Here's some freshness being breathed into "Black Suits Comin' (Nod Ya Head)." This would certainly have been better for MIB3 compared to that Pitbull song...even with the lyrics referencing the second movie.

Will Smith Impromptu Rap on David Letterman 5/20/13
JumpinJack AJ replied to DevilsJim89's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I saw this in the morning and it made my day. The emcee certainly isn't taking a break...he's just not working on music with the goal of a completed album. There's nothing rusty about what just happened there. I like that they ignored the solo hits and played "Summertime." -
JOHN REUBEN - Make Money Money Word of Mouth (2007)

Yeah, that's the one I used too. I downloaded it around the time it first leaked but the download wasn't good so I needed to revisit the album properly. I don't download a ton of stuff, but this has always seemed pretty scarce.

This post goes out to Julie...and the other Left Eye/TLC fans on the board. Some of you know that in 2001, Left Eye tried to release her long awaited solo album, Supernova. The album was a crazy mix of wit and deep lyrics. The sound of the album was all over the place and it challenged listeners, as there isn't any other album like it. Long story short, after releasing it overseas, LA Reid wasn't going to release it in the US until she re-worked it...probably to make it more Hip-Hop or more like a TLC album. Long story short, Left Eye (a fellow stubborn Taurus) wasn't going to change it and LA's actions put her in a loop hole to take her solo project else where (even though LaFace/Arista released all her work with TLC). Instead of simply shopping a label who would have jumped at the chance, she took her connections to Deathrow (through 2Pac, which led to Kurupt and Suge) and signed with them. The plan was to create new music with a completely different vibe, while reworking some of her music from Supernova. She took on a grittier persona, N.I.N.A. Since hardly any new music was recorded, the personality in her music wasn't the different. It was just some of the harder edge of her that could catch glimpses of in some of her previous music. The shocker was when she went on 106 & Park with the Deathrow camp and played this weird character. TLC fans were annoyed, but we had to remember, this was all part of the game she wanted to play with the media. This is the same girl who fell off the face of the earth on purpose and made people she was missing...LOL. This certainly wasn't the real her, which can be seen in the amazing, yet irie Last Days of Left Eye documentary. I don't know that anyone would challenge this being a small part of her personality tho'...this is the girl who burned down her lying, cheating boyfriends house. This is the girl that pulled a gun on Clive Davis when CraZySeXyCOol had made over 75 million dollars, yet each of the girls only had $50,000 each. Anyways, Deathrow finished their work on the N.I.N.A project, but didn't release it since Left Eye's family requested that they didn't. A re-worked version of "Untouchable" with 2Pac was released to radio stations in 2002 but never got much attention. In the end, Left Eye wasn't going to go through with the N.I.N.A. project and was going to focus on new music with TLC before she passed. Anyways, this long intro is just leading up to a leaked version of the N.I.N.A. project. I, personally, really like it. It just captures a different side of her and changes the landscape for Supernova completely. And The Row Hitters actually give her lyrics a nice backdrop. The guests aren't bad either (though a few of them are lifted from Supernova). Check the links below for the leaked album. Will, what's going on with you & music, anything?
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Ha ha...he's not saying much, but we know something is brewing. It's about time Kanye do something good for Hip-Hop again. Haters (Kanye fans), back off! -
Yeah, B-more is just over an hour away. It'll be the first time I'll be able to see Jazzy without driving 5 hours or further away...lol.
-
Whoa! Nicole, I live in Maryland so please post more info about the B-more or DC show when you have it. It's been 10 years since I've seen Jeff do his thing!!
-
I didn't even notice. I'm gonna have to do that!

I would still be spending crazy money on magazines if they were like this (but aimed for adults). I have boxes of Source, Vibe, Blaze, XXL, Rap Sheet, Rap Pages, Word Up!, Right On, Fresh!, and Spice magazines from back in the day. Now the magazines are crazy over priced, dominated by advertisements, and rarely feature substantial news on true Hip-Hop artists. The crazy thing is, most of the people on THIS magazine cover and still musically active!!
-
I know there's copyright issues regarding the music used in the show, but I wish this would be available on DVD. The show is just funny and light...I could watch this at anytime, over and over again.

