  1. I wouldn't be surpised if he drops 2 at almost the same time...a rough track and an R-N-B (Around The Way Girl/Mama Said Knock You Out, Hey Lover/I Shot Ya) influcenced track. With the label formally known as Def Jam backing him, it's doubtful tho'.
  2. Awesome! One of Hip-Hop's most respected emcees of this era giving props 2 JJ+FP...music 2 my ears. Bring on the music!!
  3. DJ JAZZY JEFF + THE FRESH PRINCE - Summertime Homebase (1991) U may have heard this one...
  4. ERYKAH BADU - Penitentiary Philosophy Mam's Gun (2000)
  5. Don't sweat it Schnazz. Turntable is doing the same thing he's always done....worship processed, face commercial rap music while trying 2 get attention doing it. Sure, there's alot of things u could say 2 him...but most of us got real lives 2 tend 2...and that's what u are doing.
  6. Good track. His voice and flow do sound like they are from the Mr. Smith era. Trey adds flava without stealing the focus. My only problem is the production. It's good...but it's JUST good. Between the last 3 songs, the new album is starting 2 look up.
  7. FRESH PRINCE - Wave 'Em Off Lost + Found (2005) He's comin' back, y'all.
  8. I'll be glad 2 support my beliefs and tastes in an appropriate topic...but this garbage topic is not the place. And just 2 think, if i wazn't one of the only people amoungst the vets on this board, Turntable would have been banned months ago becuz he annoys 2 many people. That's the last time i stand up for him.
  9. I love how the fact that i rarely support the moral-lacking Democrats has u claiming that it contradicts a culture i've been a part of for decades that u don't really show that u know anything about. I also love how u are dissing golden age artists who people remember by name even tho' they haven't released an album in 10 years and are claiming that your wide range of gimmick-toting, no-talent-having commercial rappers are going 2 be remembered by name in 5 years. Allow me 2 remind u that it's dangerous ground when u continually go after a moderator.
  10. ALANIS MORESSETTE - Crazy The Collection (2005) She's is covering the 90's classic by Seal here!!
  11. Yeah, the past 2 years have had me battling alot of bad things and down times. It amazing how they can stretch themselves out sometimes...or hit u once u start 2 get over the last thing. It will all eventually end sometime. I feel like where i'm at right now is the best place i've been in the past 3 1/2 years...and it's just the beginning. Hang in there, u can't appriciate the good times without the bad. It's the tough times where we learn the most and grow the most. We got your back.
  12. When someone tries 2 stay safe by supporting all things Non-Hip-Hop for a whole paragraph, then cops out on the last sentence everytime 2 "kinda" diss it just so that the true Hip-Hop heads don't rip them apart...their comments don't really stick...just like the careers of their favorite commercial rappers.
  13. It's 2 in the morning and i'm headed 2 bed...but i just found out i got the part i really wanted in this one play i'm doing. I'm totally hyped!!
  14. ...didn't know this was a battle. ...feeling like i'm living in another demention at the mo'...
  15. I guess when u go as far as he has with no talent...u get a bit cocky. Stupid and disrespectiful. That's probably the biggest anti-Hip-Hop comment made all year.
