  1. Y'all can't be seriuous, if it is something that is putting L&F down it is the beats. They aint so good. if u can't dance beat is jacked from timbo, loretta sounds like something kanye would do, kicks and snares on lost and found are to weak. but as i said, L&F got something that Be doesn't, thats energy and rawness. Be is more of a chillout album, L&F is a more of a get hyped album. Any real music critic witch any sense of objectivity would say common's album is better. not much at all, but a little.
  2. Well the dude saying Mike Jones's sorry excuse for an album is top 5 made me shut down the window. THe funny thing is that the new common album ain't finished. i got the advance copy to, it's 11 songs. Common said that there will be more songs on the final copy. BUT. that doesn't stop me from saying it's better then lost and found. Lost and found is really good but it has it's downfalls like could you love me, switch and if u can't dance. Common's album is straigh fire. Alot of songs doesn't reac up to tell me why or lost and found level, but there is a couple of songs that do, and the rest of the songs are just below them. That makes is more balanced and solid. Dont take this as an diss, cause being just behing commons second best album of all time shows how good lost and found is. I would say: Common - BE = 4,9 mics. (need to here the final songs to make an decision if it reallys is 5 mics) Will smith - lost and found = 4,2 mics (with three-four songs less this would be an classic.)
  3. the reason is that born 2 reign was probally in its last days of production when 9/11 happened, adn it will take time to write the song, recurit mjb, record the song, and put it on the album. 4 years isn't really that long when you think about it. Paul McCartney managed to get "Freedom" on his "Driving Rain" album, and that was released on November 13, 2001. So yawn to your explaination. homie... why should he even do a song like that? is it a "have to do" thing or what? besides, it ain't even a 9/11 song. idiiot.
  4. partystarter. pump ya breakz and fourth. and then maybe lost and found if it's still going
  5. cool that it's selling more then fatih evans, beanie and 112
  6. anyone got the new figures? should be popping up real soon right?
  7. don't think he means that they'öö pop up and be like: heey! think he means that they would surprise people with the whole concept of doing smaller shows. no promoter does his business like that. ofcourse there will be promotion
  8. In sweden it's 60k - platinum, 30k - gold. It's logics that UK don't have the same as U.S.
  9. Yeah fugees were huge. Lauryn hill is one of the best female mc's/singers out there.
  10. I'ma tell the truth. It was at a celibrity guest thingy. Will was over here promoting MIB2 and born to reign. he did a couple of songs over here. Later that night there was this party going on, accidently Wyclef was in town the same day doing his thing. Well me and 3 girls 2 other guys had won this competition on a radiostation called NRJ. You won a ticket to the premiere of mib2 and u got to go to this party. It was fun, i really don't like swedish celebritys, they put this act on whenever someone famous comes in town. So I got to "meet" Will, we said hi and we got to shake his hand. and that was it. they were mingleling and so. So we were all surprised when wyclef and will went up on the stage and had this battle going on, it was a playful battle. nothing serious, remember people liking will better though =). And yeah, I got to meet the swedish princess!
  11. hahaha... vem sa det? I know that guy. really well. y'all dudes from the willsmith.net period remember who that guy is..
  12. it could be a fake age. i knwo alto of dudes that go by fake ages on the internet
  13. As i said... sales over 40k in the near couple of weeks is okay. But he had bad luck that he dropped so much in the chart though. O hoped he would do over 50 k this week 2. If he drops under 40k next week i see no future in it going platnium
  14. I don't give a **** if KRS album was more provoking then Kanyes. The album still isn't better then TCD. Netiher beats, rhymes or style is better. Kanye have his own style. Come on, what resemblence do you find between him and common? Common has an entirely different flow and rhymestyle. Kanye has more of an playful, singing flow. Common has a more strait up hiphopflow even though he has his thing with articulating every word, which makes me think of the last poet & spoken word. and NO NO NO ... kanye got signed as a producer. BUT then he got in as a rapper too, HE HAS ALWAYS rapped. from the days when he was a scholar of d-dot. It just didn't get thorught and develop until he got a deal as a rapper to at roc-a-fella. You can't say people should stick to what they started as.. that's just pathetic, listen to yourself. If someones good at something, then they should go on with their dream. if i got it right.. Will was a dj at