Janet Hubert: "Will Smith owes me an apology!"
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
She just keeps going. She's a one trick pony who's only ability is to trash the Prince of Bel-Air. She hasn't been around him in YEARS and she talking like she knows him and has talked to him since he was in his early 20's. Here we go... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Janet Hubert Talks Will Smith Feud, Being Fired From ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' (VIDEO) Posted: 05/09/2013 9:44 pm EDT | Updated: 05/09/2013 10:07 pm EDT Sign Up Now this is a story all about how the first Aunt Viv got kicked out of town ... The long-standing feud between Janet Hubert ("The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's original Aunt Viv) and star Will Smith has been well-documented, but in a recent interview with "omg! Insider," Hubert admitted that she thinks "we all owe each other an apology" for the creative differences that resulted in her being fired from the show and replaced by Daphne Reid. "[smith] said 'we're just gonna replace her and act like nothing happened,'" Hubert recounted of her exit from the hit comedy in 1993. "Well honey, that is not what happened, is it? The world has let me know that my place on that show was very, very, very loved ... I felt demonized and beaten up and crucified for many many years, no one came forward in my defense." Hubert admitted that Smith did "some heinous, horrible things to me -- they were like bad kids, Will and Alfonso [Ribiero], especially Alfonso. He said that I was crazy and nobody wanted to go to lunch with me." In 2011, Hubert told TMZ, "There will never be a reunion ... as I will never do anything with an a------ like Will Smith. He is still an egomaniac and has not grown up. This constant reunion thing will never ever happen in my lifetime unless there is an apology, which he doesn't know the word." She has since softened her stance on the idea of a reunion, telling TheGrio.com, “I would say to him [smith], we need to heal this. You’ve done some things, you’ve said some things, that were totally untrue and you know that they were untrue. I’ve said some things that I probably should have never said ... I’m tired. Aren’t you tired Will?” Now, Hubert is ready to move on. "We need to have a reunion, we have to end this horrible, 21-year war," she told "omg! Insider," adding, "I think we all owe each other an apology." Watch Hubert's interview with "omg! Insider" below. CHRIS KELLY OF KRIS KROSS DEAD AT AGE 34
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
Here's a link to a video of Chris Smith speaking at Chris Kelly's funeral. He's pretty torn up. It took guts for him to get up there and be so raw. I feel that all Kris Kross fans will get some sort of closure by watching it. http://globalgrind.com/news/daddy-mac-breaks-down-eulogy-chris-kellys-funeral-video -
CHRIS KELLY OF KRIS KROSS DEAD AT AGE 34

