1. When I first heard The Rain, I said "this is REAL HIP-HOP!" I played the song for my mother and all I kept saying is that this is real hip-hop. It's a song that deals with life and how we are put our faith in God thru all of our situations. It's the most significant hip-hop song I've ever heard. It speaks to every man, woman and child. It boggles my mind that Sony did not release this song as a single. Imagine the video - Will walking along the streets of Philly on a rainy day. Will looking as the kids play in the rain and being reflective about life. It would have been a great video. Sony Music sucks!!!
 2. This was a tough poll but I went with "Holla Back" just edging out "Nothing On My Mind". All of the songs were great B-sides but those two I just named are personal favorites of mine.
 3.
I AM SORRY I DISAGREE IT IS NOT FACT IF RAKIM is not in the top three thats just east coast bias what  IS FACT is that ice cube is not in the top three. And  tupac was just gifted  PERIOD OFTEN IMITATED BUT NEVER DUPLICATED!
First of all, I'm from Chicago so there is no "east coast bias." You know you could be accused of having a "west coast bias." Rakim was simply one of the sickest MCs in the game, period. He is top three with KRS-One and RUN-DMC. Before you start criticizing other rappers, you might want to really listen to these giants of hip-hop. I've listened to 2Pac and other "west coast" artists so I think I'm qualified to offer my opinion. I've been into hip-hop for over 20 years so I know a little bit about the subject. The fact of the matter is if it weren't for cats like RUN-DMC, Eric B. & Rakim, KRS-One and others there would have been no 2Pac. And before you start that east coast bias stuff again, just remember where 2Pac is from - THE EAST COAST(Baltimore, MD.)!
 4.

how sad top dawg you are missing out on west side connection, 50 cent , and eminem clearly the class of rap now unlike theses other commercial artist like the roots, how sad.
I hope this comment is suppossed 2 be a joke.
AJ, I don't think he is joking. I really hope he is. The Roots are commercial? Is he serious? This is what I'm talking about. We've got a bunch of folks who think that what 50 Cent is doing is real hip-hop. If you are a fan of 50, that's cool. Just don't call it real hip-hop because it's not. 50 Cent is way more commercial than The Roots could ever dream of being.
 5.
hey ya!!!i was at disco las night, and i was very bored, then i heard:old remark ready set let's go!!!...
That sounds cool! Actually, Gettin' Jiggy starts with: "On your mark, Ready, Set. Let's go...."
 6. AJ, I think you missed my point. What I was trying to say is that Will should forget about signing with some label that's concerned all about album sales and TRL appearances. That's what rap is about today - straight commercialism. It's all about "hot" beats and hooks. There is nothing that moves me in rap today. I remember how I felt the first time I heard Heavy D. & The Boyz "We Got Our Own Thang". I remember how I felt the very first time I heard Slick Rick's "Children's Story" or Kool Moe Dee's "I Go To Work". I can't remember the last time I felt like that. Will has said he wants an old-school vibe with his next album. I doubt that labels are looking for retro-vibes in rap. They want what's "hot". They want CDs that are going to move units and be on TRL everyday. If Will wants to release the album independently or through the internet then that's all good with me. I just want Will to continue to make music that he wants - and not what these labels want. I want Will to control his music and his image and not these stupid labels who don't know a thing about hip-hop.
 7.
Most record labels are weak so Will would be better off promoting the album himself on Overbrook than joing another label... It's all about stayin' in the game, not sellin' records. Will has enough awards and platinum plaques already, he should just keep on rappin' like Rickey Henderson kept on playing baseball for 25 years, even though he broke the stolen base record 12 years ago,Will won the 1st rap grammy 16 years ago, what more does he have to prove?
That's what I'm talking about. Will does not need some big label to put out music. The reason you see KRS-One, Public Enemy and other rappers doing CDs on indie labels is that they want control of their music. What you have now is some "suit" telling artists what's "hot". It's not about what's in your heart & soul with music today. It's all about what's "hot". I was watching Making The Band 2 on MTV last night and all they were talking about is making "hot" tracks with tight hooks. Unfortunately, that's what sells in music today. As long as you have a hot beat and tight hook then you got a "hot" track. I'm tired of "hot" tracks. I want tracks that moves your mind and heart. All of this rap that's out now is straight garbage. Will should follow his heart and go independent. Sure he probably won't be on TRL and be "hot" but he doesn't have anything to prove to anyone. Leave the garbage to 50 Cent and all these other cats and just give me the real hip-hop.
 8.
There was the time Will and Jeff were on a gameshow and were beating the crap out of each other in the sound proof booth until Jazz hurt his eye and then they made up. A Kodak moment.
