  1. So, I've been making a few more youtube videos recently, mostly for school. I just wrapped up another video today and I thought I'd share it with my people here: A little note about this video is that I plan to present this in class on Tuesday. I'm hoping the professor doesn't get angry as it is probably supposed to be a lot more professional than this. Also, the reason I am quiet for a second in the beginning is because I plan to actually have a short conversation with myself in the beginning of the video. Hope you guys like it!
  2. It's gonna suck if he doesn't step up his acting skills for this movie. It would be a big waste. A liquid diet sounds like a lot of no fun.
  3. You sure are WISE TD (if ya know what I mean!). Happy Birthday!
  4. Happy Birthday Kev, where ever you ended up...
  5. I picked this up on Saturday. I'm digging it. Really wish Wayne wasn't on it but I'll survive. The Reggae production makes for a lot of tracks that are very different for Nas.
  6. Well that's what I mean. It's not about location for me either. It just so happens that most of cats from the area today fit into that category.
  7. This is the first I've heard of the Dirty South theme. I can't say I'm looking forward to this year's show at all. Other than Outkast and a select few other southern rappers, I'm not a big fan of what has come from the region. I especially don't want to hear the terrible southern rappers of today try to spit the good verses of yesteryear.
  8. Happy Birthday AJ. You're not dead yet and you should be proud of that.
  9. Wow, I can't believe I never heard this either. Thanks Julie, this is dope.
  10. Yeah, I saw him as a breath of fresh air when he first dropped. His ego has totally thrown a wrench in my interest gears though.
  11. Happy Birthday, 21 is the last hurrah though...
  12. Yeah, I wish the whole B2R album was like the title track. Anyway, I really like this idea. I liked Nod Ya Head (and the remix). The original MIB song is a classic to me though. I'd love to see an MIB3 track produced by Jeff (get him in the video too).
  13. Yes, I think that lil' wayne line is wack. It is not creative and it's repetitive. The Blackout albums are not talking about too much important. But AGAIN, I don't need a song to preach to me but also I don't need to hear a bunch of nonsense either. Especially when it comes in such a creative-less, talent-less package as someone like lil' wayne (and the like).
  14. dont you listen to nas? You need to fix that quote, because I'm not guilty of that broken grammar up there. I listen to Nas, yes. While Nas is known to use the word bitch, he also exemplifies a rapper that writes lyrics with thought behind them. It all goes back to what I initially said: I don't need a song to preach to me but I also don't need it to bat me over the head with an idiot stick.
  15. Well, Like i said, these people are smart, they have strong opinions and views of the world. But when it comes to music, they go back 30 IQ points. I don't buy the "I just wanna relax" idea. I've said it myself, I don't need my songs to be preaching to me every bar, but I don't want to hear an off-tune ***hole calling women b*tches all the time either (or ever, for that matter). And why are you bringing up cars? For all you know, I'm diligently reading up on every story of a runaway Prius that hits the press. I could be, but it would be irrelevant. We are on a music forum talking about what people listen to. So what if I have my own opinion on the matter? Should I be interjecting with a "BUT WHAT ABOUT WHAT CAR THEY DRIVE?"
  16. Well that's something that I don't get and I'm not sure if I fully agree with it. At least to a certain extent. Those people can often come up with well-thought theories on life, etc. but the next minute they could be singing along to a song that's calling them a ho. Their brain is firing, but not something isn't connecting.
  17. I used to be more on AJ's train of thought, that is optimistic. I believed that if you expose these people who are just ignorant of all the quality hip hop that out there, to someone with talent- they would appreciate it. That started to change last summer. I wanted to see if I could convert a girl I worked with. She said she liked lil' Wayne and anyone else you can think of on that "level." I let her listen to Nas' "Hero." I let her listen to k-os. I let her listen a Will Smith song that wasn't a single. Everything was above her head because she couldn't keep up with what was being said, and what's worse, she didn't want to. Wack rappers keep it simple because they ARE simple. Like Turntable said, she is a part of the main demographic that controls what hits the radio. I've exposed quality hip hop to many people. For most, they seem to try to tune it out. But once one of their BS songs about nothing comes on, they get into it. I hold out hope sometimes, but for the most part, the choices of this generation with music have jaded me into thinking I'm smarter than all of them.
  18. Happy Birthday you old dog, you.
  19. All three of them suck. I don't see anything to blink at.
  20. I've got similar issues with KRS. He is an excellent MC, but I can't roll with him on a lot of the things he says off wax. I also think he often contradicts himself. For example, when he appeared with 50 Cent on BET and said that they were doing the same thing. Ridiculous. However, I would like to hear more about this issue. Are they just nitpicking or is a hip hop museum really neglecting the history of hip hop?
