroes feat. Patrick Stump (2006) When the hook is Supertramp, hip hop may in fact be dead. 13. 'Come Clean,' Hilary Duff (2003) We had no idea she was dirty. 12. 'The Bad Touch,' Bloodhound Gang (2000) "I want you smothered, want you covered like my Waffle House hash browns." And to think, breakfast used to be our favorite meal. 11. 'Lips of an Angel,' Hinder (2005) So sweet, so tender, so – dude, you're blocking my view! 10. 'My Way,' Limp Bizkit (2000) No, not the Sinatra classic. Fred Durst sings. Ol' Blue Eyes would have knocked the cap off his head. 9. 'Don't Stop Movin',' S Club 7 (2001) Masterminded by Simon Fuller. The Spice Girls just weren't empty enough. 8. 'Gotta Get Thru This,' Daniel Bedingfield (2002) The apex, and nadir, of UK garage. 7. 'F--- It (I Don't Want You Back),' Eamon (2003) In the Guinness Book for most expletives in a No. 1 song. That dubious achievement will be surpassed by a recording of someone's reaction to hearing this song. 6. 'Lonely,' Akon (2005) Did anybody ask poor Bobby Vinton how he felt about having his voice processed to chipmunk speed? Hey, we're sure he's cashing the checks. 5. 'Axel F,' Crazy Frog (2004) The original animated Crazy Frog was introduced as the Annoying Thing. Then it remade one of the most annoying songs of the '80s. 4. 'Thong Song,' Sisqo (2000) Who says romance is dead? 3. 'Who Let the Dogs Out,' Baha Men (2000) Before this obnoxious woofer, this group played a legitimate Bahamian music known as junkanoo. 'Dogs' was just plain junk. 2. 'My Humps,' Black Eyed Peas (2005) Camels ... sexy. 1. 'Trapped in the Closet,' R. Kelly (2005) You gotta aim high to stoop this low. Our pick for worst song of the decade is an epic, ongoing saga, a mini-movie of betrayal, infidelity, disloyalty, cheatin', some old Popeye's chicken and a spatula. Plus a midget. We all thought the story was weird when the R. Kelly sex tapes came out. As it turns out, no story is weirder than the one unspooling inside the man's head.

Brad + Devin of LFO started a Trip-Hop side group called The Xiles. The link should take you to their 2-track Christmas EP. I don't know that anyone on this board would really be into them but the 2nd song "Hip Hop Reindeers" mentioned Will Smith. He's brifely mentioned in the hook. Definitely a different kind of song...ha ha. http://xiles.bandcamp.com/

Yeah, I really hope his next project that comes out has the Fresh Prince thing. Nothing artsy or experimental.

Merry Christmas, peoples. :)

As long as he doesn't chose an average movie as his next, this will only set up a big comeback. I'm fine without a movie just knowing that music has been on his mind 2 some extent.
-
I saw Alvin + The Chipmunks (The Squeakqual) (which was the bomb!!!) and trailor was in the front. I must say, I'm not totally against the movie anymore. I don't know that I think it'll be on the level of the classic, but it looks like it'll be a good movie.

Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch 1991 MTV Rock'N'Jock B-Ball Jam
JumpinJack AJ replied to Romano338's topic in Will Smith Movies
Ha ha...I've seen this many times...including when it was brand new and on TV. I still really want them 2 do a movie 2gether. -
I can't say I followed her closely but I really did like her. She seemed to always been in good spirits in interviews. I liked alot of movies she was in (Just Married, Happy Feet, Clueless, etc). I just bought a Brittany Murphy movie the other day that I'd never seen. R.I.P.