first. Will then became a rapper AND actor. did he do wrong? NO, cuz he can both act and rap. All Falls Down is weak? Jesus Walks? Homie get ya **** strait. Those are some of the best songs ever written since we went into a new millenium. COmmon is one of the pioneers of the style he represents yes, so ain't it good he gets that throught and gets airplay with the new cd with help from kanye? Or should he just stay under the publics eye, something he would if the album wouldn't been produced by kanye. If we're talking overrated, then what the hell is nas? Illmatic is dope, Then it's all pure 100% **** until street disciple which is an okey album, but could have been really dope if it was one cd instead. Could have been a new classic or atleast an album you'd remember. Same with the blueprint 2 which had way to much songs. Without kanye there wouldn't be no Talib fame, no common - Be, no mos def shine, no jay-z - the blueprint, no jay-z the black album, no COLLEGE DROPUT whoch was an REALLY IMPORTANT album in a time where everything is 50 cent and g-unit,
  15. I didn't know which of your essays to qoute so I just picked one for my reply =) The thing with KRS is that he's fallen off. He did set standards, no arguing with that. But now, he can't anymore. Cuz cats is getting better. His flow is still sick and his lyrics no doubt good. But I can right now, drop 2 songs of COllege Dropout that is better then anything he's done. All Falls Down: "Shw couldn't afford a car, so she named her daugher alexis (a lexus)." That's like one of the best punchline's since big l started the punchline era for real. not only is it a winderful punchline but meaningful. So is the rest of the song. every single bar of that song is strait fiya. and measuring with todays standards, and the things krs drops now... it's better then krs newer things. And who said you gotta be a battle mc to be certified as a good rapper? that's like saying fp gotta kill to get street cred. in that case eminem should be one of the best rappers ever done it cuz (no i aint' talking about 8 mile) he was a world champion a couple of times long before he blew up. I probably gonna stop arguing about the jigga thing... I took notice that you're a NAS fan... discussions between nas and jay-z fans could probably go on forever.
  16. Common's "BE" is that dope, better than "Lost and Found"? I didn't even know it came out yet, "Resurrection" which is his best album shouldn't even be in the top 10. Doing a top 10 is hard but I think most of the great albums, if not all, came out in the golden age of hip-hop(late '80s/early '90s) 'cause they set the standard for hip-hop today, this is the "Dark Ages" of hip-hop, today's standards are wack(money, hoes, and cars, no subject matter) none of these albums you listed except "Illmatic" or "The Chronic", "Lost and Found" is probably the best album this decade on any level of hip-hop, should be in the top 10 considerably My top 10 would be this: Public Enemy "It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back" Run-Dmc "Raising Hell" Eric B. and Rakim "Paid In Full" LL Cool J "Mama Said Knock You Out" Slick Rick "The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick" BDP "Criminal Minded" NWA "Straight Outta Compton" 2Pac "All Eyez On Me" Nas "Illmatic" Will Smith "Big Willie Style"(Since It Ain't JJFP) Doing a top 10 song list is even harder but I'd say: 1-Grandmaster Flash and Furious Five "The Message" 2-BDP "Love's Gonna Get Ya" 3-Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick "The Show" 4-Public Enemy "Don't Believe The Hype" 5-Nas "The World Is Yours" 6-LL Cool J "Jack The Ripper" 7-KRS-ONE "Step Into A World"(Rapture's Delight) 8-2Pac "Keep Ya Head Up" 9-Will Smith Feat. Mary J. Blidge "Tell Me Why" 10-Tribe Called Quest Feat. Leaders Of New School "Scenerio" Damn it's hard to do these lists without mentioning "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" and "Code Red" albums and "Summertime" and "Brand New Funk" tracks, those were all time greats in my opinion. Trust me, when you hear BE, you gonna blow off! We obvously got different taste in music. I mean, i like almost all of the albums you listed, but not in a top ten in my list. maybe like a top 20.
  17. Yeah.. it makes me wanna chill someplace warm and chill. You could relate to it like maybe once every summer in sweden. but yeah... would be really cool to expirience that.
  18. Well we shoulnd't even mention 50 cent... he's incerdibly untalented. But like Common's flow. It's incredible how he really brings out every word of a song and still make it ride the beat. The Summertime beat is incredible, and as i said, if we are bringing in JJFP in these list the would be all over the place.. Summertime is the perfect song actually. perfection.
  19. I would say Pump ya breaks now actually. It's not a club songs or deep song. but something to vibe with. It's not good releasing two club singles after eachother.
