  1. http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features...2?currentPage=2 It's an article about the upcoming Indiana Jones IV, but has this little info... "My glance strays to a side table, where headshots of actors under consideration for his likely next directing project, Chicago 7—about the conspiracy trial that grew out of protests at the 1968 Democratic convention—lie on the surface. Among them I spy Will Smith, Taye Diggs, Adam Arkin, and Kevin Spacey; Sacha Baron Cohen (as Abbie Hoffman) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (as William Kunstler) are also linked to the project, which has a screenplay by Aaron Sorkin. (It should be noted here that Chicago 7 will be partly based on Chicago 10, a new documentary produced by Graydon Carter, Vanity Fair’s editor, and Brett Morgen, the film’s director.) After Chicago 7, Spielberg will probably go on to direct Lincoln, with Liam Neeson in the title role." Will should do this!! He's the biggest star in the world and needs to work with bigger named directors! They don't get any bigger than Spielberg!
  2. I don't know. I still think he needs to do a few more serious movies in order to get a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. I mean, Kermit just barely has one, and look at all the work he's had to put in. Will's still not there yet. 4.4 billion in movie grosses is nice, oscar nominations, great... but he's still not that highly considered... :sipread: Do you know who is on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Yes, there's great actors, but also people like Tim Allen, Matthew Broderick, Angela Bassett, John Goodman, ect. People who aren't nearly as famous as Will. Jamie Foxx and P Diddy are scheduled for next year. It's not nearly that special anymore to be on it.
  3. It was better than I thought it would be. The people out there really ripping in to it, are ridculous. There is way worse movies out there. This is Will's best performance ever. He was really powerful. The creatures weren't as bad as I was expecting, upclose they don't look to bad. The ending is weak and feels rushed, but up to the last 20 minutes the movie was really good. I don't know how good its gonna do though. It will open real well, but I have to admit alot of people in my theater were bitchin about the movie. I think people are expecting a slam-bam action movie with cool scifi violence. It's not that...it's got alot slow moments and takes time to let Will emote about the situation around him. I think it's more a intelligent scfi-action movie till the last 15-20 mins.
  4. http://www.reeltalktv.com/2007/12/i_am_nominated.php#more Just saw “I Am Legend” with Will smith. It blew me away. I was thinking, oh no, not another rampaging infected maniac movie (after “28 Weeks Later” and “30 Days of Night”). However this is different. It’s about one man’s quest to survive and find a cure for mankind. And for anyone who lives in Manhattan, it will especially hit home, because the production design is extraordinary. Seems to me that Will Smith should get an Oscar nomination. I know it’s a tough year with Russell Crowe, Denzel Washington, Frank Langella, Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson all gunning for the honor. But if Tom Hanks got nominated for talking to a volleyball for two hours then Smith should be a shoe-in for hanging out with his dog for a lean, tense 100 minutes. Which got me thinking, if Smith is nominated for “I Am Legend,” Denzel for “American Gangster,” Don Cheadle for “Talk To Me,” and Morgan Freeman for “The Bucket List,” we will see four African Americans on the Best Actor ballot -- surely a first. What do you think? Is "I Am Legend" Smith's chance for an Oscar win this season? This would be his 3rd nomination.
  5. While it's good that we're getting postive reviews now, the reviews aren't exactly glowing. Pretty much every review good or bad has ripped the cgi creatures. That should of been the one given for the movie. You think after movies like Lord of the Rings and the Matrix, the cgi would of been fine. I mean Warner Bros. is spending all this money and it's there big holiday movie, make sure the special effects are good. Also, alot of reviews don't like the ending, which is the most important part of a movie. Still it's great to hear that Will has given a great performance.
  6. I agree with Mr. K, and it's not just the coming soon review, but others that are saying the same thing. It's disappointing becuase I was really looking forward to this movie, but not every movie is gonna be great or even good everytime out. Every actor is gonna have a bad one here and there. It just sucks that this appears to be one of them, because the novel is great. There is such potential to make a great movie. I want to whole heartly second the notion that Will needs to get away from Akiva Goldsman. The guy is crap!
