  1. As i said in the other thread. LL also did alot of mistakes with the new album. Terrible first single, terrible video and stupid collabo with J.Lo. He just wasn't hot enough. About Nas, that's Nas's fault. The album wasn't even ready 'til recently and the first single wasn't chosen until about three weeks ago. The video was shot last week. And Nas even choose a song thats hard to promote as the lead single. Cause yeah... artists on Def Jam nowadays got alot mote own creative freedom and get in the most cases to choose their own first singles and sound on the album. But, Hiphop-flopping in terms of sales isn't just a Def Jam thing. It's for all of the labels. Ludacris too chose and stupid first single. People ain't even checking for clubsongs so much anymore. What You Know About that ain't a club song. One Blood ain't a club song and Show Me What you got ain't a club song. And those are all albums that prolly going to go plat. Rappers with washed out clubsongs as first singles are also the rappers who are being downloaded the most. Cause if u don't put out a quality first single... then people ain't gonna buy your CD. And then it doesn't matter how great you album is. I mean.. LL's album is better than average. Ludacris album too, FP's was great and so on. But they all fell on their terrible lead-singles. It ain't just about advertizing and promoting. You have to have something you want to tell. You have to have a story and something to offer nowadays. It just doesn't work wth putting out a clubsong and then a album. All of the successes this year have had something other than just good promotion or whatever. Media must want to give them promotion cause interviews and so on isn't anything you can order from a newspaper just like that. You have to have something that attracts attention. And the importance of that kind of promotion cannot be understated because it's the most important promotion. Newspaper-articles, word of mouth and the hype. That's what it's all about. And alot of that weighs on the artists shoulder. These are all things I've learned studying marketing and economics. It's what i'm going to work with in the future.
  2. A major mistake is being done by LL. Besides the fact that he's selling out in a way... artists under 50 haven't had any success since the G-unit-era. Banks flopped. Yayo flopped. Spyder Loc got pushed back. Olivia got pushed back. Mobb Deep flopped. Buck is prolly goin to flop..
  3. But I find a full rapbeef pretty notrealistic. Jay has said that the only rapper that is allowed to call himself the G.O.A.T besides himself is LL. He's a huge LL fan and i think LL is kinda using that. Throwing shots at Jay knowing Jay won't answer.
  4. It's pretty good. Imagine is pretty damn good though.
  5. dude.... Lil Scrappy? Like...WTF? But.."The Fame" (featuring Big Daddy Kane, Eminem, Raekwon, Andre 3000 & Dr. Dre)" Now that sound hot.
  6. It's a tough one. I love LL and Jay man. But... like... thinking of their latest achievements I would say Jigga is better right now. LL in hos old style straight up battlerhyming would be better... but he hasn't dropped anything that has made me go like... damn since like ... alot of years. And about promoting and stuff. You can't just say it's jays fault. It's about alot of other stuff to. Diddy had huge promotion and isn't pushing anything. LL:s biggest fault was making such a cliché-video and a collabo with J.Lo. J.Lo ain't hot. Now throw like Rihanna or Nicole from PCD on there, change the video to a little more unique and stylish video and you would have a bigger hit.
  7. Gettin Jiggy With It is a blingblingsong.
  8. AJ// Then you haven't listened to Jay-Z. And FP wasn't bling bling too?
  9. Games albums is raw westcoast gangstarap. Jay is very introspective. Nas is both introspective and very concerned or in touch with what happens with other artists. Kanye is the most "food for thought" of those examples. T.I is a slow party dude. Eminem is very personal. Hell no they ain't the same. And they don't write about the same thing. The production is something I've also thought about the last year, but you can''t compare the beats on Hovas albums with those on T.I:s or Kanyes or Games. None of them sound the same.
