DMX "Year Of The Dog...Again", August 1st Release
Silver Tiger replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I just listened through it one time. It's gonna take a little more for me to come up with a real conclusion, but I like the album. For one, his hooks are catchy- but to me, that's one of the least important parts of the song. He's still DMX and he comes back with the same powerful emotions in his songs. Will's name is dropped (concerning earlier comments X made about Rhihanna and the Switch beat). I'm feeling the second half of the album more right now. Check it out. God Blessa! -

Fat Joe On His New Album "Me, Myself & I"
Silver Tiger replied to Turntable's topic in Caught in the Middle
Well obviously you haven't been paying much attention to this thread, if you just took a minute to look you'd see I was speaking to AJ about Fat Joe's, BEP's, Nick Cannon's credability since he brought up that BEP represents real hip-hop and Fat Joe is a sellout but come on now if anyone in the 'hood's gonna own albums from any of these rappers the odds'll be that they'll own a Fat Joe album and they wouldn't laugh as hard as they'd if you told them that Fat Joe's an all time great but if you told someone in the 'hood that Nick Cannon's an all time great, they'll be like  Hip-hop is music from the streets, their opinion should matter before kids from the suburbs that's why hip-hop is as trash the way it is, it needs to become less mainstream and more of an underground genre, that's why the golden era was so great 'cause hip-hop wasn't as popular as it is now so it wasn't driven by greedy A&R's, and now I was talking to you Silver Tiger about how there's no need to trip over the wackness that's out there since it's easy to get good stuff right at your fingertips, I mean you could do it from right there on your PC, I could see if it was 20-25 years ago we could just go by what's on TV or the radio but now times have changed.... No, I was paying attention. I asked because I thought it would be weird of you to continue replying to him when he hasn't said anything in the thread for a while. It sounds like you're saying "This rapper is less wack than this rapper." Depending on the song, I'd probably bump Joe over BEP in many cases (and vice versa). I really don't like your hood analogy because it's all a matter of personal taste. Of course the hood will favor FJ, it doesn't make him a better rapper in my eyes. I already told you that I wasn't trippin over what people like, but there's nothing wrong with wanting something better in life. God Blessa! -

Fat Joe On His New Album "Me, Myself & I"
Silver Tiger replied to Turntable's topic in Caught in the Middle
I'm not sure who you're speaking to specifically. I don't rank Fat Joe or BEP anywhere near the greats. I hate "My humps". I really, really hate that song. God Blessa! -
Thanks for the heads up on the song Fuq! God Blessa!

Fat Joe On His New Album "Me, Myself & I"

The crap everybody elses listens to affects what I listen to. They can listen to whatever they want, but that affects what songs I hear on the radio, what videos get airtime, etc. God Blessa! -

There's nothing wrong with being mainsteam, that just means that you're successful. Commercial rappers (most of what's getting air time nowadays) rely on gimmicks. Their songs will go #1 on iTunes but nobody is going to go back to it in 5 years. They aren't timeless. Just look at how many fads hip hop is going through right now. There's the southern obsession (most of these rappers... I really don't see the appeal other than the fact that a 1st grader could easily memorize these lyrics), grills, snap music, etc. What brings these fads to a disgusting level is when people are biting these crappy gimmicks and making their own bad songs out someone elses bad songs. If you're going to steal, steal something worth stealing. It's part of why I hate the hip hop industry so much right now. So many rappers can't be mainstream without being commercial, or at least that's what they end up choosing. Lil' Wayne might be big right now but I feel stupid after reading his lyrics. There's no thought put into commercial rap. It's all about the hook, lyrics are second class citizens as long as money is involved. God Blessa! -

I read "Me, Myself & I" and then one of the first thing the article talks about is who he's collaborating with. Anyway, I don't find him to be too good. He's really commercial nowadays (in a bad way). God Blessa! -
Cool video. I think that's the first time I've SEEN you rap. God Blessa!

The Source`s Lost & Found Review
Silver Tiger replied to Turntable's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Thanks, how many mics did they give it? God Blessa! -
A gift basket? You don't see THAT in New York (you probably do, but hey... Wesside!). God Blessa!

Yeah, I read this a while ago but didn't post anything because I didn't think it held much in the end. Enemy of the State is one of my favorite movies Will is in, but I don't know how they could continue the story in a believable way (or that they even should). God Blessa!

JJFP/Big Will mentioned in Source's 200th issue
Silver Tiger replied to bigted's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
The lists look pretty bad from 2000 and onward. 2005 is something nasty. Nice that Will gets some attention though. God Blessa! -

"What made Heckard decide to file suit against Jordan and Knight for $416 million each? "Well, you figure with my age and you multiply that times seven and then I turn around and I figure that's what it all boils down to."" Come on guys, that sounds fair. Michael Jordan obviously ruined his life. God Blessa! -
That's a shame, but it's not the end... nope. Still need to get that album don't I? How'm I gonna remember without being yelled at? Maybe at the end of a song shout out "Chris, get the damn album already." God Blessa!

There we go. God Blessa!
