CHRIS KELLY OF KRIS KROSS DEAD AT AGE 34
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
Ga. medical official: Rapper died of drug overdose By PHILLIP LUCAS | Associated Press – 3 hours ago ATLANTA (AP) — Chris Kelly of the '90s rap duo Kris Kross died of a drug overdose, a medical office investigator said Monday. A toxicology screening revealed that Kelly, 34, had a mixture of drugs in his system when he was pronounced dead on May 1, said Betty Honey of the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office in Atlanta. Paramedics found Kelly unresponsive on a living room couch at his Atlanta home and tried to resuscitate him. Kelly, known as "Mac Daddy," was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Honey said she did not know which specific drugs Kelly had used before his death. However, a police report from the night of Kelly's death said his mother told investigators her son used cocaine and heroin the night before he died and had a history of drug abuse. Kris Kross was introduced to the music world in 1992 by music producer and rapper Jermaine Dupri after he discovered the pair at a mall in southwest Atlanta. Kelly performed alongside Chris Smith, who was known as "Daddy Mac." The duo wore their clothes backward as a gimmick, but they won over fans with their raps. Their first and most successful song was the 1992 hit "Jump," which became a chart-topper in the United States and around the world. The two were never able to match the tremendous success of their first song, though they had other hits like "Warm It Up," and "Tonite's tha Night." At a memorial ceremony for Kelly in early May his uncle, Lemar Williams, said Kelly showed a love for music from an early age and mimicked Michael Jackson's dance moves. Williams said Kelly loved Atlanta and never wanted to live anywhere else. Earlier this year, Kris Kross performed in Atlanta to celebrate the anniversary of Dupri's record label So So Def and Williams said Kelly was planning to make a comeback. http://music.yahoo.com/news/ga-medical-official-rapper-died-drug-overdose-222430113.html -
BACK TO BACK ID4 SEQUELS - WILL SMITH LOCKED?
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Will Smith Movies
Sure, some of it is dated; that's the part of the charm of well-loved movies. In the US, it IS a huge staple. It's a modern classic that reached all creeds as an unforgettable Summer blockbuster. That being said, I'll say what I've said 100 times...there's NO REASON to revisit this and tarnish legacy with a sequel just to make some money. It's a dumb idea on all levels. Period. -
Dope remix! I like the official ones better, but I really like the way they mixed elements of the original with the new. It's a totally way to approach the song and the vocals FIT! Thanx for sharing!

Will & Jaden rapping on 'El Hormiguero'!
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
They were really in the zone for the performance. It may be the best we've heard them on one of these shows yet. Jaden needs to abandon the email rap style and do what he's doing here. Hopefully he's finding that out. -

BACK TO BACK ID4 SEQUELS - WILL SMITH LOCKED?

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Please have this fall flat on its face in pre-production so that the legacy of the legendary film isn't tainted. -
Moonchild - Be Free (Jazzy Jeff & James Poyser Remix)
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Where can this be bought or downloaded? I've been looking and I haven't had any luck. All I can find is their album, which doesn't feature the remix... http://thisismoonchild.bandcamp.com/album/be-free-album http://www.amazon.com/Be-Free-Moonchild/dp/B0085MJG46/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1371691359&sr=1-2&keywords=moonchild -

Gillie Da Kid and Will Smith in studio
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Is this even still happening? This guy isn't a Lauryn Hill or LL Cool J who is relatively picky about putting music out. This is some "new" cat who isn't putting his "Rakim" foot forward. He seems to be making common rap music. What's the hold up? -
Here's the new acoustic version of "Unpretty." I LOVE THIS!
-
You know, I was expecting to hate their cover of it, but I actually like it. TLC's "approval" at the end of the video is probably a big part that. I love they way they handled the rap together and made it a sing-songy verse.

On a related note, here's Namie Amuro's song "Hands On Me" featuring a cameo of TLC in the first half of it. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=3144826595307 Lastly, TLC is featured on the single "Crooked Smile" from J. Cole's new album, which just dropped today. They don't do much on the song, but I'm happy to know they are active and mixing with the more talented artists of today.

TLC released their "20" album today in Japan. To my understanding, it features some of their hits re-recorded, as well as a few live cuts from the FanMail tour. There's also a version with footage of the FanMail tour, but it's only in Region 2. I didn't get that version because I'd be spending an extra $15 for a DVD that won't play in my DVD player. I hope they properly release the entire FanMail concert (originally shown on Pay Per View) with the new album. The DVD version only features live clips of the live songs at the end of the album. Waterfalls (20th Anniversary Version) No Scrubs Creep Unpretty Baby-Baby-Baby Diggin On You Waterfalls Unpretty (Acoustic) Baby-Baby-Baby (Live) Creep (Live) Unpretty (Live) Waterfalls (Live) No Scrubs (Live) Here's the 20th Anniversary Version of "Waterfalls." I like it, but I wish they wouldn't have collaborated with Japanese artist...she kinda throws things off. Her English is just too broken. I would have used Left Eye's alternate "Waterfalls" vocals from the remixes they re-recorded in 1995. Or I would have kept it with just T-Boz and Chilli and added a new verse. It's still good tho.' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjMzPh0d5Ic

