I havn't gotten a new PM Dawn album since "Dearest Christian..." I HATE buying albums on the internet thru' their websites...and becuz of that it's be very hard 2 get those last few albums. That's why i STILL havn't gotten Wicked Wisdom's or Vee's. I think Arrested Development and Speech's albums are the only ones i've ordered off their site. I would get the albums by 4th Avenue Jones' but they don't have any in stock.

AIR FRESH - WILL SMITH ENTERPRISES
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I think Will Smith Enterprises is now defunct. I'm guessing he closed their doors since there isn't any news of who's signed 2 it. I don't know exactly what u would consider it but he signed artists that he'd take under his wing (Tatyana Ali, Tishina Arnold) and get their careers started. Those are the only 2 people i ever remember being signed 2 it. I think Overbrook kinda replaced Will Smith Enterprises. Overbrook is a bigger company so i doubt he would still have Will Smith Enterprises. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air airs a few times on Nick At Nite but i'm not exactly sure when. I think 10 at nite and midnite (back 2 back episodes i think at midnite). What's even better is that they usually put it right next 2 The Cosby Show...the other greatest show of all time. -
Thanx!!! I'm gonna check the site out in better detail later.

BABYFACE - You Were There I just picked up Babyface's 1998 Christmas album...very good stuff!! It's Christmas music Babyface style (just the way u'd expect it).
-
At one point i had at least 6 or 7 copies of Big Willie Style. CDnow had the tracklisting of the album incorrect (listing 2 or 3 bonus trax). I kept ordering them and then complaining that they didn't have the correct info on the site. They took them all back. The one music store i go 2 alot as a huge collection of used CDs in the back. Every other month, they knock at least a dollar off the price. When ever JJ+FP or Will Smith albums get down 2 a dollar or 2, i buy them. I use them as back-up copies 4 the car or 2 loan 2 friends 2 get them more in2 JJ+FP.

I waz over at my friend's house and we were watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air on Nick At Nite. It was the episode where Will joins the basketball team and they have a really cheezy phoney commercial where FP is advertising his brand of shoes "Air Fresh." The "Air Fresh" logo from 1990 is the EXACT SAME LOGO FP used for Will Smith Enterprises established in 1997. I just lost it, i had never noticed that b4. I guess i havn't seen that episode since 1997. That outline of FP doing the runnin' man just struck me so silly that it originated from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Yeah, i planned on sending him somethin' in the mail. Havn't given it 2 much thought tho.' I used 2 talk 2 him from tyme 2 tyme on the internet, but he hasn't gotten on in ages. At least not on the way i'd contact him.

Hey, ain't nothin' wrong with having double copies of CDs. I have 3 Big Willie Styles, 2 Code Reds, 2 Born To Reigns, 2 The Magnificents. I also get import versions of some CDs for bonus trax or edited and explict versions of CD (if i really like them).
-
Yeah, that's what i meant. I think "Will 2K" waz released at the right time...about a month b4 the album dropped, which also allowed it 2 do so well without runnin' over the new year.

"Baby Don't Cry" wazn't really a rare video. It got lots of play. Like most older videos, it never gets play anymore tho.' 2Pac's camp really needs 2 orgainze a 2Pac video collection for the fans. There are alot of videos that most newer fans have never seen and they never get aired. That whole 2Pac + The Outlawz album waz good. The Outlawz have very average talent...andi really wish it waz just a solo album, but the trax on it are great (Still I Rise is probably my fav). Only 3 or so of the trax have that "newly remixed 4 commercial release" feel 2 'em.

Pointless post!! Hey, i'm just a big Hip-Hop head who loves the music and loves the culture. When someone spits on it or twists it's image, i'm gonna have something 2 say. I don't care if someone likes Eminem...but when they try 2 say he's a big player of Hip-Hop...that's where people need 2 get skooled. Opinions can vary on his music...but it's fact that he isn't truly representing Hip-Hop culture. If u think he is...u are fooling yourself or u have no idea what Hip-Hop is about...that's all i gotta say.
-
This comment is coming from the person who thinks Eminem and G-Unit are the best thing since sliced bread?!?! This is getting hilarious. Right now i'm listening 2... 2PAC + THE OUTLAWZ - Baby Don't Cry (Keep Ya Head Up Pt. II)
-
I'm thinkin' that FP is like alot of people. He probably agrees with aspects of both sides. I see him as a person who calls for change...but he also has a conservative edge 2 him.
-
"Freakin' It" wazn't aimed at any rapper/emcee in specific. Eminem didn't talk about FP until after Willenium waz out. "Freakin' It" is aimed at all those who apply. FP takes on all those uncreative, cookie-cutter, wack rappers that dominate the charts. He talks about a certain kind of artist, it just turns out that alot of them happen 2 be the ones who have commercial success, yet, haven't earned it.
-
Yeah, Ready Rock C put his side of the story out on his site.
-
Here is WILLENNIUM the US... "Wild Wild West" dropped in June 1999. "Will 2K" in Sept/Oct 1999. "So Fresh" in December 1999. "Freakin' It" in January 1999.
-
U said they were on the table...that's why i said that.
-
Sports don't interest me at all...but i remember some kinda ad in a magazine 4 him in like 2000 that had FP ties 2 it. Somewhere on it it said "The Fresh Vince" and later it said "Vince 2K." Just thought i'd share.
-
I think if someone starts a topic about him which has a purpose, then it's okay (even tho' more than half of us don't like him). But just bringing him up every other month 4 no reason is just silly.
-
Jada did tell him 2 release it when he let her hear a raw cut of it. I can see why Jeff might have not been feeling it. The heavy sample and the silly tie-in2 the movie. Still a dope song tho.' I just wish he used that beat 4 a song not related 2 a movie. What made FP wanna step away from recording and releasing stuff waz that Dr. Dre and Snoop started a whole phoney gangsta era in rap where all these uncreative losers put out all this faux gangsta rap, which not only sucked, but waz really annoying. I don't think any true Hip-Hop heads were happy about what waz getting commercial attention at the time. Anyways, when 1996 rolled around, people like De La Soul, The Fugees, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes and other artists were having good success and weren't taking part in the whole gangsta phase. FP saw hope for Hip-Hop which inspired him 2 get back in2 music. Jada gave him that extra push after he got started. Originally Big Willie Style waz supposed 2 be a more mature album. Early interviews and articles talked about FP touching on world issues, race issues, and so on. But the vibe changed (alot of Columbia's behalf i'm sure) which turned it in 2 a slick, fun Hip-Hop ride.

The lyric is "Here it is, a groove, slightly transformed..." He's talking about the track itself being different from anything else u'd hear in Hip-Hop. And i don't remember paying attention 2 any glasses in the video. Chances are they already drank out of them (Captin Obvious 2 the rescue!!).
-
That's quite an igorant comment. :nhawong:

TLC - Waterfalls Nothing feels better than when u hear one of your favorite songs of all time by one of your favorite artists of all time on the radio...then get disappointed cuz they aired the Radio Edit Without Rap. :bang:

I don't know if u can say anyone really discovered her. She waz a philly soul artists just writing and doing spots. She worked with a few people and it waz the established names like The Roots and DJ Jazzy Jeff who exposed her 2 the world. Jill Scott sang on the original version of The Roots 1998 hit "You Got Me" but it waz re-recorded with Erykah Badu 2 make it more commercial-accessable.

I'm gonna try 2 watch the commentary sometime soon. With all the time i spend at work, i may not get 2 watch it until after Christmas.
