  1. According to Bill Zwecker of the Chicago Sun-Times, Will is gonna be in town this Thursday with Chris Gardner. "STAR POWER: Not only will Paris Hilton be in the area Thursday, but Will Smith also will be hitting a red carpet -- a few miles east of the hotel heiress' premiere of her ''National Lampoon's Pledge This,'' out at Hollywood Boulevard theaters in Woodridge. Smith will be joined by Chris Gardner -- the guy the actor portrays in ''The Pursuit of Happyness.'' The duo will work the red carpet beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the AMC River East 21 multiplex on East Ilinois Street. I know that theater, it's real nice, I'm thinking about going.
  2. Like a science... I think you guys are the ones being cynical...there's nothing wrong with heartwarming stories. Sometimes in life heartwarming stuff does happen like the life of Chris Gardner. Will and JL detailed this themselves in a recent interview.. Personally I wish it was a little more genuine... Well, I'm sure they want to win an oscar, who doesn't...but I still think they want to tell a great story and reach people. Even if they don't get a oscar, or even a nomination, they still can be proud of a movie that's good. The oscars aren't that meaningful, not like they use too.
  3. Columbia Pictures has set Peter Berg to direct "Tonight, He Comes," the long-gestating film that will star Will Smith as a superhero in existential crisis. Pic begins shooting in May for a summer 2008 release. Akiva Goldsman, Michael Mann, James Lassiter and Smith produce. Berg is the third helmer to join the project, but the producers feel he'll be the one to bring the project to fruition after Jonathan Mostow and Gabriele Muccino ankled previously over creative differences. Berg's emergence puts the pieces in place for a project that's morphed in a 10-year development cycle from a quirky Vincent Ngo script to one scribe Vince Gilligan has recrafted into a potential summer tentpole. The quartet of producers have supervised myriad Gilligan rewrites that accentuated the superhero's love affair with a married housewife. That has turned the latter role into one coveted by actresses. Charlize Theron is the favorite to take the job. Berg's name surfaced two weeks ago, but his deal took time as Sony labored to keep a fiscal rein on a film that will have as many visual effects as any superhero movie but a storyline that's far less predictable. Smith's character is a drinking, smoking womanizer whose lifestyle is closer to rock star than do-gooder. The public is as sick of him as he is of them, until he finds a special connection with the married housewife. Most of the producers have past dealings with Berg and each other. Berg just directed Jamie Foxx starrer "The Kingdom," which Mann produced with Scott Stuber for Universal, and Mann cast Berg in "Collateral." Mann, who was originally hired to direct "Tonight, He Comes" when the project was at Artisan, directed Smith in "Ali" and produced that film with Lassiter. Goldsman, who's producing Smith starrer "I Am Legend," also produced "I, Robot" with the star and did uncredited script work for Berg on "The Rundown." They will invite Berg into their circle, further honing the script while "I Am Legend" shoots in New York until March. They will jump right into "Tonight, He Comes," which will be set in Los Angeles.

  5. Yeah, Tom Rothman at Fox is moran. Just look at wha they did X-Men 3. Proyas has always said nice things about Will and how supportive he was. Berg's doing a drama right now with Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Gardner called "The Kingdom". I'd like to see that before I judge him as director for this project.
  6. There was any Will in this. It was just the stunt cars working with the car, in preparation for a stunt, where the car crashes through a storeroom window out on to the streets of Manhattan.
  7. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have teamed with writer-producers Jan Nash and Jennifer Levin for a medical drama set at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. CBS has given a put pilot commitment to the project from CBS Paramount Network TV and Smith's Overbrook Entertainment. Based on an idea by Smith and Pinkett Smith, the untitled drama is described as a mix of mysterious and emotional stories. It chronicles the medical adventures of the CDC doctors who fight the diseases and viruses that threaten people worldwide. Nash and Levin, both under overall deals at CBS Par TV, will write the pilot script. The two will executive produce with Smith, Pinkett Smith and James Lassiter, Smith's partner at Overbrook. Overbrook's Miguel Melendez will serve as producer. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/telev...t_id=1003224303
  8. Chris Gardner, author of THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS, will appear on Oprah on 10/26 with actor Will Smith for the taping of the show.
  9. There's a link on this page to an international trailer for the movie http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=11056
  10. O boy, the last human on earth has a daughter, brilliant. If i'm not misstaken, we will only get to see her in wills flashbacks... She dies to! DRAMA, Oh! The Drama! :switch: Yeah, she's only seen in flashbacks. It's not a big role but is one of the few parts in the script.
  11. Will's daughter Willow is gonna play his daughter in the movie. Ehh...
  12. Well, he's the last person alive, so I doubt he cares about personal appearence.