Will Smith and Kanye West track

Also, I've seen that the Japan version won't be released until July 10th...so there's no way to truly know its tracklisting at this point. -
Will Smith and Kanye West track
JumpinJack AJ replied to Big Ben's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
It does appear that someone is calling this tracklisting fake... http://www.kanyetothe.com/forum/index.php?topic=463460.630 Front this source, it says there's a song called "Goodbye" featuring FP. Another shows a song called "Wild America" with spoken word by FP... http://rapgenius.com/groups/the-forum/discussions/28618-Yeezus-tracklist-leaked -
Will Smith and Kanye West track
JumpinJack AJ replied to Big Ben's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I wouldn't give up hope yet. Japan albums are hard to find and often unknown outside of Japan. They aren't "deluxe" editions either...they just have extra tracks. Keep in mind it took us 5 years to know the Japan version of JJ+FP's "Greatest Hits" existed, containing the unreleased Code Red era song "Don't Fight The Feeling." "Chosen One" is only found on the Japan release of Lost + Found, which isn't a deluxe edition. We just have to spend a little time waiting to find one with a tracklisting. -
Julie... LOL!! Why was it charting in 1994, three years after its release? This reminds me of TLC's CRaZYSeXyCOol re-entering the Billboard charts this year a few times. AWESOME!!!

I just saw it and I loved it for the most part. Let me first say that I'm not a pompous movie critic. When I go to see a movie, I just want to be entertained. There are times when dialogue sucks or acting sucks, but I feel that a lot of the time, people are just being over critical, as is the case with the critics of this movie. If I had to be critical, I would say it was the first 20 minutes of the movie. The abrupt start of the story was unique, but I didn't like it. I feel that should have eased into it to establish a few things. I like that you have to figure some of the story out as it went. I liked that they clearly established the things you need to know better, but some of the first 20 minutes felt disjointed. Additionally, that was the ONLY spot where Jaden's acting seemed a little flat at times (which is completely forgivable since it makes up for it in the rest of the movie). After that first 20 minutes, I loved it. The visuals are amazing and I like the use of special effects. The action is great and the "villain" is a legit threat. Jaden is coming into his own as an actor and there were at least three moments in the movie was I was like "this is a moment that really establishes him." The comedy was great too, but most of the small audience didn't get the dry humor. I love the movie and I think if some of you aren't seeing the movie because of some of the press, you are foolish. As a fan, it's important to go out there any SUPPORT these projects. As one of my movie-buff friends says "once Hollywood builds you up, they want to tear you down." This is one of those movies where they wanted to tear people down. I saw the movie on a Sunday night, and considering it came out a few weeks ago, it was good to see 13 other people in the theater. That isn't much, but for a Sunday night, weeks after it's release, and after taking a beating from the media, it seemed pretty good. One things for sure, it's better than Hancock. Pretty much everything is better than Hancock.

Wow, great idea to brush this post off!! Life was so much different back then!! I did manage to get that house and I managed to get that new car. Two, actually, due to a car accident. I keep the bills paid and I'm doing it all on my own. I also strengthened my spiritual life. At the end of 2008, I was frustrated with the separation I had allowed to grow between myself and God. I made a point at that time to go to church every Sunday, and for the most part I've kept that. I tried to keep myself being filled with the things of God, and its been life changing. While I haven't doing anything active in music, I did focus on acting and I've made lots of new friends and have become very well known in the area for what I do. Many local directors ask me to come out for their shows or they ask me to help cast their shows since I know so many people in the local industry. I've been able to work with an up and coming playwright and it NEVER gets old being recognized in public. When it comes to my love life, that's been a roller coaster. I posted this as I began seeing someone know. There were many ups and downs with them, but I love them. To the point that I wanted to marry her. Some of the challenges she introduced to the situation hit harder than the ones I did. She's now married and I'm extra cautious in this area of my life. I've been so active in recent years that it's hard to imagine having enough time to put into a relationship properly, but I really do want to be settling down with the right person, and soon. It's crazy how you can fulfill so much and find yourself being happier before doing so. The goals I am chasing now are to continue growing as an actor and a performer, yet to also find a better balance in life for myself. The body starts requiring more maintenance as you get older, so I need to put more time in to being youthful and in shape. Financially I want to see myself grow stronger and I also want to make my career situation better by changing positions or putting a fire into what I already do.

I hope so. I hope their song isn't musical foreplay that leads to nothing, leaving my ears with blue...never mind.