Kris Kross' Chris Kelly's Funeral To Be Held In Atlanta By JONATHAN LANDRUM Jr. 05/09/13 06:10 PM ET EDT Sign Up Chris Kelly during his So So Def All-Star 20th Anniversary Concert performance at Fox Theater on February 23, 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Prince Williams/Getty Images) ATLANTA — Chris Smith remembered his Kris Kross hip-hop partner Chris Kelly Thursday as a true friend who he's sure is in heaven now. Smith struggled to blurt out words at the pulpit of Jackson Baptist Memorial Church at Kelly's funeral attended by some 300 friends, family and fellow entertainers The 34-year-old Kelly, who had the 1992 hit "Jump" with Smith, was found dead May 1 of a suspected drug overdose. His mother and uncle told authorities Kelly had a history of drug abuse and experienced similar episodes in the past, according to a police report. "It's been a struggle for me every day, but there was a peace that came over me this morning because I know he's in heaven," Smith said, as tears fell down his face. Kelly's mother, Donna Kelly Pratte, continuously wept while she stared at her son's casket. At the beginning of the service, she pleaded for two of the deacons not to close the coffin. "Please don't close it," she screamed. "Please don't close it on my baby." Before the service began, Smith walked into the church alongside rapper-producer Jermaine Dupri, who discovered the 1990s teen duo, at an Atlanta mall. Smith also talked about the last time performed he and Kelly performed together at the 20th anniversary of Durpri's label, So So Def., in late February. "We had so many memories," Smith said. "He was a true friend. He wanted to see if I was all right. So I just want to say I love you, man, and I'll miss you." Robert Barber, who described himself as a father figure to Kelly, said Kelly told him that he felt fulfilled after that performance. "He called me and said, `Unc, I feel alive,'" Barber recalled. All of Kelly's other family and friends from DJ Nabs to his cousin LaToya Wise also had a hard time speaking at the funeral. Each of them said it's going to take a while to cope with Kelly's loss. "It's supposed to be a celebration, but it's tough to do that today," said Wise, who read a poem about Kelly that said he was a fearless character. Dupri and Da Brat wore their pants backward to pay homage to Kris Kross, who was known for wearing their clothes backward, but won over fans with their infectious rap hooks. Throughout the nearly two-hour service, numerous photos were shown behind the pulpit of Kelly posing with music legends such as Michael Jackson, Gerald Levert and Patti LaBelle. Two of the four members of the band Xscape, sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott also performed. "He just wanted to smile. That's all he wanted," Tamika Scott said when she arrived. "He was known to be a happy person." Da Brat tried to speak to reporters when she arrived but stopped when she got choked up and went on into the church. Kris Kross was introduced to the music world in 1992 by Dupri after he discovered the pair at Greenbriar Mall in southwest Atlanta. Kelly was known as "Mac Daddy" and Smith was known as "Daddy Mac." "Jump" was the duo's first, and by far most successful song. The hit was off their multiplatinum 1992 debut album "Totally Krossed Out," featured the two trading verses and rapping the refrain, the song's title. The duo had surprising maturity in their rap delivery, though the song was written by Dupri. It would become a No. 1 smash in the United States and globally, and one of the most popular of that year. -

I love seeing the activity on Facebook. I have two suggestions... First, FP is the main attraction at the moment (as he always is commercially), but I think I'd like to see some memes for Jeff. He has some great quotes on music. He also has a ton of funny quotes from FPofBA that would be hilarious over images from the show. I think it would be a great idea to create a few images that would invite the Facebook users to visit the website and/or the message board. There could be an old school JJ+FP one, a new school JJ+FP one, a modern FP solo one, a modern JJ solo one, and FBofBA one, and then one for whatever the current Will Smith movie is. That way it would hit home for the various kinds of fans that they have and it would increase the activity on this website/message board. Just thoughts... -
Let me first say that I can't take him serious with that hair...LOL. Like y'all, if the pain of hearing a song with him and Psy lead to more music, I'd suffer through it. But if he's serious, and it's one-off kinda thing, then NO. As usual, he's not ruling out more music. He's talking as if it hasn't been 8 years since Lost + Found. I'm still believing for more music with a significant amount of confidence.

Turbo - Just The Two Of Us (with Will Smith) Korean Version
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I've seen this before! I just don't remember Turbo being a part of the performance tho.' It's been years since I've seen it. I think it's pretty awkward that they are behind that scrim and are only visible during their part...LOL. This is dubbed as the Korean Version. The other alternate version is the Spanish Version featuring DLG/Dark Latin Groove. Personally, the original and remix versions are the only versions I listen to. -
CHRIS KELLY OF KRIS KROSS DEAD AT AGE 34
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
A video has surfaced that shows Chris just hours before he passed away. I don't know WHY they would release this video since he's clearly attempting to function while about to overdose. It shows a bit of his crib (which is nice!) and a bunch of guys under the influence of something. Some of his new music plays in the background while he barely raps along for a few lines. For someone who respects Kris Kross, this will be tough to watch. This isn't the cool, laid back, funny Chris you're use to...this is a shell of a man before he body shuts down. http://www.theroot.com/buzz/watch-chris-kellys-eerie-last-freestyle -
This message board and website has definitely been an escape over the years. It's definitely family, and we've all shared some sort of hardships over the years here. Sometimes I need to distance myself from things like this forum, but once I find my footing again, it's always a place to share and be distracted from life. I'm sorry things are rough right now. Just know that they'll get better in a way that's hard to foresee right now.