That was one of my favorite Jazz scenes but my #1 episode is when Will hired Jazz to be a fake priest to marry Will and Kim Fields so Will could have sex with her that night. That was a hilarious episode. My favorite line is when Jeff says, "I've never known the pleasures of the flesh but I'd be convinced to give up the priesthood for you." :bowrofl:
 9. This isn't even close. Willennium is by far the better album. As much as I love BWS, Willennium was strictly a classic hip-hop album. I think the problem with music today is that people are looking for music that's "hot". The problem with "hot" tracks is they usually lack creativity, orginality and authencity. You can argue that 50 Cent makes "hot" tracks but are they GOOD tracks? The other problem with "hot" tracks is they quickly fade away into oblivion(i.e. "The Thong Song"). Will people be bumping "In The Club" 5 years from now? I really doubt it. I will guarantee that 20 years from now, people will still bump Eric B. & Rakim's "I Ain't No Joke", JJFP's "Brand New Funk" or Common's "I Used To Love H.E.R." I would venture to say about 95% of rap music out today is way too interested in being "hot" as opposed to being true to hip-hop. BWS was a great album but it was not a pure hip-hop album. Willennium is pure hip-hop.
 10.
I'm gonna give y'all a list of my all-time Top 20 Rappers It goes a little somethin' like dis: 1-2Pac 2-KRS-ONE(Boggie Down Productions) 3-JJFP 4-Run-Dmc 5-LL Cool J 6-Eric B. and Rakim 7-Public Enemy 8-Slick Rick 9-Salt-N-Pepa 10-Nas 11-Sugar Hill Gang 12-Big Daddy Kane 13-Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five 14-Snoop Dogg 15-Ice Cube 16-Queen Latifah 17-A Tribe Called Quest 18-Busta Rhymes 19-Fugees 20-DMX Honorable Mention:Kurtis Blow and Naughty By Nature MTV Wouldn't Make A List Like That!
I agree with AJ. There is no way you can compile a list and not have Rakim in the top 3. You also can't have a top 20 list and not include Biggie. As much as I love JJFP, I can't put them over Eric B & Rakim, Run DMC, and Public Enemy.
 11. I love both songs but I would have choose Pump Me Up. It's a little hotter than "Rock".
 12. I liked Em's first record because it was witty and sarcastic. After that, his lyrics became too abrasive and explicit for me. Here are the four songs that I like from Em: My Name Is Stan I Am Lose Yourself. If he would just stick to the type of lyrics he spit in those songs he would be better. He doesn't suck as an MC but his lyrics are like hot garbage right now. I do have to admit I like the new D12 video, My Band. That joint is mad funny.
 13. 1. (It's Just)The Things That You Do 2. 1, 000 Kisses
 14. I AM SO HAPPY THAT DUKE LOST TODAY!!!! DOWN GOES THE EVIL EMPIRE!!! DOWN GOES THE EVIL EMPIRE!!!!!
 15. It's not surprising that baby-boomers listen to JJFP. My father kept my JJFP mix tape for the longest time. He really likes JJFP because they have clean lyrics in their raps.
 16. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PRINCE!!!! :afro:  :dancingcool:
 17. This is not true for a few reasons: 1 - Why would Will release WWW? It was not a blockbuster hit. If Will was releasing this box set, he would have released Enemy Of The State. 2 - Will does not have a song on the Bad Boys, Ali & BB2 soundtracks. It would make no sense for him to put these CDs on the 15 box set because he has nothing to do with them. He had no artistic control over those soundtracks. 3 - Will can't release "previously unreleased" tracks. Only the record company can release those type of tracks and since Will is no longer affiliated with Columbia, there is no reason for Columbia to release these tracks. 4 - The track that Will did with Biggie is under the control of Bad Boy Entertainment/Arista Records. You basically need an act of Congress to get tracks from other labels released.
 18.
hey topdawg..donnie brasco    one of my fav movies .. forget about it :peace:
I loved that movie too. I didn't see it in the theatres and I rented one night from Blockbuster. After I saw it I immediately went to Best Buy to buy that movie. It remains one of my favorite movies of all-time.

Man, TopDawg has alot of stuff i want!!  :::puts ski-mask on and heads over 2 his crib 2 steal them:::
yeah thats a dope collection.. i probably got half of what topdawg has... okay i gotta put my collection up in a few days.. jim that jjfp forever is topdawgs personal mix cd he made
Hero1 and AJ, Thanks for the love on the collection. I'm in the process of getting a bunch of old-school hip-hop from places like buymusic.com and itunes music store. I've found a bunch of old-school songs. Over the past year I've basically been making my own cds from songs I've bought at those internet music stores.
 23. The first time I heard Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble was when I became a JJFP fan. I've been a fan ever since then. At the time there was such a diverse group of rappers that JJFP just blended in with their own style. Hip-Hop back in the mid-to-late 80's was the best!