  14. Yeah, thanks! http://www.flickr.com they have alot of set phots of Will's car in the movie and extra grass and weeds placed around. Just search "I Am Legend" or "Will Smith".
  15. Well, just to have Will alone it cost like 25 million versus a percent of the grosses, so it's too expensive for studios to get other big name actors to star with Will. Who cares who the co-stars are as long as they can act and fit the part. I'm not familiar with Salli Richardson, but Alice Braga can act. Go see "City of God", it's an awesome flick. I've read the script for the movie and while it's quite different from the book, it can still be a good movie. It will have great visuals and fx scenes, and the sense of lonliness and despair are there. The ending is weak though. I do agree though with Will working with less than stellar directors. I mean he's worked with Michael Mann and Robert Redford. Michael Bay and Roland Emmerich are pretty good for action movies Others aren't horrible, Proyas has great visual sense and Andy Tennant fitted what "Hitch" was. We'll see about Muccino. Sonnenfeld's a fluke who got lucky with the Addams Family and the first Men in Black. He really is a bad director. I just wish Will would work guys like Spielberg, Scorsease, Ridly Scott, Peter Weir, Chris Nolan, Alexander Payne...just to name a few. I think once again just having Will's too much money and the studio won't get a big name director. Also, I think Will produces alot of his own movies and has a say in whose the director, and what the movie will be like. I think alot of big time director don't want to be at the mercy of the star as what the film will be like. Look at "Tonight, He Comes", Mostow and Will differed in opinion and Mostow, who had been attached to the film before Will, was the odd man out.
  16. second unit stuff has started on "I Am Legend" here's a link with some pics from the set... http://flickr.com/photos/simonpride/233871843/ here's some more http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=24385
  17. http://scriptzone.forumculture.net/ftopic1...view.htm#bottom I AM LEGEND by Akiva Goldsman Based on the script by Mark Protosevich Previous Revisions by John Logan and Neal Jimenez Based on the novel by Richard Matheson Script dated July 11th 2006 I'm back. Took 2 years to find a script worth reviewing, but it finally happened. I've read numerous screenplays during my retirement. I need to address one thing: the current state of American screenwriting. It's awful. For every Zach Helm (the next Charlie Kaufman), we have 10 idiots writing Scary Movie 5 or Bring it On 3. Original voices are harder and harder to find these days. Just look at the Academy Awards last year, it was almost a big-budget Spirit Awards ripoff. Indie and foreign cinema have some very fascinating voices. Somehow Hollywood has lost it's edge in the past 5 years. No one seems to be making interesting and intelligent studio pictures. The bottom-line has taken over and the studio execs are scared *beep* to greenlight anything remotely different. Thank god for the specialty divisions are doing something different. (WIP, Paramount Vantage, Fox Searchlight etc...) Eventhough my tastes are pretty much indie these days, I still enjoy a big-budget spectacle from time to time. I've read 2 kickass high-profile 2007 screenplays. Goldsman's I Am Legend and David Goyer's Jumper. Hopefully I'll have the time to review Jumper before TIFF but it's an amazing ride. Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) has another shot at starting a fantastic franchise. I like Warner Brothers. They have four of the most intriguing films of the fall: The Departed (adored the script), The Fountain, The Good German and Blood Diamond. They've had a rough summer with Poseidon and Superman under-performing. Their 2007 line-up will be highlighted by I AM LEGEND. ROBERT NEVILLE (Will Smith) is the last man on earth. He hunts down deers off Park Avenue in New-York City. During the day, he finds food and equipments to continue his existence. Before sundown, he goes back to his bunker residence awaiting daytime again. A former army virus-expert, he's trying to discover a cure for the virus that has mutated 90% of the population. Those 'infected' are allergic to sunlight and UV light. They eat whatever they can find. Neville is immuned to the virus and uses his own blood to find a serum. He broadcast a message everyday on the radio to have survivors meet him at the South Street Seaport at noon. We flashback between Robert's memories of how the whole infection began and how he lost his family. Finally, one day he's had enough. He decides at the sundown to take on the whole infected army. (His idea of suicide...) Just as he's about to collapse from the evil onslaught, a young woman called ANNA and a boy ETHAN appear. Is he dreaming? I need to say I've never read the legendary script that Mark Protosevich wrote or Matheson's novel. With that in mind, I'm not able to tell you how faithful the adaptation is. But I'll say this, it's a fascinating story. I like the script from beginning to end. Goldsman, who's usually either great or totally off, has managed to write a very strong storyline. It reminded me of the first half of 28 Days Later. I still think Danny Boyle's film is seriously flawed. The first half of that movie is KICKASS. It's one of the most brilliant piece of sci-fi cinema. Unfortunately, the whole military-castle second half is awful. It seriously sucks. Now imagine the first half stretched to 2 hours with a bigger budget, an amazing location (NYC instead of London) and more drama. That's I AM LEGEND for you.
  18. It's good news, and not to be a buzzkill, but keep in mind that football players are not likely the toughest audience. And I doubt they're not gonna say positve things about the owner of the team's movie.

  20. The scripts found on the internet are old and really aren't being used for this version. Akiva Goldsman rewrote the whole thing. They moved it to New York, Ben Cortman ain't in it (booo!), and there's a new character named 'Phillip" in place of the Ruth character that Depp is allegelly playing.
  21. Yeah it's a couple of days before thanksgiving, which is one of the biggest movie weekends of the year. Summer 2007 is really crowded...there's Pirates 3, Spiderman 3, Shrek 3, Transformers, Harry Potter 5, Rush Hour 3, Die Hard 4, The Simpsons, another Jason Bourne movie
