Sometimes hooks are just meant to be catchy so people remember the song. Look at "Switch".. Sometimes? Hooks are the most repetitive, gimmick-hopeful, small collection of words in rap songs right now. You say Switch, but even Switch has more variety in the hook than most of the crap out now (and really, it doesn't have that much- which says a lot). Switch is a dance song, so are basically all the lame-hook singles being pumped out today. The difference is Switch does it better. Will isn't just saying "Switch" over and over. He says something and let's the dance beat do its thing. Of course hooks are there so people can remember the songs but the songs coming out today are such an insult to the audience's intelligence if they don't think people can remember more than 1 line anymore. These 4 word hooks have another strike against them: they're boring. Would you like the same sentence (that isn't even a full sentence) replaying in your head all day? I wouldn't. That's why I can't stand most of the songs my friends are listening to. But I think we're supposed to be talking about Kanye or George Bush or something... God Blessa!

It's gotten to the point where I've got at least SOME got respect for any rap song that's hook isn't the repetition of 1-3 words. SAD. God Blessa!

I just wrote one of those blogs on myspace. I used swearing and I don't even like swearing. It's like the lame version of punching someone. Instead of doing it you just say "**** you!" Pretty lame. Not the blog though, that's probably fantastic. God Blessa!

I know a girl very close to me. I call her my girlfriend (probably because she is). Anyway, her sister is getting married soon. She's gonna be going to her bachelorette party eventually. Now before I continue, let's run through our history really quick- I am amazing. 1987-present. All that needs to be said. So, with that knowledge let's look into what goes on at parties like this: some dirty shoooooot- some dirty stuff that you would never let fly if you didn't know you were just doing the same stuff at your own party. Strippers, sex toys, all that. Now, I'm a cool dude (as you know). I can dig it... as long as it's fair play. Eye for an eye. But it won't be a level playing field. She'll be at the party and I'll be on message board complaining about how people use their time better than me. I don't know the guy her sister's marrying, I won't be at his party. THERE IS SOMETHING FOUL IN THE AIR. See, she's hundreds of miles away from me for the summer. It is disheartening to be a jealous guy while this sort of fun is going on without you. I have thought of a way to balance things out. I could throw my own bachelor party. I'll put little paper hats on my cats and dogs and throw confetti at midnight. Stripping in front of the mirror, while a great thing in its own right, is not so satisfying when you know some dumb guy with a big smile will be doing it in front of your girl. REMEMBER- this would all be slightly more copeable had I been going to a party of equal or greater nature. You would not be reading this great thread. I'm going to do some push-ups. God Blessa!

College has really screwed up my mental clock. I'm still not getting to bed until 3-4 am. That would be cool if I was still hanging with the same people that kept me up. Instead I'm up reading hip hop articles and interviews (which, by the way, are a real headache after so much reading about beef between two wack rappers) and playing that stupid Desktop Tower game posted MONTHS ago. Life could be better. It's my fault really, I spend too much time on message boards. I'm very productive at other times, I'm exercising like a mad man and doing house work of all kinds. I'm looking and applying for a new job but haven't got a call back yet. I am angry at Brakes for being almost as cool as I say I am. I started writing a new song today but only got two bars in. I mostly just post in Caught in the Middle because Will is sadistic when it comes to his music fans. My girl was/is supposed to call me tonight and she hasn't and now I'm about to make another thread sort of relating to that. See ya there! God Blessa!

I don't see why not, really. What has you questioning it? I saw this a few days ago. It's really not that deep but it seems like the public is rejecting any rap single that doesn't have a one-word hook repeated over and over. I hope for this reason alone that the song gets recognition. Can't Tell Me Nothing doesn't seem to have done too well, this new single came out fast. God Blessa!