  10. There is a difference between freestylin for a mixtape than rapping without written rhymes for a album like FP did for "He's the.." or Jay does. Snoops lyrics are pretty much... ass. Compare his lyrics with Jays and its like.. ehm.. yeah.. Biggie thought Jay to do it. Jay thought Kanye and Beanie Sigel amongst a couple of rappers from the ROC. "He write his own rhymes, sort of, I think 'em That mean I forgat better **** than you ever thought of"
  11. Bigted// Yea, we might think that Ye and Game are a bunch of jerks.. but really do you really care as long as they put out quality music? I against that state of mind where you shouldn't like someones music just cause they dumbasses outside of the music. And that isn't just about Game or Ye, but also people like Madonna, Michael Jackson etc. Dparrot// So you mean that Game, Kanye, Jay, Nas, Eminem and T.I all sound the same? aaaw noo... .................................... A couple of qoutables from the last years: "Black church services, murderers, Arabs serving burger its Cats with gold permanents move they bags as herbalist The dirt isn't just fertile its people working & earning this The curb-getters go where the cash flow & the current is" Common - The Corners "Used to think that I was hard, so I stole my brothers glock And that's the day my life changed 'cause that night he got shot Killed by another Crip over his Rolex watch" The Game - Ol' English "The worst drug known to man It's stronger than, heroin When you could look in the mirror like, "There I am" And still not see, what you've become" Jay-Z - Lost One "And now we ooze it, through they nooks and crannies So our mommas ain't got to be they, cooks and nannies And we gon' repo everything they ever took from grammy Now the former slaves trade hooks, for Grammy's This dark diction, has become America's addiction Those who ain't even black use it We gon' keep baggin up this here, crack music" Kanye West - Crack Music. I could basically go on forever with qoutables from great songs from the latest years. And i bet u that like 80% of todays hiphopaudience haven't even paid attention to at least 70% of the great lines and qoutables. It about listening man. We don't do that anymore!
  12. So.. I've been away from the forum for quite a while now. Been busy with alot things in my life that I needed to clear up before going on. .................................................. I read an interview with a musicreporter where the reporter said that the music isn't getting worse, but what is getting worse is in fact the listeners. And I totally agree with this dude. I can basically sum it up in a short example: When I didn't know how to download songs and so, I used too buy my albums. I used to save up money to afford buying an album. And U bought alot of albums, not just albums from artists i loved, but also from rappers I was curious about. And when u spend money in albums and buying music and so, u listen to it in a completly other way. When i bought my albums, I used to sit in my room for like 2 straight days and just listen to it. Cuz that was money there, I had paid for it and I was determined to listen to it. So I sat down in my room and listened to music until i either liked it or got sick of it. Most of the times i liked it cuz when u sit down and analyse or really listen to the lyrics of a song, u'll find things u hadn't heard before and u start to dig it. And that's still how I listen to music and I get alot of crap for it. Cause I love Jay-Z, Nas, Kanye, Will, Lupe and I do like The Games new album too. Because I have really sat down and analysed the songs. BUT, nowadays u got like the internet. U download a album, play it once and if it doesn't appear to you as if it's Jesus walking out of your speakers, then u don't like it and throw it away. People just don't listen to music anymore. That's why almost every damn album nowadays is considered a letdown or a flop, cuz we as listeners don't take our time to really listen to the music. .................................................. U guys prolly can think of your own examples in artists u like that u don't think get the right acknowledgement. Damn, FP is certainly one of those the last years. And this ain't a fanboy thread or a artist thread but I do feel like Jays last album is really damn good. I can sit and write qoutable from it all day long if I wanted to, because I have listened to it. The same with like Game or Kanye. And people get surprised by that. They're like: "damn! did Game/Kanye really say that?". So... Do u agree? Are we ruining music by downloading and just throwing music away without giving the artists a fair chance?
  13. Jay doesn't write rhymes. He thinks them.
  14. Well the answer to why other people do it probably because Kanye started doing it in a time where those subjects weren't being adressed in the music biz. And there was a huge need for it.
  15. Ofcourse! Even though it is his music i loved from the beginning there is no denial in that he is a superb actor as well.