  7. There's a negative one at aint it cool news, but it is poorly written and tells you very little. Here's a positive one I found: http://moviereviewfaqs.blogspot.com/2007/11/i-am-legend.html Q: What’s the movie about? A: A brilliant scientist – Robert Neville (Will Smith) is possibly the last human left on earth after a man-made virus seemingly wipes out the world’s population. For the next 3 years, Neville sends out daily radio messages in search of other survivors. But mutant victims of the plague – The Infected – lurk in the shadows (unable to be in the light) waiting to prey on Neville as he tries to reverse the effects of the virus by using his own immune blood. Q: Who’s in the movie? A: Will Smith, Alice Braga, Charlie Tahan, and one very well-trained (and emotive) German Shepherd. (There’s also an unexpected cameo in the first 5 minutes, so make sure you don’t miss the beginning.) Q: Is this movie worth the price of admission? A: Go! Let’s face it, you’re seeing I Am Legend because we haven’t had a Will Smith actioner since 2004’s, I Robot, and the good news is both he and the movie are better this time. I Am Legend delivers the goods on suspense and action, and it cuts the surface to go a bit deeper and make you think (albeit not as much as it could have). I did not read the popular Richard Matheson novel the film was based on, so I can’t comment on the translation to screen, but if you’re looking for some year-end action/thriller entertainment, this one will most likely satisfy. Q: Will this movie make me laugh? A: There are a few clever jokes with the use of mannequins, and some visual funny related to the not-to-distant future (keep an eye on the NY-billboards and gas prices), but overall this is no comedy. Q: Will this movie make me cry? A: There are some touching and emotional moments that might get to a select few people. Mostly thanks to Smith, these moment come off a little more ‘real’ than in most action films. Q: Will this movie be up for any awards? A: This isn’t the type of movie that usually garners Academy Award recognition outside of the visual effects and technical categories, but if dogs were eligible for Best Supporting Actor, we might have a contender. Q: How is the Acting? A: It’s pretty much Will Smith’s film from beginning to end considering he’s practically lonelier than Tom Hanks was with that volley-ball in Cast Away. With that said, Smith’s in fine form as the quintessential thinking-man’s action hero. Not only is he tremendously charismatic and fully buff – he also has to pull off the emotion that overcomes someone living with only himself for going on three years. There’s never a false moment in his performance and there are few actors who would be better in this type of role – maybe none. Alice Braga and Charlie Tahan as mother and son are also both good, but it’s still Will’s world. Q: How is the Directing? A: Francis Lawrence came from the world of music videos and his first feature was the 2005 Keanu Reeves film, Constantine. He handles this film with similar aplomb – the action sequences pop and the quieter moments work well too. He seems like an ‘action’ director trying to go a little deeper which is always a good thing. Q: How is the story/script? A: Completely serviceable and there are some nice surprises along the way. The script could have been dumbed down, but luckily it never feels as if it were. But one can’t help wish the psychology of the story (and characters) had gone a bit deeper for an even more satisfying ride since it deals with a catastrophe that could be all-to-real in the very near future
  8. I hate to say it, but I'm kinda disappointed with Will. I still think he is a great actor, but he always plays it safe. He's a huge star and if he wanted to keep the ending bleak, he could of. However, I think he's following what the studio thinks and wants to please a mass audience. I, Robot was the same way. Even Pursuit of Happyness was too schmaltzy. I liked the movie, but it should of been a harder look at homelessness and the society that created it. Where's all that talk about wanting to sneak a smart, indie movie in a big blockbuster? Maybe the movie wouldn't of made 200 million, but it would of earned praise as actually really good film that people talk about years later.
  9. Found this on some guy's blog... sounds like were getting a happy ending thanks to morans at a test screening. link: http://www.xanga.com/KidFallout/626035362/i-am-legend.html I Am Legend So contrary to my IMDBing to figure out which Will Smith flick it was, they wheren't filming Hancock down the road but it turns out to be an alternate ending to I Am Legend, a movie I was super siked about before anyway, but now am more excited because me and a few of my students where allowed to be extras in it. Apparantly an original scene wasn't testing well so they descided to put together a new one. I didn't read the extras sheet I signed to closeley so I don't know what I can and can't talk about except that we're in a crowd shot walking up a road together, I did it like 16 times, some of my students had been there all day and did it like 30 times. Now I was only in about 16 takes of the shot, and there where about 15 more I wasn't in so the probability any of my takes being in the alternate scene is about 50/50 and then the chances of the scene being in the film itself is debatable so we may have to wait for DVD (they said the footage would end up on the DVD no matter what), but it was awesome. Although I was in every one of the airial takes as they didn't start the copter shots until well after I got there, so I may be one of the small specks marching up the road... They built this whole fake gate at the edge of this town nearby and told us they where going to, through the power of CGI put a wall around the whole town and add/remove some buildings. Will Smith actually hung out with the extras and took pictures, unfortunitly I am no match for a swarm of teens, so I only got to be in the crowd and didn't get to talk to him, but he was a shockingly nice guy, he had been filming the same scene for about 5 hours by that point but still came over with a smile and spent time with everybody and even started conversations with people and set up pictures etc. before being called back for more takes. We also where allowed in the craft services area to have snacks and got to talk with the production staff about how the film was going. The funniest part was when the production assistant came over to dismiss us and said "Thank you all for coming out and taking part in the shockingly boring process of filmmaking" It was a really cool experience, except that it was cold, and I had to park really far away
  10. I agree with Hero, it sounds like we are getting a "happy ending". Spoilers... The ending was already totally changed from the book. In the book, Neville dies hence completing the fact that he is Legend, the last human. In the screenplay I read, Neville and the two people he's with(Anna and a little kid named Ethan) get in their car and leave New York City. Anna has heard rumors of a community in Vermont or somewhere like that. That's how the screenplay ends, you don't know if they find anything, it's open ended. Now it sounds like the movie will end with them arriving in the community and finding other survivors..yeah a happy ending!!! Uggg....
