I love Toni Braxon. Her music has remained solid for nearly 20 years and she seems to genuinly be one of the nicest, most grounded artists in the business. I hope she gets things together and it'd be really nice if her new album would get some legit success. ------------------------------- Toni Braxton -- Bankrupt Again, May Owe $50 Mil 10/7/2010 5:20 AM Toni Braxton has filed for bankruptcy again -- claiming she owes somewhere between $10 million and $50 million in unpaid debts all over the country ... including DMVs in TWO different states. Braxton -- who sold more than 40 million albums in her career -- just filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in California ... and in the docs, the singer claims she's only worth somewhere between $1 mil and $10 mil ... but she could have up to $50 mil in debts. In the docs, 43-year-old Braxton lists a ton of creditors to whom she thinks she may owe money... including: -- AT&T -- The Four Seasons Hotels -- Cedars-Sinai Medical Center -- Various medical bills -- DirecTV -- Neiman Marcus -- The William Morris Agency -- Tiffany & Co. -- Orkin Pest Control -- The Internal Revenue Service -- BMW Financial Services -- ADT Security -- American Express -- Flamingo Las Vegas -- Mesa Air Conditioning -- Nevada Power Company -- Screen Actors Guild -- The Westin -- Wells Fargo Bank . Braxton also claims she may owe money to the City of L.A. Parking Violations Bureau -- and the DMV in both California and Nevada. Braxton has a storied history of financial problems -- she filed for bankruptcy back in 1998 ... and earlier this year, the IRS filed a lien against her for $396k. A close relative of Toni Braxton tells TMZ ... the singer's financial undoing can be traced back to her show in Las Vegas. The relative tells us Toni took out "show insurance" through Lloyds of London for her act at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino back in 2007. When Toni was diagnosed with a heart condition -- in the middle of the show's run -- she had to pull the plug, but she was still on the hook to the Hotel for big bucks. Toni expected Lloyds to cover the loss but Lloyds didn't, arguing Toni had a undisclosed, preexisting medical condition, rendering the policy void. In the end, Toni had to absorb a huge loss, which the relative claims sent her on a downward financial spiral. Toni Braxton showed up to the Dolphins game in Miami on Monday ... wearing some blinged out jewelry, a snakeskin bag and a pair of Louboutin heels which retail for over $800.

I think EVERYONE is just happy that season 5 came out for now. It wouldn't surprise me if it comes out before the holiday season (this year or next year) OR with the next Will Smith movie hitting theaters or coming out on DVD.

Jay-Z Disses Hammer, Hammer Responds!
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Yeah, but what I'm saying is, those other guys were popular and successful back in the day and caught crap for being popular. They were being themselves, got popular and then got called crossovers and sellouts. Now it's okay for rappers to be popular and more than often (way more), the infact sold out to do what is popular to be popular. Old school legends paid the price so that less talented, less mature, less moral watered-town "artists" could flourish today. Building off of what Ted said about Hammer still having his stuff together, I was giggling at the fact that in most (or all) cases of new school rappers being disrespectful to the ones who paved the way would probably have their butts handed to them by any of those 4 emcees if they met them in a dark ally....lol. I've had this attitude for years..."Who cares about what's popular in rap?" I love when a dope emcee like Common Sense is on the charts but commercial rap and it's artists are garbage. I don't care about what's trendy, what they talk about (if anything), what their style is, etc. I love Hip-Hop and they aren't Hip-Hop so I could care less. However, when the planets align and a dope Hip-Hop artist gets mainstream success, I will cheer them on. -
I noticed that and thought I deleted this post. Let's try this again...

Jay-Z Disses Hammer, Hammer Responds!
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Ha ha...I don't think Jay-Z has ever done anything athletic. The thing I love about MC Hammer is that he came from streets that were much grittier than most rappers brag about coming from. The difference is, Hammer never defined himself by it. He put on shows, sported a showmanship style, and made music that wasn't explicit. He's always stayed in good shape and he has always been good with his hands (and this includes fighting). Let's see Lil' Wayne, Kanye West, Jay-Z, T.I., or Drake in a fist fight...lol. I don't need to say anything else. Fresh Prince, MC Hammer, LL Cool J, Marky Mark get flack for having mass appeal, but they would totally tear you up in a dark ally if you challenged them. -
Brakes, I know u like Canibus, so please don't read my comment...lol... I just dislike Canibus. I could never get into his music. 1st off, his voice is just annoying. And when he came out, many rappers don't have annoying voices like they do today. People called him so lyrical, but even the songs that I attempted to stomach by ignoring his voice or his often-wack production, I never thought there was anything special about him. His battle with LL was the last great emcee battle that didn't involve violence. But that's all he's really known for. He doesn't have a single hit outside of "Second Round K.O." I admire that he's still trying to make music in his situation but going have KRS-One is just idiotic. On top of KRS being one of the greatest of the greatests, Canibus has NO reason to go at him. KRS's comments were strictly his opinion and they weren't insulting. Canibus is desperate for attention and/or has some unrealistic view of himself and his skills. His career has been dead for over a decade and going after legends, who are also clearly alot more talented than he is will not be a way for him to get back in the game.