  20. I like these discussions, cause i really respect the old school cats, without them we wouldn't have alot of talented rappers today. Without run dmc, no will smith without rakim, no nas. etc. The thing is that KRS-One is a really dope emcee. BUT, he was doper when he was a pioneer. he ain't anymore. Todays pioneers ARE kanye west and jay-z. THEY ARE, accept that. Kanye changed the whole sound of hiphop, jay-z made people continue to rap like biggie and spit knowledge. And it doesn't mattwr how much the old schol cats inspried the new ones to rap. Cuz some day the scholars are goint to get better then the teachers. I haven't given up on Rakim, cuz i heard he's gotta new album coming out soon. These lists change. For 4 years ago i would definetly have put KRS, Ice Cube & PublicEnemy on my list. BUT THE CAN't MATCH THE NEW EMCEES. Lyrically, talking about syllables, flow on syllables, words and meaning. Kanye IS now better then KRS. TalibKweli i would go as far as say that he may be the most skilled lyrically. You even heard Get By? Those lyrics are probably the best ever, syllable, meaning and passion. Jay-Z's flow is ridicolous, he is the best on the planet on flowing. Right next to him on that is Rakim, KRS and Common. --- I never called will a sell out, I said that if people call jay-z a sell out then they should do the same to will. Then i said that they've both said that they have dumbed down. in order to success in the business. Jay-z never said i controlled the streets after the in my lifetime albums. And what's wrong, with a dude telling his life story? If will is talking about loretta or the haters, then jay-z can talk about how he sold crack. zhe did as a way to survive, he was rich before he let reasonable doubt out, cuz Roc-a-fella is built on 40% drug money. You just don't start a label and put RnB's queen Mary on your first single without having the money. So if u gat money then u can't talk about your past? That just sounds stupid.. We choose what we rap about. And boy, I know the lyrics for don't say nothing, without needing to read it. I've been down with jjfp since as long as i can remember, i grew up listening to it. ----- If we is gonna idolize the old cats for all time, then who will bring hiphop further? It IS Talib now, IT IS COMMON, It IS Kanye.
  21. Actuaally alot of old school is overrated, it was good at it's time, but compared to todays standards, it's wack. Like grandmaster flash & the furious five. U can't' compare theyr skills with any emcee right now. And this was only albums and songs. I don't think neither Snoop, BIG or 2 pac has made songs or albums that could be compared with these. ofcourse they make really dope tracks, but that's like in the top 20 or 30.
  22. I would say that my top ten would be: Albums: 1. Jay-z - Reasonable Doubt 2. Common - Like whater for chocolate 3. Nas - Illmatic 4. Jay-Z - The Black Album 5. Talib Kweli - Quality 6. Kanye West - College Dropout 7. Common - BE 8. Will Smith - Lost And Found. 9. Mos Def - Black on botch sides 10. Dr Dre - The chronic Songs: well if this was jjfp i would say summertime at number one but it's only will's solo work i'd say: 1. Jay-z - D'evils 2. Will Smith - Tell me why 3. Talib Kweli - Get By 4. Common - Heat 5. Kanye West - Jesus Walks 6. Will Smith - Lost And found 7. Jay-z - Dirt off your shoulder 8. Nas - The World is yours. 9. Talib Kweli - Talk to you 10. Common & Kanye West - Go
  23. And now if we is dissin jay-z for seelin out.. then what the hell was Big Willie Style? "i dumbed down for my audience to make a couple of dollars" Moment Of clarity 2003 "but will if u come to high, that'll alienate people" partystarter 2005. Both are even saying that it was necessary for them to survive in the industry. Then they dropped their best (or in jay-z's case: one of the best) solo albums. The Black Album is 100% quality. It's raw, pure, good. Lost And found is the same.
  24. SKILLS: 1. Jay-Z 2. Common 3. Talib Kweli 4. Biggie 5. 2pac 6. Nas 7. Rakim 8. Kanye West 9. q-tip 10. Mos Def 11. Will Smith Overall & Me liking: 1. Jay-Z 2. Kanye West 3.Talib Kweli 4. Common 5. Will Smith
  25. Your living in dream land with them dates mate. Tell ME Why shud hit radio and TV by the end of May hopefully, maybe June. Then the single be released in July. Its only 2 months and summer is well and truly here I ain't saying what i think is gonna happen, but what i want to happen. And studying economics and marketing AND being in showbiz, it's not a good play releasing a single in the beginning of march and then waiting 'til July for the sequel. Most of the albums and artists being promoted like that end up like one hit wonders or with a weak single and sale. That's why u gotta have variety between the singles and releasing them within 2 month gaps. or atleast radio releases. That's why i'm saying that tell me wh should be radioreleased within the next week, or within the two next weeks. Switch has done it's part. it doesn't need more promotion it's going for itself now. They should start leaking it to the radio by now, and then do massive promotion in may, and then release it. As i see it, both will and his fans see tell me why as the big hit of the album. the one keepin it up in sales.
