  1. Singer Brandy Involved in Fatal Car Crash By STEVE GORMAN, Reuters LOS ANGELES (Jan. 25) - Actress and R&B singer Brandy was involved in a fatal, four-car accident on a Los Angeles freeway last month that started when her sports utility vehicle hit another car, police said on Wednesday. The 27-year-old former star of the TV comedy "Moesha" was not injured, but the driver of the car she rear-ended with her Land Rover in the December 30 crash died, according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim was identified as Awatef Aboudihaj, 38, a married mother of one, said CHP spokesman Leland Tang. No charges or arrests have been made in connection with the accident, and no formal determination has been made as to what caused the crash, which was first reported by the celebrity news Web site TMZ.com. A statement issued by Brandy's publicist said: "She wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased" and asks the media to "respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time." The singer-actress, whose full name is Brandy Norwood, was alone in her vehicle and no alcohol or drugs were involved, Tang said. A Statement From Brandy's Publicist "Brandy was involved in a car accident December 30, 2006 in Los Angeles where there was a fatality. She wished to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased. Brandy asks that you respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time." Brandy told officers she was driving at about 65 miles per hour before the crash occurred. "We've impounded all four vehicles, and the outcome of the mechanical inspection is coming to us today or tomorrow," Tang said. "Barring any mechanical difficulties on Brandy's part ... then there's the very high probability that she is the party most at fault or the contributing party." Brandy, a native of Mississippi, burst on the recording scene with her self-tilted debut album in 1994, launching such hits as "I Wanna Be Down," "Baby" and "Brokenhearted." Her fourth album, "Afrodisiac," was released in 2004 with a lead single, "Talk About Our Love," produced by Kanye West . Last year, she served on the panel of judges for NBC's summer show "America's Got Talent."
  2. Feds Charge Ex-Deputy in 1964 Slayings By EMILY WAGSTER PETTUS and LARA JAKES JORDAN AP WASHINGTON (Jan. 25) - A former Mississippi sheriff's deputy was arrested Wednesday in the 1964 slayings of two black teenagers who were long believed to have been kidnapped and killed by the Ku Klux Klan. The former deputy, James Ford Seale, of Roxie, Miss., was named in a federal indictment charging him in connection with the teens' disappearance and deaths while they were hitchhiking in a rural area of the state east of Natchez. Until recently, Seale was thought to be dead, and the investigation into the two deaths had long been abandoned. Seale was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon and was taken to Jackson, Miss. He is expected to be arraigned Thursday on kidnapping charges stemming from the May 1964 disappearances of Henry Dee and Charles Moore. Two months after Dee and Moore disappeared, their bodies were pulled from the Mississippi River as part of an FBI-led search for three civil rights workers reported missing about 160 miles away near Philadelphia, Miss. Federal authorities, who were focusing on the more famous "Mississippi Burning" killings, turned the Dee and Moore case over to local authorities. A short time later, a justice of the peace called an end to the inquiry without presenting evidence to a grand jury. Moore's older brother, Thomas Moore, worked with Canadian film producer David Ridgen for two years piecing together what happened in 1964. The effort led them to a brief confrontation with Seale, a former sheriff's deputy who had been reported as deceased in several newspapers. In 2000, the Justice Department's civil rights unit reopened the case, the most recent in a string of civil rights-era killings that have been revived by state and federal authorities in the South. Moore and Ridgen, along with Dunn Lampton, the U.S. attorney who has led the investigation in Mississippi, were traveling to Washington for a news conference as early as Thursday with Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and FBI Director Robert Mueller. Reached by cell phone on his way to the capital, a crying Thomas Moore said: "It's been a long journey, and I don't guess it could have happened any other way." "I hope and I believe that Charles Moore and Henry Dee are beginning to smile," Thomas Moore said. "I'm hoping Charles Moore is saying I didn't let him down." Seale and another man, Charles Marcus Edwards, were first arrested in the case in November 1964, four months after the bodies were found. At the time, Seale was asked if he knew why he had been arrested. The FBI said he responded: "Yes, but I'm not going to admit it. You are going to have to prove it." Both men were reputed members of the Ku Klux Klan, which at the time was cracking down on a rumored gunrunning operation by black Muslims in rural Franklin County., Miss. On May 2, 1964, according to federal documents, Seale offered the two black hitchhikers a ride, then drove them to a wooded area where he and others whipped them with bean poles. An informant later told the FBI that the Klansmen took the unconscious men to the river, lashed their bodies to a Jeep engine block and old railroad rails and dumped them, still breathing, into the muddy water. Edwards initially told federal investigators the two black men were alive when he left them and he had nothing to do with any murders, according to FBI documents. He later denied making the statement. Edwards was not expected to face any new charges, although authorities did not immediately say why. The case is the latest long-dormat civil rights-era killing to be reopened decades after the crimes were committed. The others include: -A 1994 conviction in Mississippi of Byron de la Beckwith for the 1963 sniper killing of NAACP leader Medgar Evers. -Bobby Frank Cherry, convicted in 2002 in Alabama of killing four black girls in the bombing of a Birmingham church in 1963. In 2001, Thomas Blanton was convicted in the church bombing. -Edgar Ray Killen, an 80-year-old former Klansman, convicted of manslaughter in June 2005 in the deaths of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, the three civil rights workers who were killed near Philadelphia in 1964. Associated Press writer Allen G. Breed in Raleigh, N.C., contributed to this story.
  3. STRANGE FRUIT PROJECT - Cali Cruisin' The Healing (2006) Turntable...does a day go by that u don't listen 2 that song?? I got sick of it a week after the album came out.