From 'Nanny McPhee Returns' to 'Men in Black III'? Apparently so. According to Variety, Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson is in talks to co-star in the third installment of the 'Men in Black' movie franchise, in which she would play Agent Oh, a "MIB agent from the '60s monitoring a prison break." Franchise veterans Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are set to reprise their roles as Agents Jay and Kay in the film, which has Agent Jay time-traveling back to the '60s to enlist the help of a younger K, played by Josh Brolin ('Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps'). According to the report, 'Flight of the Conchords' star Jemaine Clement is in talks to play the film's villain. If cast, Thompson would make a welcome addition to the franchise. If the 'Nanny McPhee' movies proved anything, it's that the Oscar-winning star of such classics as 'Howard's End,' 'The Remains of the Day' and 'Love Actually' still has plenty of comedic flair. Hopefully, 'MIB III' will give her the right outlet to use her skills. (If anything, I hope they give her a pair of sunglasses to rock.) The film will be helmed by director Barry Sonnenfeld -- his first theatrical release since 2006's 'Runaway Vacation' -- from a script by 'Angels and Demons' scribe David Koepp. 'Men in Black III' hits theaters on May 25, 2012, in 3-D.

MARIO ARRESTED FOR BEATING UP HIS MOM
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
Or he's an emotionally immature quick-to-anger person. I don't understand how people can grow up this way and not be in control of themselves. Stories like this are crazy. What does it take to make a person so angry that they would harm their own mother? I hope they work their stuff out and that he gets help...and that she stays clean. Last I read she never actually got off drugs, but that she goes back and forth on them. Lastly, I'm disappointed to hear Mario is jumping on the bandwagon and doing a stupid club-influenced album. -
This definitely has me looking at Mario in a different way. I used to really respect him... --------------------------------------------------------- Mario Arrested for Beating Up His Own Mother Mario is in hot water. The 24-year-old was arrested this morning in Baltimore for second degree assault. Earlier this week, after flying into a rage, the platinum-selling R&B singer allegedly assaulted his mother Shawntia Hardaway, with whom he shares an apartment. According to TMZ, police claim that Mario, whose real name is Mario Dewar Bennett, was "throwing and damaging property," which they later discovered to be a broken china cabinet and shattered mirror. Police also state that Mario then pushed Shawntia, a former heroin addict, with his hands and forearms "eight feet into a living room wall, where Ms. Hardaway hit her head on the wall" where an imprint was made upon impact. This isn't the first time that Mario, who was released this morning on $50,000 bond, has been involved in a physical altercation. This past July, the singer punched a sound engineer at the 16th Annual Rochester MusicFest after he cut off his microphone and turned the lights on when his set ran too long. Mario, who most recently appeared as a contestant on Season 6 of 'Dancing With the Stars,' released his fourth album 'D.N.A.' in September 2009. He is currently working on his club-oriented fifth LP.

Ice Cube Accepts Comon's Movie Offer

I like this! -
I've never cared about Dipset. I liked Cam'ron when he 1st came out. I think he's alright to this day. I never cared about the rest of his crew. I think Juelz Santana was good when it came to mainstream rappers, but that's about as far as my interest in him ever went. I can't say I care much about this news...but at least half of them are better than any current popular rappers.

This angers me. I have such a strong dislike for Solar and this has me angered to the point that if I saw him walking down the street, I'd probably tackle him...which is completely out of my character. It's funny that you posted this because late last night I was visiting Guru's Myspace (I added another Guru page, not knowing if it's legit) and watched a 10 minute video of his nephew talking about how Solar had things set up at the hospital so that Guru's own family couldn't call or visit or be kept up to date on Guru's condition. Guru will always be one of the greatest It's unfortunate that a Gang Starr project wasn't completed during the last months of his life and that 8.0 Lost And Found was his last studio album (considering I think it's his weakest). But some average work never holds back a legend's impact on music and how their legacy is viewed. I remember thinking Guru just didn't look so healthy on Lost And Found. He's yet another artist I liked who kept the private details of his struggle from the public which left his passing a total shock to the fans...much like my man Rich Cronin. After watching that video last night I looked at Solar's page. I giggled that someone left him a "F*** you fa**ot" comment. I hope Solar is separated from Guru's estate and legacy in every way. What an awful person.

Jay-Z Disses Hammer, Hammer Responds!
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I can't agree with the statement that Hammer is doing well for himself musically. 2001's Active Duty had some good tracks and some filler and out-of-character trax. The Full Blast era had some good music but those tracks virtually didn't see the light of day. Look Look Look was hard to come by (I only saw it on one website and still haven't gotten it yet). And since then he's done some songs that were good but none of them have been appropriately released. Basically nothing since Active Duty has been properly promoted or released. If he'd put the music out there he'd have a decent following. His non-music projects are fine but they aren't what he's known for and ultimately don't matter when it comes to his career. I want to see an MC Hammer album on shelves in stores.