  11. this was posted on the "I Am Legend" message board on imdb.com "My girlfriend's Dad is the construction coordinator for this movi...and it's true they are doing reshoots! It's pretty in depth. He's been in there for a week already rebuilding A LOT of the sets. They already scrapped all the stuff so they have to rebuild a lot of it...He said it's quite a lot of new scenes being shot. He's actually saying that they should push the release date back a month or 2 but the studio can't do that so he's worried the movie isn't going to be complete! So this is a time to be worried about this movie! Very Worried!!" I hope this guy's full of crap...
  12. uh-oh....I Am Legend is doing reshoots Nov. 14th thru Nov. 16th.
  13. They have already started showing trailer on tv. I seen two today watching ESPN! Pretty much the same stuff scene from the trailers, but a little different stuff here and there.
  14. I agree...the last shot is cool!
  15. Yes!!!! Mann is one of my favorite directors.
  16. If true this is a bad idea... http://movies.ign.com/articles/823/823413p1.html September 27, 2007 - IGN has been informed by a reliable source that Sony Pictures is developing a remake of The Karate Kid that will be produced by Will Smith's Overbook Entertainment and Jerry Weintraub. Weintraub also produced the 1984 film, starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita, and its three sequels. We were also advised that Smith's son Jaden, 9, is attached to star in the remake. Jaden Christopher Syre Smith starred opposite his dad in last year's The Pursuit of Happyness, which was also released by Sony. We understand that this new Karate Kid is currently out to writers. IGN didn't hear back from Weintraub's office or Smith's reps by time of publish, so until there's official confirmation consider this a rumor.
  17. check out this youtube video of Hancock filming! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USWVmR57QPs...ted&search=
  18. I don't like how people keep refering to it as an action comedy. I don't want it to end up as "My Super Ex-Girlfriend"!
  19. quoted for truth :yeahthat: :yeahthat: :yeahthat: :yeahthat: Not to bash Wil,l but he has a pretty big say on the "ins and outs" of what happens in a movie he makes, espically since he's a producer on most of them. Big name directors want to call their own shots and make the decisions, and not have interference. Someone like Muccino will pretty much let Will decide things and change around the script and such.
  20. http://www.variety.com/article/VR111797150...yid=13&cs=1 Smith Will Smith will reunite with the creative team behind "The Pursuit of Happyness" to star in "Seven Pounds." The film is scheduled to shoot in February for a late 2008 release. "Happyness" helmer Gabriele Muccino will direct the drama, which Escape Artists and Smith's Overbrook Entertainment are producing. The two Sony-based shingles also produced "Happyness" for the studio, where "Seven Pounds" will likely land. The story centers on a man who inadvertently falls in love while attempting to kill himself. Grant Nieporte wrote the screenplay. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, James Lassiter, Smith and Steve Tisch are producing. Muccino had been attached to direct Smith in Columbia Pictures' "Hancock," the actor's follow-up to "Happyness." But the director dropped out due to creative differences and was replaced by Peter Berg. That film is lensing and set to wrap in the fall. Smith will then spend the holiday season promoting Warner Bros. Pictures' post-apocalyptic actioner "I Am Legend," which bows in December, before segueing to "Seven Pounds." Escape Artists recently wrapped the Denzel Washington-directed "The Great Debaters." Overbrook's upcoming projects include "I Am Legend."