  4. Turntable...u are just falling in2 the trap...just let it go.
  5. ebay.com, gemm.com...those are the easiest place 2 find rare JJ+FP stuff.
  6. At work, i have a boombox tucked away in the corner 4 whenver i'm doing some late nite work after the studio has closed or for weekends. I have a mini-CD book back there with CDs i made just 2 keep at work (all of them clean enough that if anyone heard any of the songs from up front, they wouldn't be offended. The 1st one in there waz labeled "Fresh Prince: '97-'07 Mixtape." It of course features all of the singles he's released since '97 to now along with my fav album trax. One of the girls waz going thru' the book and said "NO WAY!!...FRESH PRINCE!! Does it it have "U Saw My Blinker" on it?!?" Ha ha. It waz just cool 2 me that someone else got hyped and threw out a song title when they saw the CD. So i told her not 2 worry, i planned on making a JJ+FP one 2 bring in2 work 2...ha ha. The rest of the day, whoever entered the lab waz jammin' 2 some new school FP. ...just thought i'd share.
  7. :::sniff::::sniff::: Am i the only one who smells a spammer?
  8. I woke up 2 this news and got hype. I'm really hoping he gets this...unless it leads 2 the 'Prince hanging up the mic.
  9. It's kinda rediculous listening 2 this song when u have the world on your mind...ha ha. I look forward 2 relating 2 this song again.
  10. WILL DOWNING - Everytime It Rains The Best of Will Downing (2000/2006)
  11. Hip-Hop is growing up...but aren't we all. And some of us are perserving quite nicely.
  12. I have 2 go with The Legend of Bagger Vance or The Pursuit of Happyness. I'm one of the few people who loves ...Bagger Vance. I mean, FP basically played God. He waz all-knowing and dropped tons of knowledge about life in that movie.
  13. STACIE ORRICO - Take Me Away Beautiful Awakening (2007)
  14. Yeah...Off-Topic for JJ+FP fans. U aren't even a JJ+FP fan. U are like that obnoxious guy who goes in2 a store all the time 2 use their bathroom and never buys anything from that store.
  15. Ha...i had no idea he waz in N-Toon...i remember the name of that group. I loved "Southside" and got the album. However, i didn't have staying power with me...i only listened 2 "Southside"...put it on a few mixCDs, and never picked it up again. I like the new single (with the exception of Lil' Wayne's awful raps and adlibs). The remix is even better. I'd be interested in hearing this album.
  16. Yeah, good remix tho'. I wouldn't discribe this mix as a club banger tho'...the beats 2 laidback.
  17. STRANGE FRUIT PROJECT - You (The Only Ones) The Healing (2006) Yo Tim! I found one of their albums in stores. The album is dope. Easily one of the top 15 Hip-Hop albums released in the last 3 years. Real Hip-Hop is alive and well. It's just not on the charts.
  18. As a general statement, i'm saying that nobody on this board is making posts that say "50 Cent Is Wack." They post news and sometimes, people are gonna critique an artist, their opinion, their music, or whatever. So all the people saying that we spend all this time saying how wack he is don't get it that we are replying 2 news. That that goes for every artist in general. Tastes differ and opinions clash. However, your situation is different. Everyone one this board is united thru' the fact they love JJ+FP, their solo projects, and/or FP's movies. U don't have that. U come up in here every few months just 2 talk about 50 Cent, G-Unit, and sometimes other commercial rap. If that's what u are about, go 2 a 50 Cent message board. The way u do this every few months is childish and ignorant. Who cares about 50 Cent? This is the JJ+FP message board. If u aren't a fan, go away. Everyone is tired of going thru' this every few months.
  19. No no no....i wazn't suggesting an elaborate remix 2 create a whole new song. I waz suggesting we just have someone take 2 verses of "Runaway Love" and 2 verses from "Tell Me Why" and mash 'em up 2gether in2 on mix/blend. Maybe a few DJ vocal samples from previous FP and/or Ludacris joints tossed in here and there and a decent blend in the middle. No new beats or anything...just 2 songs, back 2 back, maybe an effect here or there. I think we can draw some attention 2 "Tell Me Why" that way and i know a handful of people here would get it out there. I'd do it myself, but i have zero experience and zero resorces 2 do so.
  20. Nobody comes up here posting "50 Cent Is Wack"...they put up a news post that happens 2 have him in it. Then most of us say "he's an idiot" cuz he does and says the stupidest things in rap. However, your soul purpose on this board is 2 defend him. How manys times have u been on this board without talking about 50 Cent?!? Get a clue, nobody respects what u say.
  21. I just wanna throw my idea out there again. "Runaway Love" is in the peak of it's popularity. Music fans are downloading as we speak. Does anyone think it's a good idea that one of the better remixers on the board make a mix of "Runaway Love" and "Tell Me Why." Put it all over Hip-Hop and Rap message boards and let people get a taste of the track and keep the Fresh Prince out there...even tho' he's sounding hesitant about doing more music. Anybody wanna back me on this idea?
  22. NICK LACHEY - Shades of Blue What's Left of Me (2006)
  23. Yes! Very weird. No offense 2 Nas, but i can't think of anyone KRS-One needs 2 be making a tribute 2. KRS-One is one of Hip-Hop's finest as well as Hip-Hop's biggest fan. However, as one of Hip-Hop's biggest fans, i'm really impressed with the way Nas has stepped up. And while i've liked some of his post stuff and hated some of his past stuff, he waz never truely a stand out talent until now.