  16. Yesterday i picked up Ashanti's new album and Lalah Hathaway's new albums...here's quick reviews for the R-N-B fans. I'm skipping the track by track reviews becuz those who care can just peep the songs online and make their own judgement. ASHANTI "THE DECLARATION" Ashanti has always bounced back and forth between making average and good music. I get all of her albums and usually only listen 2 half of the songs regularly, then put her albums away for long periods of time. I like her new single and picked it up at it's new release sale price. Her voice is the same as ever. No deep soul in it...just a pretty sweet singing voice. The sound of the album doesn't have much variety. Most of the tracks are mid-tempo and have the 2000-2003 radio ready R-N-B feel. At 1st i was kinda bored by the sound, but since it's been awhile since that sound of R-N-B has been gone for awhile, i started liking it more and more as i went thru' the album. I don't like that most of them are mid-tempo. I think the variety of slow and uptempo should be a bit stronger. Her lyrics are good and they are all penned by Ashanti herself. Murder Inc. has no real involvement in the album (which is a good thing). With every album she has seperated from them more and more...making it so that i personally can take her more seriously. The Murder Inc. team has no production on the album. The album features some work by Babyface, Jermaine Durpi, Darkchild, and Diane Warren...who mix each of their styles with Ashanti's radio-ready R-N-B sound. Vocally, she's only working with Robin Thicke, Akon, and Nelly. She doesn't even thank Irv Gotti and Ja-Rule in that "thank you's." When it comes 2 straight R-N-B, she has a good album here. Alot of the R-N-B scene is getting forgettable faces in it...Ashanti is doing her part 2 not be that. LALAH HATHAWAY "SELF PORTRAIT" I had no idea this album waz coming out until i saw it in the new releases. I picked it up with no hesitation. Labeled as "Urban Contemporary," this album is just one of those albums that has deep lyrics about love and life. The production is flawless, filled with live instrument and a deep sound. No glamour, no glitz, no gimmicks...just perfect R-N-B/Soul music. I strongly suggest all R-N-B fans check this album. If u like Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott, Kenny Lattimore, Ledisi, u will like this.
  17. I make a point 2 listen 2 stuff b4 i truely trash it. However, the state of commercial rap has been so bad for so long, that i no longer really need 2. Lil' Wayne sucks. He is up for one of the worst Rap artists of all time. He has no creativity, no flexibility, no voice, no flow, no lyrics, no production, no personality, no nothing. Period. He will never make a good song. He doesn't have the ability to make a good song. I will never have 2 listen 2 one of his songs ever again before forming an opinion. He is the personification of trash. And it's not just him. Most of todays chart-topping rappers are in the very same situation. Lil' Scrappy, Lil' Boosie, Webbie, and 1,000 others. They suck and will never make a good song. There are people like Nelly, who i don't like, but i like some of his songs like Dilemma, Shake Ya Tailfeather, and Over and Over. I don't think Puffy is a good rapper, but i like Satisfy You and I Need A Girl. I don't like Ja-Rule, but i like Thug Luvin'...i don't really support guys like that, but they drop a song from time 2 time that i like. I'm not gonna put it on the level of Fresh Prince, Common Sense, or Public Enemy, but i like them for what they are. So many of these dirty south rappers make music that will never be good. It's not even wroth my time 2 listen 2 them. When u have no desire 2 write a song with a subject and no desire 2 actually try 2 make quality music, u never will do anything good.
  18. People take paycuts for movies they really wanna do sometimes...
  19. Congratz 2 him. I usually lean Republican. In the beginning i was actually really supporting Obama. Now, i can't say i support anyone that much. I'm also gotta say that i'm not really following things at all anymore cuz nobody stands out 2 me 2 much anymore.
  20. My sound is still out on the computer. I can't believe she would do something on Murder Inc. It's like a sick joke. I can't say i'm a fan of hers...but she seems 2 talented 2 work with the collaspsing joke of a label.
  21. I love this. I watched it back in the day when it 1st came out. Just a few months ago i finally got this on VHS. Classic stuff.
  22. The bit waz sarcastic...i'm just hyped that FP is talking about BB3!!
  23. Thanx 4 the pix and news....i love his shoes! I got this short bit from AOL News... Is Will Smith really hurting for movie roles? According to Contact Music, the rapper-turned-actor was begging Michael Bay backstage at the MTV Movie Awards to make 'Bad Boys 3.' At least he's not trying to get 'Pursuit of Happyness 2: Get Happy-er' on a fast track. (June 2)
  24. Whoa, MissAshley busted out the Jesse Powell!! MINT CONDITION - Us (Circuit City Bonus Track) E-Life (2008)