Favorite female hip hop/rap artist

Remy Ma is another one that i think is awful. I think that one of the female emcees that definitely deserves props is Da Brat. Her production has gotten weaker over the years, but in my opinion, she's one of the few female emcees that can hang with the fellas. She was darn near like Snoop's lil' sister when she came out. She can race a rhyme faster than most emcees and she's stayed true 2 herself over the years. -
Game Talks 2 Pac & Biggie Being Alive
JumpinJack AJ replied to SEALK's topic in Caught in the Middle
Good 2 hear from u SEALK...it's been awhile. I think Game is being a bit far fetched when it comes 2 alot of those statements. I think that if 2Pac was never killed, Hip-Hop would be in a whole other state. Certainly not this bad. -

I do agree that Lil' Kim has gotten better over the years. I still don't like her tho.' She came out all slutty. Then all the plastic surgery. I just can't take her serious. And her voice really annoys me. That's why I was confused with Foxy started trying to rhyme like her. She still had better production and subject matter but her voice and flow just got annoying. I love Erykah Badu's early stuff. She can rhyme also but her last 2 studio albums just weren't that good 2 me (especially her most recent). I have to respect her branching out, but at this rate, I won't be buying her albums anymore unless she takes steps back towards what her earlier work was like. When hearing some of Mary J. Blige's new stuff, I think some of it is really good...and then some of it is effected by the crap on the radio. When I heard Brandy rapping on Timbaland's new album under the name Bran' Nu, I was surprised as to how good she can rap. And with Left Eye's doctored album from last year "Eye Legacy," I hate that they twisted up song titles and gave her crap-production for the most part. Her family just needed 2 release Supernova as a special edition with unreleased stuff...not doctored to make it sound like the crap on the radio with a bunch of guest artists added on later. -
CD Baby is probably my favorite website when it comes 2 finding new music from new artists. Here's for links 2 check. If u claim to like Hip-Hop, check the 1st link. I found a real gem with those guys. The other 3 are R-N-B / Soul artists. I'm guessing that since they labeled "4,3,2,1" as the video version, it's the version without Canibus' verse?
-
I saw it in stores last week. Before seeing the title, I got really excited by the visual even tho' it was a pic from a few years ago. I flipped it over and was kinda disappointed in the tracklisting. I like that they included a few old tracks but i think it really should have picked up where the last one left off. I thought it was ridiculous that it didn't have Ain't Nobody, Father, Shut Em Down, Imagin That, Control Myself, etc. If there were gonna put Pink Cookies... on there they should have used the remix that they used in the video (which is much better than the album version). I am gonna get it but since it didn't have anything new or previously unreleased on it I let it stay on the shelf. Even if they did a megamix video or something, Def Jam should have promoted it. I'm sure we'll get a proper LL Cool J Greatest Hits album at some point. Both All Worlds are missing some tracks.