  16. Lupe is damn amazing. His lyrics and flow is as good as it can get. Incredible lyrics that takes some time to understand. He's no a rapper you just put on to listen to and dig. His lyrics can be analyzed and twisted just like a poet, KRS, Rakim or whatever. BUT, he stills has room to adapt and learn more about makin songs. Cause the build and rhymescheme in his songs tend to get repetitive and listening to the full leaked album can get boring if u don't have alot of time. He needs to get more entertaining or just better in constructing songs so that he can catch the listeners ears for a longer time. Just like the legends like Nas, KRS, Rakim, Jay and plenty of the old school rappers can do.
  17. I was at Stockholm Jazzfestival last night to see Maceo Parker and Kanye. Kanye had this medley where he played songs that influenced him during his upbringing and one of the songs was the theme for FPOBA. He danced to it and then he said that his favourite song of all time was A-Ha's "Take on me" So he played it and then he started doing the Carlton dance from FPOBA and said: " And this is from my favourite TV-show". Just some completely unneccesary info!
  18. Ye, you def have a point there. But when i listened to War with God, which is a song he made directed towards himself i realized that the dude has opened his eyes and mind. Basically War with God is a diss-song about how this man is talking about selling cocaine, acting gangsta, lieing, being someone he is not and so on. Everybody thought it was aimed towards someone, but then Luda explained that it's a track directed towards the old Luda. And I believe cause, yeah he may be a hypocrit when you look at his past but no matter what that is some two really dope songs. I mean, even Fresh Prince dumbed down on us. But I still took Lost and Found seriuosly because we all can change..
  19. Go to Allhiphop.com and listen to Ludas new song "Tel it like it is". I've always thought he's a pretty mediocre rapper. Some good songs and some really bad songs. But this one blew me away. It addresses the state of hiphop and the whole mainstream hiphop-trend that is making us blind. Listen to it!
  20. Dude..it's like a love song.. Why should it be a diss? Yesterday I was half the man you see Baby thats because you the other half of me You my number 1 hit on the line of the charts I'mma FedEx my love and have you sign for my heart For my number 1 I keep ya dumb fly Fresh to death you like after death I resurrected my gold Jesus of Nazareth Now we Fresh as a Prince while they Jazzy Jeff I remember reading an interview in Kingsize Magazine in sweden. Kanye said JJFP was one of his favourite acts when he was young. But then everyone got into the gangsta and party act and he was called a geek for listening to JJFP. So he started listening to all that jiggy **** that came out. And you can notice that on Kanyes yearly producing for like Jermaine Dupri or his ghostproducing for D-dot. It sounded really wack, like all those wack ass party beats. It's just wordplay. It's not like he means the girl really is the half of him or that he fed-exed his love. And he certainly didn't resurrect his gold jesus of nazareth. Damn.. y'all gotta loosen up. Just chillout. There ain't no conspiracy against Will. Besides in the boardrooms of Warners and Universal...
  21. Loretta Here he comes Partystarter L&F Switch Reggae remix.
  22. Hero1// Yea, The Roots went on for three hours 2. It was incredible. ?uestlove had this solo at the end that was amazing. AJ// As much as i hate to listen to BEP:s latest albums. I still believe they should be really good live. Or so i've heard. They do have the right kind of music to be performed live. The biggest disappointment to me was actually seeing Nas. Even though it's memorable, cause, hey! It's Nas! But he was kinda boring and stiff.
  23. I'm gonna see KRS-One in about two weeks from now in my hometown. It'll be the first time I see him live. That inspired my to make this thread. So basically: Which is the most memorable/best concert you've been at?'' The best concert i've seen has to be The Roots 2003. It was incredible. Such energy and charisma. They really blew me away. The most memorable has to be *surprise* Kanye West 2004. Other good concerts I've been to has to be Masta Ace, Nas and Souls of Mischief. So, how about you?
  24. Interesting to read! FP is doing a good thing! A true hero and legend! I'm very interested in the whole middle-east conflict and Rabin was one of few Israeli leaders I liked, so it's nice hearing Will respects leaders that should be respected!
  25. I really don't think it's fair to compare legends old stuff with their new stuff. Cause there is much difference in motivation, hunger and so on. I really just listen to it and then rate it if it's good or not. Haven't listened to it yet. "we're gonna make it" was dope though.