Favorite female hip hop/rap artist
JumpinJack AJ replied to fresh_from_sofia's topic in Caught in the Middle
My thoughts exactly. 1st off, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, etc shouldn't be on the list. Mary J. Blige is a Hip-Hop artist, but she's an R-N-B/Soul singer. I think it would be better to list the list only females emcees because it's weird to compare an emcee to a singer. I voted for Left Eye. She is one of the most creative writing styled wordsmiths in all of Hip-Hop (male or female). She changed her tone for every album. You could listen to an acappella unreleased verse by her and guess what year she recorded it by the way she rhymed. She could write the deepest, most heaviest rhymes on one song and writing something funny, hilarious, and crazy on the next song. Her light was blown out way to soon. Queen Latiah is probably the queen of all Hip-Hop though. Her ability to branch out and keep moving is amazing. She's always remained true to herself and open and honest with her fans. She could write and sing a sweet love song as well as hang lyrically beside the hardest of emcees. MC Lyte another legend. Her ability to stay true 2 herself thoughout the years while still expanding is amazing 2 me. She's another who could write something soft and sweet and then tear your head off in another verse. Yo Yo is a west coast legend. WIthout disrespecting her, she's kinda like the B-level Latifah. She has her rough side and her soft side. She can spit and sing on the same track and make it make sense. Salt -N-Pepa are legends. Salt has always been the more lyrically one but they are definitely at the top. Foxy Brown is ill too. I can't stand when she kinda tries to sound like Lil' Kim tho.' Her style was dope...but it went down hill kinda quickly. I'd like to see her get back in the zone and make better music. I picked up her last album but I'm not sure if I ever listened 2 it more that once. Her debut album is dope tho.' Her verse on LL's "I Shot Ya" is one of the dopest verses ever. Lauryn Hill is the last of my favorites. I just think she's amazing. Sadly, with the way she's acted and been so silent over the years, it makes u wonder if she was only ever in the zone from 1993 to 2000. There's no excuse to wait over 10 years to put 2gether another studio album. The last verse I remember from her was on Joss Stone's last official album from a couple years back. Her verse was dope but why nothing else? I think the worst female rappers of all time are Amil and Lil' Kim. -
Timbaland Says He's Done With Hip Hop
JumpinJack AJ replied to VIsqo's topic in Caught in the Middle
Timbaland said he was only gonna make beats for his personal friends in the industry a few years back (2002ish). He said he loves music but he was sick of the commercialism and sick of wishing he gave some of his best beats 2 artists who were his close friends. WIthin years that turned arouond and his popularity was in fire again after a short dry spell. He's not a singer so he's always going to rap. I guess he's just saying he's not gonna make straight Hip-Hop music. I remember when Under Construction II came out, I was surprised because I didn't even know he's was working on another Timbaland + Magoo album. I was surprised that Magoo wasn't on this new album at all. Music isn't going to stay like this. It's always evolving and Timbaland has always adjusted 2 the times which is why he's still around and going strong. It's only a mater of time until he comes full circle. And the dirty south's hold on commercial Rap is a main factor in everything sucking. Generally speaking, dirty south/crunk commercial Rap is ridiculous. The production is usually minimalistic trash. The quality lyrics and subject matter are non-existant. You can't even take them seriously as people because half of them dress and carry themselves as total fools. And lastly, they go out of their way to speak in a way that makes it sound like they never took and english class in their life. I mean, can any understand what Lil' Wayne, The Ying Yang Twins, etc are actually saying? They sound like they have a speech impediment. -
Timbaland Says He's Done With Hip Hop
JumpinJack AJ replied to VIsqo's topic in Caught in the Middle
Ahhh...business wise and commercially, this is a good idea. What's is the popular face of Rap and Hip-Hop...it's certainly not real Hip-Hop. It's easy 2 see why so many legends are recording less. I got Timbaland's new album and I like it alot better than his last. Though none of his 2005-plus stuff has ever been as dope as his stuff from the 90's and early 2000's. I don't think alot of Hip-Hop heads or commercial Rap fans gave him much of a chance. I love all of the Timbaland + Magoo albums plus his 1st solo album. They are amoungst my favs. His old school sensibility in his lyrics and subject matter is also something I loved. I see where he's coming from. Commercial Rap (the mainstream face of Hip-Hop music) is trash. The artists are trash. And not many people from any specturm of the Hip-Hop fanbase ever gave him love (only as a producer...not an emcee or artist). These days music is all about trends and what's going 2 sell 2 people who don't demand much from artists. The females who are loving music for the good-time vibe are supporting his stuff so he's going 2 cater 2 the people who are appriciateing him. I only listened 2 the new album all the way thru' once but I do like it. I hate missing the old sound and the old formula of music. I'd like 2 have him team up with Magoo again for Hip-Hop albums and then do these mainstream albums for his solo ones. We'll see what happens. -
Beginning of Summertime Instrumental ?
JumpinJack AJ replied to Romano338's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Kool & The Gang's "Summer Madness." U shouldn't have any problem finding the song...it's a classic. -
I heard about this the other day. I'm excited for him. He's been doing well for himself for awhile now but this will probably be big for him. Recently I've been on a MC Hammer kick. I even found on old MC Hammer on VHS that i've wanted since I was 10.

Anything really. Let's be honest. At this point, the page is just stupid. It's not doing anything. No spike in people joining. No pix, news, videos or anything being added to make anyone ever wanna visit it again. Am I the only one that feels this way? If there's a rumor that he's recording, let's post.

ROSARIO DAWSON - Without You RENT Movie Soundtrack (2005) Love this song....love Rent...Love Rosario Dawson...
-
Back on topic...the group is kind of a joke. We need 2 breathe life in2 that thing. We need 2 give people a reason 2 go there from time 2 time. We need 2 spike the amount of people joining. Anyone else agree and willing 2 participate?
